Very disappointed was no chips with the food. Prefer fish and chips and ribs so my son is sat here just eating a fish! No point in ringing as it will take ages for chips to arrive and the food will be cold! Missing a salad which I paid for. Don’t read the notes on the order

A great atmosphere, and fantastic staff. The food was average, which was a little disappointing, but other than that, it was good.

I ordered a Family Sharer for 2 but it was missing corn bread, one chips, chicken gravy and chicken fries - hardly a substantial meal for 2 as was just a bit of rotisserie chicken, a few chips and 5 wings!!!

There was 9 of us sat at the table. The waitress was very good and attentive. All the orders went in and a long long time later after asking, the meals wea delivered, speaking for myself I had serf and turf the steak was burnt and cold chips 🍟 was all small bits and the chicken was dry. Being in the business for some years I would guess that the kitchen didn't keep the plate's of food hot, others on the table also complained to the manager. NEVER AGAIN

On arrival told that there would be a one to one and a half hour wait for food.

as a trucker I found this place by accident but it was ideal as there is a layby opposite for my 44 ton lorry to be parked safe over night I was made to feel very welcome and the staff were clearly a good match as you can see they are all friends big shout out to Danny behind the who clearly has no off button when it comes to work the viking trucker

The food we were served was of poor quality, especially for the price we paid. For example, £6.50 for half a portion of cold chips, and half a dry grilled chicken breast cut (and I use the term cut loosely) into "strips". I understand when staff are busy, but if adult customers are going to be charged between £14 and £17 for some chips and a bit of dry chicken I would at least expect to be served hot food. The staff were friendly and atmosphere was fine, I'm just bitter about spending £45 and having a rubbish lunch.

The Ultimate Mixed grill was almost inedible. I was not able to eat the steak it was so tough, the fried eggs were overcooked, the sausages were burnt, the gammon was burnt, tasteless and as hard as old boots. The ribs were tasteless. I do not think I have ever been served such a bad meal. The surroundings were nice as were the serving staff.

Always a lovely restaurant with excellent service (especially from star waitress Vicki). The menu is currently going through a change so there may be some items missing, but the staff are happy to help!

Fantastic service, Tracey was amazing, prompt when needed but didn't hover. Checked on us periodically, had great recommendations and aware of allergies. Will definitely be returning soon.

Three of us wanted the salad as a main meal but a lot of the salads were empty and so not much choice, this is the second time recently this has happened. Last time we asked for the salads to be replenished and after half hour they still were nt. So both very poor experiences. One of our party had a burger and he stated it was pretty rubbish

Spare of the moment to pop in . Food was very tasty and at a reasonable price . Staff where polite and helpful. Very clean and tidy place.

It's "okay" We were hungry after walking the dogs and decided to eat here. I wouldn't plan to eat here, it's just an ordinary eating place.

Really nice harvester one of the best I've been in food really good but a long way from home over 150 miles away

I imagine if you are thinking about the Old Castle you have been to a Harvester before and have a good idea what the food offering is. If you are visiting the UK for the first time or have somehow avoided a Harvester before we are talking Chicken, Ribs, burgers a free salad cart all to a national chain standard menu and surprisingly expensive for what it is. This particular Harvester is often very busy and at our last visit we were told the wait for our food would be at least 30 minutes even though we had booked in advance. Also don't try and use the Harvester app to order your food despite it inviting you to ask it just delays service and annoys the staff. Salisbury is blessed with many independently run food businesses where the staff genuinely care about the customers try one of those first!

Surroundings very nice . But today the burgers was hard and dry and the chips were soggy, definitely not as good as last week, whilst getting the salad a dozen meal's under light waiting for service might the problem .

Very run down. Food was average but cost more than it should have got the quality/quantity. The ceiling was leaking and it smelled damp.

We came here for a family get together,14 of us in total,for lunch. Service was brilliant,staff were polite,accomidating in our needs and all 14 of us loved the food and throuroughly rated the meals highly. We will most certainly be coming back soon.

Truly abysmal. Food took over 1.5hrs to come - for 2 burgers. Not warning that there would be such a delay and it wasn't exactly busy (more staff than customers). I would take your custom elsewhere

It's okay for a quick Sunday lunch. Had a surf and turf. The surf was battered scampi, more like a lot of batter and not much else. The chicken was dry and the steak was okay.

