Excellent fish and chips, freshly cooked and generous portion. My son had a steak pie and enjoyed it another had a sausage, again enjoyed it. Great quality and generous portions. Only chip shop I will use.

Will never use again. Ordered large cod, small chips and curry sauce. Fish was tiny barely cooked all the way through and greasy as anything. Chips had more black spots and eyes than actual potato and a small curry sauce is 1.60! Place is a joke, especially for expensive it is. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible customer service and verbally attacked by their driver and owner! Said some very nasty things to me in front of my daughter! Waited 2 hours for food so rang them to be told the driver got lost so I said I'd go fetch the food, when I got there all I asked was what happened to then get abuse from the driver, she couldn't see my address as she doesn't work for uber and couldn't call me! Yet all my details are on uner! The owner then started shouting abuse at me and the driver joined in I had my 11 year old daughter with me. Disgusting behaviour and attitude to customers!

Fish and chips for 2 adults and a child - fish was cooked to order and chips were big and chunky and piping hot! Batter was light and crispy, not greasy at all. Fish was lovely and flaky and all for under £20 - perfect way to start the Easter hols on a weekend breakaway

We have been here 3 times now, always for fish, chips and mushy peas. Lovely pleasant staff with excellent service. Had to wait 5 minutes for the fish to be cooked but well worth it! Huge portions of freshly cooked chips and large fish. I wouldn’t go anywhere else now.

I never usually leave reviews, but I feel like I need to for this. This place has had many owners and was a regular visit for me as it’s on my dog walk and only 5 mins from home. The food used to be great about 6 months ago. I visited in December 2020 to fetch only a portion of chips. I was the only customer in the shop and it taken 10 minutes for them to even acknowledge I was there, just to be told to wait. A further 10 minutes went past and they still had not taken my order so I walked out. My latest visit was last night, when I ordered on just eat (as they seem to prioritise collection customers). Firstly I was called to say they didn’t have what I wanted and it would take 45 minutes to cook. I just said we will pick something else when I’m the shop. When I got there, they didn’t have anything in the warmers and swapped my £3.20 item for a bottle of pop that you could get for 50p at a corner shop. Once I get home and unwrap the order, I was amazed by the so called “large” mixed kebab. No exaggeration, it has 4 small strips of doner and 6/7 small pieces of chicken. I would hate to see the small size! At this point we were to hungry, cold from our walk and fed up to bother with it. We have given it 2-3 chances now incase it was an off day, but every time the service is poor and the food is not great at all. I will definitely not be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I ordered directly from the chippy and it arrived 10 minutes early. The delivery charge was very reasonable and the food was delicious and hot. Can't fault them.

New to the area! Visited and great food! Big’d up about service! And delivery! That’s when they fell flat on their face! Called 3 mins over to be told drivers finish bang on 9.30! Also what establishments like this close at 10pm? We don’t live in an old people’s home area!?🤔

Was really please the staff were polite served me within five minutes they even chucked in a couple free fish cakes for me and the mrs, food was lovely overall I’m chuffed with what come for the price it was top notch

Used the online ordering service which we thought was great and went to collect 15 minutes later with no issues. - however when we got home a few minutes later we found that the chips, pie and fish were barely Luke warm and the mushy peas we ordered were stone cold! This food had obviously not been temperature probed ........ needless to say won’t be going back it’s put us right off

Not been to this fish & chip shop for quite some time! Was pleasantly surprised by how good everything about the experience was ! First time we only had large chips & large carton of gravy. Our daughter said the chips were very tasty. That's very good in other words ! Tonight we ordered by phone to save waited around & queuing up . I had large cod well done & lightly battered just like seaside fish & chip shops , my wife had a 1/4 pounder burger & a few of my mountain of chips , which was also good . Just one thing to had the chips could have been warmer.

WORST FOOD EVER! Ordered food through the "just eat" app. Took nearly 3hrs to arrive... when it did, it was cold uncooked and bloody disgusting! Mixed Kebab... chips microwaved! No taste and cold yet like rubber! Chicken soggy.. kebab meat pink and tasteless.! 1/2lbs burger... buns were stale.! Burgers were under cooked.. no taste and no way 1/2lbs, the salad had more flavour.!! 1/4lbs burger... same as above! Even the dog wouldn't eat it! Fish Bites... arrived cold, soggy and crushed.! Extra onion rings.. 90p each. (We had 2) these were soggy and no bigger than 2in. Overall shocking... will never recommend or use this place again.! Before throwing away this order I took plenty of pictures... now following the protocols of just eat and if this doesn't work I'll be contacting the relevant authorities. This isn't food fit for human consumption... chrikey, the dogs didn't want it either!!!

The Homemade fishcake was delicious! This is now going to be my regular midweek treat and I can't wait for my next one.

Not been here for ages and the last time I did the food was terrible. Heard that it was under new management so I gave it a shot. The chicken meat and chips were amazing and my wife said the fish was the best she'd ever had. I will be back again soon. 👍😊

Avoided this chippy for some time after hearing that it wasnt very good but after seeing that it was under new management I decided to give it a try, the chips and battered cod were delicious cooked right in front of me and staff both fast and polite. Would reccomend as one of the best in the area.

Not the best in town and you pay more for the food here.This used to be a really good chip shop ten years ago but unfortunately now chips are brown and old.The girl serving me got told to take some chips out of my order too as the owner watches portions to ensure you pay more.With other offers in town such as andys in church Gresley I wouldn’t bother.

I visted hilcrest fish bar and the chips were burnt and must have been hours old.The pie was cold.The worst chippy in the area by far

Called for fish and chips as a quick meal, fish was dry and had been re heated again seemed like the day before. Chips the same. Won’t be going again.

The food here is always delicious. The home made fish cakes are the best I've tasted and the chips are always clean and fresh. Better yet, the owners are always smiling, friendly and pleased to see you. A well deserved 5 stars.

Just moved into Midway, needed a change from pasta and went to Hillcrest - excellent! The cod was absolutely beautiful and the chips cooked wonderfully

Nos trasladamos a la zona hace 9 meses y tenía la primera llevar desde aquí el día que llegamos. El pescado es muy buena, tanto bacalao y eglefino son frescas, blanco y sabroso. Las patatas son geniales y las porciones son muy generosas. Personal amable, buen servicio y tienda muy limpio.

Only chippy I'll use kebabs are the bests and always have fresh salad.the owner and his staff are always very pleasant when serving

Moved to the area not long ago and hadn't found a chip shop that I really loved until I tried this one. It's in a whole different league. The chips are always amazing. Perfectly crispy yet still melt in your mouth and the battered sausages are 100% better quality than any other chip shop I've been to (and being a true foodie I've been to alot) lol only other food I normally eat are the saveloys which are also good. My new regular now. Love it!

Tried to go several times but it's always closed?? Went in and was sorely disappointed. Chips aren't nice and could do with much better quality of food!!

Utilizamos una vez a la semana y después de haber probado la mayoría de las tiendas locales Chip éste ha de ser probablemente nuestro favorito. Es siempre bien atendido y te sirven rápida y eficientemente. La variedad de comida que ofrecen es bueno y volver una y otra vez como las patatas fritas son siempre cocinado a la perfección ... Los niños también es mi favorito "fish and chips" en la zona, así que no puedo estar equivocado!

Muy bueno y patatas fritas de pescado, mi esposa es muy exigente en materia de higiene y la frescura de los productos, estar tan lejos del mar que es difícil de encontrar tiendas decentes de pescado. Hillcrest es predominantemente una muy buena pizzería con hojaldres pescado fresco 9/10 veces y siempre está muy limpio.
