Hickory's Smokehouse Huddersfield in Kirklees

I got the 1/2 pound brisket which was the driest toughest meat I’ve tasted and I pint of coke which was finished in a couple of mouthfuls due to a full glass of ice. And the tiniest portions aswell was more a la carte than American portions 😂. The mrs got Mac and cheese which she enjoyed to be fair and a cloudy lemonade which was quite tasty too. But all in all very very disappointing with how long we have been waiting to come try it, I only wish we would have waited longer. Don’t think we will be going again!!!!

Smokehouse platter is very easy to recommend, but be prepared to take some home with you!

Staff very friendly and efficient. We were seated straight away and were surprised with how quick the service was with it being a busy Friday evening. They had live music playing which was nice but wish the volume could’ve been lowered as it was quite loud and we couldn’t hear each other that well. We had the smokehouse platter for 2 which was more than enough and had a very tasty selection. We especially liked the baby back ribs and the pulled pork beans. We had the grape soda which was lovely and the cloudy lemonade which was very tart!

Quite a mixture of emotions here. Door staff were confused and a little meek, then the wait staff were at the other end of the spectrum, which was a little much (but it's American style so it fits). Starters were amazing but the mains were a little let down. I ordered the brisket which was supposed to come warm, but the other things on the plate (fries) were also just warm. Other little things stopped me from giving 5 stars. I would still recommend however, it is an experience

Poor portion sizes, voluntary tip already added to the bill when the prices are already more than the food and drinks are worth. Onion rings are terrible, brisket is dry. Disappointed.

My Sister & Brother in law (who is American) took me here. What an amazing restaurant. All American themed including American football on TV. There is a great choice of food and we all loved what we ordered. It was my Goddaughters 21st Birthday and they let her make a cocktail of her choice for free. Also a small cake and indoor firework after dinner. Excellent service, great food. We will definitely be going again 😊

Very nice food, chill and unique establisment.

Been here 3 times now and we have a good time, every time. I'm rating this on the 3 experiences I've had. The food is great, nice portion sizes and good value for what you get. Music is not overly loud and there's always a good atmosphere with a "buzz". They bring free popcorn and water to the tables before taking orders which is a nice touch. The waiting staff are always smiling and engaging, the staff in general are welcoming and friendly. The only thing that let's it down here is the service seems a little somewhat chaotic, in 2 of the 3 times we've been here we have been left without drinks and its difficult to grab the eye of a staff member as they are always so busy runningfrom pillar to post. Also once you have finished and want to pay & leave, this can be a lengthy wait too might be best planning ahead and asking for your bill when your ready to leave about 30 minutes time! Top tip for couples: ask for a table away from the kids ice cream counter, unsupervised children are left to run riot when decorating their ice creams! Don't let these points put you off, simply ask not to be seated near the cinema if you want a quieter area and when ordering your deserts ask for the bill too!

Good meal overall, food fresh and tasty 😋 unfortunately we got sat in a very rowdy and loud area, found it very difficult to hold any sort of conversation in our group, definitely would look to return and hopefully a quite area.

We had a fantastic time, both for dinner and brunch. The food was mostly great. The jalapeño and cheese sausage was delicious, as were the tater tots. The ribs were tough - was half expecting them to fall off the bone, but had to grapple with it. That’s to some people’s taste though. Root beer float is filled with ice and topped with whipped cream instead of ice cream. Staff were over the top friendly, made for a fantastic customer service experience. They catered for every need.

It’s busy on Thursday night which demonstrates its popularity but I’m not sure it’s deserving on the popularity. Service is very good and efficient but the quality of food and the abundance of kids running wild lets the place down. The food in my opinion is OK nothing better nothing worse. Just ok. Would I return? Probably not. Do I regret going? It was OK.

This is a great place to go for families with kids. Their food is tasty and the service is very attentive and nice. I loved the experience, even if I put a lot of weight on (the food is too tempting, it is their merit rather than their fault, a lot of will power is needed not to finish the delicious beautiful food this place serves) There is plenty of entertainment for kids and the price is reasonable. I will come here regularly after this experience.

