Popped in for some fish and chips, The chips where at best Soggy, some where raw, got mixed in, "No Cod" only dried haddock, That will be the first and last time my family go there, Waist of good money,

Staff rude Meals were awful Have ordered the same meal 3 times as the first time was nice Tonight's chowmein was curried noodles it wasn't edible More interested in pointing a finger and shushing you from making your order whilst they answer the phone Won't be going again

Gone right down hill....chip dry as anything curry tastes like warm water.

What was a good chippy, now not nice , just paid for a meal that would of been OK at lunchtime when it was originally made, just had a reheated version

I told them 4 times i want gravy with no mushrooms in it and they still givecme it with mushrooms in it coz they make me feel ill so now i cant eat the chips

The minimum wages around £10.40 per hour But in thes shop the offer is £6.00 per hour I dont understand 1 think its illegal or legally they can pay you anything... government should act immediately

Worst takeaway in penketh chips were more like mush in a bag dripping in fat and the donner meat was like burnt rubber total waste of money and won’t be going again food went in the bin.

Shocking. The girls on the shop are seriously unprofessional the way they talk to customers. Pretty desperate to be honest and the food. Soggy chips. Donna meat that's been cremated.. bring back the old owners and staff.

Received food in a good time. However the food was awful we got sweet and sour prawns. The batter on the prawns was undercooked and soggy, hence it went in the bin as we were unsure the prawns were cooked. The chips had definitely been warmed up from lunch time Overall very expensive for food to be thrown away Will not use again

Excellent fish and chips from here, Staff are friendly and they have an extensive menu ranging from classic chippy through kebabs to chinese meals. Competitively priced and fast service, all round very very good!

Ordered 2 Chinese, meal’s, one with fried rice one with chips. Unfortunately the portion of chip for the meal was a small cone! Not enough to share for two people splitting the meal. Informed we could have upgraded! Previous orders included a bag of chips. Poor value for money.

Love the savoury cakes and the fish. Not too keen on the Chinese dishes, a bit to salty for me.

Visit many times over years and great but recently this place has really gone down hill, Staff are very friendly but there hygiene professionally and personally really need addressing plus serving food with dirty hands rather than using correct equipment, one chaps T shirt looked like he was covered in bird dropings plus they had only just opened wouldnt use again, food reasonable for price

Cold sweaty near inedible food. If they’re busy don’t order, paid £30 and half of it went in the bin.

Awful customer service, wouldn't recommend delivery, the driver is shocking, told me the wrong price when she dropped the order off and forgotten to give me my diet coke, so I actually accused her of taking a tip for herself she said it was 14.50 at first and when she redelivered my diet coke she practically threw at me and said I would never take a tip for myself and shoved the receipt at me, which said 15.50 she also charged me twice for delivery to be honest I was more bothered about my order not being properly dropped off, she definitely overcharged me, it's the principal, rubbish service from the shop as well blamed it on me on why she never gave me my full order.

The delivery woman forgot to give me my bottle of diet coke and when I rang the shop to ask if it could be delivered they blamed me and said I changed the address, I was out working the dogs and they tried delivering it before I was home, the driver also generously gave herself a tip, which was nice of her. With this company you don't get products you pay for.

Came back a few months later to see if anything had improved. Unfortunately it seems to of got worse.The largest of 3 ladies who seems to be the manager has really unpleasant relationship to with customers. There where 6 staff members joking and laughing around the kebab section but only 1 seemed to be serving. Food wise - awful. I remember when this was owned by Harry’s son for many years and it was of very high quality in both service and food. Shame,the name is still above the door but that’s just an indication of what it used to be.

Super friendly staff, great food, fast service! Went late last night with a large order and they were so helpful and chatty.

Food came quickly but wasn't great. Had the odd raw chip, no salt and vinegar and had ordered the meal deal with two sides (gravy and curry), which didn't come 'on the side' but all mixed together with the chips. The sausage and fish were okay.

Savoury cake very dry & salty even though we got curry sauce,not cheap and automatically place your order in a plastic bag which they charge for but don't ask or tell you about the charge.I presume new owners.

