Hilal Restaurant in Sevenoaks

A total rip off, so overpriced…you aspect for some quality, but any festival food truck have higher quality. £7,50 for an appetizer composed of falafel & hummus for one( barely), very scarce, at least the falafel was good, the hummus as good as the ones sold on tesco, and £15 for a basic cheeseburger( horrible) that didn’t worth £5, I wouldn’t pay £5 for a dry old bum with an overcooked, dry, unflavored, and certainly frozen patty, served with and mediocre salad and processed yellow cheese ( sottilette kind)Horrible, horrible, bad and cheap ingredients, badly cooked and overcharged. I was charged £35 for that with one drink and 10% service . Total rip off.

I absolutely love this place, I've been coming here for 3 years and it's always been amazing, I recommend the chicken wrap, it's juicy, tender and wrapped tightly but it's for brunch/lunch only (12:00-15:00) and for desserts there's while a lot, but the one I go for it's the 'cheese cake of the day' it's creamy, delicious and it's with a raspberry drizzle. And one of the best things are the customer service because there so nice and so polite, I always have a chat with the man managing the place😄 I highly recommend this restaurant for people that like Turkish or just juicy/tender food❤️

I have lived in the Sevenoaks area for many years (and own a business in the local area) I drive past the restaurant everyday but I have never visited. This evening off the cuff I decided that I didn’t want to cook so my husband suggested dinner at Hilal. I called up and made a reservation and headed down. I am so disappointed that we have only just found this hidden gem. The staff were so welcoming on arrival and couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food was delicious! We sampled between the 3 of us multiple dishes and every single one was as good as the next. I will definitely be supporting this local business again and hope that everyone local continues to do so. Thank you again for making our evening so enjoyable!

Popped in on an off-chance on our walk. What a great gem of a Turkish cuisine! The menu was versatile. On top of that, there were house specials. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating! We enjoyed every bite of our food! Highly recommend and would definitely go back when in Otford!

This is a great restaurant for fantastic and friendly service and outstanding food. We visited as a young family of 4 on Friday, and took my dad with us the following night. We’ll be regulars going forward. Nothing but positive praise for this wonderful restaurant.

Went for a hike in the beautiful Otford, followed by some drinks in Hilal just at the end of the hike! The staff were absolutely amazing, some of the kindest people I’ve come across in my time in london. As we ordered drinks they brought us some authentic Turkish delight that was to die for! Their friendliness made our day! Honestly just felt so at home in the bar and didn’t want to leave, we had such a lovely day having some well earned drinks in the beer garden after the hike!

My walking used The Hilal as its meeting place yesterday, and it was a good choice. Although early, the service was very good and prices were very reasonable. The building is a piece of history, dating back, I would say at least 450 years. The low ceilings and wooden beams give the resteraunt a certain charm, and it also has its own water feature.

We recently dined at Hilal and had it was exceptional experience from start to finish. The meal began with a delightful selection of appetizers, which included a variety of traditional Turkish mezes. Each dish was bursting with flavor and showcased the rich culinary heritage of Turkey. For the main course, I opted for the lamb meat, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The lamb was tender, juicy. It was served with a side of fluffy rice and salad, complementing the meat beautifully. To cap off the meal, we were treated to a small selection of thank you sweets. These little confections were a sweet and thoughtful end to a fantastic meal, highlighting the restaurant's attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. Overall, Hilal offers an authentic and memorable dining experience. The combination of delicious food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone craving Turkish cuisine. Highly recommended!

I went to Hilal again this weekend with my dad I had a hot chocolate and really enjoyed it again I have enjoyed coming to Hilal with my dad I will for sure come again one of the days next weekend You do the best hot chocolates and cups of tea in the whole wide world as well I had a very lovely time there today My experiences at this restarant have been very good Your Hilal restarant gets another 5 out of 5 star rating

The outdoor decking was a perfect space, felt like I was back on holiday. The lunch was to tasty, the best halloumi salad I've had. My Son had a mixture to suit his needs. Very prompt, friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. A wide variety of food and drink was available and prices were good, reflecting the amount and quality. I highly recommend, the best place to eat in Otford.

