Hilden Manor Beefeater in Tonbridge and Malling

Great breakfast deal on a Sunday morning. I pop in with the kids. Kids eat free deal is great and easily compeates with any cafe.

Loved it, food was great, staff were polite and friendly and helpful and professional

Just had meal for 2,waited nearly 10 mins to be seated as nobody came to the front stand. Was nit told coke was refillable , the table we were given had cracked and ripped seats so asked to move. Nice food , but when given bill not told service charge was added and we left a cash tip. Very annoyed didnt notice until came up on banking app when i got home.

Not good very long wait and burger was taken off the bill as it was so dry.

Haven't been here for six months or so. Perhaps it was a bad day, but it was quiet, so I could understand if it was busy and understaffed, we were celebrating my dad's birthday, my starter was missed, and then my daughter's main course was missed. It eventually turned up when we had all finished our mains. So it ruined the event as my mum got upset, which then upset my dad. They did not charge for my daughter's main, but I would have rather paid and had a pleasant meal. So a very disappointing experience.

Went here for a meal, cause I saw they did a vegan version of Hunter‘s chicken. My vegan bacon was highly overcooked and really tough to cut, but because it was nearing the end of night, I was told I’d just have to leave it. Other than that, the night was amazing the food was brilliant and the server was lovely. Was kind of disappointed that I didn’t get to enjoy the meal to it’s full extent

Food was great but service was awful. Almost an hour before we saw the waitress to order drinks etc. There were only 3 tables in use when we got there so no need for the delay.

Food was excellent but seated near a table with a large family and it was difficult for us to have a conversation because of the level of noise. We were not told our drinks were bottomless either which made them expensive. I assume we were supposed to know this but it wasn't apparent until the bill arrived.

Awful service, very rude server, apparently if you make a booking doesn't actually mean you have reserved a table and they can decide not to give you a table when they are too busy (with 5 tables) won't be going getting, very disappointed

Only half full but the three front of house staff claimed to be very busy. Waited 5 minutes standing up to be shown to a seat. The food was fine and as ordered. It came within 15 mins of ordering. The party on the table next to us said they had to wait for an hour. Customer service was poor as they avoided catching your eye, we literally had to flag them down to get attention.

Food was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. We recommend the meat dishes - steak, burgers, roast dinner. Plates all cleared!

Food tasted ok but service was extremely slow!

Family treat. My dinner was tasty but the portions are so small now!! About 8 chips, one dollop of coalslaw and a average size piece of chicken ... not really worth the money £15, as we had to wait nearly an hour. My grandaughters burger was a small bun, not enough for a growing girl. Service was good. I wont be rushing back.

Arriving at 1:30 p.m., it was not busy at all. I ordered my son's drink and lunch first because I was still deciding which steak to have. The waitress came across me and told me that if she found out I drank my son's drink, she would not let me have a refill. Excuse me, I was planning to order one for myself too. That was so rude to customers. 😡 Then I had to wait for my food for nearly 45 minutes. The rump steak was tough, not juicy, just like rubber. 🤢 There was no service at all. I asked for some custard sauce, and it never came to me. It was just an awful experience for us. 😤

Food pretty standard, nothing to write home about, and hot desserts weren't very hot! Service ead great though, and it's a nice place. So if you aren't looking for great food, but something to satisfy your hunger, it's OK.

Too expensive for warmed up wholesale food

Food was ok for the money, service was poor considering they weren't busy, waited a long time to be seated, had to ask someone to take our order then waited far to long for our food. Didn't bother with a sweet as I don't think I've got that long to live! Won't be returning!

The waiter/waitress staff are very good and attentive (to the best of their ability, under c.r,ap ownership - hats off to them for staying working there) AND its a nice space to be in!... BUT, and its an enormous BUT - they are working under atrociously bad owners who should NOT even be there, because quite simply, they couldn't run a primary school egg and spoon race... ...We have been eating at the hilden manor on and off, over the past 20 years and 80% of the time, service is slow (because the owners just don't give the restaurant enough budget to staff the place) We might have an 'ok' experience with a discount voucher, then go back another time, and it's the complete opposite... Don't get me wrong, providing I walk away thinking I've had a great meal, I don't bother too much about the cost (within reason) BUT, I have come to realise that the possibility of it being ok here, simply isn't worth even risking now... If you are sometimes prepared to wait an hour for food, for there to potentially be at best, a very small chance of it being served as you ordered (steak) you'll be fine...BUT because the whole place is under staffed (and, let's face it, the so called chefs have probably just passed a course in cooking toast, badly, so no chance of cooking a steak to even 1% of its potential), you'll probably find yourself passing your hunger stage and bu,gg,ering back off home for a slice of toast... I chatted with the very nice manager who aired their diplomatically, and understandably, frustrated opinion over the matter, and further realise that the Hilden Manor is up for sale... ...GOOD!!!! Hopefully someone with the ability to run the place well, with the neccesary managerial skill set, will buy it and make it into a fantastic eatery!!! UNTIL such time, there is no chance, whatsoever, I will be going back there (not even if they paid me double the cost of the bill in cash) Such a shame, I grew up in Hildenborough and love the village, it's an embarrassment for this place to even try serving food currently...

