Hebe Restaurant and Cafe in Cheltenham

Found this gem in the middle of town by chance. Didn't even notice there was a restaurant there. I'm so so glad me and my wife decided to give it a go. The staff gave as a very warm welcome and offer us a set menu for our lunch that was extremely tasty, very well presented and at a really good price for the quality of the food. Thank you so much Ilias and Delilah for everything. Definitely we'll be back shortly. Need more places like this in Cheltenham

You’d not know this was here from the street! Even the taxi driver said “No, there’s no restaurant there!” We had a really lovely family birthday meal here. They accommodated a large party at relatively short notice. The food was delicious and the service wonderful. They even created dishes especially for our children. Thank you! We’ll be back some day!

Disappointing. The restaurant is in what looks like the basement of an apartment block and you enter through a hallway which is strange. It is nicely furnished but lacking in atmosphere. We went for lunch during Cheltenham Literature Festival week when it should have been really busy but there were only a couple of other tables occupied which meant it was even more lacking in atmosphere. The menu looked really interesting and lots of choices of light meals and main meals. I opted for the broccoli with burrata and a chilli dressing which was three pieces of almost raw broccoli with a spoonful of burrata on top and some chilli dressing which barely tasted of anything - no bread. My friend had the Caesar salad which was a few leaves of cos lettuce chucked on the plate with some breaded chicken breast basically cut up and a few croutons with a mayonnaise - the presentation was awful and there was no parmesan and no olives. We had a bottle of water and a tea and coffee and it was £40. Wouldn't go there again - promises a lot but doesn't deliver.

Excellent, tasty sunday lunch at this hidden gem of a restaurant. It is not what you expect at the entrance to an apartment building. Very good quality food and portions. Staff very friendly and attentive. Worth the price.

Wonderful staff, a beautiful restaurant and some of the best food in Cheltenham. Highly recommend the salt baked celeriac and the souffle!

Just wow!. Have eaten out a lot and this was the finest dining I have had for a long time. Beautifully presented with exquisite delicate flavours. Great balance. Pork belly, beef fillet and octopus all melt in the mouth. Desserts were equally excellent. I could go on. Oh, and the staff are very friendly. I will definitely return when next in town.

We visited with my partner after seeing the reviews and I have to say the expectations were met and exceeded,the service was great and Delilah was very helpful with wine pairings, the food was tasty and beautifully presented, I will definitely recommend a visit as I think is one of the most prestige restaurants in Cheltenham if not the most.Thank you all for a lovely evening, we will definitely be back.

We decided to book for lunch last week having read the positive reviews .The restaurant is spacious , airy and attractive and the food was absolutely delicious . The two and three course menu is good value and we will definitely return .Highly recommended !

We went to one of the round the world evenings - Spanish. Excellent 3 course meal for £24. Food was gorgeous and service was good too. Relaxed atmosphere. Will go again

Nicely presented restaurant and the waiting staff were excellent. Slightly disappointed with the food. Starters were lovely but the main which was belly pork was quite dry and the whole dish tasted salty. For an expensive restaurant I found it disappointing and would expect a higher quality for the price.

Our first visit - to be honest we hadn't heard of Hebe before, and its location on the ground floor of an upmarket block of retirement flats near the Ladies' College means that you wouldn't really notice it when passing. Booked for a Saturday night dinner after finding a lot of other restaurants in Cheltenham already full. Arrived at 7.30 to find an empty restaurant, but the waitress assured us there were other bookings. Unfortunately for the restaurant, a large booking subsequently cancelled and so it was just us (a group of 3) and one other couple. Normally this would be off-putting, but Hebe still had a good atmosphere. The decor is great, the waitress was lovely, and it was nice being able to see the kitchen. They played great music too (well, it appealed to us 50-somethings). Passion fruit martinis got the meal off to a very good start, and all the food was delicious and well-presented. Will definitely return.

I booked this restaurant for lunch on the off chance. I was surprised at the location but so not be put off by this. The decor is light and airy that is really good. We liked that there is a set menu and is great value for money. The food and service is excellent and would recommend that you try this gem

I went for the '7 countries in 7 weeks' season This was Mexican week, very good value at £23.95 for 3 courses. The food was all fresh and delicious, the service was delightful and the setting modern and stylish.

Had a fabulous meal at the Greek night. Delicious meze selection to start, then we had the moussaka ( looked huge but surprisingly light) and spinach pie for mains. The accompanying salad was so fresh...proper tomatoes that tasted of tomato! Lovely staff and great ambience.

All round great experience! Super tasty, authentic food ( even sourcing proper tasty tomatoes like you only seem to get abroad these days.) Very friendly attentive service in attractive surroundings. And on a hot humid night, the temperature was perfect....between the 4 of us, at least one is usually too hot or too warm, but we were all good! Will return to try their normal menu...

Absolutely incredible restaurant - the ambience was spot on, nice and relaxed but with some really nice music playing quietly in the background. The food was an absolute delight and both myself and my husband agree it is the best food we have ever eaten in a restaurant in cheltenham (baring in mind we have tried all of the ‘higher end’ restaurants such as the Ivy, Queens Hotel etc). The service was impeccable - a young lady called Delilah served us and it was honestly so refreshing to have someone who was genuinely interested in talking to us rather than simply just taking an order. She was wonderful. We would recommend this to anyone and we have already booked to come back in august to try their Greek night having learnt that one of the chefs is Greek himself! Fantastic, 5*

Fabulous night out! We were so surprised how lovely the restaurant is, it is a modern building with a stylish interior, it's very light but also softly lit when it goes dark. The food is Greek mezze but built that each dish shares some elements....

Ok....So I never write reviews but Hebe deserves one. A good, positive one. We ate on Thursday's Greek Night - fixed menu. Although it's not cheap, I would say its bang on for the price/quality ratio. We've paid a lot more for disappointing food at plenty of restaurants. The portions were generous and the fish I had was perfectly cooked. My wife had the Moussaka and that was delicious too. Nice atmosphere and lovely tasteful interior. We loved that you can see the chefs at work. Thoroughly recommend Hebe.

This is THE BEST restaurant in Cheltenham. We had the privilege to sit at the Chef's table for dinner and the food, ambience, service, experience, everything was nothing less than fantastic. Will be back many times for sure!

Is this the best kept secret in Cheltenham? With super service – Delilah is an absolute gem – and delicious food, Hebe may be tucked away up a side street but it’s well worth the detour. Their creamy wild mushrooms on sourdough with truffle are to die for – as is their cheese soufflé. We loved our lunch so much we came back for starters, wine and coffee (both also excellent) a couple of weeks later. Add Hebe to your must-visit list. You won’t be disappointed!

I would say it’s a hidden gem! They’ve only been opened for a couple of months now so I feel like many more people should find out about them! The food was delicious! We had special of the day which was venison with artichokes and it was amazing! Also had a cheddar soufflé for a starter and you have to order it when you’re there - it’s a must try! The interior is super nice - modern but cosy. But let me tell you about the staff because that’s who is responsible for most of your experience in a restaurant - they are so lovely! What a find - so happy to discover this restaurant- we had heard rumours that this restaurant had been taken over by a chef from Barnsley house, where we have also had amazing meals and celebrations. We were not disappointed- we had the most amazing lunch with such attention to detail! The menu was varied but to the point and we were delighted to see a seasonal menu created with such passion. My 2 year old toddler was welcomed with open arms- the service was incredible and very attentive to everything! Beautifully appointed restaurant just a short stroll from the Promenade & Montpellier. The new team here ( Chef from Barnsley House) offers a warm welcome and have huge plans for the future.
