I am not used to write reviews, but as most of it went straight into the bin i thought i should do it. However Without getting into details, For anyone who has even the minimum familiarity about japanese/asian food pictures will be self explanatory enough.

Went today to get some food for collection. Wasn’t aware of a new management!!! Absolutely avoid!!!!! No salt&pepper squid.. Seafood platter had 2 prawns, 2 gyoza and 2 dough balls (with a teeny tiny peace of octopus in it) and loads of rice for £15!!!!?!?!!!! Also, absolutely no flavour. Beef curry was very chewy and half of the size than before. What used to be one of the favourite places to go now became a place not even worth the attention.

Like others here I live locally and often dined in and ordered from Haruka in the past, it was indeed a neighbourhood gem. We ordered takeaway tonight and the food was shockingly bad. The ingredients are of low quality and the cooking/preparation is terrible, food is very unappetising .

This place used to be amazing with great food, fresh ingredients, and lovely staff. I used to order from here often. However, the last few times I’ve ordered from here have been really disappointing. The food is flavourless and the portions have gotten smaller. I’ve come to learn that management has changed coinciding with the massive drop in quality. I won’t be eating here again I’m afraid. The neighbourhood has lost a local gem.

I revisited Haruka for the first time since it's reopening, and I have to say I was so, so disappointed. I was a frequent visitor under the previous management and the sushi/food was some of the best. Not anymore! The website and menu appears the same with some new additions, but it is far from the Haruka we had grown to love. I opted for a regular fave, Chicken Yaki Soba, and it was nothing like it used to be - a bland but spicy sauce had been thrown into the pan, along with some pre-cooked chicken and peppers. It wasn't pleasant and I couldn't finish it. So disappointing as it used to be my favourite local, I will not be visiting again. It's a shame the management/staff had to change, it used to be amazing!

Owners have changed. My Unagi don was all salad, smallest amount of unagi and was not tasty or authentic at all. Really saddened as the last restaurant was one of my favourite sushi spots

We used to come Haruka before and understand it has recently changed ownership. The whole experience now was terrible. Small food portions, everything overdone or not cooked properly. Probably the worst meal we've ever had. Nothing was authentic Asian. The food quality was extremely poor. Avoid at all costs.

The sushi was not what I ordered and had battered chicken in it although what I ordered was salmon and avocado, the fish did not taste very nice

Amazing food, service and menu. The prices were very good and the service very friendly. And pet friendly, I came with my partner and my dog. 🐕

Everything was made fresh when ordered but didn’t take long, The place has a nice vibe, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

Used to come here regularly and was a neighbourhood gem, but now seems to be under new management and the food quality is a significant step down. Favourites like tonkotsu have been removed from the menu, sushi and fish quality is much poorer, and overall the cuisine seems a bit confused - garnishes of parsley and we were offered baklava with the bill. Shame as they used to have a great sushi chef. Would no longer recommend

My first visit to this restaurant- and very definitely the last! Two of us stopped by for dinner. One of us had finished their meal before the other meal arrived - and that was incomplete. I had to ask for the miso soup that was supposed to have been part of my dish. Frankly, the food was dreadful. The fried tofu was mostly batter, the Donbal was dry and tasteless.

We came back to Haruka because we’ve been before and food was good. The business seemed to have change hands after the recent re-opening. Definitely won’t be returning and would highly recommend the new management to look into what Japanese cuisine is. Would not recommend it to anyone. We ordered four dishes and drinks. Will try go through them one by one objectively. Green tea: Bland. Not sure if they were being stingy or didn’t have a clue what tea should taste like. Prawn tempura: used to be battered but now they are coated with panko. It could be a ‘prawn katsu’ at best, but no chance a tempura. They were served without any sauce which was unseen before. Had to ask for the sauce and it was some random sweet and sour dip. Taste was a bit meh. Korean fried chicken: not at all the Korean fried chicken one would imagine. Not battered or coated with gochujang. Instead it was dried and drizzled by seemingly sriracha. Kimchi fried rice: didn’t eat it so can’t comment on the taste but you can tell the chef was in a rush leaving grains of rice and bits on the rim of the bowl. Salmon Don: the most disappointing one. Even a simple google search will show pictures of what it is - slices of salmon sashimi served on a bed of sushi rice. However, they served a seemingly salmon teriyaki don to me. I thought they somehow mixed up the order so I sent it back and asked for what I originally ordered. Shockingly they just replaced the cooked salmon with raw salmon on top of the same egg fried rice from the wrong order. They just patch fixed it and didn’t bother to make me the correct one. Didn’t eat this either. Never seen such a thing with raw fish served on hot egg fried rice. The so called ‘salmon don’ was the last item served and we were left speechless. At this point I was so disappointed by the whole experience and couldn’t see myself enjoying any of this so we paid the bill and left for another diner in the area. Avoid like a plague