Great food for the price. Generous portions. Nice character. Next door to the Oast Theatre, who do some great plays if you want to make a night of it! Good range of vegetarian and vegan food too.

Go to place for breakfast now. Good food cooked to order, all-you-can-eat style, speedy service at a good price

Staff were great but the food was shocking. The garlic bread was cold and soggy The cod and chips were vile no fish just over cooked batter, chips so over cooked zero potato in them. Wish I had carried on driving past Will not be coming back. Not worth the money

Very nice place overall. Good parking and friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Unlimited tea/coffee/ cereal and you order your hot food- I like how you can pick what you want rather than it being set. If you're tall watch out on the doors. Especially as you go in as they are quite low. They could do with more tea and coffee stations as could be a bit of a queue. Overall HIGHLY RECCOMEND 👍

Didn't eat just drinks. Too many pints not pouring , bar full of empty glasses could do so much better

Server quite miserable 😕 Definitely NOT child friendly, there is a huge area outside just full of too many tables, could clear some out if the way to create a space for the kids to run around. Toilets 🚻 no paper or soap in any of the ladies 🤔 disabled toilet blocked. Not a great experience ☹️

We chose to visit this beefeater for the first time. It wasn't a planned event just the 3 of us. I didn't book a table but we were able to get in as it was early evening. I wasn't overly happy with being offered the seats near the door to an almost empty restaurant, I am a big man and had to squeeze into a both that the seats don't move. I almost left at this point.!! We endured and ordered 2 rib eye steak meals and 1 surf and turf. My son had his medium rare and was delighted my wife also asked for medium rare but found it over done as the ribeye steaks were on the thin side. I had an extra side of onion rings and was not disappointed. We ended the night with two ice cream deserts both were what they claimed to be and were enjoyable. So with regards to the food I was satisfied. However the restaurant was not busy and it took 15 minutes to get a refill for my sons unlimited coke ! And for a 2nd glass of wine we had almost finished the deserts before the drinks arrived at the table. I was about to tell them not to bother because it would mean we all sat there waiting for my wife to down a large wine. The excuse was the bar was busy. I checked 2 customers and the barman was on his phone. Also 3 staff the restaurant side standing waiting, one has to wonder why one of the restaurant staff couldn't get the drinks they were not rushed off their feet. Spoiled what was an enjoyable meal out shame really not sure it's worth the journey for a return trip.

Great food, great price, great time

I decided to give a beefeater another chance as this was a different area from the horrendous experience I had near Croydon and my friends booked it. This one definitely had better food, but nothing to shout about. It took 1hr 40mins for the food to come even though it wasn't busy. The waitress was friendly enough but my experience here still hasn't changed my mind on the beefeater. I wouldn't rush back and wouldn't only go if it was the last option.

A pleasant place to eat, staff were very happy and cheery, if it wasn't for the fact that we stood there for 5 mins waiting for a table I would have starred higher.

Waited an 1hour and 20 mins for food. Wasn't the best. Staff was rude, patronising about what i was ordering and my allergy. Never came over. Waited 20 mins just to pay! Worse atmosphere. Table was booked in advance, so why take that many tables if your under staffed? Do better.

A fabulous meal with the grandchildren - enjoyed by all! Great value, superb food, warm and welcoming. Totally recommend. The staff went over and above for us to the point of having to find (in the rubbish) my Grandson’s dental retainer which he had wrapped up in a paper napkin 😳

Portion sizes were mixed. The fish and lasagne were fine but the burgers were more akin to childsize. Service was good but slow, there were only 2 waitresses and really could have done with a 3rd for the amount of people in the restaurant.

