Hawthorne Farm - Dining & Carvery in Leeds

Good was cold vegetables were hard and only one piece of turkey when ordered 2 meats poor

Food was nice but only received two meagre slivers of meat with each carvery we ordered. We’ve normally received more when ordering in the past.

Most disapointing, ordered from a carvery, but overloaded with veg. mashed potatoies a tasteless dull coloured, overcooked roast potatoes, then the meat , one slice piece of grisly beef, two small slices of tasty turkey, plus a few small offcuts.

Not the best couliflower rock hard ordered three meats only got two

Really disappointing experience. Mash, Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets were missing! I had enough stuffing to feed an army … as long as they like cold food. Such a shame!

Don’t listen to what I asked for lots of mash potatoes cauliflower and broccoli peas carrots gravy your pudding not Brussels sprouts didn’t receive the custard too

Came for Carvery last night then came again for the buffet breakfast this morning before our flight. Lovely food both times

After a morning of walking in the countryside, a carvery at Hawthorne Farm is just the ticket. By far better than other carveries in the area. Popular with everyone, showing how great a restaurant it is. Jade was excellent in checking we had everything we needed. Absolutely perfect. Well worth a visit.

food was cold and I ordered 2 carveries i believe i received 1 carvery and a child's carvery as there was considerable difference in sizes of meals will be very reluctant to order again😡

🌟 First class 🌟 Only called in because I was picking family members up from the local airport. Atmosphere was very peaceful and calm. Fantastic service from all members of staff. Very pleasant, polite and friendly. Coffee and cake was delicious. I didn't eat it all so was provided with a takeaway box. Excellent idea to have a buy a book and donate to charity. Definitely recommended.

We came here rather than eating in the airport and we will be back for sure! The carvery was delicious and the lovley Dee who served us was welcoming and helpful.

Lovely carvery served by very professional, friendly and helpful staff, particularly Beca on the bar and Dee checking on customers at the tables.

This is only the 2nd time I've eaten here, had the carvery twice as then I don't have to buy food for on my flight. The carvery is lovely, only one veg missing, garden peas, then I'd give it 5 🌟

Food was delicious.. thanks Donna.. the lady who served us at the bar was lovely i didnt get her name but she said she hadn't been there long. Only thing i didn't like is when a check bk was done the young girl took our pot which left us with no serviettes or cutlery. Other than that i enjoyed the visit!

Nice warm welcome and friendly staff. Food was very nice and hot. My only criticism is that website says food served on a Friday till 10pm. But at 750 (table booked for 745pm) we were informed upon ordering that the carvery was closing and to go get our food immediately. Still plenty of food left so that was good. We were then told when we went to order puddings that the kitchen was closing it was 845! And it was only once I pointed out that the website says food served till 10pm that I was informed that the staff was closing the pub at 9pm.

Food was quite good and good value for money

Service was abit off this evening. The vegetables were not of a terribly good standard, but as it was late and we were hungry it was not the main issue. I was ignored at the bar by a male member of staff. Sophie had been walking towards the bar and straight away acknowledged me and attended to my request, even though she may have been on her way to do another task! I felt this level of customer service she showed on this occasion and a few more points throughout the evening outshon from other members of staff.

Really enjoyable. Lovely food: and a dessert offering to die for; literally, if you already have diabetes lol. Great for kids and families. It's "Comfort food in comfort"

As usually excellent carvery , quality meat served hot with an great selection of vegetables. Staff were pleasant and helpful especially Layna with her friendly smile and good customer service.

We booked the Christmas Eve celebration menu for 3. From entering the restaurant and receiving a lovely warm welcome from the manager to leaving, the service was excellent. Every member of staff were so knd. The food was perfect and the Xmas pudding (home made by the chef) was the best we'd all ever had. Thank you to you all for our perfect Xmas Eve!

Food was stone cold, plates were red hot actually burned myself on one wasn’t warned by staff, my cutlery was taken away before I could use it, all in all 50 pound down the drain, Carvery veg tasting like it was cooked in pond water, never coming here again, very lucky I didn’t ask for a refund abysmal

We was greeted upon entering and escorted to our reserved table. It was christmas day and the staff were very professional and the decorative tables were beautiful. The food was outstanding. Will be booking again

Came in for a large Carvery. Food was semi- warm. Not a lot of options for extras with this. Very limited. Could do with more people serving as well as it was relatively busy. Didn’t get asked if I wanted ice in my drink. Threw up straight after

Went for breakfast. Scraps of hash browns left, no scrambled egg, no mushrooms,cold beans. Limited veggie options. Cold tea. Will not be returning

Great food. Got off our flight and needed some proper grub. Cannot complain about the Carvery. Dee was great too getting us some more gravy! 5stars!

it wasn’t awful but it wasn’t good. food was just overall mid - not worth paying for. my boyfriend had a burger and said he’d rather have a rustlers. wouldn’t come back unless my nana suggested

Had a nice meal and a couple of drinks, went for a pint at 09.22 and where told the bar was no longer serving, despite the website and sinage saying 11pm closing the manager came over and told us and others it was that time and he had already given us 30 minutes extra, so needless to say we will never darken this door again.

