We pre booked a table for 3 for a Christmas meal for my elderly mother as a treat. Unfortunately there wasn’t any Turkey so opted for the Chicken option. Looked good on the plate but unfortunately the carrots, broccoli and peas were tepid and watery. The carrots were old, rubbery and difficult to cut and the Broccoli was undercooked. Our waitress was fantastic and brought replacement veg but they were similar. She agreed that the meal wasn’t up to standard offered more potatoes which were fine. She also adjusted the bill to compensate for the issue. So the staff are great but the meal wasn’t an embarrassment.

Last time I was in here I wrote them a letter of many complaints. This time, they've had a refit, changed the menu and the attitude and all in all up'd their game somewhat. Had a really good meal. Hope they keep it up. However, dreadful choice of beers with no cask ales available, no excuse these days.

Average Chain Restaurant as you would expect

Skye was a delight. Very pleasant professional and polite. Ske accommodated our every need. We had a person with needs and she moved us 3 times until he wax comfortable. The food was hot and better than expected. The ambience is updated and modern. A thoroughly enjoyable experience . Well done.

Lovely unexpected visit today. Managed to seat us despite not booking, so we were lucky. Greated on arrival by Ellie and served us. Very quick service. Love the renovations in the building since we've last been. Fresh salad, and the main meals were hot when came out. Good value, great atmosphere. Will come again

My partner and I stumbled across this pub this evening and we’re not disappointed. Food cooked by Chef Taylor was really good. Service by Zoe was absolutely fantastic. She had a lot to do and was flying around the restaurant covering a lot of tables but kept her cool and was very attentive and happy to chat. Salad bar was a little lacking. Lots of empty items that could have done with refilling but apart from that, brilliant. Would highly recommend!

I visited on Saturday for a work Christmas meal and it was lovely. My waitress, Katie, was super friendly and very prompt. Overall excellent service no complaints. I had the festive burger and if you like camembert it is the food for you!

I went with my friend to have a Sunday lunch at the Unicorn today. We decided to go for the Xmas Dinner, a roast with turkey and all the trimmings. I can honesty say I've never had a worse Christmas lunch in my life. I also had no idea that it all came out of the freezer. Frozen unpleasant roast potatoes, a dried up stuffing ball, raw broccoli and cold peas. The wait to order and be served was long too. I did complain but was just told I should have said something when it arrived. Unfortunately, we didn't realise until we were picking our way through it. The salad bar was empty of a lot of items too and the place wasn't exactly packed out it. We won't be returning.

Ok for tasty meal but not if you are in a hurry.

First time I have visited 'The Unicorn' in many years. They had a 40% off food voucher, so decided to try it out. Nice layout, plenty of parking. The free salad bar was very nice with lots to choose from. I ordered the Scampi and my daughter ordered the Burger. Took about 10-15 minutes to arrive. Both dishes were very tasty. Nice waitress and helpful. The original bill came to £37.73 (for two meals, 1 x Tropical Cooler and 1 x Unlimited Drink) with the 40% voucher taken off it came to £25.73 - (BARGAIN) - will more than likely use again, with a voucher.

I don't usually do a negative review however, our experience on Monday 2/12/24 wasn't great. We has been seated 40 minutes and still hadn't received our drinks; when they finally came, along with our salad bowls, the salad cart was dreadful....not only was there very limited choice, but the lettuce looked like it was a week old as did the coleslaw and, the cucumber was slimy. An hour into being seated We still hadn't had our starters and were on the verge of leaving when they finally came. They were fine. Our mains were adequate but far from perfect. The coleslaw was the same as the salad cart...brown & old looking, the chicken, whilst edible, was dry and over cooked. We asked for a quiet table but got seated between 2 noisy groups. The restaurant was not busy, there were many empty tables. We have used the Harvester a lot and always been happy but this was well below par. My favourite desert is lemon blizzard but we decided not to stay for desert. Very disappointing especially as it was a birthday meal. Save to say we won't be back to this one.

