Haughton Chippy - Fish and Chips - Home Delivery in Darlington

Great no nonsense burgers (made just the way we asked) and fab chips to go with them. I stop in here on the way home for a bag of chips at least once a week and I'm always greeted by a friendly face 👍🏼

We got fish and chips from here tonight and it was lush! Chips were really nice, not greasy or tainted with and oily taste. Fish was a decent size and very nice.Defo be going there again

Had large fish & medium chips 30/06/2024 evening time. Live on the other side of town from the 'Chippy', always regarded from us as the best. Their chips were not their high standard, not cooked as some were raw. Rang to complain, offered a replacement, but living the other end of town was not worth a return journey. Chips deposited in the bin. Offered free chips next visit, not likely to return.

Ordered on line and you pay a service charge of 50p but when arrived at the time stated they hadnt even noticed the order and so had to wait for it to be started, good job it was to collect as would have been waiting all night for delivery. May as well have just ordered at the shop. Parmo was average, lots of cheese and very little bechamel sauce, chips hard and wrinkly. Fish was good

First off I ordered chips beans and spam fritter, I got all the way home and realised they didn’t give me any beans. I live the other side of town so it wasn’t worth the trek back. The chips tasted like they had been cooked in week old oil and the spam fritter was practically see through. Im sure if the oil was changed the chips would be lovely as they were lovely and thick. I won’t be using again but only did so because my local chippy is shut on a Sunday

Good scraps. Didn't have a small sausage ready, so gave us a large for the price of a small!

Wow! Wow! What's a fantastic chippy.. The food is cooked fresh to order it takes a little longer but it's worthy in the long run. As the food is gorgeous. I would recommend the fish crispy butter with a beautiful white fluffy fish inside. Also, I would recommend a pamo first time trying and absolutely fell in love with it. Will definitely try this again. Would recommend this place 100%..

Fish and chips ok but not the best

Went a few weeks ago half the fish wasn't cooked it was rubbery and raw then I tried again tonight the battered sausage was well overcooked and the chips were greasy and brown .. this place is vile now a year ago there seemed OK now I would even walk past them.. both times I have been sick

There's no choice about ordering large chips - 50p added to each dish whether you like it or not. The food was cold on delivery.

5 Star across the board order reguarly always on time and always great food

Well, I’ve not been here for years and it used to be the best. I rang my order in, gave a time to pick it up and arrived right on time. I asked if they would put the order in boxes with the contents of each box written on because they were for 9 people. The order wasn’t ready when I got there, the boxes weren’t written on. One of the orders was missing, the fish was very small for the price, the chips were hard and to be fair the rest of the food was ok. A disappointment for the price. Sorry won’t be back. You probably won’t want our custom anyway!

Ordered 2x fish and chips. It’s the first time we ordered from here and didn’t check reviews as it was local to where we are temporarily staying. The cod was shockingly greasy, and small skinny portions. The chips were equally unimpressive, completely tasteless and hard. Will not use again!

Took order then cancelled it last minute

Food is lovely, but they didn't get my online order right and when I came back in to ask about it I just got snottiness from the lady at the counter. Apparently the kid's chicken nuggets doesn't come with chips, and they didn't read the 'notes to chef' where I asked for no burger sauce on the burger and for scraps on the chips (what's the point in having that on the online process if you're going to ignore it?).

My Mam got fish & chips earlier and her chips rock my dad got the same but his chips were spot on why

Slow, uninterested staff, low quality food, tiny portions. Couldnt be more disappointed. Used to be the best a couple of years ago. Now its as if they have zero care for the business or their customers. £1.80 for a few rock hard chips and my partners burger couldn't have had more grease if they tried. Not to mention the lady wrapping the food pouring the salt on to the point they were unedible. Never, ever again.

Chips ok, fish terrible, curry horrible and my daughters gravy was brown water, disgusting......only decent thong was the Shandy!!!! Won't be going back!

Ordered fish and chips at 15:30 hours for delivery first of all was quoted 12 pound something when it turned up the driver wanted 14 pound something. It should have been delivered by half 4 however it was closer to 4:45. I made them aware of medical conditions that required food after taking medication soo I took them at a time I thought would be suitable. With the times quoted. Will never use again. Second time they couldn't get simple things correct

I ordered a hot shot Parmo. It was really good. Chip shop chips are always better. Garlic sauce wasn't great. But, I didn't need as much because "chip shop chips!". I'd have scored 4.5 star's but it's not possible.

Quite possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever had. If I had not of driven back to the other side of Darlington after collecting them I would of returned. Fish was awful small way overcooked and dry. I have had fish fingers with more fish content. £8:00 never again.

