Herb Garden Cafe in Powys

Lovely pit stop for lunch. We visited en route to our holiday in Pembrokeshire. We were given a warm welcome and the sandwiches were fresh, plentiful and tasty. They were served with a side salad and crisps. We also had a pot of tea for two, which came accompanied with a pot of hot water, which was plenty to top up for a second cup. The tea room was clean and the only reason for four stars not five is that it would have been nice to have some music on for atmosphere.

Food was nice and affordable prices. It was busy and crowded during midday on a weekday.

Friendly little community cafe with good coffee and cakes, pleasant staff, quiet atmosphere, everything looks nice and clean and well-presented. A bit tucked away off the main street, but well worth finding.

Fabulous pancakes with great dressings very well presented by a young staff. Have had meals here before and all were of a very high standard- would definitely recommend

6 of us had breakfast here. All fresh ingredients that were well cooked Very good value for such quality food I would definitely eat here again

Lovely place great food .easy atmosphere

Located down a sadly rundown arcade. It has outside seating as well, under cover. Not the most welcoming. Spacious and average decor. Food was uninspring and the toasty was rather soggy and mushy. Coffee was average. Seems popular with the locals and some real characters present.

I’ve been meeting friends here for over a year. It’s a nice place to go with a fresh atmosphere. They sell lovely cakes and the drinks are a good price. £2 for a pot of tea at present(November 2023)

Stopped on our way through Wales for lunch and I'm so glad we did! Delicious, quick, varied menu that caters for all dietary requirements and made substitutions for children's preferences too. Really friendly. Highly recommended!

I stopped off here on my way to the Breacon Beacons because they have a lot of vegan options available. Very quiet cafe when I visited, without any music, but this made things peaceful and calm. The staff are friendly. I had a toasted sandwich with roasted veg & hummus (pictured).

Lovely spacious cafe tastefully decorated with a bit of a hippy vibe. Friendly helpful staff, very accommodating regarding diet whether u are vegan need gluten free exclusion eg dairy free or enjoy meat. Good menu. All day breakfasts wonderful variety of cakes and drinks

We came for coffee and cake but then saw the menu -so the cakes went into compostable containers and we ordered - all home made , attention to detail ( including seeds in our salad) delicious, nutritious and all served by friendly staff . If we lived here , this would be our go to as we could not fault it. It was too yummy to do a before photo

Amazing food and friendly staff

Dog friendly cafe centre of town- I am from the sw of England and came across this gem of a place a year ago whilst in the area. This year again travelling through Wales I came out of my way to eat lunch here. Such a friendly community focused cafe- lovely home cooked good at half the price of more expensive " foodie" type towns. Soak up the " llandrod" atmosphere in the herb garden!

I was needing the loo and the lady serving let me use it without any questions asked. The way it should be. I bought a coke on the way out as a thank you.

The best cafe food I’ve ever had.

Discovered this charming café too late for a lunch but was rewarded with an excellent coffee. Strong and well made. Engaging waitress who was thrilled with a celebrity visit the previous day ‘Tony Robinson cake in with his film crew. Delightful ambience and seeing.

Over stuffed plates. Crisps, salad, coleslaw not necessary. Complete overload

Lovely little cafe in the town. Came here twice during our stay in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. A great menu selection including plenty of vegan options and some GF options too which was great to see. We had Full English breakfasts, Toasties, Sausage, Egg, Chips and beans, Poached egg on toast. Everything ordered came very promptly and cooked to perfection for us. A highly recommended cafe. Many thanks!

Probably the only highlight of Llandrindod Wells a very shabby sad town but at least you can get a decent cup of coffee at the herb garden, the only cafe that we were prepared to try the others just looked a bit sad and grubby

Never had a problem with the Herb Garden food. But for the second time we waited too long to be served and ended up eating elsewhere....

Herb Garden Cafe is a great place to stop for a drink or bite to eat while exploring the area. We had lunch after wandering around the lake. Staff are friendly and helpful and service was quick. Food is delicious too. The place had a nice busy vibe to it with everyone enjoying themselves. Full marks for the baby changing facilities too, they provided wipes, a nappy bin and a changing mat on a chest high platform which was very welcome after my son was wet through! A lot of places have non existent facilities for parents so this was great to see. Happily recommend. Many thanks

Lovely food, and not bad prices

Clean, good choice on the menu, staff pleasant and what we ordered were very nice. Only downer was a couple trying to arrange a loan on the phone, heard by all, and all the more embarrassing as they got knocked back, not the tea rooms fault I hasten to add.

This cafe is located down a small arcade but has inside and outside seating so suitable for disabled people to visit, the coffee has a variety of choices, and the cakes are great, there is also a menu, and the staff are friendly.

