A proper local pub with real atmosphere. Log fires and now ceilings. Gourmet food it is not but proper pub food with loads of vegetables. Beautiful in the summer to sit outside.

Completely agree with the consensus, this cosy country pub is a little gem. A few classic ales and a simple but nice menu. Playground out back in the fields. Really lovely setting.

What a fantastic old fashion pub. Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, beautiful toasty open fire. Definitely book if you're wanting a Sunday roast, you won't be disappointed the food is amazing, freshly cooked to perfection. Humongous Yorkshire pudding, which is always a winner. Rounded off with a delicious dessert. Toilets are incredibly clean too. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely local pub and great value. We had a table for 7. When we arrived it was so sunny and warm that we sat outside. A nice lady staff came out sand to our orders though you were supposed to order at the bar. The laugh was when she served our drinks through a window where we were sitting. The food was brilliant. A chicken Sunday roast was only our £13, lamb or beef roast was £14, which was also delicious and filling. There is a car park round the back of the pub though can be tight. Or park outside on road which we found easier. The pub is situated in a lovely village and three a a green across the road. Lovely seeing for meal.

A nice looking pub with tables at the front of the pub to sit at in the sunshine; no garden though. Dog friendly where they supply free dog bowls to give your pet a drink. Service could be better. When it was my turn to be served, the lady that had been serving decided to look out of the window and try and work out what table some customers were sitting at. She never did anything about it but just stood there looking and ignoring me. The younger lady however was polite and kind and served me with a smile. Worth a visit if you are in the area but you may have to wait.

Very disappointing. 3.45 on a Sunday on a bank holiday weekend and despite Food Served All Day sign outside we were told kitchen was closed, even for bar snacks, despite folk 5 minutes earlier being able to order. Gin & Tonic served without lemon. Not a smile to be found at the bar. Nice village green setting though and cozy inside. Decent house ale

Courteous service. Good food at very reasonable prices. My southern fried chicken burger was perfectly cooked; crunchy breadcrumb coating, tender & succulent meat. The fried were also perfect - crispy outside, fluffy inside. Perfectly poured Guinness, tasted great and not served extra-cold (which I hate). Lots of locals in, who gave the pub a friendly "village living room" feel.

No nappy changing facilities in a 'Family' pub. Great food. Well refurbished. British Toilet Association advises that for every 10,000 people using an area, there should be at least one unisex baby-changing facility. Alternatively, changing units should be provided in both the male and female washrooms. Vertical baby changing table and horizontal baby changing tables save on space, ensuring the units can be easily folded away when not in use. Nappies cannot be treated as general waste. Under the 1990 Environmental Protection Act sanitary waste must be disposed of via a licensed operator. You will also require clearly marked nappy disposal bin, and must keep all documentation of your sanitary waste disposal practices for a minimum of two years. If parents of young children are regular visitors to your establishment, providing changing facilities is also a Health and Safety consideration. It is reasonable to assume that parents will at some point need to change their child, and if there is nowhere safe to do so, they might be forced to make use of whatever space is available. Installing unisex facilities is an important step in limiting gender discrimination. All too often, fathers are faced with the choice of avoiding going out alone with their child, or risking being unable to find anywhere to change them.

This was a lovely find in Ide Hill. Typical English pub with a huge log fire. We just had bar snacks, prawn tempura, breaded chicken and lightly dusted whitebait all served with a choice of dip and they all were delicious. Beer and Sauvignon Blanc went down a treat. Sort of pub you walk in and all the locals go quiet and stare at you and make you feel awkward. On the plus side they have a huge open log burning fire place but I think some background music may help make it feel a bit more inviting to people on their first visit and create an atmosphere.

Quaint pub in a lovey small village. Nice welcoming fire place and bar area…. It’s not a huge place so You may have to book on Sunday’s … probably wise. dining area is ok, shame it isn’t more like the bar side with more character or a fire on. I’m sure on a nice warm day would be nice infront of the pub- which serves as the beer garden as behind is a very park and public playing field. Oh yeh good was ok / just had light food whitebait/chicken strips etc -

One star feels generous. Totally understand that things are difficult, but this place is atrocious. Waited a good 50 minutes for disappointing starter; the beef with the roast tasted tough. The staff were rude, the owner told another customer who’d complained about not receiving his drink whilst he was eating his food that he didn’t need it as he’d finished. Wouldn’t ever go back.

Perhaps one should not be surprised to find high quality Malaysian food in Kent but I was! We didn’t take photos of the items but greatly enjoyed the king prawns with sambal sauce, Malaysian fried noodles with chicken and prawns, Thai Tom Yum soup with prawn and egg fried rice. Everything was packed securely and ready for quick pickup. Prices very reasonable and service friendly and courteous. As a traveler in town to visit Hever Castle I can only hope to return someday 😅🇺🇸