It's Hickory's it's always good food, the venue was nice and the staff were quick and attentive, service was good, it's a bit more expensive I tend to get a solo platter after a festival or a weekend raving to return me to humanity, always hits the spot

They served the smallest beef rib I have ever seen. I understand if it's the end cut, but if you see that there is half the meat of a normal portion, you would expect to receive another additional half portion meat for 1 whole serving or 50% discount for the smaller serving. I saw two other people receive the same serving as me, and only 1 lucky customer had a proper serving. Also other dishes were nothing special, close to fast food - piled with chips to try to distract you from lack of meat. Not worth the money.

My 13 year old daughter chose here and we weren't disappointed at all. We brought our dog along and dined in the bar area. It was a busy Friday evening, but we still got served quickly and the food was wonderful. The staff were super and came to see dogs with a nice treat of Beef brisket. We will most definitely be visiting again 🥰

Went a while back for my Birthday and brought 4 other mates with me - ordered a large amount of food and sides alongside drinks for all of us featuring (can't exactly remember the names) a pulled pork burger meal, sticky ribs, macaroni & cheese, tater tots and a few other items each which only ran me around £145~ which is extremely cheap considering that includes tips. Albeit it was our first time and unsure what the food was like, one of our group members wasn't too keen on the macaroni cheese as apparently it had too much of a sickly honey taste but the majority really enjoyed our meals. The waitress that served us was extremely helpful in getting our food and drinks and was supportive wherever it was needed. Will definitely be coming back for my next birthday with a bigger group 👌

Been here a couple of times. Food is excellent, glad to note the voluntary service charge has reduced as they add it to your bill. You can ask them to take it off. One thing I'll probably ask for next time is a quieter table. Both times we've been seated in what appears to be a family area, which can get pretty raucous.

So i was amazed when i walked in i felt like i was in america its a great themed bar and restaurant with American music and tv on and there is a ton of attention to detail i was excited to try the food...it was salty and dry i was disappointed the house ale was good and the cocktails are very creative but cost a ton to say its mainly ice and i dont mind paying for quality i just didnt see the quality or quantity. Staff was friendly enough and willing to help atmosphere was very quiet business isnt booming. Maybe i caught them on a bad day.

Many choices on the menu -brisket, ribs, burgers, fish, gumbos, fajitas etc etc. Also an excellent range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Nice, heated, outdoor booths. Great welcome by host. Unfortunately after we ordered our food, there was plenty of staff on, we had to find someone to pay. Didn't get a check back and wasn't asked anything about our experience when we had to seek out someone to pay. Food was great, but little disappointed we felt like we was ignored.. shame as it was for a birthday meal 😕

The restaurant is absolutely incredible with its decor, music and movie room. The experience is unlike any other restaurant; servers brought popcorn and water for the table and later brisket for us to try (which was perfectly cooked and so good). It really feels like more than a restaurant. The menu gives you lots of choices and opportunities to try American foods that you haven’t before. No other UK diner I’ve visited has as many American classics as Hickories. The food itself was great, I had the 3am Mac n Cheese, which comes with a maple sauce drizzle that works surprisingly well. I also had the Cherry Cream Soda to drink, which is great value and very good. The portions are large but they have boxes for leftovers if you need. The staff are fantastic and so accommodating. We had a technical issue with our order, meaning we had to wait a little longer but as soon as the staff realised the problem they sorted it quickly and were very apologetic (offering us free drinks, desserts, taking food off our bill). I didn’t quite catch the names of our servers (both 21 and nicely chatty) but it’s safe to say that all the workers are dedicated to creating a perfect experience for the customer. We will be returning.

Our waitress, whose delightful wit and charm greatly enhanced our evening, was both attentive and swift in her service, ensuring that our meal was as enjoyable as possible. Turning to the cuisine, the brisket was nothing short of superb—succulent, richly flavoured, and precisely what one would hope to encounter at a smokehouse of this calibre. The fries, while not the highlight of the meal, were more than adequate, but the true centrepiece was the platter, a generous and hearty selection capable of satisfying even the most ravenous of appetites. The venue itself caters particularly well to families, with a thoughtfully designed children's play area and even a small cinema to occupy the little ones. The bar is also worthy of note, boasting an extensive array of craft beers, an impressive selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as indulgent milkshakes and distinctive lemonades. One might observe that the establishment carries with it a somewhat sticky and greasy ambiance, a characteristic perhaps inevitable given the nature of the menu. The western section of the building is often bustling with children, which may not appeal to those seeking a more tranquil dining experience. Fortunately, quieter areas are available for those wishing to dine in a more serene setting. In summation, Hickory’s offers a robust and convivial barbecue experience. Whilst it may not be immaculate, such quirks are part of its undeniable charm. A final point of note: our delightful waitress informed us that the waiting staff receive a modest reward of complimentary food for achieving top ratings among their peers. Maybe the head office can just pay them more and offer them a free food?

