Hickory's Smokehouse Huddersfield in Kirklees

A lovely welcome, well trained staff, delicious food but a bit pricey for a hot dog. The human Psyche doesn't mind paying more for the delicious chicken but 13 quid for a hot dog! We all know what they are made of (yet still relish the taste) so why the price of a human kidney? I'd feel better paying 17 quid for the Brisket sub, honest.... but the child wanted the dog ...

Food is good , pricey though for a burger, slaw is terrible, need to add red cabbage and carrot service good , not happy they added a tip policy, which i never noticed

I went to Hickey's recently for a family meal and I can honestly say I loved the place. The food was great and the resturant was lovely. I think the cinema for the kids is great, my daughter loved going to watch the movie while waiting for food and between mains and desert. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Perfect for any occasion whether as a couple or family. Will definitely be going again

Absolutely delicious as always! The Smokehouse platter is just divine! Always amazing quality food, drinks, and atmosphere. Staff are incredibly attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Great environment with a top quality beer selection. A top choice for any occasion, and always delivers a 5* experience all round.

Great family friendly restaurant.

The place Is done up well in the style of a US smokehouse diner experience, however this resulted in it being very loud to the point of it distubing the meal. Service levels were excellent and food presentation and taste was good but a few of us had stomach upset the day after which was disappointing as it seemed to correlate with eating here (shared platter meal)

Had the smoked brisket and didn’t taste smoked at all was fairly dry too which was a shame was looking forward to that the most the best thing was the tater tot and the bacon bites

This was our first time visiting .We went on a Friday which we knew would be busy. Staff were still very good, excellent food. We will be back to try more .

Lovely place. Everyone had a super meal.

It was extremely loud with the live music, couldn't have a conversation even when sat upstairs. It was cold inside by the window and took 30 minutes for our initial order to be taken. The table next to us got their mains before their starters had even been cleared, put us off ordering more than one course. Probably wouldn't visit again.

Great tasting food well presented. Large portions too. We arrived and were offered a bottle of chilled water and a bag of popcorn. Then our drinks were ordered and we got the 2 cocktails for £12 offer. We got the mixed platter for one and the mixed platter for 2. Lage sausage steak that dropped off the fork it was so tender. Lots of flavour and a live singer. I would go again We really enjoyed it.

Love this place. I am a multiple-returning customer. The food is absolutely amazing, the Grape soda is outa this world!!! The service received here is 10/10. Can not revommend highly enough.Can not wait for the NFL event 🙌

Food was ok in general. The brisket was cooked very well but poorly seasoned so it tasted of very little. The chips were nice. Service was pleasant but a touch slow. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect from a chain.

What an amazing place to eat with family and friends..such a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service from the staff,who looked like they loved working there. Food was awesome, never had anything like it. We had the most amazing time there today, the grandchildren loved the cinema and we all had a great time. We will be back soon. Food was excellent and the service from Jamie Dunning was top notch where nothing was to much trouble for him . The atmosphere in the pub was superb. I will definitely be visiting here again

Had a very lovely dinner at Hickorys with my friend .Food was delicious . The waiter Jamie was very friendly and he had some very good reccomendations which we tried , it was the cocktail Gamechanger and the go big or go home burger . Lovely experience , will deffinitely come back .

The experience was amazing and food was delicious. Myself and my boyfriend was served by Jamie Dunning who was super fast and friendly. We were given a taster of brisket and it was lovely. My boyfriend even became interested in the NFL nights and we are looking to attend one soon. The food came super quickly and the service was excellent. Definitely reccomend going, the food was excellent and the staff are all very welcoming and friendly.

Food here is good with generous portions. The atmosphere is great - live music from. 7pm on Fridays but what really makes this place great is its staff. All were lovely. However,a special mention must go to John (the manager?). He made us feel so welcome, made a fuss of me (unasked and not in an embarrassing way) because it had just been my birthday and made my granddaughter so happy she didn't want to leave. A rare talent to make people feel so valued on such short acquaintance - thank you.

Absolutely Loved Hickorys , from the moment we sat down our waiter Blaine was so friendly , welcoming and attentive !! His customer service is excellent and couldn't ask for a better waiter !! Food was fab and service was quick with the food beautifully cooked and everything came out together. Thanks again for an amazing time Blaine honestly can't thank you enough for your brilliant service !! Would highly recommend and will deffos be coming back !!

We was looked after from start to finish by a lovely lovely lovely gentleman called Blaine!!! This guy went above and beyond and I mean above and beyond. What an amazing night with an amazing atmosphere. The food was 10/10...Perfecto🫶🏽... Will definitely recommend and be back very soon.

Absolutely loved visiting this place with the whole family for my son's 6th birthday. It was too rainy to use the outdoor play area sadly, but the kids were more than occupied in the cinema room with their free popcorn. Food and cocktails were divine and our waitor, Jordan, was absolutely awesome. If I could give one improvement it would be to have less people eating in the restaurant. It was packed, extremely loud and very chaotic, but other than this I couldn't fault it.

Best restaurant I have ever been too. My waiter Jacob was absolutely incredible.