Really enjoyed my meals and the good customer service 👌. My companions really loved the place. I got to redeem my 40% off Easter voucher which was super amazing. Thanks Beefeater family you never fail to impress 👌✌️

Average food and too long a wait for someone to show us to our table. Just "Ok" at best.

Me and my 2 children went to the hilden manor as its our favourite place. The lovely young lady, Millie, who served us was absolutely lovely. Prompt, very polite and helpful. Even when I said about my meal not being quite as good as it usually is. She apologised and was very understanding. The food is normally great so I didn't like to say anything. She is a fantastic waitress. Credit to the company. Well done Millie and thank you. I hope you see this too.

Lovely server. Tasty food. We attended as a foursome - mum, dad, daughter and granddaughter - We were all chatted to individually whilst our order was being taken. Delicious food arrived promptly and was nice and hot. We indulged in desserts and can thoroughly recommend the Creme Egg Sundae. Very naughty but VERY nice. Will try to visit again soon as the atmosphere and servers were great.

Went in for an early pint (12pm). No one around so went into the restaurant and the staff member said they would be 5-10 mins before they could serve us because they were clearing the breakfast tables away. We walked out. Surely it’s better to take 2mins to serve a customer and then go back to clearing away to make a sale than to lose a sale. Disappointed with the service. Will go to the half moon in future- friendly, helpful and customer comes first

The service was average at best. The staff didn’t seem happy to be there. The food was less than average. Cold and tasteless. It was a shame. I like to support local businesses but I will not be returning.

Pork ribs were spicier than before and we didn't like it at all because The marinade was changed and this was not told to us, It's not mentioned in the menu either. After all, not everyone has to like spicy If you can change something about the food, You need to inform your customers before ordering Also we waited for our dinner for about two hours. It was a total disappointment after waiting so long. Previous services and food were better 👎👎

After a 2 hour wait for food to arrive I was starving. I ordered the Bbq pork ribs... when it arrived I was very disappointed. A first bite of my pork ribs tasted so spicy it burnt my tongue and lips... I thought I was mistaken so took another bite after a drink of water, same thing happened the waitress was very kind and after speaking to the chef found out that they changed the marinade recently and there has been many complaints about the ribs. A man from the table next to us also confirmed to the waitress that you can tell the difference, and that he doesn'tmind spice. I've had ribs here many of times. But today I was so disappointed after the lengthy wait just to go home hungry. The waitress did take the food away and was very apologetic and took the ribs off of the bill. However, I was really looking forward to food I've had previously there that I enjoyed. I will not be going back for pork ribs in future.

Weekday lunchtime and the restaurant was packed.... says it all, but a special mention for the 2 ladies that were holding the frontside fort on their own and still giving super service to every customer. Well done ladies!

Calamari was cremated. I had the surf and turf for my main… again, the calamari Was well over done. The two king prawns i got with the meal were like bullets.and the steak wasn’t the temperature i requested. There were 9 of us, two of them children. One child received his started almost seconds after the order was taken and the second childs didn’t come out until we were served ours. In my opinion, the children's mains were terrible. Basically, to wrap this up. We got there at 3:30 and left nearly two hours later without a desert. We gave up waiting. And it was probably half full

Had a table booked for 7:30 but they were closing at 9 that night due to as the waitress said only 3 staff members and the worst 3! Still the service was pleasant just the food the normal poor quality from a Beefeater

Great service, a few orders arrived with issues ie cold chips, wrong chips and steak not cooked as expected. Staff just wondering around in the kitchen without hair nets staff drinking from cocktail shakers all this whilst the restaurant and bar have customers.

Lovely place but always waiting to be served should not be somewhere for over 2 and half hours waiting.

This was dinner before going to a pantomime. The children's food was what you would expect. However, the adults were not up to a standard I would have expected for the price paid. It was busy and they could really have had more staff working which would have made the service better. Sorry to say that I would not rush back there anytime soon.

It's good food for a family meal with children, don't expect more than that. Good value for money

Had to wait one & half hours for food then had to send it back as cold. Nothing to do with being busy as there were six empty tables in our area alone. Very disappointed.

Friendly staff, very nice food, but was quite a long wait for both courses. Wasn't overly busy at the time we went, 1300-1545. In fairness we were a table of 16, but we'd all put our menu in prior to arrival.

Manager Hannah is friendly and very professional, food is great but would be nice to have option of potatoes and mixed vegetables.

