Simple but perfectly cooked food. Everything we had was delicious, and good value too.

I have been going for years… but last night was miserable! The onglet was burnt; the broccoli was way overcooked and soggy; the ‘gravy’ was watery. Total disappointment. The glass section over staircase was dark and dirty. The banquette leather is cracked and needs replacing. The menu barely varies these days… a shadow of its former self Sorry Tom - its stylish Sally Clarke’s in future…

Advised by the french guide Routard, we were very disapointed. The mains were not tasty : the rabbit was in the middle of a lot of "juice"(water)... the desserts, nevertheless, were correct (apple crumble and Rice pudding). Last but surely not least, the waiter was very very harsh, rude and never smiled at us... And very...very...noisy !!! We are french...but how People can speak so loudly ?!!! It was not a pleasant moment for us :-((

Food was stunning, everything was fresh and tasted incredible. The chicken livers were tender and well seasoned , the fish was perfectly cooked ! Would recommend and would go again.....Pro tip the still water is 4 pounds ...which for me was a waste and I would avoid it...and yes I'm sure it's great water.

I regularly come to Hereford Road and it does not disappoint. Chef Pemberton is one of the most underrated chefs. Come if you love great cooking. Simple solid cooking beats most Michelin starred restaurants. I had the braised duck leg with fennel. I must say duck is not my favorite dish but when I happened to see his tray of braised duck legs, I had to give it a try. It was truly an amazing dish, full of flavour. Succulent flesh falling off the bone, with this super crispy skin. The fennel balanced the dish tasty like braised onions. I could eat this everyday….and I’ll be back

How lovely to go to a place where an experienced chef owner is at the pass daily serving excellent, well prepared food at reasonable prices with a well thought out, reasonably priced wine list. A nice buzz - and I mean contented customer buzz not blaring music - confirmed a happy clientele enjoying the food, friendly service and ambience Hats off

As ever, reliably delicious. I have never had a bad meal here in the many years I have been coming here. The duck livers were scrumptious as was the Guinea fowl. The service wonderful and helpful and the ambience unfussy, lived in and stylish. It’s my go to great foodie evening out. Thank you

A good “Sunday Roast” but nothing special. Gravy was thin and a bit bland - crispy roast potatoes would have been good too. With simple dishes it all needs to be good. Nothing to complain about but wouldn’t rush back.

The place has a cozy vibe, and the food is top-notch, but the service is a bit too brisk for our liking. The prices are reasonable, and they've got a decent wine list. However, the staff could be more attentive – we waited forever for menus and never got checked on once. They dropped the bill without asking if we wanted anything else. It's a shame because the place has so much potential. If they just warmed up their service, it could easily be a five-star spot.

I keep coming back to Hereford Road... it has a winning combination of a pared back approach to consistently excellent food, using superb ingredients and allowing them to sing without elaborate treatment. I also love that the kitchen is open to view. The set menu has to be one of the best value deals in London. Lovely ambience and great service. Just wonderful.

Fantastic experience at Hereford Road. Food and service were outstanding. For starters the chicory was wonderful and the leek vinaigreet just worked. Mains great too. Just everything pretty creative and tasty. Very decent prices too. Interesting wine selection, we went for a carage of a delicious Italian wine. Friendly service. Recommended!

Wonderful visit as usual. I'm always spoilt for choice where dishes are concerned as they are all so delicious. The staff are friendly and the ambiance is perfect. It's always been my favourite place.

This is the best restaurant in London and I could argue at length as to why. An innate understanding of what a restaurant should be.

The service was awful - we could not as much as much get a refill of water in the 2.5 hours spent there, having had to flail around for any attention. (Also our waiter was exceptionally dour. Perhaps he was having a bad day but for a Friday evening things felt a little too funerary) The starters and mains were obviously well sourced but too underwhelming and insipid to make it through the whole meal. Half of our food went uneaten and it was interesting no one bothered to ask why. We couldnt risk dessert, so went up the road to a gelataria for some insanely good ice cream.

The best kind of neighbourhood restaurant. Delicious food, very efficient and low-key staff. Just a great place to spend an evening.

It felt like solid home cooking with high quality ingredients. But this restaurant being listed in the Michelin guide (bib), I was expecting a bit more sophistication and balance in the dishes.

