Lovely brunch with friends. Good menu and service. Between us we had the smoked salmon and eggs, pasta dish with prawns and a goat's cheese salad. The place has a nice vibe to it. Free parking on nearby roads but in the parade it was £6 for two hours.

I left this review in October 2023 but it was removed, and I am not too happy and this is most unprofessional. I visited last week on Saturday 15th October. I felt the food was good, but the prices are so overcharged, they think they are in the West End this is Cockfosters. The service was poor, and not attentive. The atmosphere was not good , as there was a women walking around with a child all evening and I was able to see this. Then the child was handed to the guy who took our order, which was weird. I have no idea if this is the owner, because cannot workout who owns this place in Cockfosters, it was not professional. I wont visit this place again, and to charge such high prices. Also very limited choices, not many fish only three choices Salmon, Sea Bass or prawn, or vegetarian 3 options. In fact limited choices for an evening menu. I wont visit again or recommend as I live nearby. I was ready to walk out. Spent so much on the decor they lacked to make the menu better and at a better price or customer service and in fact removed some plates when still eating, no conversation was made no please or thank you. I expect better customer service all round, and I know about customer service and this did not happen. I agree the menu has nothing about, allergies, or gluten or wheat allergies, this is fact if you are running a restaurant you are supposed to put these facts on your menu, because someone can have a bad reaction you would be liable, and this is not good, because this should be displayed. Staff were exceptional. Great decor. Highly recommend will definitely be coming again. A great overall experience. Lots of space, staff who smile and are attentive. Good quality food, attractive interiors and high ceilings making it a great environment too. The staff deserves special commendation. They were not only friendly but also incredibly welcoming. I’ve been a regular customer of Shakespeares Edmonton brunch and they have disappointed me so much that I wasn’t expecting much from this place however I’m really surprised with the attention to detail.

6 of us booked a table at 1pm for Sunday lunch. First time there for all of us. When we arrived it was absolutely rammed and I expected the worst. How wrong can you be? We were looked after by Ismail who was absolutely brilliant – polite, friendly, efficient, got everything right first time and regularly returned (we were there just under 3 hours) to check everything was OK (which it was). He wouldn’t be out of place at a 5-star London hotel but then again he probably would given some of the morons we’ve been served by in the past. The food was simply delicious – very generous portions and reasonably priced. Considering the number of people dining, we didn’t have to wait for anything. Calamari, Chicken Caesar Salad, King Prawn Spaghetti, Grilled Terriyaki Salmon. So much so that we had no room for dessert. But our ‘Wow’ moment was when Koksal brought out 3 complimentary desserts. Never expected that! Apart from Ismail, we interacted with several other staff members who were also excellent. None of us live anywhere near Cockfosters but we all said without hesitation we would come back (and soon). Would thoroughly recommend Shakespeare. One small negative – the toilets are separate cubicles more like a disco than a WC (plus point) but in one of them, the toilet seat was wobbly (minus point). Knew we would get them on something!

Delicious! Went here for the first time today for breakfast/ brunch. It is £13.80 for a full English but it is great quality. Staff are so polite and really welcoming. Yum!

Went there for breakfast. There's a really good variety of food, especially with the "make your own" option. They also did really well with our gluten allergy (Celiac). It was clear our server knew what we were talking about and the severity of the condition, she knew what was in the food and how it's cooked so could advise us on what we can or cannot eat. They have gluten free bread and toasted it separately. We didn't get sick so seems like they really did take extra care with the food.

The waitress with the curly hair was extremely courteous and kind, as was the manager who brought us two complimentary teas to have with our baklava. Not sure if tips are split between all staff, but we left something to show our gratitude to both the lovely waitress mentioned and the manager.

Food was very good. Staff were also very nice and friendly. Would definitely go back.

Really enjoyed my pouched eggs on toast and avocado. Great portion size and we also added spinach as a sides Nice looking establishment, very friendly staff and average price for the area. Would definitely go back again.

Took my partner here for his birthday today and I cannot fault the service. The staff were very attentive and went above and beyond. I didn’t catch the names of the waiter and waitress that were looking after us but their service in particular was impeccable! Thank you! We will be back xx

I’ve been going to this restaurant for the past few months. It has great breakfast options. Today I ordered a steak and the meet didn’t have the consistency and smelled really bad. I didn’t touch the steak beyond one bite and handed the food back. Didn’t ask for anything apart from the bill. The waitress came and said why I hadn’t eaten my steak and I explained. She took it to the kitchen to be checked by manager and they said they had tasted it and it was alright! Not sure that’s the best method of customer care. Then she said I’m sorry I don’t have anyone to take it off your bill (I hadn’t asked for it to be deducted). It was an unpleasant experience and having been there over 20 times, this will be the last time as there are many other good restaurants on Cockfoster Road.

