Highlands Tandoori in Fareham

Originally was going to take away,as they were empty when we arrived we ate in. We live in waltham chase but rather drive the distance because the food is always good and hygiene rating is a 5*.friendly guys too.

Its a hard review this. Such a warm atmosphere with such fantastic friendly engaging staff. But it saddens me to say that the kitchen clearly cant cope with busy nights. An hour to recieve anything ordered after poppadums! Scribbled hand written bill with extra undisclosed charges and all for a 'reasonable' meal. Decent flavoured currys to be fair but such dry meat. Some mistakes/mis communication on orders and charges. A big shame because I enjoyed my evening and the flavours but sometimes you just have to be honest with whats not right.

Food was nice but much less of a choice since I was here last.

Tonight my wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time. The service and staff were great and the food was amazing. Don’t understand why some people have written such poor reviews. TOTAL UNFOUNDED, the food was well presented, tasty and plentiful. Will definitely be going there again and again.

We had a lovely meal on 3rd of August '24 with family. Thanks Raj, for the attentive service and great flavorsome food. We will definitely knock on your door again.

Best mixed grill main I have ever tasted! Beautiful lamb briyani rice, and starters! Great customer service. Definitely recommend.

I have never tasted curries so bland in my life. For a dish that is supposed to be full of flavour it was the complete opposite. For a second, I thought I had covid again and lost my sense of taste. But no, a glass of water has more flavour. Even the chicken dishes were gristly and chewy…yuk. Messaged them to complain, only to be ignored. There are so many nicer Indians near by. Go to them instead of this one… avoid unless you want a tasteless and extremely bland meal

Excellent food with excellent customer service

Great place to eat. I booked a table of 6, when we got there 2 more wanted to come, they were very accommodating even tho they were nearly full. Managed to get another table in. 👍 food was great on-time and all 8 of us had no complaints. Staff were great. Complimentary drinks at the end. Will defo come again and thanks to all at Highlands Tandoori.

The Highlands Tandoori is one of the best curry houses I've been too. The food is consistently brilliant and the service when eating in is always great. Parking is immediately opposite the front entrance and with disabled parking also. Alcohol is served at the restaurant.

I come here all the time with family it is so good and chicken Tika masala is banging. All staff are so kind and helpful. Hope this helps.

Absolutely love coming here for dinner! Delicious food and fantastic service. It's a favourite of ours! No photos as we just can't wait to eat when dinner arrives.

Really enjoyable evening. Catered for 15 of us for a retirement meal. Fabulous food, quick service, would go back.

We were told to hurry up when we booked a meal at 9pm after working late being told the kitchen closes at 10pm. When we arrived we were told to order quickly and I said I'm mot paying for a service being a first time customer if I have to rush eating dinner. The attitude from the staff was disgusting. I'd strongly advise to never support a business who treats their potential new customers like that. It's disrespectful and no need for it.

We arrived this evening after driving from Portsmouth to be told we need to hurry up and eat our meals and food before we even ordered and the attitude towards this staff member was discussing. You don't talk to a potentially paying customer and a new one at that with the disrespectful attitude. I would recommend people not to eat there or support a business who treats new customers this way.

Lovely food and staff great service and really tasty food and plenty of it, only draw back was tge last few times we've been a lonely old lady with a red hat keeps talking to us when we're trying to have a nice evening

My go to indian friendly staff food is delicious definitely worth a visit.

Even when quiet it's a good atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Very friendly waiters/staff. Food is of high quality and always hot and good portions.

Food isn't halal, The Manager told they are halal but they buy meat from any vendor because they are cheaper and they don't confirm whether it slaughtered Islamically

Best curry in Fareham. Worth collecting (they don't deliver.) seriously, once you've been here, nowhere else in town will be good enough. Updated 30/12/23 - went for a meal to eat in. Fantastic as always. Staff were great.

Went on a Monday so was very quiet. But excellent food and friendly staff.

Arrived to get a table as they are showing they are open til 11pm went in at 21:55 and was told we could have a table but would need to put an order in quick as they close in 30 to 40 minutes even though it says on their premises they are open until 11pm

This is the first time we had been to this restaurant. It was quite quiet but it was only 7pm on a weekday. The food was good , good service from friendly staff . An enjoyable evening

This was and impromptu meal for my partner and I. In fairness the food was nice. However, it’s massively overpriced and the staff rush you. We started with the obligatory popadoms and accompaniments and were badgered 3 times by 3 different staff to make an order. We then ordered a starter and main, 1 pint and 1 Malibu & Coke (£15). No sooner had we finish the starter, the mains were thrust in front of us. Half way through the main meal, a staff member stood over me and started to clear away some of the empty food dishes. This made me quite uncomfortable, the restaurant was not busy and this could have waited until the end of the meal. The bill then came to £75… The food was fine but at that price I will not return.

Chicken dishes over cooked and really chewy to the point couldn't eat it. Sauce was amazing though! Left waiting to pay bill over 15 minutes not acceptable. Was really looking forward to a sit down in a while but extremely disappointed 😞

A wonderful takeaway. Excellent food, first class. I had a chicken Phall curry which was amazing. I am a huge fan of very spicy curries and this meal didn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend.

Been here a couple of times for a takeaway curry when I've been over for an afternoon. Food is delicious, not had a bad experience here. Fair pricing, staff are always friendly on arrival. Can see me being a regular patron whenever in the area

Went with a group of work colleagues as they like it in there for the food and the parking. Very limited dairy free dishes offered chicken biriani and saag aloo, staff not sure of menu and what's got dairy in or not as a work colleague had a dish no dairy in, I am not up on Indian cuisine with what has or has not got dairy in as its a treat to eat out. The rest of my work colleagues enjoyed their choices from the menu along with the food.