I loved this place when it was under the old management. I got a delivery tonight and the quality is really poor. The tempura used to have real, light tempura batter and now they seem breadcrumbed and akin to a frozen dish from Iceland. The gyoza was heavy and tasteless and the yakatori was quite bland too. The sushi and sashimi were good - but the volume has reduced a lot for the price. We won’t be back which is a shame because it’s so hard to find a good Japanese takeaway.

Really disappointing. Not Japanese, or even convincingly Asian cuisine since the chnage of management.

Been here twice now. Lovely food, friendly customer service and very clean. I recommend the bento box, it was very filling and good value for money.

Really disappointing, egg fried rice was way too eggy and tasted of nothing else. I got raw tofu wrapped in undercooked gooey batter. Tempura veg undercooked and no flavour, broth that came with it was bland. Even after adding my own soy sauce, it was inedible.

Delicious authentic food, generous portions. Had very tasty spicy seafood ramen and gyoza.

Food was amazing. I left very happy and will definitely come back.

We have a number of Japanese restaurants nearby. This one is the best in my opinion, both for quality of food and price. Thoroughly recommended. Very small and cosy. Friendly prompt service too.

Lovely small place, very friendly staff. Susi filled very rich, wok pastas are amazing. If I have no time, I order it online, I get my order super fast. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Went here the other night not from the area visiting friend , looking for a chinese on map that had closed down so went in here with no ill intent asking about it and asked if they do Kung pow chicken obviously they didn’t as it’s japanese , so it was no big deal. They suggested korean spicey wings instead… it was no big deal, so I looked at the meal it seemed to have a very similar sauce… so i asked if they could just do that but with chicken instead of wings… the guy was being very awkward about it Eventually he said they could do it but they would have to charge me a pound extra to take the meat off of the Bone his exact words… I asked him why he couldn’t just swap it for another type of chicken, i.e. battered chicken or fresh chicken… so they said okay yes we could probably do that… so i order dumplings, egg fried rice and that was it. And upon payment he asked if I could pay an extra pound as it would be hassle marinating the chicken lol his exact words… I agree to it and paid £18.50 for the dumplings egg fried rice and this korean spicey meal… when I got home and I opened it. I had about 6 to 7 little pieces of pre made out a packet battered chicken in the bottom of the little container, the container was not even halfway filled, and these containers are very small, only a couple of inches deep. Absolute scam job… very uncooperative….just charging extra money for nothing and giving very small portions… avoid ! Just at it trying to fleece the crouch end locals 💲

Went there today for my mum’s birthday and everything was amazing. There was nothing that i could fault. The lady who served was so nice and accommodating even bringing a little desert and sang happy birthday. We were shocked at how low the price was at the end for what we ordered Would 100% recommend and recommend the salt and pepper squid, the best i have ever had Will defo be going back :)

It is a great place to grab sushi and in general Japanese food. The staff was very friendly. Prices and presentation are great. We will definitely coming back.

Great sushi and sashimi in Hornsey. Salmon combo set was delicious, fresh and well presented. The restaurant was inviting with friendly service and the menu has a lot of options including some Korean dishes like dolsot bibimbap. The karaage was super fresh and hot, but didn’t have any salt in the coating so I enjoyed it dipped in sichimi and soy sauce. I felt the sweet chilli sauce overpowered the karaage a bit so I avoided that.

Portion sizes were massive so I recommend ordering one dish first and more later if you’re not full. Price point was very decent for the amount of food that you are getting. The staff was also very friendly and refills your tea for you once you finish your cup or for a top up. They also give complementary miso soup with some of the dishes.

Ate here twice and had delivery once. Great food, great selection. Service is great too.