Right so we will start with front of house the bar lady seemed like we were a bother but took our order either way the young lad who brought our food was a very nice lad spoke politely but seemed a little confusing towards the end The food We ordered a combo stack burger at 12.49 The chicken breast on the burger was amazing and coated in the wild butter milk coating that was Crisp and amazing however the beef patty was clearly just a frozen burger patty not to mention it was pink in the middle and didn’t taste very pleasant either the chips were very crisp and nice the colslaw was to die for so over all it wasn’t terrible The confusing server then asked if he could get us any deserts so I told him our order for him then to say order at the bar mate :s other than that ain’t a bad place just go for the chicken burger not the beef burger

I had a lovely meal at Hawthorne Farm on Boxing Day. The service from Dee was great and she made us feel very welcome with her friendly manner. The carvery was amazing!

We booked here for Christmas honestly wouldn’t feed it to my dog pigs in blankets was raw too

“Is that supposed to be a veggie sausage?” I’ll attempt to balance my criticism of the ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event with some (in some aspects) deserved praise. It was very clear that for many of the attendees, the event was enjoyable, their customer service experience exemplary and their food of a good standard. However, when a server visits your table, takes a look at what another server has left a customer with (picture provided), I can only conclude that our own experience was that the customer service lacked empathy and was downright insulting and the food of a very poor standard. It is no longer the 1990s and vegetarians should not be treated like lepers with the fare offered. On ordering breakfast, we were told that vegetarian sausages would be brought to the table for my partner and I. On bringing the one cremated item out for us to share, we were told that “…there are only two left” and we were the ‘lucky’ recipients of just one. You just wouldn’t bother would you. You’d apologise, say that the menu that states ‘We’ve got veggie sausages too of course’ was wrong and see if there was anything else you could do to serve the paying customer. You wouldn’t leave it for your colleague to come over and apologise for and-read this bit slowly-two adults being served with one vegetarian sausage-let alone one that looked like this. Quite apart from charging them us for a nine month old eating a child’s breakfast when he quite obviously didn’t eat anything (“He’s only got two teeth!”) with the vague reasoning that “It’s an event” was also very disappointing when the event concerned was a thirty second photograph with Santa. In fairness, we were offered a discount for this; though 10% put me in mind of Scrooge dismissing the two Portly Gentlemen. £8.99 for a nine month to have a photo. “Well, you’re getting some money off aren’t you?” we were patronisingly told. Bah humbug indeed. We referenced the incinerated item (decided it’s unfair to call it what it was marketed as) on paying and were asked ‘Well did you tell a server?” When we said we were told yes we had-this was one of only two items available for two adults to share-the response of “Well I’ll have a word with them” failed to offer any repentance. Who is ‘them?’ The wholesaler? The chef? The server? 90s DJ Mike McLean? The Harlem Globetrotters? We’ll never know, though I’m not sure it excuses what we were offered with no hint of an apology. As I said, for many people I’m sure this was wonderful. For us, this was a a real disappointment. "A poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every twenty fifth of December!" said Scrooge, buttoning his great coat to the chin. Now Charles Dickens most likely wasn’t talking about the Breakfast With Santa event 182 years into the future. But he was definitely onto something.

the food was cold, one roast potato each which were hard.The meat was OK, although the gammon order barely had any gammon and had beef and turkey with it like it had run out!! This was a £60 order for 4 , I wouldn't have paid £20!! overall very disappointing and won't be ordering from here again . We were really looking forward to it and expected more for the price to be quite honest we are still hungry!!

For the price and the amount of meat that you get 2 little slices of beef wasn't worth it.

Loved Breakfast with Santa, great service with the Elves! Good craft session to entertain the kids. Lovely hot Breakfast, missing pancakes though and maple syrup!

Poor food, really poor service behind the bar, went for a family Xmas meal and took ages for everyone to get there ticket and food. Will not be returning

A very poor experience. Was told the wait for food would be about 25 mins but turned out to be about 40 mins. Food wasn’t really as hot as we would have liked. The onion bajis were soggy on the inside and the tikka masala curry tasted nothing like a tikka masala. Wanted to order coffee and teas afterwards but had to wait for about 15 mins as coffee machine was being cleaned or repaired. Was just a really poor customer experience all round.