The food was at maximum mediocre and this is because I don’t want to sound rude. Kids’ burgers - super dry, impossible to bite - they refused to eat it and they were right Kids’s fries - dry, too Corn - overcooked Pigs in blankets - 2 super tiny sausages (as big as my child’s pinky) Soup - my daughter said that it was ok-ish but now she is complaining about bad tummy cramps. Stake - rubbery, hard to chew Pork - super salty and full of fat We asked for salad and we ended up with fries. Peas - overcooked and cold Onion rings - super greasy The restaurant was completely empty but the waitress told us that next time she will not let us in without a reservation (family of 4: 2 children, 2 adults). The room was cold. We had to stay with our jackets on. We used to like this place but not anymore. I can only recommend the garlic bread. ☹️

Just had one of the best Blue Fillet steaks in ages ...cooked to perfection.Staff happy and working hard to make you evening enjoyable ,atmosphere great would highly recommend. One bit of advice ....book ! can get busy

Visited today , loads of empty tables but said they couldn’t serve us as no staff. Waited ages at reception desk for someone to come along and then rude member of staff came over with bad attitude and no apology ! Won’t be returning again after th is experience

We come regularly with family and are usually served by the lovely Jo. Again we were again tonight along side another young lovely waitress. Upon ordering I was disappointed to find sour cream was taken off the menu, and you could no longer have blue cheese dip with the chicken wings or steak (please bring this back) also the only steak sauce available was peppercorn, there should be more options. The steaks come and my kids was ordered rare but was served medium, the kids didn't mind, mine however was overcooked aswell the new one was lovely. I wasn't happy with the portion sizes of the prawns, £4.99 for two prawns is extortionate! This review is no reflection of the waitresses, they were brilliant as always and always happy to help!

Very poor service with very average food .

At the end of the day it's a Beefeater so the food is what you would expect and except for such a place. Atmosphere? Again ok, it's corporate but it's clean and well kept. The service was great, nice staff, attentive and pleasant. One of the better establishments of this type I've been in.

Short of staff but staff did their best to cover all the tables. Food was good, but have had better there. We were there for breakfast.

We (party of 4 adults) went to Hilden Manor last evening Saturday 14th October 2023 it was a really busy night the restaurant was totally full ( Helped along by Oktoberfest? ) There appeared to be very few staff on duty who were all rushed off their feet ! However they were all absolutely amazing!! They managed to keep their sense of humour and professionalism to the max They got the orders spot on and the food was great ! I would certainly recommend Hilden Manor and like to say a big thank you to the staff both front of house and kitchen 10/10

Excellent meals and drinks for 5 people, unfortunately understaffed on a pretty full Wednesday evening and could have done with one or two more, not their fault. Would have given 5 stars if we were able to be tended to quicker.

Never ate there due to no staff? What's happened to this great pub/ diner? Won't try again that's for sure. You can't run a successful business unless you have staff. Simple rule really.

I've been to a few beefeater, finally got a card sorted this time, what can I say , the 3 members of staff absolutely lively, friendly , professional but still able to have a sense of humour, nothing was too much , I'm a carer and they made sure doors were open and a.clear through way, offered help and assistance , the food was excellent, I liked that the chef came out and asked us the customers if food was ok as normally the servers get the negative _ positive feedback and its not there doing, I could praise these 3 all day and I'm deffo going back , I left a tip which is not a.thing I do regular but these 3 just made my visit 1st 9f.many now a.good relaxed one, I wish I got paid.more an hour as the tip would of been a bit higher than a fiver , thankyou and I hope head office see this and realise what good staff they have in the hildenborough beefeater xxx

When I came in, I’m a regular customer, the lady at the welcome desk told me or asked me if I made a reservation? I said no, she told me to make an reservation in the future she just had 7 people walked in and she will not allow me in in future if I don’t make a reservation? There were 6 tables who had people on one with the 7 very loud people but mostly doubles. Her name is Bekkie. I am never in a hurry, I always enjoyed my time spend here on my day off. I don’t think I feel comfortable to come here again. Also you got a new menu today so I was a bit lost but loved the food I ordered.

Went to the Hilden Manor on 13th September, at lunchtime, only one person on duty so service was really slow, to be fair she was working really hard to try and keep everyone happy, but we did not stay for a desert as it would have taken ages to come. Have to say that the service seems to be generally slow whenever we come here, another time our food had arrived way before any drinks order turned up again because they were short staffed, we also witnessed people waiting at the door to come in for ages because no one went over to see them in.

Food was lovely and presentation .always had great service from waitresses chatty and smiling. but this time waitress was rude when querying the bill.
