I am very shocked to read all these bad reviews! My husband and I and our 4 year old daughter visited the farm cafe yesterday before we travelled home from our stay in Hawarden and wished we had found this place sooner! It was the best breakfast we have had in a very long time and my daughter’s pancakes were to die for! Not forgetting the lovely Chai Latte’s and Iced Coffees! We sat outside which was a lovely setting close to the log fire with blankets provided. The place also had a children’s wooden play park which was also a bonus!

No longer a Farm Shop. The butchers has been removed, the fresh fruit and veg has been removed, the deli counter has been removed and the pies have been removed. This is all to make way for as many tables they could pack in for the very expensive café, £8 for a sausage bap, seriously! The only food products you can buy are a very small selection of extortionately priced small packs of charcuterie, bread that's been left in the open all day to go stale and some cheeses you can get in the supermarket. Everything else is the usual bought off-site rubbish you get in these places like pencils made out of twigs and overpriced shortbread biscuits. If an expensive café and a £7 jar of pickled onions is what you're after, this is the place for you. I won't be going back.

The farm shop it self has some quality products, but the cafe is shocking, probably up there with the worse breakfast I’ve had, should of gone to Morrisons cafe, the sausages were deep fried, no seasoning what so ever and if your charging them prices it needs to be spot on.. I really would have a good think before you bother..

Stay away from this shocking over priced cafe and farm shop. £14 for a breakfast £12.50 for soup and half a sandwich We had to wait 20 mins just to get out coffee, I ordered a luxury hot chocolate, what exactly is luxury about cheap hot chocolate that tasted like it was made from water with cream and marshmallows.

Took my grandson to the Alpine Village but we didn’t find it. There was a very small plastic skating rink that nobody seemed to be able to skate on, and that was it really. Had a nice walk around the community allotment then left in a very muddy car.

Appalling, my grandson ordered a toasted cheese on sourdough. Bread cut a thin as they possibly could, used the old trick of putting the scant cheese on the cut line to make it look more. Once opened thin slice of cheese. No presentation, crisps scattered on plate and not even a bit of salad £8.50!!! What a rip-off. Chips £5.00 for a few cheap frozen chips. Sausage roll nearly £5.00!!! Disgraceful, will not be eating there again and a small brownie nearly £4.00.

After being hoodwinked by an Instagram misadvertisement we went to the Christmas ice rink which was new for 2023, for £15 each I was expecting a 45min experience on the ice (fake or otherwise) however the 'rink' was the size of a postage stamp and at full capacity, as two adults in their 20s it was quite embarrassing to be turning up to a glorified kids play park and paying for the privilege. We stayed for a overpriced coffee and toastie which was as other reviews have said, ok but not worth the money. Such a shame as I used to recommend this place to my friends! Would recommend deeside leisure centre instead!

Went to the farm shop for drinks and pastries one Sunday morning. Sat outside as we had our dog with us. Lovely atmosphere and decorations, with a Christmas choir singing in the background as it was a special Christmas market day. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow and chaotic. Told we had to wait for table service, which took 10 minutes to take our order. Drinks were brought quickly, but then waited 40 minutes for our food. We were told there was only one pain au chocolate and no cookies available, but there were lots when we ordered and lots available inside. The toasted tea cake still hadn’t arrived after 50 minutes and asking two waitresses. In the end we left and just paid for the food we had eaten and they couldn’t even find the ticket for our order. Such a shame, the food was nice, but given the high prices we expected better service.

We’ve visited the Hawarden Estate Farm shop on two occasions now and loved spending time there. The shop in which you enter is lovely and the coziness of the fire in the restaurant is so nice even in the summer! However be warned you will end up smelling like smoke! We brought our daughter to the little growers club and had a fantastic time! The two gentleman running it were so knowledgeable and really let our daughter get stuck in! We picked loads of fruit and veg that we got to take home and planted a few plants! We also did the trail which was lovely to explore the estate a bit more. The second visit We went to the forage and make class hosted by Mia and it was fab! We made nature Wands and crowns and Mia was so lovely, our daughter absolutely loved it. Was so nice to get outside exploring and then get creative! I would say the only downfall of the place is the pricing of the food. Everything is organic and grown there however it is very steep in price. The food has been enjoyable but just expensive. The Apple juice is freshly squeezed and is lush but again, expensive! Def would recommend a visit here though, loads of activities, exploring, and fruit picking to be done!