Truly excellent food and the facilities brilliant the cinema is a masterstroke to entertain the kids. The staff were friendly and helpful at every turn definitely worth a visit

Went for the first time today with my fiance for his 50th birthday. The staff were great, really friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. There was such a good atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Great American themed restaurant that does a good job of catering for both small and large groups. It's been busy on the 2 occasions that I've been and each time the staff and food quality have been excellent. I definitely recommend if you like burger, steaks and Chicken wings. Good selection of different beers too.

Was in Texas 3 months ago and craved for some Texas BBQ, a great place for some good meat indeed! This comes close to what you can get in Texas! I got the beef short rib and my sisters got the brisket, amazing! Plenty of parking & seats inside! Friendly staff & great ambiance!

Food is always great at Hickories, but called for breakfast this morning and ended up talking to Pit-master about it he art of smoking! Staff are so great and happy to talk to my family and share knowledge and tips for making the perfect brisket at home. Thankyou team, hickories is definitely an experience not to be missed.

Lovely atmosphere. staffs are supper friendly and the food is bomb, Perfecto . tacos for starters, sea bass for main. I am usually a karen but I couldn't find anything to karen with shocker for me, simply because everything was just Superb taste was everything . We visited for my husbands birthday. We ordered the sharing platter at £60 which we thought was worth the money for the amount you receive. We ordered extras, we had x3 to share and my son got a chicken burger. The tato tots was beautiful, the chicken wings was lovely, brisket was salty, bbq ribs was too rich in the sauce that it was served with, chips beautiful. The drinks was lovely however when we ordered the wine it came in a decanter which we thought would work out cheaper than by the glass. This was not named wine ie American themed nor pinot/,chardonay...etc- basic not great. The sodas as a mixer was expensive. All in all with the deposit taken off it came to £180 odd pounds. It's alot x4 people. The staff service was mixed as the service waiter and the lady who took the orders was amazing as she was vigilant about allergys/intolerance. The gentleman who mainly served us normally works behind the bar, however he worked so hard to please and assist in service. Unfortunately, some of the younger female staff seemed deflated and slow at request ie drinks, extra plates and cutlery. They did do an amazing surprise by bringing our pre brought cake out with a sparkler to celebrate. When we got home both myself and partner had unsettled stomachs, wether this was to due to the rich food ie meat or oil used is unknown, we left the ribs ,some wings and bbq beans. Overall we had an nice time but I feel the price and service times are heaverly overpriced and alot to pay for a family of four. A tip of 12 was added and felt uncomfortable to take off as the gentleman had really worked hard along with the lady who helped with my dietary requirements.

Always the best customer service. We went for a celebratory breakfast for my daughter passing her GCSEs, and they gifted her with a specially made milkshake.

Fantastic! The food was beautiful from the Bacon Bites to start to the Texas BBQ Brisket and Half Chicken main. All delicious and beautifully cooked. The service was amazing, friendly and attentive staff. The starters came quickly and there was just enough time between starters and main courses to allow for a comfortable dining experience. The play was really busy and the atmosphere was great with the American Country music. Ample parking for everyone and areas for dining outside and entertaining the kids.

We have been to hickorys numerous times now the food and service is always extremely good! My children love the in house cinema, the outdoor play area and free popcorn!. The waiters are amazing when you are dinning for a celebration they go above and beyond! I highly recommend visiting and trying the smokehouse platter!

First time to Hickory's and it won't be the last. The atmosphere was great. The service was excellent and the food (especially the brisket) was amazing.

Nice place antosphere is good playing american music too gorgeous food not too badly priced it's worth it anyway 😋 lovely clean toilets and staff are lovely too. Play area is good outside just a small slide. They did try to add 5.00 tip on automatically to the bill but just ask to tske it off and ur good.

