3rd visit to the restaurant. 1st time was positive the last two wasn't. Plenty of seating but they tried seating a family in the bar area close to the toilets, and was a bit awkward when asked for better seating, dispite loads of empty tables I was told they were fully booked, but luckily for us one other table was available. Within the time we were there only 2 new customers came in. This happened the last two times. On the second visit, we were told there was no space despite loads of seating, I went to the car park and reserved a table and went back 5minutes later forcing them to seat us. Took 20mins to be served, food cam quick but was barely seen after. Took another 10mins to wait chase someone down for the bill. Not a great experience, didn't feel welcome. Won't be going back for a 4th time.

Calum was the best, nicest attendant/waiter that you could wish for. Service and food was lovely. First time my cousin and I have been here, normally go to The Compasses in Hornchurch but the lady on the door is a miserable lady and last time we went the food took ages to turn up and wasn’t that good. A refreshing change at this pub and such lovely service provided by Calum, he is a credit to your company, a nice, young lad with manners. You need more of him.

Came here with the family for lunch our server Leeann was very helpful and attentive. Very patient with us as we were a large group, we really enjoyed our food and would highly recommend!

We went on Friday and was served by Kim, she was fabulous; chatty and polite and gave us the allergen menu to check for a member of our party. She recommended wines for us too and we had a great evening.

We ate here for my mothers birthday and had a great time, she can be a bit fussy with food but Andrew (I think he was the manager) was very helpful and accommodating for us, the food came hot and quick so we couldn’t have been happier :)

Had a lovely meal here a few days ago with friends and it was perfect. Our server Callum was excellent as he was very kind and friendly. Despite having a baby with us also he was interactive with him and patient with us. The food was great I would recommend!

One staff member was really rude.The waitress was waiting on far to many tables at once.Salad cart was disappointing. Kept hitting my head on the light above my table,far to low.Didnt like it here at all.The food was fine.

We used to live in the area and were back for a family celebration and thought we'd stop by one of our old haunts! Service and atmosphere were great and the food was really great! we left full and happy. The kids got dessert, but I couldn't manage it this time. We'll be back next time we're in town!

Had a lovely family meal here last week. Food was great & the waitress couldn’t do enough for us. Manager even popped out to say hello & check everything was in order.

This is the Harvester at Gidea Park. Great food selection, especially if you like chicken and have kids. Brilliant service, always with a smile. A few months on and we're back again, same great staff and we'll priced food.

If you’re looking for burgers and chips or ribs and chicken nuggets then this is oven ready heaven… popped in for a nice Sunday roast … waited 5 mins for a table and a menu… and after a £4 mini bottle Coca Cola was extremely disappointed to find that harvester restaurants are now nothing more than an expensive jazzed up burger bar where the only thing that’s roasted are the peanuts… it was busy though I will say that

Service was really really bad Resturant half empty and didn't seem to be able to deal with a table for 2 as a walk in Ordered drinks and then waited 20 minutes for them to bring over 2 empty glasses for the refill drink Salad bar half empty, then had to stand there for over 10 minutes while they scrambled to refill after I brought it to staff members attention Then got starters before finishing salad because of the really long wait at salad bar Waited to order dessert for over 20 minutes with dirty plates on the table before flagging someone down and asking to order. The resturant was still half full at this point. Won't be returning to this branch as this was my first visit here, typically I goto the greyhound in seven kings or the beehive in gants Hill as the service is a lot better.

Of course the salad is good. Always has been. We had a couple of steaks, rump and Sirloin which were both a tad overcooked (ordered 1 rare, 1 medium) as they both came out well done. I wasn't expecting Miller and Carter but the quality was average at best. Still my grandson enjoyed the dessert so not a lost evening. Total was just over £30 a head and for the overall quality was a tad overpriced. I will go again but stick with the good stuff- chicken and ribs that I usually have.

We received a warm greeting when we arrived at the restaurant. Our waiter was extremely hospitable and attentive. Unfortunately while processing our order an error was made, so one meal that arrived was completely incorrect. The meal was returned to the kitchen and there was a significant wait time for the correct meal to arrive. This meant that unfortunately we ate our meals separately. The waiter was extremely apologetic throughout and compensated us with a complimentary dessert as a way of an apology. 5 stars were achieved for hospitality and the genuine apology received.

Sharon served very well, the food was good and she was quick with serving us, she was also really kind and patient.

Free salads were missing from order and toppings were missing from potato salad and coleslaw. Great shame, as the food we did receive was good but too many mistakes have been made with our orders, so we won’t be ordering again.

This branch used to be excellent, we generally drive past our local branch to get to this place but never again.... Jamie the branch supervisor was and still is brilliant. We were seated straight away, had to wait 10 mins before we were greeted by the waitress (Sharon). We ordered and had to wait another 10mins for salad bowls and even then only after asking. We then had to wait a further 10mins for drinks (again after having to ask Sharon) Food arrived after a further 20mins - cold to warm. The worst part: 1. 2 other parties arrived at the restaurant after us but received their mains before we got our salad bowls.... 2. There was hair in the Ketchup bottle on our table. On telling Sharon, rather than replacing it, she proceeded to squirt a portion of the bottle out and handed it back to us????? On ordering desert for the children, we asked for certain items to be replaced by other items - something that Harvester has always done for us..... however on this occasion, we were told "Harvester never do this" we insisted and all of a sudden it was available after all..... I personally don't mind it when waiters/waitresses are busy, but Sharon plainly just couldn't be bothered. Extremely disappointed, will not come here again.