I booked a table for 10 people to eat at Hilal. Unfortunately, it's a season where people get ill so sadly few people cancelled. I contacted the restaurant on the day before our dinner that it will be less of us and they messaged me back that it's totally fine. "Hiya! That's absolutely fine, thanks for letting me know" See you tomorrow. Then on the day, another person dropped out. It's totally not my fault that people get ill, but I was told off like a little kid by the restaurant "owner" as soon as we walked through the door. He said: "Your people are dropping off day by day" but he said it in a very nasty way. His waitress was totally clueless, she had no clue what soup of the day was and if they serve mocktails. Not a single smile for anyone the whole evening. The "owner" started clearing up our places before we even finished at around 6:30pm. Then when it came to paying, he said "Don't forget to pay for the service charge". I go out a lot and this is the first time someone reminded me to pay service charge, we always pay it if the service is right. I started a conversation with him about the poor service and he became very argumentative. He mentioned less of us arriving, he asked me where am I from, he stated one person only ordered a started (yes she did but she ordered 3 starters which are more expensive than one main), he told us we are still sitting there at 6:30pm and he closes at 7pm etc. I don't understand this kind of behavior, I think he was simply rude and all he cared about was how much money he will make and how quickly to get rid of us. Bearing in mind, nobody else was in the restaurant and he still made some good money on us. When Covid hit restaurants were crying for customers, now they have them and they treat them so badly. I won't be coming to this place again. I will wait until Otford Bull Inn reopens their kitchen and I will bring my regular group of 15 people over to the Bull as we are always treated there very nicely. Shame on you!

Really good evening, beautiful Turkish specials and great selection of wines and drinks. Service was very prompt, friendly and children were happy 😊. We felt very looked after. Would definitely recommend.

If I order a Mix Grill that costs £28 I expect a bit more than what I was served. It was tasty, especially the Kofte but there just waan't enough of it. Half a skewer of Lamb Kofte, 2 cubes each of Lamb & Chicken Shish and one Lamb Chop accomoanied by the smallest side salad I've ever seen and a tiny portion of rice. I asked the waiter for some bread to bulk and was charged £3.95 for a basket of plain Turkish Bread. The sauces were not homemade. The ketchup and mayonnaise on the table were the cheapest of cheap in the sachets. Peroni is £7.15 a bottle (after service charge). Honestly, I really feel like I've been robbed. I stopped at McDonalds on the way home and grabbed a Double Cheeseburger as I was still hungry. My experience was a disappointing one. Such a shame as they're in a prime location & the staff/owner is really friendly and genuine. I just feel I need to pre-warn people. I don't mind spending but on this occasion it wasn't good value or even value for money. What you see depicted cost £42.30. Not ideal.

Food was good. We had a Sunday roast with chicken and vegetarian Moussaka. Dog friendly restaurant with nice staff and relaxing music.

Well-prepared Turkish food but expensive. Expect to pay £40-£45 including compulsory service charge for a main course without bread and two drinks.

I recently had a reservation at Hilal Restaurant in Otford, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite double-checking the reservation through email, we arrived at the restaurant only to be told that our booking had been cancelled due to a supposed system error. This last-minute cancellation left us stranded in a small village with no alternative plans and no public transport available. The manager attributed the mishap to a system error but was unwilling to acknowledge the inconvenience caused. When we requested some form of compensation, the manager's response was disappointingly rude, and we were turned away without a resolution. The lack of professionalism and the manager's refusal to accept responsibility for the mistake has left a lasting negative impression. It's disheartening to have had our evening plans ruined, especially after looking forward to dining at this establishment for years. Despite providing an email confirmation for our reservation, the management failed to rectify the situation in a satisfactory manner. I strongly advise against dining at Hilal Restaurant due to the abruptness and unprofessionalism displayed during our visit. It's regrettable that a business with potential has fallen short in delivering a basic level of customer service. I hope this review serves as a cautionary note for others considering this restaurant for their dining plans.

5 stars for sure, I wish I could give more stars. Brilliant form start to finish The lovely gentleman even kept the place open whilst I waited for my Mrs just so we could have 1 round together ! I have nothing but love for this man. I believe his name is Saiz but don't hold me to that as I had a few lagers ! He deserves nothing but respect and great fortune 👏 I'm so lucky to live opposite 'recently moved' He will have my costume definitely + Thank you all ❤️

Didn’t book but greeted with a friendly smile by the owner and shown to a table. The food was fantastic, hot succulent chicken with a nice side salad and rice, washed down with a Turkish beer.

We had a lovely family lunch, hot and cold mixed mezes, falafel, mixed shish and beef burger. All delicious and generous portions with great service. Hilal is our favourite place for family get togethers.

What a disaster! Good welcome and drinks served promptly. Food order taken and served after 25 mins, after that bill was brought to the table which we didn’t ask for , also it wasn’t our bill. Requested dessert menu and had to get it myself table still not cleared from first course. Had the audacity to chuck £5+ service charge. Not impressed and not going back!