Sam was lovely very helpful and accommodating

A welcoming place to eat,came here after flight from Benidorm, food was glorious and can recommend the Steak n Ale pie,

A really nice pub with a good selection of vegan food. I had the cauliflower wing salad which was huge and tasted amazing. Finished off with a vegan Bakewell tart and ice cream. Both were tasty and the value was amazing. The menu has lots of other things on it for vegans. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. The carvery isn’t as vegan friendly, you’d be eating toast vegetables and potatoes only but great for vegetarians.

Staff were very nice and helpful. The food was decent, meat well cooked and veg the same.

Missing items I paid extra for! Food was flat cold, only 2 veggies sent in the carvery- all rock hard, and crusty!meat very little , gammon was pure fat, tiny slither of beef was like leather turkey was ok. Rock hard potatoes and about 2tbs of gravy in the pot! I’ve had better from a tgtg bag at a fraction on the cost! Hugely disappointed- it went in the bin and now sat waiting for a pizza! Will never order from here EVER again!

Lovely environment and service was spot on. Sam who was working the evening we visited - offered to help my wife and mum with their plates and carried them to the table for them when we got our carvery - he was kind, attentive and helpful. Quick service from start to finish. Food was really nice and hot. Grace was very attentive and lovely. Menu update has done the restaurant well :-) we will be coming back after Christmas!

Carvery is spot on and so is the cake

Although the food was good, my wife mentioned to me that the service at the carvery was slow. she had to wait a good ten minutes for the chef to appear and that was only because one of the staff had told him. To be fair though it was early evening and there were few customers. She mentioned that the vegetable tureens were almost empty and the vegetables were dried up. On the other hand my Crispy chicken Medley was good and freshly prepared.

Came here for a daytime meal. Plenty or options on the menu. And for the portion sizes, prices are great. Would definitely recommend this.

quite a cosy atmosphere, and tasty food. the service could be a bit better as the staff are slightly stoic, but nonetheless i would eat here again. the yorkshire puddings are massive.

A last minute dinner out with the family, we didn't book but there were tables available for walk ins which was great. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. We ordered 3 carveries and 1 lasagna, the lasagna was lovely and no complaints. However, we were all a little bit disappointed in the carvery. The little bit of beef that was left was tough and dry from sitting on the hot plate for so long. I had gammon, which was lovely, I honestly could have eaten the whole joint! The roast potatoes that were fresh to the bar were barely cooked. They were raw in the middle. The rest of the veg was nice, although the green beans were a bit floppy. As usual, they had a good selection of veggies. We have been many times before and experienced a better carvery, so we left feeling a little bit underwhelmed this time. Hopefully it was just a little blip.

Great Farmhouse Inn, the staff are fab and service is great. Food choice is good and the carvery is what you expect, always good.

Came here for tea as we are staying at the premier inn for travel. Going in we were greeted by staff and sat down straight away. We got asked if we had been here before and we said no. Ordered our food on the app but as we were seated at the front near the exit I didn’t realise we had to go up and get our Cauvery. My partner ordered a burger so his came straight away. No staff told me about going up so I waited until my partner was nearly finished as no one came to ask us if his food was okay or if we needed any sauces. I then got told that I had to go up and order it myself. Once we were finished we just got up and left. We tried to make eye contact with the staff but no one said goodbye or see you again. It’s a shame as I was looking forward to this meal but the experience with the staff wasn’t that great. I know it’s a Sunday and they are busy but it just seemed like we were left. Otherwise, food was delicious and made the journey worthwhile.

The food is as always delicious, as well as a wide and varied choice. The surroundings are cosy and comfortable. The staff (Dee) was very friendly and helpful. Well done ado to the back room team that beaver away.

Had the roast and was the best I've ever had anywhere!

First visit as was nearby . Place was very clean , the staff were very friendly . Was easy to get a table , Ordering was easy on the app . Food came quickly too . The only problem was the Yorkshire puddings wrap I ordered came and wasn't the one I ordered . It was busy and I was hungry so ate it anyway . And it was very nice . I did tell the staff to let them know . The other meal was my wife got was very nice . The price was good too . Would definitely go back if in the area again .

Booked in advance but was put in a very cramped table due to other tables being so close had to ask other diners to move their chair so we could get out. Very long queue for carvery. We ate from main menu and food was good.

Not a bad breakfast overall, Yorkshire pudding was slightly tough, Sausage was overcooked, As a whole not bad quality for value. Would visit again for breakfast

Everyone was really friendly and helpful but Helena was exceptionally lovely and attentive, everyone enjoyed their food and we had a great evening.

Called in as staying at Travelodge and this was the only place nearby to eat got the combo burger very nicely presented and tasted lovely the peroni beer was nice as well the staff that served me were very polite and friendly
