Hidden Gem Kitchen in North West Leicestershire

The food was ok. Although I have to agree with previous reviews that say prices for what you get is a little steep. I've seen the owners response in terms of ingredients, so I'll pay attention to that. We had a breakfast. One egg, one slice of thin cut back bacon, one chunky sausage, lovely button mushrooms or half a tomato, beans, one hash brown, and two halves of toast for £9.50. Service was pleasant and food made freshly. Ok, but not a must visit in my opinion.

Hidden Gem Kitchen is a great little local cafe. the owner is a trained chef and the food served at the cafe is usually great quality. the menu consists of cooked breakfast items, baguettes, paninis, omelettes, and salads. There are usually a couple of lunchtime specials available that change from week to week. The food is cooked to order. So there is usually a slight wait between placing your order and receiving your food. Different dietary requirements can be catered for including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. There is a wide selection of drinks including different coffees, different teas, hot chocolate, milkshakes, smoothies, and soda drinks. there is also a good selection of homemade cakes including a vegan cake and gluten free brownies. Afternoon tea can be arranged but needs to be pre booked. the cafe can also provide buffets and other forms of catering for small local events and businesses.

Nice cafe, good selection of food, friendly staff. Had the poached eggs which were nice.

We stopped off here for lunch while heading down the M1. Lovely fresh lunch and very friendly owners. Thanks guys.

A hidden Gem indeed. Its a small little cafe, one of the few in the area that has indoor seating and a toilet. It is cosy (four tables from memory) but the staff are friendly, the tea and coffee's nice. Oh and the Lemon Curd Cake was delightful. All cakes home made, apparently. Well behaved dogs allowed inside. Car parking along the road as there are no restrictions.

My grandad loves coming here and always buys a cake and a coffee.

Exceptional cafe, very friendly, delicious food, cakes and coffee - quality is way above the usual. I always make a special point of popping in whenever I'm passing, and looking forward to my next visit!

Great place for a lunchtime snack. Wife and I each had scrumptious paninis with super fillings, followed by a shared slice of lemon cake. Will definitely be visiting again.

Had a fantastic light lunch today at a very reasonable price. Friendly, efficient service, couldn't ask for anything better. The Lemon Curd Cake was the best I've ever tasted.

This is indeed a Hidden Gem ! Fabulous panini lunch with generous portions of excellent quality food - great tea & possibly the best chocolate brownie I’ve ever had. Beautifully clean, a very warm welcome & excellent service - well worth hopping of the M1 for a quick detour !

Really lovely lunch we are staying at a nearby hotel for a spa weekend. The food was amazing I had a special, halloumi and garlic mushroom salad. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was excellent food was just so tasty. Much appreciated!

Absolutely love it here, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is amazing. I tend to go 'off menu' as I'm fussy and they always try and accommodate my requests. And the best part is it's less than 5minutes from my front door ❤️

A really delicious breakfast. Eggs Benedict, cooked to perfection. A tiny cafe but offering good food and neat surroundings.

I took my Mum for afternoon tea as a birthday surprise for her and we could not fault it. The proprietor and his staff were very accommodating and the food was delicious. More than enough food for the two of us, the selection of Sandwiches and homemade cakes were yummy. What we couldn't eat we took home with us. Thank you for making my Mum's day so special for her.

Went for the Extra Special Afternoon Tea and it certainly was extra special! Lots of yummy food to eat which we nearly conquered but not quite! Ended up taking some of the cake home. Lovely, small and cosy place to eat and truly a hidden gem to find.

Owners are lovely. Great service and a nice place to stop for coffee, cakes or breakfast/ lunch. There's even a cooked to take home dinner option on Friday if you order in advance...

Excellent value and extremely tasty

I highly recommend The Hidden Gem Kitchen. First visit in the COVID secure world and I loved it. It's kept it's charm as a small family run cafe, while the clear screens, hand sanitizer etc meant it felt safe. The food was as delicious as ever - we had breakfast this time, a mix of veggie and meat eaters and we all enjoyed it. We booked over facebook messenger, which was super easy.

I have been going to this cafe for some years, in fact Hidden Gem is its third incarnation and I am still a regular. Martin and his staff are always welcoming and this place has almost become a home from home, so much so that I was very upset at not being able to eat there when the national lock down took effect. Happily, it is open again (albeit in a limited capacity), so I am able to enjoy the cosiness of this little oasis once again.

Fabulous takeaway afternoon tea, great selection of cakes and sandwiches, gorgeous loose leaf tea made into little bags, which was a great touch. They catered for our needs as vegetarians and I was impressed to be asked about any other dietary requirements, they cater for all. I was worried there wouldn't be enough for my family of gannets but it was really generous and great value for money. A lovely lockdown highlight. Thank you

Great cuppa at reasonable prices

Stopped here on our way to Bosworth. Smart little café that can provide a proper cappuccino, stunning milkshakes and, amongst other things, bacon sandwiches to die for. As well as this the friendly and helpful staff bring a personal touch to this lovely place. Perfect.

Fantastic place worth visiting today

Very nice personable 2 lady team, very good coffee blend, serves Breakfast til 2pm on a Saturday (or whenever people stop requesting it) and nothing is ever an issue, would highly recommend ths place if your passing by Kegworth village
