Visited the Hendderwen today with friends, ordered veg chilli, and fudge cake for dessert, came out piping hot and did not disappoint, fudge cake was insane. Lovely atmosphere , lady who served us was so polite. We will be back

Excellent pub with a great selection of drinks and lovely menu. Had an amazing burger that was cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, and the ambiance made for a great night out. Highly recommend for both food and drinks!

Went for a family meal for a birthday, service was quick and staff were so friendly. Food was amazing (best steak I’ve ever had) will definitely be going back this weekend.

Used to frequent the pub a lot before lockdown. It then was very hit and miss for food. Have recently had two meals with family and friends the most recent on the 10th September. All of our meals were great and the service fast and friendly. Nice to see it’s going in the right direction

Birthday meal with a friend which was tasty. The owner found out there was a birthday and then went out of his way to bring us a small cake and put birthday music on! Outstanding! The lady serving was polite and fun. Good luck to the owner he can't do enough for anyone. See you soon

Had food here and it was absolutely outstanding, the service was immaculate and the owner Glen is a lovely kind person. Would recommend this place to anyone! Great for birthday parties and events etc.

Fabulous welcome and service. Food was well presented and one of the best steaks ever. We were a party of 12 and everyone had an empty plate. I will definitely be visiting again.

We had a work do to celebrate our boss’s 70th birthday. Food was delicious. Service was prompt and staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable evening.

Took my elderly mum out for a suprise treat. Perfectly cooked Sunday dinner. Everything that came out of the kitchen was first class. Definitely recommend. Thank you. Will be back next time I'm home to visit Swansea.

Had steak and salad stated there was quinoa and other bean in salad but didn't receive with the salad but other than that the apple crumble,And steak was very nice

After visiting here last week for the first time in years we were so impressed with what the new landlord has done with the place we visited again this week! The food is delicious, super reasonable in price! Service is great and the staff are fabulous especially the young lady Jenna who is very friendly and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble! Thank you! We look forward to our regular visits here now!!

Great pub to wine and dine in, unfortunately food takes a while to come out so you are waiting a long time which is difficult with young children. Pleasant and friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. Enjoyed the burgers, would recommend.

Visited as a group of four - two teenagers, a senior and an adult on two occasions recently. Staff were very friendly and always are. They are always accommodating and will assist where changes to the menu are required. Service was prompt. Food was of good quality. We had a Lasagne, Southern Fried Chicken burger, a few sides to share and a portion of chips as there were different appetites to cater to. We will definitely be visiting again.

Worst pub in Swansea west. Booked a table at 1pm.......3pm no sign of food. No manager available......no refund.......stay away.

Pub/Restaurant very welcoming, very clean with friendly,helpful staff. The new Manager - Glenn is so friendly and enthusiastic and has made an enormous difference to the running of the Hen Dderwen. Iv had a few meals there which have been very nice,well presented and always hot. I also love that there is live entertainment there.

Lasagna good, steak pie good, service good. Peas were tasteless, need to look at them. A few kids took over the place, hence 4 star for atmosphere. Will return.

Just come out of the Hen Dderwen and it’s an absolute dream compared to what it was a couple months ago!

Absolutely outstanding experience here would 100% eat here again! The establishment has been taken over by new management and I couldn’t be happier, I had the mega mixed grill so compliments to the chef filled me up well and truly, the service and experience I had here was a 10/10

Went for Sunday lunch after not visiting for a few months. Bad experience today. Told beef was off the menu - only chicken and turkey available (fair enough). Ordered 4 lunches. Waited 40 mins for food to arrive. No roast potatoes or 'creamy mash' on the plate as stated on the menu. Just 4 boiled potatoes which were raw (could not cut through them). Complained to bar staff. Manager came over and was very apologetic explaining they were new and finding their feet. Refund for half the meals given and free ice cream for our child. Not sure what chef they use but clearly needs to improve sharpish. Not sure if we will go back any time soon.

My wife and I had a meal here for the first time in months. Wow, what an experience. The food was very good, the service was excellent. Good luck to Glen and the team. Great to have our "local" back.

Nous sommes venus ce soir afin de pouvoir charger notre voiture pendant le repas. Un tout petit peu d attente pour le propriétaire est en charge du pub depuis 1 semaine et le pub a beaucoup de succès. Le repas était délicieux et la décoration très jolie pour le couronnement. Très bonne adresse.