I didn’t even wanna give a one star service was terrible Sharon the lady who took our order didn’t know what she was doing walked past us more than once and for the guy behind the bar don’t think he wanted to be there food was horrible my mum ask for a well done steak and it was more medium and and the pint of cider come half full absolute joke

Came today for dinner with a friend, food was nice, and even though it was very busy, kassidy was professional, friendly and made us feel instantly at ease! Fantastic service.

Food was quick and pretty good. Staff were top class, even with all the mess the kids made. We stared clearing up but they insisted they'd do it. So nice!

Leeann was absolutely amazing always came over to check of we needed any more food to see if there was anything wrong. Loved it.

Unfortunately an item was missing from the delivery but the rest of the items were as ordered. It was disappointing to receive a coffee cup sized Pepsi max when paying for a drink much larger than this. Unlikely to order from Harvester again as a take away as you get a better offer in the restaurant. This is a shame.

Restaurant atmosphere was good and our server roz was under pressure as not enough staff on duty only thing I critise was the peas was frozen cold not cooked but rest meal 7oz gammon was good

Booked a table for me an my friends last night and once we got there it was manic, but our phenomenal waitress Kassidy got us seated, asked us all if we had allergies straight away and even despite having to wait a little longer for food due to it being busy she kept making sure we was comfortable and had enough drinks. 10/10 would definitely go again and would definitely hope to get Kassidy as our waitress again.

Everything was lovely as usual. Kimberley was our server tonight, she was great and gave us as much time as we needed, we didn't feel rushed at all and she even put a candle in my son's dessert and brought some colleagues over to sing Happy Birthday without being asked! The restaurant is clean, the food is nice, the staff are friendly... 5 stars all round!

Awful experience, salad was stale and stunk like it was off, dirty environment, staff was defensive when I complained and we just couldn't wait to get out but we were forced to sit and wait as it took over 15 minutes for them to bring the bill when we asked. The manager, however, discounted our drinks off the bill - about £7 or £8 but our date was already ruined!! Would never visit again.

Dirty burger is a mean name and great tasting burger ,chips great addition too .

Came here with my husband and two kids. Our server Calum brought round menus and activity packs for the kids immediately. He had a kind and positive demeanour and was attentive to our needs/requests - going out of his way to add grated cheese as a side for our 5 year old. Would recommend coming here.

Really good family friendly place. There is a section for families as well. I went with my partner. He had the chicken burger which he loved. I had the chicken and waffles. I highly recommend it. It was so tasty. The fillets were perfect. I love the salad, pasta, bread bar as well which was included in the price. We will come back soon.

My family and I had a disappointing experience at The Unicorn recently. Despite arriving early to enjoy a drink at the bar before our reservation on Father's Day, we were seated promptly at a cramped table for two with an additional chair, located in a high-traffic area near the restroom and with families with children directly behind us. This seating arrangement wasn't what we had expected after booking weeks in advance for a special occasion. Unfortunately, the inconveniences didn't end there. A customer accidentally spilled a drink on me while trying to navigate the narrow walkway next to our table—a situation exacerbated by the table's positioning. Shortly after, the issue with my son's forgotten ID came up. While understanding the policy and accepting he should have bought it, we were disappointed that it was enforced inconsistently, especially given the change in staff halfway through our meal. We did have a screenshot of his passport which again I understand couldn’t be accepted but we were made to feel like we were pretending, he is 20. Moreover, there were further hiccups in our dining experience. My daughter ordered an alcohol-free cocktail and was charged the full price, and my husband's desired sides were missing. These service missteps, combined with the seating issues and ID incident, significantly detracted from what was meant to be a celebratory meal. In the end, we left feeling underwhelmed and dissatisfied. While we acknowledge that individual mistakes can happen, the accumulation of these blunders marred what should have been a special dining experience. We will be using the Compass on Abbs Cross Lane in the future.

Thought I’d give the Gidea park Unicorn another go, never again. I’ll be opting for the Hornchurch Compass location, much better in every way. It is really strange how chalk and cheese a chain of Harvester restaurants can be.

Staff were rushed and not very friendly because of this. Openly heard someone being extremely rude to an Uber driver. No smiles at all. Food was overcooked, although my family's was quite nice. Maybe they were just having a bad day, so I'd go in there again and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Whilst customer service training is important, I can invariably differentiate a genuinely warm welcome from that of a training course. Andy and Charlotte fall into the former and should be highly commended for the outstandingservicethey afforded me this evening. After an intense day in the City, I very much appreciated that Andy found me a quiet table to relax and that both Andy's and Charlotte's friendly and approachable manner made me feel totally at ease here. When your hosts go that extra mile, it should not only be acknowledged but celebrated. I do hope that the management here will be in a position to recognise this. After a stressful day, it means so much to be attended to in such friendly Buy professional manner. Well done you two! PS: I have just visited again today 8th June 2024, and received outstanding service again, this time from the affable and engaging Josh. Once more, well done, it made my evening!