Service was really good, didn't have a table booked but one was found even though they were busy, steak was cooked to perfection, well done Leon, all round good visit.

Excellent meal last night. Vicki was our waitresss and she really was very attentive. The manager on shift was also pleasant and prompt.

Nice for a family lunch. The setting on the port is pleasant. An all-you-can-eat salad bar. It's not haute cuisine, but you can find what you're looking for there. Free parking a few steps away.

The carpets are dirty with food under the tables and chairs, along the window sill just filthy. The place looks run down. The food wasn't the best. The cucumbers and tomatoes looked yellow and slimy at the salad bar. The main had a piece of sweetcorn that was totally mushy gross. The tablespoon of coleslaw they give is mainly a glob of mayonnaise. Chips weren't all fresh, hard and stale.

If I could give no stars i would, waited an hour and a half to be told the order never went to the kitchen. On our wedding anniversary so it was supposed to be a nice evening. So all we had were 2 drinks and a salad bowl each, and we had paid for the drinks at the start when - surprise surprise - our booked table wasnt ready. Absolutely useless. I should have expected it as they had to give us our last meal free a couple of months ago because they forgot our food under the heat lamp and even the lettuce was burnt but this surpassed even that! The waitress also dropped a big lump of ice cream and spent a lot of time rubbing it into the carpet with her foot. Do not go there.

Worst food we have eaten here, hopefully a one off. Service tonight was really slow. Didn't seem enough staff? Had to get own cutlery (didn't when attending last time). Had to ask for salad bowl 3x for salad- and bowl was dirty. Couldn't find anyone to ask for a clean one! All staff vanished! Chicken breast was half a breast and so hard to chew, Mediterranean roasted veg was lovely, and I did get 2 portions of these but we only ordered one! The salad that was available was OK. Just a bit underwelhelmed food wise today - prices seem steep for what had. Didn't realise can only get refillable soft drinks either so expensive to pop in on a walk for a drink on way by!

Put a £60 order in through just eat only for it to be cancelled after waiting over an hour for the food and with a rating lower then 4 on just eat I don't think it was wise for them todo so wouldn't even bother with this restaurant what a piss take

Hadn't been to a Harvester before. Sat outside on the terrace. Enjoyed a very good rump steak. Staff friendly and helpful. Salad bar was a fun bonus.

I guess unsurprisingly it was pretty average. 30mins for 2 portions of chips, that ended up being cold some still slightly frozen. Thought chips might be a safe bet but clearly not. The beer on tap is good though, so maybe stick to the drinks! Lots of tables not cleared inside. Seems like maybe not enough staff?

Awful service, terrible waiting. They tried to bring us dessert before we even had our starters and were quick to do it, like 5 minutes. Then we agreed they would bring like 20 minutes after we'd start the main. But then, now I have been waiting more than 30 minutes after we finished our mains. I went inside to ask, and someone told me I was supposed to ask yo deliver the dessert. I do not recommend nor intend to ever come back here.

Lots of the items off the menu were unavailable. Food came out after about an hour of the order being taken, most of it was burnt or the order was wrong. The salad bar was okay but under stocked and kept having to ask for it to be topped up. Refillable drinks machine was rubbish, kept running out of Pepsi and giving soda water instead. Toilets were vile. And to top it all off I’ve woken up this morning and keep being sick, probably food poisoning from the mixed grill. For the price you pay in there you would hope for a better dinner. Very disappointed with my visit.

Staff were friendly, food was good and excellent value. Venue was clean and tidy.

A spontaneous road trip took us past this harvester and what a pleasure! Amazing place, good food and great customer service. Salads really good too. Great atmosphere and a lovely place to kick back in good company great weather and nice views had a great day .....thank you!

Restaurant messed up my order delivery driver did a great job

Not as good as it used to be. Came here for dinner and it was busy, which is no problem. We had booked a table and were told there was an hour wait for food. We sat down, took a while for our server to come over and take our drink order. She then came back 10 mins later for our food order and we hadn’t even received our drink order. There wasn’t much of the salad bar left, looked like it hadn’t been topped up for ages. Luckily for us the wait for food wasn’t actually that long and we got our mains pretty quickly. The food was still decent enough, no complaints about that. Our waitress although forgot our drinks was nice and friendly. Didn’t have a terrible experience, but it used to be a lot better.