Chips tasted reheated curry sauce was taken from the fridge and microwaved large fish looked size of most standard size fish.

Lovely fish and chips. Only problem was where the queue started and ended.

***You need to have a system in place for online order collections*** We placed our order and the app said the it would be ready at 17.52. When we arrived there were 4 people inside and 1 person stood outside (she was also waiting to collect an online order.) There is/was nothing on the door to say what to do for online collections. When it was my sons turn to be served he realised that our parmos had been sitting on top of the fryer keeping warm as these boxes had been there the full time he had been queueing. We left with our order at 18.22. Our parmos were overcooked and cold by the time we got home to.

Disappointed. Delivery service needs improvement. Placed a simple order last night - 3 x fish, 3 x mushy peas, 2 x portions of chips. The girl taking the order seemed to struggle with the numbers, so I repeated the order TWICE to confirm. Our order still arrived wrong, with too many portions of chips (which ended up going in the bin) and not enough mushy peas. You might say a simple mistake, but the same happened with out last delivery, the numbers of portions were not as per our order, surely it cant be that difficult to get right,

Heard great things, but wasn't the best we've had in Darlington.

Ordered one and 30 minutes ago told via tracking that its on its way 20 mins later 4 phone calls told by staff that she will phone driver... Only that was a total lie... Told it won't be long its next one out there waiting for drivers? So what happened to its on its way 20 mins ago.? Not amused going down fast over the last couple of yrs now so bad now that I sadly won't be ordering again there are so many now they need to up there game I'm not the only one who has had issues,

We are so disappointed with our meal this afternoon. Ordered in the past and usually very happy and the food is tasty. Today though….not the case. Placed online order not long after they opened and I think we got last nights re-fried food. The chips were rock hard - couldn’t eat them. The fish was well over cooked too, very dry and the batter was also hard. The onion rings were so greasy couldn’t eat them either as they were too sickly. Sadly, this order has put us off ordering from here in the future. (Delivery was on time and driver was friendly and polite.)

Houghton chippyvwas one of the best & they opened a chippy on high Grange So was handy for us as we live on high Grange,we called in a few nights ago as my husband wanted a patty ...it said £1-95 on the board but we were charged £2-15 ,when challenged ,they said all prices had gone up ,I said well the old prices should be moved but they just looked at us ..not the best patty either ..won't be going back

The worst Fish and Chips I ever had! Arrived cold, tasteless and soggy. Stinking burned oil. Butter undercooked. Couldn't eat this rubbish for 20 pounds (!!!)

I always order on line and get delivery in the time they give me. Tastey white cod In crispy batter.

Put order in waited nearly an hour in the rain when asked how long would be heard the staff member tell the person serving it's been ready ages then the person serving sarcastically told me it wouldn't be long even though it was ready, I didn't wait for her to decide when she was going to give me it and left , not good customer service at all, when she could have just apologised for not realising it was there and passed me it It was just after 5 till 3 mins to six we know this because my husband asked another customer the time

First time ordering and the food was very good and delivered bang on time, parmo was fantastic. will definately order again in the future.

Lovely staff, walked in to order food. Were very busy. We did not rate the food at all, soggy chips, overcooked batter, microwaved fishcakes, curry sauce was nice, only think we enjoyed really, after being disappointed with a delivery before we unfortunately won't be returning.

Ordered n paid online in plenty of time, delivery was 60mins late. Had phoned after 15min late n told 20 to 30min - not another 45. Food is good but this level of service will cause me to think 2ce before ordering again

I ordered large cod and chips twice and not cheap and asked for lightly battered cod’s , They were so thick with batter you couldn’t see the fish and when I rang to tell the manager he was so disgusting with his answer and told me never to go back . He is very arrogant and full of himself , Won’t be going back . Not ever

Sorry to say tonight's 2 meals were very disappointing. We were recommended to come here and the fish was tiny, and I mean TINY and HALF OF IT WAS BATTER that was very thick and slimy on the inside. My. PARMO was over cooked and has almost no parmesan on it but a lot of cheddar or Red Leicester. Not good. Steve Dobson

We've used this chippy alot and i must admit they have been amazing, but lately i feel the customer service, especially from the manager has been shocking. My wife placed an order which was delivered incorrectly so rang up and the way he spoke to her was shocking. The food i feel has gone shabby since its become popular and they've taken the to the fact of getting as many meals out rather than quality of meals out. Sad to say we aren't going here anymore

Charged me more for collecting it rather than getting it delivered.. Backwards if you ask me. Fish is very thin and skimpy portions especially considering I ordered LARGE and lightly battered. Feel robbed.

Absolutely superb cod and chips, really fresh, crispy batter, no bones and so flavourful. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.