My partner and I stopped here last night after the cinema and we will definitely come back. Portions are a very good size and everything was delicious, especially the sushi and gyoza. The staff is very nice too. A great place!

My wife and I rate Haruka as having the best food at the best value in Crouch End, where we have lived for over 30 years. We shared a starter crispy pork and chicken in pastry. I had beef curry, which comes with boiled rice, ginger and mixed vegetables. My wife had udon noodles which came with chicken and mixed vegetables. The beef was very tender. For dessert I had monchi ice cream mango flavour, while my wife had green tea ice cream. My wife had two cans of sprite while I had green tea, which is served with top ups included. We had change from £40 so a great price.

Is a very good, nice and clean restaurant. The atention is excellent and personalized. Jasmine tea is excellent to accompany food, it is served in a very nice pot and plenty to share. This place is 100% recommended.

I got a tofu bento box & it was delicious. They changed the tofu teriyaki to curry for me as a favour and the woman who took my take away order was so pleasant. Highly recommend

Really delicious food. Fantastic menu - a wide but thoughtful selection, including lots of vegetarian options. Small but cute and cozy interior with Japanese lanterns and lovely tableware. We tried the avocado and spicy tuna rolls, tofu skin udon soup and chicken yaki soba which was all super fresh and expertly flavoured. Great green tea to boot, with free refills! We will be back. Highly recommend.

We are always looking for a good ramen and after reading reviews we couldn’t wait to taste this one. We were greeted by a pleasant, attentive man and received really good customer service. However, the food just didn’t live up to our expectations we found the ramen very bland and mediocre, We did surprisingly enjoy the octopus balls but the chicken karrage was very dry and inedible.

Lovely family run Japanese restaurant with great food and service. Good portions and everything done to great to high standards! We definitely recommend it and order from here often.

Have walked past this place a few times but finally went in this evening and everything exceeded my expectations. Lovely service, great tasting food and fantastic prices. This is now my go-to restaurant.

Our server was very nice, but the food was not good. The gyoza were nicely pan fried, but the contents were mushy and unrecognizable. The ramen was the saddest I've ever seen. I took one look at my ramen and knew it wasn't going to be good. The tonkotsu broth looked like watered down milk and tasted about the same and the eggs were overcooked. I've had ramen in a lot of places, both in Japan and elsewhere, but this was by far the worst I've ever had. We sent our food back after just a taste.

Ignore these bad reviews below. I have been sitting in and ordering takeaways from Haruka for over a year and the owner is one if the nicest people I have ever met. A true gentleman. The food is amazing and also very reasonably priced. I lived in Japan for a while and have also frequented many Japanese restaurants in London. This is by far the best value for money Japanese restaurant around. Not only is the food amazing, but you are helping support a truly lovely person who runs it. I will cherish this place forever.

They are liars. They promised a refund. They were as rude on the night as they are in their response. Horrible food. Horrible service. We will be taking further action via legal means to ensure that the scam does not happen to others. We were placing an order via Uber. We had 50% off promotion and the amount in the cart was £21. We had to change payment cards. We did this and went back in to process the order. The full amount was taken instead of the 50% promotional amount. We contacted the restaurant immediately. Despite this they stated that they had processed the order (literally seconds later) and could do nothing. Even though it took another 45 minutes to have food delivered. Via the Uber app we could do nothing because the order had not been processed. We phoned back the restaurant. I work in a restaurant and when this sort of thing happens we resolve it for the customer. They continued to say that they could do nothing. We called Uber who said that they could do nothing until the order was complete. The restaurant and Uber both agreed to refund the difference, once the order was delivered. While we were on the phone with Uber, Uber was calling us. The restaurant then called us back, explaining that they had contacted Uber (as they should have done initially). We were promised a refund by both. In real terms this was unacceptable. Not one aspect of it worked and now have been spending additional time trying to rectify this problem created by Uber and made worse by the restaurant. Weeks later, neither Uber, nor the restaurant have honoured their promise to provide a refund. We promised we wouldn't leave a bad review if they kept their word. They didn't. We are. Food not worth the cost with the discount we should have received. Customer service horrible.