We went here for my mums birthday. We waited 30 mins at our table before even being asked our drinks order we and then had to wait another 20 mins for our food orders to be taken. Once our food was ordered we had a 40 minute wait for it and could see it sat on the side for 15 minutes under the heat lamp. The food is always good at the harvester but the service is always bad. They do not have enough staff to accommodate the people in the restaurant and then on top of that they are taking food orders in the bar and takeaways. If they are struggling then these takeaway orders and bar food orders should stop so people in the restaurant are catered for. Such a shame but we won’t be returning again due to the service.

Very under staffed. Out of most things on menu. Very very slow service. No bowls for salad. Drinks not made correctly. Customers queuing before me told no tables free inside for them yet when we sat down a table with 10 chairs was free as were tables of 4 chairs .will NOT be going back. If it were not so late we would have gone somewhere else.

I was really unhappy with my experience at this harvester. I'm comparing this site to the other harvester restaurants I've been to around the country, and wetherspoons, which has a similar vibe. This restaurant was clearly understaffed. I arrived at around 6.15pm on a tuesday evening, and it was not overly busy, but by 7.15pm I still had not received my food. When I questioned a member of staff about this, he promptly brought the food out, which had clearly been sat on the pass for ages and everything was really dry, and overcooked. Quite easily the worst mixed grill I've ever had. Wetherspoons would have been a much better choice. At this point I kind of had to eat it as it as well, given that I couldn't face a further wait for another to arrive. In addition, there was mysterious brown water leaking from the ceiling into a metal kitchen tray, the soda machine was not dispensing the correct amounts of post mix, so all the drinks tasted weak and there was mess on a lot of the tables. The few staff working were trying really hard, but were clearly being overworked. The Salisbury wetherspoons is a lot nicer, cheaper and the food is of better quality. I'm afraid this experience has really put me off harvester.

Place was less than half full. Took over an hour to get food, and it had clearly been hanging around some time as it was only warm and quite dry. Yes we did express our disappointment at the time. Would not return. *UPDATE* Thanks for your reply. It took you over a month to respond, which was pretty much the same level of service we received on the evening in question!

The food was good, the service was very kind, but we waited for such a long time – more than one hour for a soup, then around 20 minutes for main dish... it tasted good, but I wouldn't go here anymore. Nevertheless, the salad bar was included and tasty so it was pretty cool.

Lovely venue and it was nice sitting outside. Service however was very disappointing. Waited over one hour for nachos (arrived stone cold) and a salad (ingredients were old and dressing was missing). Also ordered chicken wings and had to follow up on these twice before they arrived (almost 1.5hrs after ordering!)

It must have been a busy Sunday. We waited very long for our meal. Some items on the menu weren't available. Saying that, the waitress was great. Warm, chatty and handled it all well. Thank you

Great British food with prompt service. Couldn't finish it all actually. Clean throughout and good selection of drinks.

Not a great lunch at the harvester. We were informed on arrival that the soda and beer machines were down and we would only be able to order can or bottle drinks. This was just the start. It was my nieces birthday. Four adults and one child and we were not allowed to claim the £1. As the manager said that doesn’t work at our restaurant. We ordered our meals which took along time to arrive. When it did I had a half bowl of mac and cheese, fries had been sitting under hot lamps and had gone chewy, the only ring was like rubber near impossible to cut, don’t get me started on the dry crumbed chicken a soggy bread roll. We had to search for the waitress again to order drinks, when she took our plate and asked how the meal was I replied not great, I commented that I felt the standards and quality had dropped, too which we all heard her say under her breathe “like the rest of the place falling to pieces” The toilets were closed off and the whole restaurant had to use the disabled toilet(only one of them). Upon paying we could not find our waitress again and one of the other staff members just said we could pay at the bar as our waitress had gone on her break. While paying the bill we overheard the manager telling another customer that they understood that the food order was put in but they cannot serve them any drinks as the had to close the restaurant done as it was not fit to serve meals or drinks at this time. Guess we just made it out. Not the best time for my nieces birthday.

After waiting almost 2 hours for a simple meal I complained to the management. Surprisingly the next day I have a severe case of food poisoning and have to be admitted to hospital. Let’s just say my solicitor will be in touch.

Me and my friend starting coming here after the 1st few visits as it has lovely garden area but unfortunately this Monday just gone i never like complaining but me and my friend did as the food was so awful and the staff did not want to offer any thing else after waiting an hour and half so they just gave us hour money back so had to go elsewhere

Absolutely fabulous! Both women who greeted us and then served us were absolutely brilliant. Very polite, wonderful service. We were there Saturday around 7 pm. Very clean tables! Awesome food. We'll definitely be returning to this Harvester! (Parking was free, but spaces were a bit scarce, probably because they're great!)