The staff are friendly and polite, then food is freshly cooked which means there is a slight wait however this is not a problem as the drinks were served quickly with non dairy milk options. I really like eating here for breakfast and like to support this local business.

Popped in for a gluten free breakfast and it was amazing! Everything tasted spot on and we will defiantly come back. Whole menu had GF options and it’s great to see, usually a struggle to find somewhere with such a huge choice. Keep up the good work!

Very nice, helpful with my dietary needs, which is really nice, as you don't get that very often! Quite Reasonably priced, we didn't have to wait to long for our food and the staff where they friendly and the cafe was clean which is always very important.

We stopped off for lunch and sat outside in a little covered area. It is dog friendly and a member of staff bought our dog a water bowl which was nice. We had jacket potatoes, toasted sandwich and a burger and all were very nice. The chips were particularly good. We didn’t have any cake but from what I saw they looked very good. Would definitely visit again.

My friend and I found this lovely café yesterday. First for coffee and later, tired and hungry after exploring the town. Wonderful friendly service and dungaree purchase advice - I got some 😊 Great food and lemon roulade to die for. I'll be going back very soon.

Very cosy inside, I got a takeaway soya flat white. In some cafés, the soya milk gets curdled but this was fine. Good size cup and good coffee.

How lovely it was to walk into a place with so many gluten free choices available. I am coeliac and it can be quite a chore trying to find places with such choices. Here it was easy and I felt "normal" being able to choose a simple sandwich and cake, things which others take for granted. The date slices are absolutely to die for, well done, would highly recommend a visit.

Called in on a long drive to Tenby. The young waitress was lovely, really chatty and friendly. Ordered the drinks and a couple of sandwiches. Another middle aged couple followed us in and did the same, then sat at the next table and waited.It was not busy.I had noticed the handwritten note stating be patient due to covid and staff shortages.We waited, drank our tea and coffee and waited. We waited some more. By this point maybe 20 minutes had elapsed, remember our order was two sandwiches.My wife eventually decided to ask the nice waitress. Immediately the food appeared and it was OK.The other couple sat patiently until they also decided enough was enough. And also politely enquired about the status of their order. Again, Immediately it appeared.A few minutes later, Basil Fawlty walked to their table and asked if there was a problem?The chap was obviously surprised at his tone, and said no we have just been waiting a long time. Basil then pointed at the sign and very rudely explained that the sign tells you it will be delayed. At that he stomped off back to the kitchen. Leaving us all looking at each other quite amazed.So unnecessary and aggressive when there was no need.Some people are very strange. All the good work by the waitress was ruined by his intervention which achieved absolutely nothing other than to embarass the poor couple and ruin theirs and our experience of being there.

Popped in here yesterday whilst in the area with our dog. We sat outside. Both had a toasted cheese and ham sandwich and a latte. Latte came out then we did wait 20 for our toasties. We’re delicious once they came and the young lady who served us was very polite. Recommend

Lovely cake, specifically rhubarb & carrot, really nice friendly & attentive staff, let down by very poor quality coffee that tasted like it was made from stale acorns. Sort your coffee out guys & we’d return.

Tucked away below and opposite the post office, this is a great little cafe. It has plenty of space inside and outside and is dog friendly. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and there is a great choice of gluten free sandwiches and toasties, as well as a comforting selection of sweet treats.The teas and coffees are also good :-)

We were really excited to try the Herb Garden Cafe as they had vegan options. The food was okay (ordered the vegan breakfast) and definitely good value for money as there was lots of food! However, we were disappointed in the service. We felt like we were a burden to the staff. A smile and welcoming greeting would have been nice! Shame as other reviews applaud the staff being friendly. I guess we caught them on a bad day.

Very reasonably priced for food.

Our weekly treat. lovely setting with birds singing, sunshine. Cooked breakfast is delicious. Never disappointed. friendly staff. Americano and Capuchino are delightful. Chips crispy and full of flavor, spot on cooked to perfection.

Tucked away in a little alley not far from the railway station, the Herb Garden Café is a find. Sit inside, or bag a table on the pavement by the herb garden. Yes, there is one. Service was friendly and attentive. We sat outside and were offered water for the dogs. Our food was delicious – we both had a sandwich with brie, bacon and chutney which was accompanied by a side salad and a handful of crisps. We had the key lime pie for afters – light and moreish, with vanilla ice cream. Truly a lovely little place, particularly on a warm day as we were sheltered from the sun.

Surprised but very pleased to find this community cafe serving freshly-prepared food in a shopping precinct. Well-spaced tables, spotlessly clean and a good menu. We had the chef's salmon fishcakes with salad and chips - freshly cooked and very tasty.