Felt compelled to write a review after reading a couple of recent negative reviews. If you enjoy a frozen Asda pizza, this isn’t the place for you. The farm shop is beautiful and a breath of fresh air for the area. The food is delicious, of exceptional quality and the service is great. Always greeted with a smile and served quickly. The pizzas are lovely, thin base, soft dough and quality ingredients. The cakes are also outstanding - best jam and cream doughnut I’ve ever eaten. Well worth a trip and great for kids. My one year old is always welcomed with a smile and the kids menu is great too. Big field for kids to run around and a play area with a fun trail around the camp site.

We called on the way home from our holiday at Poultry Cottage near Powys. The farmshop/cafe had just opened and we were greeted by a very pleasant lady who explained the set up and took our order. The food was amazing, I had the salt beef hash with grilled egg, an unusual choice for breakfast but so damn tasty. Salted pulled beef with onion, spinach and crispy new potatoes with egg on top. I regretfully had to leave some of it as it was a very generous portion. My husband said that his bacon sandwich was the best and tastiest ever! A lovely cup of tea with real tea leaves, not tea bags. We bought some cheese and tomatoes from the shop and would have bought some bread, unfortunately there was only sourdough so we didn’t bother. What is the attraction of sourdough? Horrible! In my opinion. It was quite expensive but we would much rather pay more for quality which this certainly was. Having returned home, I read some of the reviews on here and was quite shocked to see some of the negative comments. Not our experience at all! If we had read these before visiting we probably would not have bothered which is such a shame! We plan on returning when we are next in the area.

We are very local to this establishment and thought after 11 years we should give it a visit. However, we have always been under the misconception that this is a high-end posh venue? So, let's begin... We arrived with our 2 tiny chihuahuas to be greeted by what looked like at 1st glance to be a lovely camp site retreat. A fully functioning outdoor kitchen with a small bar area serving refreshments. Once seated, the reality hit! The campfire was more of a smoke screen! The overpriced pizza was burnt around the edge (bear in mind the edge was 6" wide leaving a diameter of 3" of topping in the centre of a pizza base) clever thinking by using less toppings to make more money on the pizza £14! 😳. Come back Domino's all is forgiven! The beer, which is served by a schooner (not a pint) another elaborate deception as it's served in an undersized glass. There is no way the volume of liquid was 425ml in the glass. 145ml short of a pint for £5.50!!! 😳😳😳. WHAT THE HELL!!! The service was quite slow and we could see that the place did not have regulars in as people were asking for directions to the loos and all the other patrons were visitors on holiday. Places like this, need to understand, although you are in Hawarden, which is not a posh area lol! You need to bring your prices into line with the type of clientele that you want to become regulars. We wouldn't mind washing our clothing everytime we visit, if your prices and service warranted value for money. Looks like this might be the next venue to disappear once the people stop visiting.

Last time we went there we ordered 2 Hawarden Sausage Sandwiches asking for the extra £1 on both sandwiches for the fried egg. After waiting nearly 20 min, both sandwiches came out with no eggs. We had to struggle to finally get the attention of someone to have the eggs coming. But another mistake, only 1 egg came out. No apology, no compensation, no customer service basically.Today we decided to go back. Bedsides the fact the croissant took ages to arrive as the baby was starving, again, our order got messed up:we ordered the same thing but this time they confused our sausages with BACON. We sent the sandwiches back. A staff member tried to reassure us the sandwiches would be ready in minutes and they did. But the sourdough was not toasted this time, not crunchy at all and they used the same eggs of the first sandwiches as they came out cold.Again, sorry if I repeat myself: No apology, no compensation, no customer service basically. They can't take an order properly (or the kitchen can't read it), they don't fix the problem, the issues continue even after the first mistake and they don't recover you or take care of you.Today was officially our last time here.

Excellent choice as the cafe area filled up quickly. While waiting for my lunch to arrive I had time to look around and see what people were buying, and plan my own purchases. The artisan sandwich was enormous, full of filling and very tasty, the coffee was great, and the Victoria sponge was delicious. Afterwards I wandered the various sections of the shop selecting fresh meat, bacon, eggs and produce, Llaeth y Llan yoghurt, cheese from the deli, Welsh cider - everything I needed to feed myself for a few days. Then I walked back up the hill into Hawarden ... slowly!