Nothing was great. Service was absolutely shocking out server "Keiran" had absolutely nothing about him. No conversation no rapport nothingHe mumbles everything he said so I hardly understood a word he said . After serving out food we literally didn't exist to him, no check back until we had all finished our food. He then approached us to ask if we had finished and the proceeded to tell us he would clear our table once he had served another customer, 5 or so mins later no return. Eventually returned with menus for Desserts and cleared HALF of our plates! TEN minutes later and after I had watched him clear other tables, serve other customers and was in the process of cleaning another table I had to call him over to finally order our childrens desserts and ask for him to finally clear our plates. They ordered a brownie and we paid the bill a few minutes later whilst waiting for those desserts to arrive. He disappeared of the face of the earth, I literally wouldn't know how long after we left those desserts turned up or even if they had done so but a brownie doesn't take that long to ping!! Food that we got wasn't bad nothing to fault really but the absolute lack of service was shambolic . Maybe your server would be better suited to another job maybe one that's as far away from your customers as possible.

absolutely terrible food and service. we ordered 3.salads all of which came with little to no dressing, the halloumi was terrible it tasted like it was sitting out all day way too much salt on it and overall a terrible meal. We waited over an hour for our meals and we didn’t get our water refilled u til our meals came out. very disappointed with our meals the waitress didnt even ask us how our meals were. 0/10

Second time we have been to this restaurant and both times the service is exceptionally slow after ordering. The salad bar appears to have been forgotten to be topped up or people have just been filling up while waiting for the main meals.

Was quite busy and could only get an outside table . Food was ok … my chips were getting cold by the time I started eating them . Think they were a little understaffed . We enjoyed eating outside tho .

Had a meal out with family to celebrate my grandsons 16th birthday. Food was good but the lighting inside is pretty poor. Me and my husband couldn't read the menu because of poor lighting.

Harvester Salisbury, 22 July 2024. Our party was not told on arrival that it would take an hour and a half to get the food. I spoke to the manager, who promised times, both deadlines missed. When the food arrived 2 of the meals were inedible, jacket potatoes cooked to a cinder on the outside and black and to a mush on the inside. Other elements of the other meals were not to an acceptable standard. I asked to speak to the manager again and was presented with a completely different person, he told me the first person l spoke to was a shift supervisor. I specifically asked the first person if he was the manager and he said he was. I asked both alleged managers, would you eat this, they both said they wouldn't. A fifteenth birthday dinner ruined. The manager, or shift supervisor or whoever they were said, our bill would be waived, compensation would have been more appropriate. Needless to say, that will be our last visit to our local Harvester.

Good was nice but really slow. Starters turned up before drinks, we had to chase salad bowls and then go up to the bar to ask for the dessert. Friendly staff, but clearly not enough of them. Building was a bit tired and grubby. Needs a refurb.

Great service, lovely food and friendly atmosphere.

Great place, service fast, well stocked salad bar. My allergies were well catered for, the staff were very helpful and took the time to check menus and speak to the chef and Manager. I didn't feel under pressure to order quickly. Would highly recommend.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Accomadeted my allergies with no problem. I had my 16 month old grandson with me, and they were great with him too.

We stopped here for lunch on our way home from Salisbury, the food was great and the staff were all friendly and polite but we did have to ask for our salad bowls and waited around half an hour for our mains to be cleared from the table. I think our server was a trainee so not a complaint, everyone has to learn, just an observation. We would go back though 👍🏼

Very poor service today! When meal arrived I asked waiter if we could have some cutlery ( as none on our table ) also asked for mayo. After waiting 10 mins or longer I grabbed some from another table! After finishing our main still no cutlery or mayo! Also state of tables around us not cleared.

Went early for breakfast took time to come out but was nice and cheap and got a lot for your money

Really nice place with a nice beer garden plenty of free parking, nice bar area which you can eat in, and a large restaurant area. The food is really nice with decent size portions at a reasonable price so come hungry, the meet and great staff are very efficient as are the waiters and the bar staff, enjoyed my visit well done

Kieran was a wonderful server today, food was good but other people making noise about the football (that we were trying to escape) weren’t so forgiving of other people.