Refused to honour UberEats discount and restate that they have no duty to do so. From Uber: "It seems this promo code was set up for orders from a specific restaurant only. Promo codes will only apply in the restaurants they were set up for. As a result, we can’t adjust the amount of this order." So the restaurant is responsible...as we stated. They stated Uber was. Uber stated that they are. Both Uber and Haruka stated that we had to accept the delivery to get the discount. They lied and were as rude as you can see they are when dealing with this. We have call records, and received calls and contacts from Uber in response. It is the principle...of course we will never use them again...but no business should be able to behave in this manner. No customer should be treated in this way. We will not tolerate it. We have consumer and legal rights which will be exercised accordingly. All they had to do was cancel the order which we stated we would resend including the discount which had been removed after we tried to place the order and had to update the card. They refused. This took up hours of our evening, including them calling Uber (they said they couldn't do this but then did)...Uber calling us as a result of their contact. Both agreeing to refund after delivery. They were rude. They are liars. We will have our rights respected.

Very tasty and a great selection of dishes. The fish was really really fresh. And the atmosphere was nice. They also have great service.

I’m so sorry to have to say it but it was really awful. Bland and watery miso soup. Chicken Katsu were inedible - is that really chicken? Also there was so so much of it, it made it worse. Don-buri also poor. None of anywhere near authentic Japanese food I’m afraid. Had to basically throw most of it plus the packaging away. A real disappointment.

Hands down for this magnificent sushi, I had rainbow roll and avocado salmon, it was just amazing, so fresh and completely different than the others in the area, even wasabi was fresh and it looks to be homemade-I could eat here all day long

AMAZING!! Discovered this little gem because I desperately wanted some sushi on my birthday. The location is pretty small but the food is great (BEST SASHIMI EVER!!!) and our waiter (who I’m guessing is also the owner?) was extremely polite and lovely to us. Can’t wait to be back!!!

We had a birthday dinner there for 9 people. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, and they took our special food requests seriously. The food was anso delicious and fresh, it felt like having a personal chef. Flavours are very authentic, even their condiments and cutlery. This will be a go to spot for me and all my friends. We had such a blast.

Blend, tasteless, depressing Japanese food spread. Ordered takeaway on ubereats the salmon bento, ramen and gyudon. Ramen tasted like diluted instant noodles. (Though they got their char siew pork very well done!) The salmon bento was very salty and thankfully the most tasteful of the rest. The gyudon was a blend mix of ingredients with unmarinated beef and a mush of rice. However, for the rotten cherry on top (my take on the saying) I was genuinely surprised by the diluted miso soup that tasted more like miso flavoured water (or not even), then miso, or diluted miso. After bites from the salty bento, or depressing blend gyudon; I would accidentally happen upon the miso to relive the atrocity that was a waste of money on takeout dinner. I can now conclude, was my horrible dinner..

Wonderful service , excellent food . We have eaten in many Japanese restaurants in the north london area and i have to say this is the best. Tempura was straight iut of the kitchen , hot and fresh and so tasty. Extensive menu , spoilt for choice. Highly recommend a visit here

A warm welcome on entry. We arrived at a quiet time of 5pm, our first visit to a Japanese restaurant. My wife and I were given clear descriptions of the food on the menu and asked about allergies in advance. The food was served promptly, hot and well presented. I ordered number 44, katsu chicken curry with rice and salad, my wife had number 83, chicken with noodles and ginger. For desert we buth had green tea ice cream. A wonderful meal at a very reasonable price.

Potentially the best Tonkotsu ramen Iv had outside of Japan. Lovely staff!

Called the restaurant to cancel my order as it had been way over the allocated delivery time, the restaurant and the owner picked up the phone and proceeded to tell me that it was impossible to cancel the order because he had already cooked it and it had been sitting for 20 minutes waiting for a delivery driver He also then told me that he didn’t care if the food was cold or not as we had already paid. He then refused to let me speak and told me that if i wasn’t happy to leave a bad review “I don’t care”

Really good sushi. Ordered off ubereats and everything came fine. Nothing bad to say about the sushi. We had a selection of nigiri and inside out sushi and they were really good

Best Korean food I have ever had. I ordered through Uber eats and my food was very tasty and perfect temperature. Ten out of ten for quality, taste and price. Thank you for the tasty food looking forward to visit the restaurant when it’s open for table service. 🙂