Hereford Road is always a good place to have dinner especially with friends. It has a related atmosphere but the cooking never fails

Hereford Road restaurant and its owner/chef Tom provide the best value, service and home cooked style food of any restaurant in Notting Hill. When prices in all the endlessly appearing and disappearing restaurants in W11, WI0 and W8 exceed a monthly mortgage payment, HR remains consistently excellent and affordable.

My boyfriend (a black man) was meeting friends here for dinner last night. As he approached the door, the waiter inside *twice* directed my boyfriend away from the restaurant. My boyfriend was confused. When one his friends who was inside came out for a cigarette she found my boyfriend outside looking for a back entrance. She brought him inside and they asked the waiter why he was directing my boyfriend away from the door. The waiter said “I thought you he was an Uber driver and Uber drivers often get confused.” My boyfriend is well-dressed and he arrived on foot; nothing but this waiter’s racism could have indicated that my boyfriend was anything less than a customer. Needless to say, my boyfriend’s friends refused to eat here and left. The only good thing to say about HRR is they didn’t charge the party for the wine they opened before my boyfriend was insulted by the staff.

just delightful all the way: charming and attentive service, an intersting and unusual wine list. a good choice of dishes some out of the ordinary making a decision a game.thoroughly recommend.

We had not been to Hereford Road for a number of years and were very disappointed with our meals .We ordered roast beef and the order arrived very ( too) quickly as I mentioned to my wife .The beef was fatty and lacking volume and mine came with the normal accompaniments but also a small veg which was rock hard and a meaty piece which could not be cut into .I left these items and both my wife and I left a lot of fat on the plate and I mentioned to our waitress that I couldn’t eat the 2 pieces mentioned above .She made no response and just took the plates away .The desserts were ok .Overall it was a very disappointing meal and one we will not repeat

Fantastic meal and incredible value for money for the quality of food and service. Everything was delicious, especially the Skate main and the duck leg main. Also really well priced wine menu. I wish more restaurants were as reasonable!

I am sorry to say although food is very good the noise level is unbearable in the main room where everybody seemed to be screaming and upstairs by kitchen where one person seemed to drop a large aluminium dish down every few minutes with deafening effect. Sorry !

Always excellent. I’ve eaten here since it opened many years ago and was so happy to see them back after their brief close. Owner / Head Chef is always friendly and welcoming. Food is first class. Can’t recommend highly enough. Everyone I have taken here has enjoyed it Fantastic Yorkshire puddings on a Sunday too :)

The food was Really good - but the staff was pretty cold

Last Friday friend and I went to Hereford Road, to experience their fixed price lunch, a treat. we know the restaurant. the lunch was delicious, the restaurant, was full and buzzing, and on top of which it was good value...I know it by evening, I do not, have not experienced it by day, but, if this is the standard, of their friday fixed lunch, will definitely book again, five star lunch five star value.

The quality of food selection and preparation has been maintained over the many years that we have come to Hereford Road. Food is nicely seasoned and prepared, and there is always a good selection. The wines are also well selected. Prices have remained reasonable. This is one of our most favorite London restaurants, and it has never disappointed us.

We enjoyed our food very much. We had tasty, fresh starters followed by excellent main courses. The pork t bone had delicious flavour and was accompanied by a good selection of vegetables. The roast beef and roast chicken were also much liked. Overall it was a very good meal and great value. The service was friendly and just attentive enough. Highly recommended.

They had run out of beef, so decided to try the Pork. The meat was so tough, I almost needed a sharper knife, very little in the way of veg and it was all swimming in gravy.

Although I've left quite a few reviews for Hereford Road, I feel compelled to leave another to say how much we enjoyed the whole experience once more. I love the pared back but yet sophisticated menu, always good service and just a real neighbourhood gem.

This restaurant is constantly amazing. If you are in London you have to visit this restaurant. Tom and the crew make you feel welcome and serve superb British food. We love the ever changing menu and dine here as often as we can.

Visited this restaurant after seeing it on the Michelin list and it was definitely worth the visit. The 3 course lunch menu was outstanding. Considering the price, the portions were still a good size and the food was so flavourful. I’m a big fan of the open kitchen and the whole interior atmosphere. This is definitely somewhere I will be visiting again.