Went for a birthday meal. The service was exceptional, from the gentlemen who greeted us through everything they did for us throughout the meal including the birthday donut for our son. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes grill/ burger/ chicken etc. Fyi I had the Bird and Beast burger In the photo .

Lovely place, my partner booked it and it didn't dissapoint, for starters we had a huge Pretzel with cheese and Garlic, then a triple stacked burger with cheesy chilli chips and my partner had the ribs, good size portions and as a bonus there was live singers, defo worth a visit and we look forward to returning.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere, staff and food here. This immediately became my favourite new place to eat. We went here for my birthday, and I hadn't heard of the place before, however I was really impressed! The food is fantastic and really interesting, with American style food that sometimes doesn't sound as appealing to English people, but it just works! Chicken and bacon on pancakes with maple syrup? Genuinely, shockingly amazing!

Hi, food was good along with the service but the carpark was not grit and we nearly fell over on ice. Also adding a tip on the bill isn't called for. A tip should be given out of generosity as a option

The first visit to this Hickory but have been to others. Have to say, they are all equally good. Popcorn while you wait is a great touch. Gets busy so worth booking a table. The cowboy steak was perfectly cooked, the Cajun rub not overpowering. My medium and my partner's rare were spot on!! The onion rings are a sight to behold. As a bonus, if you like your bourbon, they have the best selection including my favourite Angel's Envy. Sizeable parking, outdoor eating available, smoking shelter with heaters, great staff who are genuinely helpful!

Good example of Hickorys restaurant albeit the food no different to others. What lets this down, and seems common to other Hickorys is the attention to detail with the service. Examples, not getting the order quite right including missing side orders and slow service after main meal.

Nice food, friendly staff but very expensive we went for lunch but not again at the prices they charge.

I went on recommendation but was underwhelmed with the quality of some meats - I had the mixed meat platter for 2 sharing and some meats were fatty and covered in beans and sauce so you couldn't tell until you had it in your mouth ...

1st timer at Hickory's service was quick,staff were very friendly food was fan will definitely going back.

I'll preface this review by saying that one of my favourite restaurants of all time was Red's Barbecue in Leeds. Due to corporate takeover, it is now a shadow of its former self, so after reading positive reviews and being impressed by the menu and their talk about being committed to good high quality and authentic American BBQ (even serving a USDA cut of meat as Red's did as standard during their earlier days), I decided to give Hickory's a try. I came here for New Years Eve and the place was rammed, staff were working hard and there was a very busy feeling about the place. Our table wasn't ready at the time we booked for as the family located there was "just being served the bill," and we were advised to wait at the bar. After 15 minutes, we were shown to our seats. The drinks that we ordered at the bar were great, very good and creative cocktails and mixed drinks. Service was rather slow, but I'll chalk that up to it being so busy, and it seemed like the manager was working very effectively to keep things running smoothly. We had the Corn Dogs to start, which were great. My only wish would be for some more of the BBQ glaze that's on them. The mains, however, were a big disappointment for me. I ordered the Brisket, and was quite excited for it. It was my favourite thing to order at Reds and the menu description at Hickory's ("served warm not hot after being smoked low and slow") gave me hope that this would be a similar high quality. Unfortunately it was nothing close. The cuts were thin, dry and had barely a hint of smoke flavour. It was like eating roast beef. I wondered if the meat ahd been in a smoker at all except it had a red outer layer which implied at least some time in there. As a restaurant specialised as a smokehouse, the quality of the smoked meats should be much higher standard. My partner had the half rack of baby back ribs which was a lot better in flavour and very tender, however again missing the smoke flavour on the meat itself. We also had BBQ pit beans as a side, which were pretty good. The serving of the dishes was also pretty good, with pickled veg, a pretty good take on coleslaw and plenty of fries (although mine were underseasoned and there was no salt on the table). All in all, I had a good time and would try the place again, but my trust in their ability to serve quality smoked meats is greatly diminished, I'll explore the other parts of the menu.

Overall the experience was very good, good service, good atmosphere. We did attend on a Tuesday Lunchtime when it was very quiet so don’t know how the experience would be when it was busy. The food overall was very good, Brisket was outstanding. The pulled pork however was disappointing, it was very salty, don’t know if that was the norm or just over seasoning on that occasion

The food and the atmosphere were fantastic.

I went thinking ah its just another place that does ribs. Oh my god, we got the platter for 2. Everything had so much flavour. I was in heaven.

Really nice food shame one of the staff spilt something on one of my guests spoilt the night a bit.

Visit regular for drinks this place is spot on was served by will brilliant service very efficient all round a great place to visit keep up the good work

We went at the weekend for brunch to celebrate a birthday and had a fantastic time. The food and service was great as always. The birthday boy was made to feel like a VIP. Special shout out to Lauren on bar who made his day with a bespoke birthday milk shake.

Best food and the briskit is so good I love you get a free pourshion if you sit in front of chefs and hot dog is nice but briskit juicy it's good

This place is epic! Ridiculous how nice to food and team there are so kid friendly too like my 3 year old is just struggling too sit still but there's a cinema and popcorn and a wee park outside for after can't wait to get a baby sitter and try some of the adult drinks on offer !