Me and my partner decided to try this place as we live locally and always seen its while walking past. Upon entering the ambience is lovely and relaxing. I ordered the salt beef sandwich which at £16+ was rather expensive but I ordered it expecting a grand portion. When it arrived I was so disappointed. It had one strip of salt beef, a tiny amount. Really disappointing. The sweet potato chips tasted great but I won’t be returning after the insult of what’s called a salt beef sandwich. I could have gone to the deli across the road, who do a stacked salt beef sandwich for half the price. The reviews are quite good which leads me to believe people are clueless.

Attentive staff and a delicious breakfast, very flexible with seating although we booked for the wrong time. Good location with parking.

Hedons - The food is good and the people are friendly....but we went with our 2 year old and 6 year old on three occasions and they really made us feel like the children aren’t welcome. Won’t be going back. After this changed hands from Heddons to Shakespeare it’s much better so I’m changing my rating to 4 Stars.

It’s a nice looking place, people are nice and welcoming but the breakfast is greasy spoon quality and for what they charge there are much better places to eat for the money.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shakespeare, and I must say, it was an enchanting experience from start to finish. The decor, with its intricate details and an abundance of lovely flowers, was beautifully done. It added a touch of natural elegance to the overall ambience, creating a charming and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the Shakespearean theme. The staff deserves special commendation. They were not only friendly but also incredibly welcoming. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to make recommendations made the dining experience all the more enjoyable. They where very patient as we couldn't decide and while waiting for us the make a decision they chatted with us and we didn't feel rushed. Now, let's talk about the food at "Shakespeare" - it was nothing short of amazing. I had Shakespeare full breakfast with extra halloumi cheese and an ice latte with a shot of caramel and my friend had a fully loaded omelette with salad, chips and extra sausage and a English tea. Went today for a quick breky instead of Middys or Miracles. It was better, more down to earth and the food could not be faulted.. a delish Hot Salt Beef sandwich and some french toast to follow. the wife also had a Heddon Coffee which was nice but should be a little bigger to be spot on. Not the usual type of thing I would eat for breky bu the wife made a great choice. Italian lady serving very smiley and Tattoo lady calling me darling (not sir etc) was a nice felt a bit retro and I like retro We shall be back and I promised tattoo lady a review so here it is.

Beautiful cafe with such great top quality food! The workers there especially a lady called Selda are so lovely! My 8 year old son's favourite place and favourite people. 😍

What a lovely place. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't busy. The toasted banana bread is one of the best deserts I've had. Staff were friendly and nice. They made sure they took our empty plates away so our table doesn't get full. The place was also warm. I definitely recommend this cafe as it's special.

Fantastic food - great place for breakfast

Heddons is by far the best place to grab a delicious brunch in Cockfosters. Having tried other places, we always end up back there almost on a weekly basis! The owner and all the staff are always really welcoming, customer service is fantastic and the food is incredible - I’d highly recommend the Heddons Delight or for something sweet, any of the french toast options are amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.

Since new owners it has become excellent. Service is friendly and helpful and the selection of plants is brilliant. The cafe is great, again very helpful and they stock gluten free and lactose free products. Staff are lovely.

Thank you to Mel and the team of Staff for making our grans 85th Birthday lunch one to remember. Excellent service and care and delicious food. There was 13 of us, the kids loved their pancakes, and the adults enjoyed from a range of full English, burgers, super salads and drinks and we look forward to our next visit 🙂 Georjy

Lovely aura was a tad bit busy when I went buy I guess that shows popularity. Staff were ok . My table had a serious wobble which was not pleasant. The food was absolutely amazing. The smoothie was the same.

Sometimes the small things are what matter. I had Coffee & Croissant and throughly enjoyed it. Certainly my goto place when I'm taking my cat to the vets Nextdoor. If I was being super critical. Lose the cheap processed Jam and go for something like the Tiptree Thank you!

We had a really good breakfast, eggs cooked perfectly, kind waiters. Very kind to our toddler!

Food was delicious, smoothies were full of flavour! Full English was like it was cooked without any oil (not sure if it was or not) and not greasy in the slightest. Frappe was on point too! America pancakes and syrup were very nice too. £12.50 for the full English.

Turned up with a BME friend for brunch excited to try a new place. We were made to wait AGES standing up despite many empty tables that never got filled. No one who subsequently came in was made to wait and feel like they were in the way. We clocked upon reflection it was my friend’s ethnicity that was the only logical explanation. The food was also a huge disappointment - undercooked bacon, burnt toast, rubbery eggs. No apology for burnt toast when we asked for a replacement. Sorry I really cannot recommend nor will we ever step foot in this place again!

Just ordered for the first time and I am so impressed! Can’t believe I had never ordered before! The salt beef sandwich is amazing and so is the grilled chicken! I have an issue with chicken usually because in some places it tastes quite strong/“chickeny” -hard to explain -and i hate it- but here its amazing! The salt beef is soo nice! And the coffee is lovely, perfect! They have gained a loyal customer today. Thanks!!

