The Pier was closed. Not sure if it was closed because of the bad weather or maybe end of summer season. If you're planning on a visit, I suggest you make enquiries. The White Rock Theatre and the adjacent White Rock Hotel are still open for business.

Hastings is a place where I feel like I'm in an Agatha Christy novel. Looking at the buildings built along the waterfront, I have the impression that ancient elites rested here. A walk along the promenade is very pleasant. The beach is huge, all rocky, the sound of the stones when the water takes them stays in your ears for a long time. You can find beautiful shell specimens there. There are plenty of small places where you can relax or warm up. Do you want to feel like you're on the French Riviera in England? This place is perfect for that!!!! If you want to feel the atmosphere of San Francisco and see the Victorian villas built on the slopes of the streets leading down towards the endless water, I recommend going deeper into the city or rather up 😉 This place made a huge impression on me 16 years ago. I always wanted to come back here and I did :)

We visited on a wonderfully sunny day, everything was closed apart from the bar on the pier. It's a sad place, it feels like a very deprived area. However the sea looked really inviting but I didn't have my dipping gear with me!

Was a little sad spoke to some vendors on the pier and said that the leaseholder has increased their rent, there was barely anyone around that day. No idea how these small businesses are able to make money. We came for a weekend get away from London. The beaches were nice, but it wasn’t buzzing. That’s probably why these business owners are struggling. The council and the pier owners should be working together to put Hastings on the Map.

The Casa de Pier serves great food with great service, and the view of the sunset is spectacular. However, the pier itself is a slum. The horrible temporary fencing makes it look like a temporary internment camp. It's a lost opportunity and that's tragic for Hastings.

Wish I’d have seen the Jimi Hendrix experience play here in 67. What a great place the UK was back then before our governments ruined the country and then Boris took us out of the European Union, Farage with his lies. Corrupt greedy politicians that do nothing for the people and just want to make their money and disappear. Sadly the seaside resorts are abandoned and things like Hastings pier get sabotaged. Thanks government for ruining our country.

Visited the first week in September and all I can say is that this is the most depressing pier. Most old piers are a nice place for a stroll and a view. site_logo

mikaylaa . 2024-08-26

MORE AT Google

A complete 50/50 experience, the act was sensational (we went to the lookalike night), so they are getting the difficult things spot on. However, it's like they try to muck up the basics. They ran out of draught at 3pm (event was 12-10). Toilets at the front were locked and urinals that were there in the past had gone, doubling the toilet queue. By 5, they only had warm cans of lager which at £6.50 a go, isn't ok. If I went to a restaurant and the food was cold I'd send it back, but the pier seems to think warm beer is perfectly acceptable 🤔. Security was off the charts, a lady in front of me had wine gums confiscated, and at one point there were 6 or 7 surrounding a lady in her 80's who had put her chair down in a place they didn't like. I had a good night, but it could so easily have been an outstanding night.

Attended look a likes festival on the pier. Great entertainment, queuing wasn't too bad. Downside chairs were not allowed despite people being allowed to take them in mid way through show, drinks very expense around 10 gbp per pint. Could not leave and re-enter venue. Parking located underground. Fish and chips available eat in pizzeria or take away. Quite expensive to eat in. If pizza and fish and chips is not your thing there is also another restaurant selling burgers etc. In the festival there was also food stalls but these were much more expensive for example 5 gbp for candy floss.

When we arrived at the pier there was a casually dressed man trading cigarettes with someone. He then asked to see in my carrier bag. He didn't identify himself but I assumed he was something to do with security. He said I couldn't go onto the pier with half a 500ml bottle of Ribena. He didn't explain why. We decided not to bother if I had to ditch my drink. It was a hot day and I needed it. So we didn't get onto the pier to see it. I have never been refused access to a pier in the UK before. I didn't even know members of the public could be denied access to a pier. There was no signage at all at the entrance to the pier so I have no idea what he was doing.
