We went here Thursday morning for breakfast, we have been many times before. Breakfast was just off £15, it used to come with homemade bake beans which were lovely. Our potatoe shredded hash brown was totally unedable, couldn't even cut with knife and fork. When I eventually caught the attention of the waitress, she didn't seem really bothered. Feel you should be asked if everything is OK with food.

Sadly our lunch wasn't very good in the cafe, very expensive for food that just wasn't that good, there were 5 adults and 4 kids of a range of ages, and not one of us completely finished. We went here for pumpkin picking and lunch afterwards, the pumpkin picking was a little deflating too in comparison to other places we visited previous years. On the positive note, it is a nice place and a cute play area for the kids, also had a nice fire pit where you can toast marshmallows

This place was running a little autumn event. They had toasting marshmallows, a pumpkin patch and they were making bird feeders with little ones which my 3 year old enjoyed. We then decided to visit the cafe which was a mistake. It was the most disorganised coffee shop I've ever visited. Huge queue which I joined and was then told it was table service, so had to wait about 15 minutes to place my order. Another 20 minutes and our 3 drinks arrived. Then had to queue again to pay at the 1 till they had open. Absolute chaos. By all means visit, but swerve the cafe unless you enjoy a wait or it's empty.

Called in as in the area wanting some proper meat from the butchers. Was shocked that the butchers had gone along with the fruit and veg range and bakery. More like a cafe than a farm shop. The sign on the road says 'Farm Shop' not Hawarden Estate Cafe. Bit misleading.

I usually don't leave bad reviews unless the experience has been really bad. We had to wait an hour for some pies and sandwiches. One of the sandwiches seemed like it was taken directly from the fridge—it was so cold that I preferred to take it home and warm it up there. One of the pies was dry, and the other was burnt. It's a shame, as this was our last brunch with family before heading to New Zealand. I can't recommend this place, sorry. The only good thing was the staff—they were so lovely and caring, and the star is for them.

Someone wrote on here how this is now a cafe with a few expensive items to purchase and sadly I have to agree. I used to call here frequently in the past, from when it was just a shed and then it grew and the range of products were fantastic. There was a marvellous butchers, deli counter, fresh produce etc., etc., with a small cafe but I don't go anymore and I also know I am not the only one. It's lost it's spirit somehow and become very niche.

THIS IS NOT A FARM SHOP. This is a a very good cafe that sells a few over priced groceries. Stopped off there on route expecting to have some lunch and get some supplies for a camping trip over the next few days. The food was very good, but there was no butchers selling local produce, no fruit and veg, very limited bakery offerings. It is poor that this place has not bothered to update their web site and Facebook to reflect what they are actually offering, and still describe them selves as a farm shop rather than a cafe which is all they are.

We came here twice because we liked it a lot. It is by far the best coffee in the area. The bakewell tart was delicious, and the carrot cake was even more delicious with proper cream cheese icing. We also had pancakes one day, and venison stew. All the food was excellent. It isn't the very chapest option, but £14 for a big plate of stew with quality meat is not outrageous in my opinion. Called in advance to ask if they were still serving food (this was around 3:15pm) and they told us yes. We got there only to find out they meant sandwich’s only. We weren’t given a sandwich menu after we sat down, so we had to ask what they had. We ordered two sandwiches from a poor selection, which set us back £16.50. It was a below average sandwich with a few crisps. It also took 15 to 20 minutes to arrive and it was basically empty. Very overpriced and staff uninterested. What wasn't clear was the different food menus, we got the chicken shwarma and yes it was tasty but the portion size was small. The big kicker was paying 16.50 for it! Overall our stay at Hawarden was lovely. We camped for 2 nights in a bell tent in August and although the facilities and surroundings are great we felt the camping set up was pretty basic for £75 per night. The website only shows photos of the outside and we were expecting it to be a bit cosier having stayed in similar places before for the same price. We ate at the farm shop restaurant both nights and it had a great atmosphere. The farm shop was lovely, the food and service not so much, I'm all for paying for quality but this was not quality, £12.50 for breakfast is fine if it's exceptional, the sourdough toast I couldn't fault but at approximately £2 per item and to be given a broken egg, admittedly the server was young and probably didn't challenge this at the point of plating but that's not acceptable at the premium end of the price range, by the time the plate returned with a fresh egg, the rest of the breakfast was lukewarm. Our other choice was the buckwheat pancakes with fruit and coconut yoghurt, my partner doesn't particularly care for coconut and politely enquired if an alternative yoghurt was available, the young server said no but we could have it without, I asked if the farm shop sold yoghurt? She didn't know, I had to find the item myself and purchase the blackcurrant flavour as an extra item. Surely this could be offered? Even at extra cost, like I said I don't mind paying for quality, sadly the whole breakfast experience was a let down, even the microscopic flat white was tepid and £1 a mouthful. Avoid..........