Very warm welcome and lovely food

New owners are lovely & friendly & food is great. Service was a little slow but all well seeing as they’ve only just taken over & getting it all up & running. Staff apologised for delays but continued to check we were ok/if we needed anything. The whole place has had a revamp and is cosy. So much better than before!! Highly recommend

I've eaten here a few times and each time the food has arrived promptly and well presented. I don't know what cheese they use on the lasagna and nachos, but it's particularly good. The staff are all attentive and cheerful.

We used to visit regularly. We visited once again yesterday. Our summary is we won't again. I had booked a table for 5 pm- it wasnt. The table we were given had debris on it - the edges of the table were filthy, crusted never cleaned. The cracks are showing in more ways than one. Music not suitable and loud.

Unfortunately the new owners don't seems to know what there doing ,the food I ordered the chicken was dry and burnt was not editable the garlic bread was burnt ,get a dribble of BBQ sauce on the meal was not worth the money the drinks were flat ,the chips were under done ,it was honestly terrible,the toilets are just gross filthy ,I wouldn't recommend anyone I know to go there waste of money, harvester is definitely worth paying out for instead of this place

The service was terrible. Very slow. Took 20 minutes to be served for a drink when it was not even busy. Food even worse. Tasteless. Hair in the burger. Time from when first main being brought out to the last main to come out was around 15 minutes. Staff were all sitting around drinking. Whole experience was shocking. Will not be going here ever again.

Absolutely awful service. My partner ordered food for him and our son and was left waiting at the table for ages only to be told they forgot to put the order through to the kitchen. When he asked for a refund he was offered a scoop of ice cream each for him and our son as a sorry. After arguing with staff over a difference of 5 minutes they finally agreed to refund him for the food only, not even a refund for the drinks as an apology! This used to be a lovely pub but definitely won't be wasting our time there again. After all this, on the way out the door a lady said to my partner to leave a review 😂 well here it is!

Friendly, airy and decent pub. A few rowdy youngsters in there but overall a pleasant few hours.

We visited Hen Dderwen in sketty park swansea on the 21st November 2022 at 5.30pm. We decided to order a hunters chicken and a mixed grill and garlic bread. We were told they were out of all steak so I could not have the mixed grill and they were out of garlic bread. So we ordered the hunters chicken and fries and gammon egg and fries. Both meal's looked like a small child's portion, the small amount of thin fries ( quantity less than 10) were under cooked rubbery and cold, the chicken was small rubbery and luke warm, the gammon was very small full of fat and cold, the egg was broken and dry, the one mini onion ring was soggy and the unusual serving of one tablespoon of mushy peas was luke warm. The food looked like midday scraps warmed up in the microwave. It genuinely felt like the cook had thrown together a concoction of scraps found off other guests plates. It is such a pity as the pub itself has such potential, a nice interior and relaxed atmosphere. However We left there hungry, in shock and feeling sick partly due to the mess we had just consumed and partly due to being £30 out of pocket. I ended up calling into the local chipshop, and buying pie and chips to compensate for the child's portions. It is very sad to see a local pub that once had a good reputation drop to such a poor standard. If we weren't in such shock then we would have taken pictures or complained, but they had one bar person who was multitasking serving drinks, waitressing and clearing tables. Honestly I have never in my life experienced such bad food.

Very slow ,very immature attitude, service very slow, cleanliness is very poor, no steak knife offered with mixed grill, tables dirty, condiments nearly empty . Would not recommend and would not return

We visited this venue on Sat & were informed the pub had NO beer or ICE available - absolutely unbelievable!! We did not stay long ! Such a shame 😞

Waited ages for our food and didn't bother telling us only fries available no chips and very small portions of curry will not be going back as missed out 1 meal altogether and barmaid didn't care

So disappointing. My friend and I ordered the vegan chilli main, not the small plate. We genuinely thought they’d made a mistake and given us the lighter small plate lunch because the potion was so small. When I queried it the chef said that’s how the potions came, and the manager said it was the second complaint she’d received about this meal. Honestly I could not see how they could possibly give a smaller potion. It wouldn’t cover the bottom of the serving dish. It was accompanied by a handful of taco chips and some Mexican microwave rice. The ingredients must have cost less than £1. They charged £9.10 for it We won’t be returning

Not very happy with the meal. Chips and scampi seemed as if they had been put in the microwave to warm being left over from the lunch menu. We were there at 5.30 and there was no lasagna available so another choice had to be made.

I was a little sceptical about thiis pub after reading some of the reviews but I have to say it was excellent! Nice food, lovely friendly staff. A great value meal