After being with a decent fish and chips for almost 3 years, it did not disappoint.

Horrible food,very dry and pale chips. Food prices gone up massively,and standard gone down. Will not be visiting again.

Never mind the extremely good quality food, great service and personal touch, I picked my takeaway up tonight, which I usually get delivered/ left for me on the front step. It was really nice to the meet lady who previously/ last time delivered my order( I don't think she usually is in delivery) and chat to her. Terrible! Cold sweaty food and the staff on the phone just lie to you telling you it’s on its way. The order arrived an hour later than the latest delivery estimate. This place has gone down the pan save your money and the space in your bin when it arrives. Inedible!

Great chippy, we went on good friday & didnt have to wait long expected alot longer for the day. Food was out of this world cannot say enough about how good it was.

Took order just under 2 hours to arrive. After being told after a hour it was on it's way. Upon it's arrival only harf was present. Rang to ask after the missing items, to be told sorry we"ll send it now and phone went dead. Rang back as had not finished my side of conversation. Asked if they wished to take anything off for the standard of service? To be told no if missing part of order wanted no discount. On opening first part of order had to throw it out not fit to eat. Chips still white carton of peas squashed. So sorry Very poor service and quality. Would never recommend this so called Chip Shop.

Fish fresh and batter light with good portions of chips. Make sure you get the fish cooked for you do get the best experience.

i live less than a mile away and the food arrived late and stone cold. Meat portion was terrible. Would not Recommend

Always fresh fish served in a box No more soggy stuff

We had a gorgeous meal last night, salt & pepper beef with fried rice (the best ever) and char sui chop suey and all I can say is it was delivered hot and within 40 mins and was excellent :)

Should have gone elsewhere. Swapped a portion of fried rice (£2.60) for chips and only receive a cone of chips(£1) when asked how come we don't get a full portion of chip told its the portion size of the banquet. Not at all helpful and the food was cold too! Won't be in any rush to buy from here again. Better available locally!

2 donner kebabs warm only just, sweet chili crispy beef was tasty to be fair but looked poor on a plate, brown sauce with the odd onion and pepper end thrown in, As a chef its important regardless being a chippy to take pride in what your serving, waited over an hour for delivery too

Always love the food from here, not quite 5 stars as part of my Chinese food order was missing on my last visit.

Wonderful fish and chips, crispy batter and well cooked chippy chip :) can't fault them! Friendly staff and they even suggested some sauce to go with our Chinese food, which was super tasty.

Expensive and low quality I'm afraid. £5 for fish and peas. Fish was bout 4 mouthfuls felt well ripped of. Way over priced for what you get....

So sorry but ordered fish & chips which were delivered luke warm,was informed they were cooked fresh and dont understand ! Tonight got s&p chicken wings 8 very small wings delivered when I messaged they said its a different supplier there should actually be 6.At £4.80 a portion I find that unacceptable?

Disappointed the chips were dry and the prawn crackers tasted stale, Harry's use to be the best.

Just had a meal from this fish bar very very poor. Firstly no prawn crackers with soup after complaining got them then no bbq ribs, it would help if staff knew what was in there banquet for 2, been in penketh myself for 50 years this place needs closing. Harry come back all is forgiven

Sweet & sour chicken was awful didn’t taste of chicken it was rubbery. With one piece of green pepper the rest was onion and a bright red sauce with a couple of pieces of pineapple. The fried rice was tasteless & dry. Never tasted prawn toast like it just dry and tasteless just awful ! The chips were soggy and tasteless cost a fortune for what we got I am very disappointed. I expected a nice meal as it was my sons birthday it was inedible.

we was a good customer at Harry's. wont be ordering from here again after are couple of orders. definitely gone down hill. curry was runny has anything also there was a hair in are chips. also new owners no longer do mixed grills just poor standard altogether it's not like the old Harry's.

Been visiting here for years, but recently had the fish, which I must say is one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time.