We have been wanting to visit here for a while, finally got round too it and certainly dissapoint. The most Authentic American dining experience youll find outside the US. Service is great with free popcorn brought as you wait, the food is amazing with so much choice too! Plenty for kids too choose from, also a Fro Co station for kids (Frozen custard, never knew that was a thing but its good) so kids can add their own toppings too it, also an indoor mini cinema for kids. Theres an outdoor giant slide too but was too cold and dark for that, all the more reason too return in Summer and try the outdoor seating booths. you can even have a mini fire pit on your table and roast your own Marahmallows. Staff are so nice and friendly, and as it was Christmas time, the decor makes the place look just like something out of one of them American Hallmark movies. Great place, cant recommend enough. Live singer and cheap Cocktails Friday nights too.

The service was incredible. They really made me feel special for my birthday and the waiting staff (Eleanor) made jokes and really helped make the group feel at ease. I am already planning to go back again in the summer as I found out the venue is pet friendly in the outside areas 😊 Would 10000000% recommend the toasted marshmallows to share, definitely a highlight.

We visited Hickories for my birthday and left feeling very unsatisfied. My friends meals all came out and i sat a further 9mins after they started to eat for my food which okay i let that go. My friend then said her brisket was really dry and chose not to complain or eat it. We never saw our server again, we had to ask for drinks twice, i got up to get my own sauces and condiments. It wasnt busy so I dont understand the lack of table service? We were then given the bill and left for a further 18mins sat at our table again with no staff in sight to collect our payment so we chose to go to the bar and pay - ok. I then expressed to the manager how i felt upset and disgruntled on my way out at the service but didnt want anyone to get in trouble just improve on this for others at it was for my birthday. The manager apologised which i appreciated, took my email address and said he would be in touch with a means of apology. I stated again it was not moaning as such i just wanted to improve the experience for others as it is not 'cheap' and people earn their money etc. He had a joke and a laugh with me and said he appreciated the feedback and would send me an email...3 weeks later I have still not heard anything! I dont want a freebie, just a value for my money and a good experience next time, if there is one! I felt very let down woth the service and food quality had dipped since my first visit. 16/12/23 After my last visit not bieng what i expected, I was contacted my the manager Jon who was disheartened to hear i didn't have a great experience. He was extremely helpful and understanding and invited me back as he wanted Hickories to have the chance to change my opinion. I visited again this Saturday and I am so glad I did! From start to finish i had the most amazing evening like i had the first time i went. The food was absolutely delicious, cocktails were tasty and the atmosphere was great which was hugely down to Jon, Blaine and the team. From the food, christmas jumpers and positive working attitudes these 2 individuals in particular went above and beyond to accommodate us and give us a great night, they could not have done more! I never expected a 'freebie' or to get anyone in 'trouble' with a complaint I just wanted to have a good time and eat out with friends like i had done originally. All i can say is me and my friends had a brilliant time, great food and i will 10000% be going again!!! I hope to see Jon and Blaine (the dream team) again these 2 really are a credit to the Hickories Team in huddersfield!! Thankyou! x

Looks a bit like a kids adventure ground but actually has a great atmosphere.

The food is amazing, service has definitely improved since our first visit. Plenty to do for the kids to keep them entertained, the cinema room offers a safe place for adults to finish eating whilst checking periodically and play area.

Helpful staff but very busy. Portions definitely not American size, but food was good. Beer a bit on the pricey side, you should never have to pay much more than £4 for a pint of bitter or run of the mill lager . Over all not bad though.

It was a lovely place to celebrate my eldest daughter's birthday. Plenty of choice, the food was really tasty and the service was great.

Had the shearing platter, it was absolutely amazing The only thing that didn't make it 5 stars was one of the dishes was a bit dry but everything else was better than I expected. Highly recommend this place and the platter 👍👍👍

Fantastic food - all really great. The waiters and waitresses were lovely, very attentive and polite. The Christmas decorations were beautiful inside. There is a little play area outside for kids too. Will definitely return.

We've been here a few times since it opened, and the food is always superb. I tried the salmon today, and it was really nice ( apparently a new dish). Staff are very friendly, and the service is spot on. Highly recommended.

Service was a bit slow but the staff were friendly. The atmosphere was good, and so were decorations in the restaurant. The food was very overcooked and dry. And for the price the meat portions were a bit small. It was worth a visit for the experience but wouldn't go again.

We went for my daughters birthday, first time I've ever been to Hickorys but definitely won't be the last. The service was excellent, we had a very polite and helpful server, the food was top notch and very clean and child friendly restaurant (mini cinema for the children) Excellent evening, couldn't of gone better.

Multiple liecensing laws broken, for example, free pouring spirits, using 15ml and 30ml measurements. Wieghts & Measurements act 1985 Gin, rum, vodka and whisky Either 25ml and multiples of 25ml, or 35ml Yet this cowboy company thinks its alright to use the USA measurements, you might be a USA inspire smoke house, but UK Law still applies to you. As a side note, the management are creepy predatory indivduals