I chose the breakfast toasted sandwich with everything inside with the lovely seeded bread and it was amazing. I also had the strawberry whip smoothie which was delicious! I went to Heddons kitchen yesterday as I have really missed a good burger. So happy I did. It was delicious and the chips are amazing. Had a lovely pot of tea with some cake for dessert. Mel and the staff were so welcoming. That’s standard Heddons service! Highly recommend!

After months of no socialising, my Daughter & Daughter in Law kindly arranged for us to meet up for a catch up lunch at Heddons in Cockfosters. The venue looked modern and hygienic & we had Been very much looking forward to our girly lunch date. On arrival, we were met with a rather abrupt welcome. Once seated we ordered drinks and waited,.. & waited. Our drinks arrived half an hour later.. & we proceeded to order our food, each of us choosing salad dishes, as we chatted we couldn't help notice that customers who had arrived considerably later than us had Been served , patiently we waited further until almost an hour had passed. By this time we thinking of leaving, but decided to summon a waitress to explain our dissapointment. Our salads finally arrived, looked appetising, but my Grandsons meal arrived with no veg as described on the menu.. We had to ask for this.. & were met with an unenthusiastic response from a most arrogant waiter, by this time we were less than impressed and decided we would absolutely not be ordering dessert. We asked for our bill and were happy to be leaving.. A female waitress helped to waver a reduction on the bill, however a tip just wasn't on the cards due to the complete lack of courtesy and appallingly poor service. I might add that at all costs, avoid the caramelised pear & goats cheese salad.. I've felt queasy and unwell since my visit. As we were leaving, the same female waitress requested that we visit again for a 'better experience'. We absolutely will NOT be doing so.

Very dissapointed with the rude arrogant & appallingly slow service, part of the menu discription missing from the meal... Unenthusiastic response when expressing our views. Absolutely will never be returning to this venue in the future.

Today I went to @heddonskitchen I had their buttermilk chicken burger, a mango strawberry, banana smoothie, and then afterwards I had the Greek pancakes & a hot chocolate with cream & marshmallows. My mum went for the salt beef sandwich on rye. The buttermilk chicken was seriously unreal !! The burger itself had a gorgeous fillet of fresh chicken covered in panko crumbs. The burger was full of asian slaw and jalapeños too. It was just bursting with these amazing flavours. Their slaw is homemade & so tasty & has a lovely spicy taste to it which really went so well with the burger. The burger seriously was a winner for me it was probably one of the best buttermilk chicken burgers I’ve ever had & with the Asian slaw and jalapeños & the juicy chicken it really set off my tastebuds too. The burger was also a messy one - just how I like it 😋Also, their chips were made with Cyprus potatoes which truly are the best!! Mum said her salt beef sandwich was lovely & was really good salt beef. It was obviously also filled with pickled cucumber and mustard 😋 she said the rye bread was lovely and fresh too. The Greek pancakes were lovely to end with, they were basically a stack of 3 blueberry pancakes covered in Berry compote, toasted walnuts, Greek yoghurt drizzled with Cyp honey and cinnamon. The pancakes were lovely & fluffy & soft & the compote really went so well with the honey and the walnuts and pancakes, the whole plate was just mind blowing. I’m usually more a Nutella pancake person but this was definitely a game changer for me, the Greek yoghurt was a great addition to it too- the flavours were just perfect all round. Oh and their hot choc was just to die for and they actually use proper chocolate not powder. All in all @heddonskitchen is definitely a winner for me I couldn’t fault anything whatsoever. Initially my and boyfriend and I wanted to try something new in the area and little did we know, we would stumble across this gem! After leaving a cafe nearby because they had very few unappealing veggie options, we found Heddons Kitchen! Lets talk service - The little things count just as much as the big things! The staff at Heddons were just so lovely. I wanted to sit at a table that had already been reserved, the waiter followed up the request after 20mins (which he said he would do) and came back letting us know it was available if we wanted it. During my meal I found the pepper grinder was jammed so the waiter fetched me another one within seconds.. BASIC STUFF PEOPLE, love it when the service is provided properly! Overall, the service was quick, we were sat down straight away and food arrived quickly considering I only had 45mins before I had to leave for work. Get in my “veggie” belly! - I saw their grilled chicken panini and immediately decided I wanted the veggie version! I wanted to customise the panini to the point that it was not the same dish. The waiter was very helpful and provided me with a simple alternative. My boyfriend got the chicken panini as it was and said he thoroughly enjoyed it. The simple meal was just so fresh and delicious, we couldn’t stop talking about how good it was! ** Great options for vegans, veggies, pescatarian and meat based diets because they give you the option of making your own breakfast in addition to having options on the menu. I personally found this unique and convenient. ** Atmosphere- The surroundings were cosy, pretty and characteristic. Music created a lovely vibe, service was super helpful. They also had handy info on the wall, like venue for hire and outside catering service which is super amazing to know with a background in events. In the end we had to rush off and the waiter who initially greeted us left the restaurant just to wish us a good day -Which was just so adorable... It got me thinking yeahhhh they are getting a good review haha