It's not the same since the bin dippers took over greasy chips , bones in the fish wont be going back

Since it's been took over from Nik it's not nice they have changed the burgers you get more batter than fish the chips are either soggy or undercooked and there's more staff than the british army

Ordered fish, chips and peas and a donner kebab. When I got home and opened up the food the fish was non existent. It was half the size of what is normally served from there I can’t believe they thought that it was acceptable to charge full price for it and the donner meat was cold. The chips and peas were fine. Will definitely be going elsewhere from now on.

Been going here for years but have noticed it’s gone down hill rapidly We had a Chinese which to be honest was disgusting ,there was no taste in it at all and the chicken was indescribable Park road for us now

This is a very poor take away that is failing very quickly. We stopped visiting here about a year ago because we were violently sick after eating fish, but chances it again as we were walking the dog and fancied some chips on foot! However, what a mistake. We only got a portion of chips. They were however the worst, greasiest chips that we’ve ever had. Squeeze them together and they dropped fat! They smelt dirty and old. The fat / oil used is clearly very old and needs changing and I wouldn’t be surprised if the chips we had were re fried from the previous day. If a chippy can’t even get chips right, then something is very wrong. After a small handful we just threw them in the bin. Disgusting taste and shocking to look at! We certainly won’t be going back again! Really should avoid this place. Waste of money and a risk to your stomach in my opinion. Yuk! And they never respond to comments on here I notice. I don’t think they’re interested anymore. Read the other reviews and decide for yourself. You’ve been warned!!

Love Harry's. Really nice and fresh food. Doesn't taste gooey and is always pretty crisp. Wish they did tofu in their chinese options but all in all tastes pretty decent. Wouldn't recommend the chinese food, best for a chippy though.

Picked tea up on my way home from work, chips were undercooked, all mashed together? Been going to harrys every now and then for years, wasnt impressed tonight, especially for a fat friday tea? Relying too much on rep and serving undercooked food???

Previously would have always said 5star. Changed hands. Firstly had to wait ages ordered chips fish sausage pie all should be available no fish so had to wait but then they served others even when the fish had been cooked and taken out. Would be better to finish an earlier customers order rather than serve newer customers. Chips were disgusting far too overcooked sausage was in a pile of about 10 sausages didn't taste like normal. Pie Holland's was fine same as normal. Hubby said fish was nice.

Yet again being ♿️ I find that some local shops are usually “Disabled Un-friendly”; this too is one of them !Two doors open into the main road and the floor space is large, yet try to get in with ♿️ or similar and NOPE !You have to attract the staff attention, across a 2 or 3 metre distance.As the time of day and there being no customers at the counter it was relatively easy to get the staffs attention. Making myself heard over the road noise, my order being brought over to me, I paid and left.The F&amp;C could have been much nicer, pale, floppy and the Fish was heavily battered. Why does the British nation appear to accept these pale imitations of the robust, chunky, crispy F&amp;C from earlier eras ?Conclusions: Run of the mill chippy now … Sorry but that the truth !

A few weeks ago I had a very good meal, except for the fact that I asked for NO carrots, but of course it came WITH carrots. Then I had a stir fry meal which was tasty but the veggies were far too big, so the next time I said only deliver if chef can cut the veggies a bit smaller. No apparently he couldn't do that ........ shall we buy him a knife?

I ordered beef fried rice,fish and chips, chicken curry with rice and gravy and the delivery was fast and the food was absolutely delicious. The fish wasn’t dry, the chips weren’t gritty and the gravy wasn’t thick at all! The fish didn’t stink the house out and the staff I was talking to on the phone understood everything I said and were very helpful. I would definitely order again

Beef, chilli & garlic (no onion), deserves a mention. I must have had 1/2 a dozen.

Called in at lunch for small chips and gravy (£2.70!!!) Spuds were obviously not washed properly and the chips where gritty Would not recommend!!!