Excellent Sunday lunch , great atmosphere and food

This is our favourite neighbourhood restaurant and never disappoints. The focus is on high-quality British meat, fish, poultry and game, simply but expertly cooked. I had potted crab on thick slices of char-grilled toast, followed by pan-fried skate with roast cauliflower and capers. My companion had a smoked mackerel salad followed by venison with purple sprouting broccoli. The wine list is fairly short but interesting. The puddings were very tempting but we didn't feel we could do them justice on this occasion as servings are generous. The owner/head chef, Tom, is one of the nicest (and best) restaurateurs I've ever met. Long may Hereford Road continue.

Passable, but the food was nothing special. Guinea fowl was leg rather than breast, and didn't fall from the bone. Quite the opposite. Sides of new potatoes and vegetables small, with the latter consisting of a few leaves of cabbage only. Plates were small, to match the servings. Pork chop mustard sauce was watery. Rice pudding was good but, again, a small serving. Not great value for money and wouldn't hurry back.

I was recommended the Hereford Road by a friend and booked to take some American friends who were staying nearby. Slightly difficult to locate because the sign is on the awning above and in the dark not obvious, though this shouldn’t put one off. The interiors was much better than photos on the internet, though slightly noisy because full, we contributed to this! There was nothing on the menu I wouldn’t have selected, the Skate I had was the best ever and our guests were highly impressed with choices and prices. A wonderful evening all round. Thank you and will be back.

Good food and incredible value, especially considering the area the restaurant is placed in. The service is a bit sloppy in general and (I assume) because we were a relatively young couple (mid-20s) we weren't treated as well as other customers. We had a reservation and we were sat at the booths in front of the kitchen, although every other couple was asked for seat preference, even the one directly after us who had no reservation. The booths are a bit noisy so given the option, we wouldn't sit there. Also, all the plates were cleaned and tidied up by service before being transported to the tables (we could see it in front of us) but ours were sloppy and one of them had gravy all over. Overall a good option but wouldn't go back because of what's mentioned above.

The Sunday roast was superb, extremely tasty. You can tell the meat is very good quality and the Yorkshire puddings are the best any of us have had (and half of the table are originally from Leeds) . The waitress was also extremely kind and lovely. Thanks for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

I was desperate to go here for food as I've heard so many great things. We opted for Sunday lunch as it's a nice 15 minute stroll from home. Highlights - the chicken livers were cooked perfectly as was the beef. Lowlights - we weren't offered bread with the chicken livers or smoked mackerel starter. All other tables did receive the doughy treat! Service was not friendly but not unfriendly I'd call it beige. The cheese course was a shocker. 3 small pieces of brie with over cooked biscuits that could break a tooth! The wine was nice. Will I go back? Not in a hurry as there are lots of restaurants in the area.

I've already left many reviews on Hereford Road, but I feel that continuing to maintain such excellence in the kitchen as well as service deserves another mention. Every dish we have there is perfectly executed, and it's a perfect place to just relax and enjoy the experience.

I love Hereford Rd, but on this occasion, having ordered the barley vegetarian dish, the portion was so small that I came home and had to eat something else. Weird. It was more like a stater. My friends had nice food and were laughing at mine.

Scrummiest roasts in West London preceded by a mouth watering potted crab, `a superior wine for every taste too.

The food here was pretty outstanding. Service a little nonchalant, but chef was attentive and served up some magic – highlight being the devilled kidneys.. sublime.

Very nice food combined with bad, unmotivated, at time rude service in a very worn out locale. Too bad because the food was actually quite good. The handicapped bathroom was claimed to be out of commission forcing the use of stairs

Never had such a rude and uninspired service crew. The outsides tables were sticky from the trees. Waiter: there is nothing we can do! Not even a place mat? Disgusting. Plate and silverware thrown on the sticky table. Food is average. At 7:30 two of the main dishes were out. Again, no excuse, choose something else! By the way total bill for the two of us was £ 198 Waiter thinks he is special, because he works in a Notting Hill Restaurant 🤣

The Hereford has been my favorite restaurant since it opened. I live ten minutes away and wish I lived nearer. Tom always produces delicious dishes of honest accomplished food at a very reasonable cost. All his staff are friendly and exacting. The Hereford is a casual unpretentious delight.

A joy from start to finish. Delicious food perfectly cooked. Nice wine. We sat outside in the sunshine. Good service. It was our first time and we will definitely return. Great value.