The food is excellent although compared to normal local cafes. But I think you pay for quality. There are lots of staff and they are typically pleasant and polite. The one thing that lets it down is that it's very hard to get served. I sat down next to a couple who were just commenting they had been there 15 minutes. She had just been up to order and been told (she said "rudely) to sit down and they would come to her. I sat for 10 mins and also went up and was told to sit down (politely) and they would come to me. They did but 5 mins later. At this point the couple still hasn't been asked for their order. Customer service message - don't cluster behind the confer where you can't see if people have sat down!Food was excellent tho so all is forgive

Sadly, we missed stopping here for breakfast, but stopped in later for a look. We saw some great looking food on the table, and bought some goodies to take with us, including sponge toffee, a bakewell tart, lemon curd, and brandy butter. Next time we'll stop for a meal. Staff were extremely pleasant too.

Good coffee shop with friendly and helpful staff. Coffee is excellent and there is a good selection of cakes which are generally good but not top 'home made ' quality. Size of cake portions can vary a bit so be careful with your selection! Today lemon cake was better value than chocolate cake. The bacon sandwiches are tender and tasty. The reason that this place gets three rather than four stars is that most of the produce is slightly or significantly overpriced in comparison with other deli's in the NE Wales, Chester or Wirral areas. For example, why pay a fancy price for certain items of cheese when the identical can be purchased for less elsewhere? One positive is that this is a nice place to bring young children who can run round outside in the play area and see live chickens.

This review is purely referring to the cafe. I would love to be writing a raving review as I really wanted to enjoy our dining experience. The waitresses were lovely. Very polite. The menu looked lovely online. I knew it wasn't cheap but had factored this in to our day and as a treat, wanted to eat somewhere with quality food. We ordered 2 children's meals (a batch, crisps, fruit & biscuit). The batch was a standard floury batch...nothing special, but that's okay. Biscuit was a pre-packed basic biscuit, not a farm shop biscuit. Crisps were cheap multi-pack, not hand cut like the ones in the shop. I could live with the children's meals, but did expect them to be a bit different to a play-barn meal (which they weren't). My husband ordered the beefburger. At almost £10, I expected something special. It was the flattest, dullest looking burger I had seen. It was served with a pile of rocket and that was it! Again, it was in a standard floury batch (nothing home-baked or special) . I ordered the steak pie & 2 side salads. The salads were lovely (puy lentil & sweet potato). The pie was cold. This was not mentioned on the menu, or at the point of ordering. When I asked if it could be heated up I was told that was not possible. I felt cheated as I couldn't actually eat my lunch! Cold gravy is not good! I tried it and gagged. I'm sure it was a good pie but eating cold (refrigerated), gravy-laden steak pie felt a bit like eating dog food. I mentioned this to two waitresses (minus the comments about dog food) but all they said was 'Yes. They are served cold'. They did not offer me to change the pie (I had not touched it at this point) or apologise that this had not been stated anywhere or mentioned when ordering. The meal cost almost £40!!! We had contemplated going for a cheaper pub lunch nearby, but really wanted a treat. Mistake! I was really upset that we had spent so much on such a disappointing meal. We do not eat out often, and love good quality food, but this experience really tainted our day. £40 is a lot to most regular people so the cafe should maybe reconsider what they offer for that amount.

A family lunch (four adults). Wonderful fresh food. Recommend the cold meat platters. Ideal for a warm day. The deli is well stocked with superb meats, cheeses, etc. Excellent selection of wines & (local) bers; pickles, oils, sauces, jams, etc. You'll be spoilt for choice!

This little farm shop is located just outside the village of Broughton, on the way to Hawarden, it provides local produce and Welsh beers and is helping the local farming community, there is a little cafe en situ which has a varied menu from sandwiches up to light meals, very nice.

my wife and first found the farm shop in February just after i retired and what a find the staff are great always ready to have a chat. The restaurant we have been sampling the breakfast once a week from February so to me that say's it all. It is not cheap but the quality of the produce out ways the cost. See you all next week

Food quality is good, but its not cheap either so I expected nothing less. Disappointed that no All Day Breakfast is served, especially as most of the breakfast items were available as sandwiches. Coffee (Latte) was OK but not memorable.

Called in 13th April and was served the coldest espresso I've ever experienced.Otherwise everything else is fine, but they need to warm the cup before making the drink!