I ordered a chicken curry and fried rice to be delivered over the phone

just had a doner kebab had to throw it away it wasnt cooked right through wont be visiting again please make sure in future that you cook your meats thoroughly for your future customers your staff shouldnt even serve food if its not cooked

Went here again yesterday after a lengthy break because of a poor experience. Won’t be going back. The gravy was so thick you could cut it, the fish was very very dry and absolutely stunk the house out. It tasted unusual and smelt wrong, the steak and kidney pudding was served underneath the rest of the food so was burst, flat as a pancake and may as well have not been there. Totally stupid! Cheap fish, staff that don’t understand orders properly and a lack of care towards paying customers will surely do this place a lot of harm before long. Seriously, it went down hill a year or so ago but it just keeps on going! Surely this place will drop off the cliff soon because people will realise that if you value your health, hard earned money and time, then this isn’t the place to go to. Juans supper bar on honiton square is much much better. Also the fact that Harry’s staff never reply to any of these reviews, despite nearly all of them being negative recently, just shows that they don’t really care anyone.

I took my fish and chips back on the plate I served it on when I got home. I discreetly called the lady over and explained to her the fish had a funny taste which you could also smell. She took the plate in the back and a man came out saying he’s smelt it and it’s doesn’t smell funny at all, I told him to taste it he grabbed a piece of fish of my plate shoved it in his mouth and told me there nothing wrong with it! I will never ever eat here! The man was rude, made an unnecessary scene and the FISH WAS OFF! After reading other reviews it seems it isn’t just me who thinks so either, no wonder the man got angry!!!

Who wants to be sick? Dont visit Harry's fishbar. Poor quality and dirty shop,the staff is always busy but not with us...costumers.

If you like most of your food in the bottom of the bag, you'll be fine. If like me, you'd prefer to have your meal delivered in an edible state, then Harry's is not for you. Although the food tastes good (on the rare occasions its in tact) we've had to throw so much away as its sloshing around the bottom - vegetarian food covered in meat sauces etc, that it's just not worth it anymore. We were quite loyal & regular customers for ages, but we're now looking for somewhere new to supply our weekend treats.

Not been for quite a while. Nice and bright. Looks really clean. Just got the fish & chips;which were cooked fresh while I waited. When I got the fish home, they were "dry" inside and smelled very strongly (of fish). Still got the smell in the house a day later even with all the febreezing. Will be quite a while before I go again.

I would usually have nothing but good words for this place, however the last few visits I have made I have been served by trainee staff and they have either got disgusting dirty finger nails or they serve the tiniest portions possible. I know they are there to learn but they need to be shown in order to get it right. I'm not a pig, but I have bee given the lamest chip balm of my life tonight and was so disappointed it must have took me all of a minute to eat it. Sort it out.

We decided to have a lunchtime special for our lunch one day we had chicken curry I don’t know what the so called chicken was but it wasn’t edible it was very sloppy I’ve never had anything so nasty

With Harry's being a local chippy, we often went there for Fish and Chips. That was however, up until our most recent visit. The first bombshell came when the Lad serving on the till wasn't even paying attention to the fact that we'd just came into the chippy wanting food, and instead, he decided to chat to some other people, and it took FIVE MINUTES for him to realise we were there. When we ordered and got home, we started eating. The food was average and the poor fish was on offer. We agreed that we would stop being regular customers at Harry's and try 'Lucky House' a little further down the road, which proved to give Harry's a run for its money! We will not return to Harry's for a LONG TIME because of the situation that happened during that visit. I would REALLY recommend you go to 'Lucky House' instead as they are much more trustworthy than Harry's.

all the food is nicely cooked and very hot but not burnt. hygine is a top issue here the place is never dirty, the food is well priced.

Some of the worst fish and chips I've had has been from here. The fish is most certainly not cod or haddock but some cheap awful tasting variety, very very thin small fillets, coated in a very nasty floury batter. The chips are made with poor quality poatatoes, cooked in a foul tasting oil (perhaps it could be that they don't have a seperate fryer for chips and are cooking other stuff in the same oil, not sure on that one). If you fancy an alternative to fish, the sausages are just as bad, no beef here, just cheap nasty pork and they're not even battered. Drive the extra 10 minutes to Papa's, give Harry's Fishbar a wide berth.

Harry's Bar is s must for fish and chips in Great Sankey. Large portions, always fresh and top quality. Delicious!