Came here today after a walk around Saltram with the Grandson's & dogs for a drink & nibbles. Comfortable, warm seating in a bright, airy part of the pub nicely decorated for Christmas. Friendly staff, polite & happy to serve. Good selection of lagers, ciders, wines, and bitters, which are overpriced in comparison to other pubs in the area, to deter we think, workmen & groups heading out. A good selection of food on the menu, something for everyone, typical family eating house, but good value for money. We went for a 3 plate starter deal to keep us going. Plenty of parking & seating outside in good weather makes this a nice dog friendly place to stop for a drink or food.

Although initially there was a problem with the food Ellie dealt with it swiftly and handled the problem professionally and with great kindness and the problem was resolved.

Edit: First visit since the refurb and not impressed unfortunately. Had to wait 5 minutes for the staff member to come back and seat us to an area not chosen on the app because she had to go and get someone’s food. She was professional, just felt they were understaffed. The cardboard menu was also dirty, full of food. The salad bar was nice, but staff couldn’t keep up with filling the empty tubs back up and the coleslaw had brown gone off cabbage in it. It was 12:15 so not long after opening for lunch. The main meal was nice but not very warm. Sadly won’t be going back in any rush.

six of us went for breakfast, had the classic,good plate full, a bob the builder breakfast, could do with a smaller one if you are not a big eater, having said that food was very good, service brilliant, nice surroundings, deffo be back, many thanks.

grandson meal was just warm sent it back my ribs not cooked enough had to wait a long time for the food to be delivered had to as the lady waiter could we have a dessert she put the menu on are table Walk away and forgot all about us 5 people in total had to wait again before i had to again ask if someone would take are order for dessert then the bill had food added to the bill which we did not have plus it was not very warm over all not a good evening.

We've been a few times over the years, the service is great and the atmosphere is always busy but this time I wasn't impressed. The buger looked highly processed and there was definitely no "smash" to the smash burger, the chicken wings looked and tasted awful, the steak which was requested to be cooked as medium, was raw, almost blue and the half chicken was dry and over cooked.

Didn't realise how bad it was, had to ask to sit away from screaming baby, coffee machine broke so can't make a latte filter coffee was disgusting waited 45 minutes for eggs Benedict came out on cold plate with burnt muffin. Bloody expensive for what you get

I booked to go in restaurant area for our meal, girl took us to the bar area, i told her i booked restaurant end, she was quite shirty, and said all of it, is restaurant. Got meal and it was cold..atmosphere was crap..shall not be going back

We visit fairly frequently. Always friendly and polite there. Love how the salad bar is, and our server Stacy was absolutely brilliant, despite being really busy. Food was, as always well prepared. Tried the chicken skewers this time and will definitely have them again! Martin the chef listened to our request and gave us extra sauce too

Server very polite and restaurant clean. So much not available on the menu. Ordered a granola cup to be served with it later to find there was no granola in it. I was not told this before I started eating it. The server apologised and said she was told as she was given it to serve. Sausage bap for my daughter was good. Eggs not cooked properly for another dish...just not a good experience at all. No peppermint tea. Server had to keep apologising and ask us to order something else. If we had been informed beforehand I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere.

Brilliant food, an amazing new menu and our waitress Zoe was amazing, going above and beyond.

We had a table of 7 and a family of 3 came in and the old fella was stinking of poo he was even sat on a towel. Manager refused to sit us elsewhere or them saying it was to busy. One us was pregnant and actually threw up in their salad bowl yet they still said sorry can't move you. We then said there's room in the bar why can't we go there and eventually they let us sit there. When our food came out it was luke warm. 2 sent it back and had nothing I ate mine as had to as was having jabs and others just ate the chips. Manager said she spoke to kitchen and she will not charge for drinks. On paying we said that's not really good enough so they didn't charge for the 2 meals sent bk and knocked £20 off. All in all an expensive portion of chips. We also noticed they didn't sit anyone in our original spot which proves they must have been concerned someone else would complain about the smell. Won't be going back

Didn't have halloumi skewers but had all other halloumi options.Salad bar was not replenished and what was available was not appetising at all.Had to find a staff member to take food order and then again to pay!.The main meals were nice,tasty and piping hot which was good.Plenty of parking and outdoor seating area.