Apart from the tables being too small, especially if you order the sharing platter, the place is really nice. I have never tasted food quite like it. Not cheap by any means if you wanna have a few drinks too but definitely worth it as a one off

Had a lovely experience as usual at hickory’s, fantastic authentic American style restaurant with really good food. Cowboy steak rare cooked to perfection and my wife had watermelon and spicy rice with spicy chicken which was also spot on and left full, keep up the great work hickory’s service is top notch

My mum and I visited this evening after hearing great things from friends. My mum doesn’t live in the area so took this opportunity to test this place out. From the minute we arrived we received a warm welcome from all staff but Elliot especially was extremely attentive, friendly and most importantly very professional ( Credit to the chain itself). The food was amazing, my mum said the ribs were the best she’s ever had. The atmosphere was great and the veranda, where we sat, was lovely. Will definitely be returning!

Pleasantly surprised at how good this was. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular due to it being a chain but I was wrong! We went for the Smokehouse Platter and couldn’t fault any of it. We’re big eaters and we still had loads left. The brisket was the star of the show. The cocktails were really tasty too. We visited on a Friday evening so there was a live country duo which was brilliant. Our waiter Elliot couldn’t do enough for us.

The food and staff were great. It’s amazingly child friendly and the staff were great with kids. I’m really sorry I can’t remember the waitresses name, but after our meal the lovely waitress took my 3 year old to help her make him a milkshake. She also gave him stickers and helped him decorate his cup with the stickers. She was absolutely amazing. He’s a pretty shy kid so the fact he went with her I think shows how great she was. We will definitely go back

Just visited this evening for my cousins baby shower, from my auntie booking the venue to me being able to decorate the tables was all smooth sailing. The food was delicious and very reasonable priced. The bar tender doing a surprise mocktail for the mum to be was lovely. A big thank you to Skye the lady serving us for the evening very polite and service with a smile

Our visit was an absolute celebration thanks to Elliot! Elliot’s super chatty and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. They recommended an amazing cocktail that has became my new favorite! Their kindness and vibrant personality truly made our occasion a celebration! Great food and great service!

Have been here several times and would have put full 5 stars but on this occasion I ordered drinks they was offered to table next to me, my appetiser was offered to table next to me and also my food having to direct people back to my table. I will say this is a first for such poor service. Was handed a receipt without the phone to leave feedback also what was quite unusual that they didn't want feedback as I said nothing about the poor service until after I paid. So I guess feedback isn't important thus why it's now on Google.

As usual an amazing Hickorys experience helping us entertain a client. Delicious food - did I mention the hot sauce. Service that was above and beyond. Great venue decor, hygiene and every detail perfectly considered and consistent. There isn't a better "chain" in the UK

Amazing Deep South bbq food great atmosphere kids will love it. Staff go above and beyond our visit was to celebrate sats and mocks the amazing staff and manager heard this and let the kids have a go at making a mocktail made their night extra special thanks we will return and you should too x

This was the first time I’d been. I’d only heard of this place last week. We had been to ITV in Leeds (emmerdale) and was passing by here anyway on way to M62. Couldn’t decide what to buy so we ordered a platter for two and my god it was HUGE. It arrived within ten minutes and was absolutely incredible. We left stuffed! It wasn’t cheap but we really enjoyed the food a lot. The only complaint was that the coke just tasted of fizzy water. Lady brought me a new one within a few minutes tasting a lot better. Other than that we were over the moon with service and food. :)

It is a very nice place and atmosphere, also the service was good. We told them about food allergies which they sorted out. The food itself, overall, was way too salty, and some of the ribs were dry. The mac cheese was vile this is why we gave a 3 for food

Been here afew times and its great for the kids with an outdoor play area, free popcorn is a brilliant idea too, the prices are a little high but the food is good, the staff are friendly but very slow at times, our last visit unfortunately saw us having to go and order at the bar due to no staff member coming to our table for almost 20 mins, after we finished nobody came to our table, i asked a member of staff passing if we could get the bill, he said he would get it for us but again we sat and waited for over 20 mins until i had to go back in and ask the same member of staff if he had sorted our bill. he responded with "sorry i forgot il get it for you now" i understand it gets busy at times and mistakes are easily made so i wont let the above steer me away. Will definitely be back
