what a find a suburb restaurant hidden away in Hitchin college run by the students this was my wife and i 3rd visit to the meadows a very high standard of service and the food is fantastic you must try it

A fantastic 4/5 Star meal for very little money. Kitchen and waiting staff work hard. The food is fantastic, everything cooked from scratch, soups wonderful and the cake I had was to die for and I don't even like cake! Brilliant. Will keep coming back

How fortunate were we to have lunch at the Meadows. I cannot fault our experience in any way. The students looked smart and the restaurant was stylish, clean and comfortable. The students were well supervised and most professional. The food was absolutely delicious and better than many so called gourmet restaurants I have been to. Everyone should be most proud of the offering here. Thank you all for making this a fabulous experience. I am looking forward to my next visit, which will not be soon enough (tomorrow evening actually). Yum, yum xx

Just returned from an excellent meal here. There were 37 of us sitting down to a Christmas 3 course meal. Most of us are elderly and several have mobility problems. The staff and students were so helpful and caring. Superb food, with lovely presentation. Thanks so much.

Today was my first visit to Hart Restaurant and I was very impressed by the high standard of the food. There was a choice of 3-4 starters, mains and 2 puddings. Our starter was the Cheddar Cheese Croquettes which were yummy. A tasty vegetable lasagne followed, but the piece de resistance were the profiteroles which were filled with a custard filling, topped by a delicious chocolate mousse and then topped once again by a tasty chocolate sauce. All for £7.95! The students were friendly and eager to serve. The tiniest downside was that the air-con was on quite high which meant we felt rather chilly. Air-con in the middle of winter? Apart from that, we really enjoyed lunch there and would definitely go again. Well done!

The food is mouth-watering and the service is quick and very customer focussed. I was there for a pensioner lunch and only paid £6 for three courses. Because everyone is a student learning how to wait with the view of future employment they are so keen to give great service. Their Tutors must be so proud of their customer service skills I often twitch and knock things over and I did on this occasion a large Latte- no problem it was mopped up quickly by the team. They have different menus on different days but I highly recommend a visit here.

We went for the steak night, they often have a themed evening. Students all very welcoming and helpful. Food was all beautifully presented and very well cooked. My steak was done to perfection. For the money we paid it was brilliant. Easily pay far more in a high street restaurant .

Hart Kitchens is a very good place to eat. We had a lovely Christmas Lunch here. we are planning a return visit soon. the food was excellent the staff were very pleasant and efficient. I would recommend Hart Kitchens.

My second visit - and very impressed still. These students will go far I'm sure. The setting and atmosphere was very Christmassy but not over the top. The food was (almost) perfect - we had to send the turkey back because it was lukewarm but it was done with grace and professionalism and personal apologies from the chef. Everything else was beautifully cooked and presented. The students waiting at tables were attentive but not overbearing. We had a great evening and all tips were pooled to go towards a cocktail making trip to London next summer - a great idea! Thank you all - we'll be back in the New Year - maybe to try some of the themed evenings!

We went to the restaurant for the first time for Christmas Lunch, when we arrived we were amazed at the lovely table settings and the good feeling of Christmas 🎄 The food was really good better than some restaurants we have been to. The students were very efficient. We will be coming back for a weekday lunch in the new year. We would like to suggest that perhaps a dress rail with some coat hangers my gah be a good idea to hang customers coats etc on. HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all and thank you again

Dear John, Thank you so much for the lovely birthday meal I had with my family last Thursday. The students were attentive and alert to our needs at the table, but not overbearing. The food was simply wonderful. The carnivores in the family raved about the lamb and turkey. The fish was beautifully cooked and in a lovely sauce. Please thank cooks and front of house staff – they all contributed to making a special memory. Can we book for a themed evening? Do you do veggie haggis for burns Night? Regards, Pauline

I love the Hart Kitchens. The food is great, the students who host, cook and serve are brilliant; and the teachers who support them are geniuses all. The prices are super-low because that’s not the point. I especially love the Christmas service which is always brilliant.

Big shout to the catering students at the restaurant at North Herts College. Really nice food and good service on the very first day for some of the students, every single one was polite and friendly. A great big thank you for the surprise birthday desert, made my day, looking forward to getting the photo.

3 course lunch for 2 people for less than £20 has to be good value. OK You are served by teenage college students but they are not beginners and the standard of food produced is very good. Service not slow either. All home made even the tartare sauce and the bread rolls. Occasional themed evenings but normally only open Tues, W and Thursdays for lunches.
