There is absolutely no reason for not cooking on demand this applies to all the Harry Ramsdens at all the service stations throughout the UK. You would have much more repeat business Customers do not mind paying for quality ever but object vehemently to over cooked past it's best. I couldn't even ascertain if they where good quality ingredients that where badly executed. Purchased the breakfast in advance via the Days Inn but I would advise them not to push thisAvoid at all costs

rare to I bother to rate anything - this place was so bloody awful! premium prices for 'scag end' chips, tepid mushy peas and a pie that tasted like it had been kept warm since 2017 - when I took it back to the counter to tell staff how awful and inedible it was, I was told i 'had to wait' for a manager - SORRY but no, I do not have to wait, the manager did not appear, as promised here is a brutally honest review. Am so disappointed that this restaurant is so bad. Soggy fish, brick hard dried out pie, poor quality chips - you will never see me again and I hope that enough people will stop using this place until you actually start cooking things fresh. Also £2.40 for a cup of tea, that was served with 'milk is in a jug there' - seriously - total piss take - had I actually looked it was £2.40 I would have said no

Traditional fish and chips freshly cooked. Standard size big enough unless really hungry. Served by Audrey who was very efficient and friendly.

The great British favourite fish, chips and mushy peas freshly cooked and always a great meal. With seating inside and out you can enjoy a good meal. If you want real cutlery sit inside..

We recently attended the BTCC meeting in Knockhill and dropped into the M74 Services at Gretna Green, on our way back to County Durham. We were tired and hungry and made our way over to the Harry Ramsden outlet. As one in our group had to be gluten free, we checked the menu for suitable items and discovered that the breakfast portion of the menu had long since finished - why, I never know, but they did do an "all day brunch" that would have suited perfectly. This was 8:10pm. 3 of us therefore ordered the fish + chips, and the fourth, the "all day" option. We were then informed that the "all day" option was no longer available and when I queried why, I was told because they were closing in half an hour. So how can 3, full-on plates of fish + chips be possible to serve, but not the simpler "all day" brunch type meal? When I complained that that unfairly excluded a member of our party who was (through no fault of her own) gluten free, the cashier just wasn't interested, so we all walked away. Sitting across the food forecourt at another competitor's outlet, til well gone 9:00pm, it was interesting to note that customer's were still ordering meals well after the supposed half hour to closing.

We stopped at Gretna on the way to London. Why I don’t know because we never use service stations except the services on the M6 Toll Road. Two of us chose a full breakfast while the other chose a “bap”. All three meals were dreadful. We did not expect much but at least we thought it should be edible. They also sell something they refer to as Coffee but the only connection between their coffee and the real stuff is that they are both brown coloured. This place lives up to the standard we all expect of U.K. motorway service facilities; awful.

Dried up fish, not sure if cod or not and chewy chips. Plenty of seating space and other eateries within the services.

Full English breakfast on a winter’s morning for less than £12 really hit the mark. Probably a good place to go if you are visiting the local outlets.

Not at all like a 'proper' HR meal. Very little fish under the batter, OK chips and tea and nice curry sauce, but overall not worth the calories!

Served by very helpful, friendly, happy staff. The fish, chips and mushy peas were delicious and freshly cooked to order. The restaurant was busy at the time we arrived but this did not phase the staff out at all. Would definitely recommend. Well done to Harry Ramsden’ Staff.

Quick and friendly service. A limited but tasty range of takeaway and eat in food. Real cod and real chips are a real treat on a long journey.

To be fair, the food was quite good but the price was too high for what you get. Typical services with hit n miss service.

Been on the road for a few hours after leaving Blackpool earlier. Quite a long time since we had a "Harry Ramsdens" and it looked fairly appealing when we went into the services.

Sorry the standard of the food was very poor we had driven since 06.00 am arriving at the welcome Break at 08.30 I was starving looking for a hot well cooked breakfast the items had been batch cooked and stacked ready for the girl to serve the breakfast items were all cold and undercooked my wife left hers and I had to get her toast and had to pay extra for the coffee was disgraceful I would have complained but no one was around to complain to except the food service assistant as the rest of the staff were away on breaks?? The fried egg was cooked by the food service assistant so it was the only hot item we got

If your call is diverted to a man with a thick, foreign accent and he invites you another hotel, near the station, do not go under any circumstances.

Popped in for breakfast. 1 vegetarian and 1 Scottish. Plenty choices, great portions, tasty maple syrup pancakes and great service. Maybe a bit pricey at almost £20 but the food was good.

Went for Sunday lunch, it was ok. Plates for the carvery dangerously hot, A HAZARD. Meals were ok. Desserts were nice with a teaspoon of custard. The ice cream was sorbet which if we'd known we wouldn't have bothered with. Would probably go back if in area.

Excellent service with you ordering everything from your table which is very convenient. Good choice of food although children’s menu could be better and there were no pizzas which dissapointed our youngest grandchild. We all enjoyed what we ordered and look forward to calling again soon.

This was our first visit to the Anchor and we will definitely be back. The food was tasty and well cooked. The tempura prawns were crisp and sweet and the haggis bon bons were also in a crisp shell. The Highland Game pie was superb with lots of fresh vegetables. The pasta dish was also good. Service throughout was friendly. Next time we would prefer to be in the room with the open fire as the room we were in lacked a little atmosphere. All in all a successful evening.