After reading some good reviews we chose to meet here for a family lunch/ get together. It was quiet , even for a Tuesday lunch. Though all the meals were nicely cooked and tasty, there wasn't anything special and the prices seem steep compared to similar quality meals at other local pubs/restaurants. Service was good and the restaurant is set out well but at the price I can get better food and more choices nearby.

Amazing food, best kebab in the local area. I’ve had takeaway kebab from lots of places in the local area (from Sevenoaks to meopham) but this place wins hands down. More expensive yes but the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. Plus it was a nice touch for the manager/owner to throw in some extra freebies (which also tasted delicious). Will be coming back soon!

Nice service and lovely atmosphere but unfortunately the food was terrible and super over priced. I went with my family for a Sunday roast, I'm a massive meat lover but I couldn't finish one slice of my meat, it tasted like it came out of a package. Very overpriced for low quality food. We've paid the same we would pay for a Sunday lunch at a top steak house in Covent garden

We always pop into Hilal whenever we're in Otford, as it's a nice clean and friendly establishment. Ces always gives us a friendly welcome, the food is really good, reasonably priced, and it's nice to have a different selection as the menu is a nice...

Lovely - always very friendly. Just discovered that they even have another hidden patio at the back with umbrellas! Even dog friendly. Pretty inside and out.

We dropped in after a walk and had an excellent meal in a lovely restaurant. The dips starter we shared was filling in itself, just what we needed, before the seafood and rice main we we each had. All delicious. We will be back.

Best place to eat in Otford with lovely atmosphere, interiors are amazing the service is wonderful. Plenty of outdoor seating. The food is prepared fresh , we had chicken shish and couldn’t resist to order more! The bread served with that was so good and fresh. My 5yo enjoyed his time and loved to visit the little herb garden at the back of restaurant! Sez showed him fresh plants of sage, thyme, mint etc. We loved it! Would be our go to place for Turkish food! The best Turkish food!

Tge staff here was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very effective and well worth travelling for. Never had meal there , but I should highly recommend you/ I should try it . Also Sunday meals as well.

I had a great evening at Hilal the other evening - even on a Thursday , there was a busy trade. The food was delicious and meat very tender and flavourful. I started with the mixed meze and they were all fresh and tasty. I was also pleased to see they have a 5 star hygiene rating for scores on the doors which I always check before going to a place , a good indicator of the standard to expect. The staff were extremely friendly and we felt valued by coming along. I definitely recommend ⭐️💫

I had a really lovely experience At this restaurant, the Turkish food was amazing and the service was incredible, lots of little attentions to detail and good for kids. Only thing I would say is that for the kids portion £7.50 plus 10% service for a very small portion of shop bought fish fingers and chips is really steep (technically £8.25) which is more than an actual fish and chip shop adult portion and lacked veg/balanced diet perspective, without this it would have been 5 stars all round. Me and my partner had some of the best Turkish food I’ve ever had, I thought the adult portion sizes were generous and tasty. Service and attention to detail was very good, I really liked the hospitality. If the prices for kids food were more appropriate, this would be our go to place x

A gem of a restaurant. Consistently excellent. Any sauces enhance the dish rather than smother it, so the high quality of the ingredients is evident. I had the sea bass and it was absolutely delicious - the best I have ever eaten. We always go there when I visit a friend who lives in Otford - wouldn't go anywhere else. I've tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. Love the place!

Went in to this restaurant for a coffee not a soul in there waiter brought me my coffee then I decided to have a bite to eat,asked for menu when it came could not believe extortionate prices but thought I'd better order something as I'd asked for menu so ordered halloumi wrap 10.00!! Off went waiter about 5 minutes later wrap appeared,just a wrap on a plate no salad bits nothing could not believe it!! Went to pay the bill they slapped a service charge on 14.30 for coffee & basic wrap won't be going back no wonder there were no customers in there!

Here we have a hidden gem, that serves the finest Turkish cuisine delivered with excellent customer service.. The restaurant caters for all, with meat, fish, vegan & kids meals.. Great place and advisable than Sally's tearoom across the way. Choose the cheesecake or chocolate fudge cake as both are delicious. We go here after swimming for a hot drink and cake. Service is always attentive and the quality of food and drink is excellent. No complaints and will return for a meal.

And what's not possible is to charge 10 pounds as service money. Not experienced in England and Scotland.

We visited Hilal by default last month - we had booked dinner for 6 people in the pub opposite and when we arrived they said the kitchen was closed - they did not think to call and let us know! I spotted Hilal was open...