Not a busy night midweek, but the food was good and average price. I would return.

Met with some family for a meal and thought we would try this restaurant really wished we had gone elsewhere. The food was bland and tasteless. My mum ordered a prawn curry and only found 3 prawns. None of us ate our food and when we explained to the waiter that we were not happy his response was well nobody else has complained about the food. He was dismissive and rude. We ended up leaving hungry and disappointed. I would never eat here again or recommend it.

We ventured away from our normal Indian restaurant to try this one. Food was OK, just found it all a bit bland. Service made up for the food. Don't think I'll rush back.

Fantastic as usual, one main dish was a little too big to be able to be finished by one of the party but only the amount not taste. Guys were very attentive. It was a little quiet but early doors, please continue to thrive best one around the area.

Went in for dinner tonight. Asked for a child's portion of korma got given and was charged for a full portion. Told them I was allergic to peppers and was told that there was nothing on the menu I could have that had a sauce with it as all sauces had peppers in it. so went for the kebabs. Awful lamb tough and the rest was very dry. We were not asked if our meals were ok. Service was poor at best. A very expensive evening for a mediocre meal. Will not return.

Had a very nice meal last night. Kebab butty (not a sandwich!) and a lamb naga with mushroom rice. Very tasty indeed.

We had an excellent family meal. We were early in the evening so quite quiet, service is fabulous and the quality of the food is brilliant. Plenty of choice and good value.

Can only say this was OK, the place is nice enough & didn't have to wait too long for the food, my only complaint would be..... I've frequently had better. The poppadoms were over done & too thin, the keema rice was great but the tandoori chicken Morag was not brilliant, was done to the heat I wanted but didn't tickle the taste buds & the sag also was tasteless. Not the worst place I've been to by far but was expecting better.

Long standing eatery with parking in the adjacent roadway outside. All meals are prepared on site and are available for take away or sit down. There is a small bar area for diners, awaiting meal collection or available seating. The menu is varied and can be adapted to taste on request. A rare place in the surrounding area in which to enjoy a sit down meal.

Staff were happy to serve us a fantastic array of Indian food. The bill for two adults and 2 youngsters was a tidy sum. Alcohol for one and soft drinks for the kids too.

We booked a table for 12 and pre ordered as it was a birthday celebration and wanted a nice evening, we weren't disappointed. Excellent service, lovely curries and well looked after.

Lovely curry restaurant came with friends & family, we all agreed it was very tasty, great flavours & very friendly staff, Beer ice cold.

Loved it I like none spicy sweeter food like Korma or Kashmiri but did not do Kashmiri so suggested another I havent tride and it tasted nice sadly cant remember name. The table was to small so offered us a bigger one if we waited a bit more we did. The staff was very nice and attentive all in all worth going and eating there.

Only really writing this review as I was so shocked by the fact that a couple of others had left really bad ones.. I fully understand that some people have bad days and staff sometimes make mistakes.. but the resteraunt I visited was so much better than the few bad reviews that I read... one even claimed that the good ones must be fake!! Personally I wonder if the bad ones are disgruntled competitors?... my wife and I had a lovely meal here and we are real people! Thank you...

Been using Highlands tandoori since it opened and have never been disappointed with the food or service, the whole team make us feel welcome and take the time to engage with the customers and their children, chef does an excellent job in the kitchen we will definitely be back

Probably the worst Indian we’ve had in a long time. The chicken was dry - none of it was hot, the dansak and Bombay potato were really bland. Really expensive for tasteless food Won’t be returning

3 people should only order 2 mains. Very generous and, for me, a Dhansak should be sweet, sour and hot - and it was. Excellent.

Another lovely meal and what a bonus for a Tuesday. Also very nice to enjoy good food without crazy calories, since the covid weight really must go. I can recommend king prawn shaslick. Delicious as well as healthy.

Fantastic food, I have tried about 15 different curries here and every one was cooked well, some I enjoy more than others ( obviously). I would recommend this place, try it out if you haven't already.

This restaurant is amazing, goes above and beyond on customer service. Can be busy at times, but I know my food is always fresh. They also have food that you can request that is not on the menu. Raj is amazing, he also cooks in the kitchen. I am mask exempt and I have never been questioned by Raj and his team. Even through this pandemic, the team have always gone above and beyond to keep their team and their customers safe. To me, I never get the service I get here in an English restaurant. The food:- I have tried a lot of the food on the menu, never had a bland dish, always full of spice and flavour. They even cater for allergies, which to me is very diverse. Keep up the good work Raj and his team.

The chicken was awful, tasteless rubbery lumps, we could not eat it. The sauces and dishes had no flavour, very bland, and completely the opposite of what Indian cuisine is about. I will never use this place again, and I encourage everyone else to go elsewhere. Unfortunately I only read reviews after our experience, and when I read the manager is aggressive and abusive if you complain, and that others have had similar quality, I decided to leave our experience as a review. Can only echo the good reviews before me. I'm a curry lover and this place is worth visiting. Good food, good beer and great Indian restaurant table service. What's not to like. I'll be returning for sure 👍👍👍👍

Simply the best curry in Fareham! Excellent customer service and the food has always been tasty and served hot. Friendly staff who look after you well.

Food was very nice and standardly priced, everything came very quickly (was a bank holiday Monday night and not busy so maybe quicker than usual), me and my partner were very happy with everything.

Family reunion from various different cities so googled for reviews and found this place. The worst, watery curries that seven of us have ever eaten, to the point that we didn’t actually eat it. The pathia had zero taste, the pilau rice was yellow, the keema naan was lacking the keema….. you get the picture. The poppadoms were great, however they would be considering they were fried from a packet. The mint sauce was watery and filled with coriander. Just avoid. Literally, swerve this place as it’s rancid
