Harry Haw's in Argyll & Bute

Sadly it was not what I had hoped for, the meals seemed to be microwave meals and not presented well 😕 It is now closed....

Brilliant friendly good food reasonable price

This could be a great eatery. Location, decor, self advertising are all good. But the food is essentially fast food flung together. The grumpy young servers disdain for customers is barely veiled and their attitude is disinterested. Unfortunately this translates to the food. Curry made with frozen veg, homemade pizza dry at edges with not enough topping, lack of fresh vegetables, limp salad with no dressing, cheap ingredients, overuse of carbohydrates. Change these staff, inject happiness then maybe this place can move forward. So disappointing. If you like your food fried or battered, you're onto a winner. If you prefer to eat fresh and healthy, avoid.

Good food and very well presented

Was expecting to try some tasty local seafood, got three sea platter for 17.5£, all fried and soaked in oil... Don't understand why. Not a great experience

We visited Isle of Bute and tried to find nice place to eat. Make sure you book in advance as is hard to get free space. Available option is takeaway if you fancy try food and you are hungry. Great food - shame not big choice of beer - crafts or local. Clean and tidy. Small and cozy place to seat. Don’t expect big restaurant. Very close to centre. Easy to leave car on car park.

Good food general fair. Service was a bit hit and miss I had to remind the server for our drinks order. But overall good food and good atmosphere etc.

Proper nice nuggets peas and chips, scranned them all. The waiter also asked if i wanted some “wee chicken chookey bites for the kEds” but i kindly declined.

DECEIVING MENU PRICES. For 1 breaded fish, small amount of chips was £12.95 and the server as what do you want a moosey pease or garden peas? Upon paying it becomes £14.95. Ordered a lentel soup for a small mug £4.50 with half baguette for £1.50. Breaded fish was good taste but NOT SATISFIED with servings.

Lovely little restaurant, just a few minutes walk from the pier. Booking is probably advisable as it got quite busy when we were there and limited tables available. Great selection on the menu, along with lots of specials on the board too. Would go back to Harry Haw's next time we visit Rothesay.

Not sure how to describe this wee place but I guess they are aiming for a younger set and us OAP's. Not impressed with the Cullen Ski kit, too creamy and a bit bland. Large chicken nachos was huge but very tasty but served at same time e as soup. Odd. Reasonably priced but service a bit slow.

Had our 25th Wedding Anniversay here for our meal it was beautiful the portions were so big they gave us a bottle of Cava as a gift from them so friendly staff was lovely. 28th March 2023. BEV &CHAD CHADWICK

Great dinner at Harry Haws. A cosy venue with friendly staff with a view of the castle if you're lucky. Was exactly what we needed after a long day travelling.

Top Notch! We were on Bute for 2 full days, and ordered from here twice! By far the best on the island. Slightly difficult to navigate their website. Amazing burgers, chips and the mac n cheese is to die for. Must visit if you're in Rothesay. Generous serving sizes.

Not good service and accused us of lying and treated us badly with our complaint and I was being as nice as I could be even tho I was upset . Never ordering from them again!!

We ordered for delivery from the restaurant today and the previous time they got the order wrong and sent us out more food but this time they got the order wrong because we asked for no olives on the nachos and it says that on the receipt but they accused us of lying about it when we called and said the food had olives in it so we will not be ordering from them again.

Great service and food. One of the best chicken burgers I’ve ever had. The coating was so crunchy and the chicken tender. Also has a small chili nachos as a starter which was a massive portion. A pickle would have been a great addition to the burger too, though it was amazing without one. Highly recommend.

Ate at Harry Haws last night and tonight on visit to Rothesay when most restaurants closed. Staff really lovely and very attentive. Food excellent and great value. Will visit again on return. Many thanks to all the staff.

Whatever I have eaten here, has always been great! The fish and chips, the steak pie, the seafood special, the lasagne, the burger, the chicken strips, I've tried them all and more, in the timed I have visited and they were all excellent. Eat in or takeaway this has to be the consistently best place in Rothesay. Service is friendly and the toilets are lovely and clean. Highly Recommended.

Centrally located in Rothesay near the castle. Friendly team, reasonable price and strong varied menu including specials board. Recommended.

The food and service were first class. Excellent choice of options on the menu and when food came ot was first class. Large protions of great food at a great price, not much more you can adjust for.

Stayed in Bute over the weekend and ordered a takeaway to be delivered to our holiday house - great service for a group of 11 with plenty of food - absolutely ideal!

Steak pie.. im not a fan of the balloon sized puff pastry on top of the dish but thats a personal thing.. the filling though, yum yum. Well cooked chunks of steak and a Nice thick gravy that coats the meat very nicely. Good food, good staff and well priced

Extremely kind and helpful staff helped four elderly ladies to wait for a table in the main restaurant. We were able to sit in a kind of ante room with an amazing view of Rothesay Castle and order our various lunches. The food came quite quickly which we were grateful for, as we had to get back to the Waverley before it sailed back to Glasgow. I had a HUGE baked potato which was a great gluten free meal. My friends also enjoyed fish and chips and various other delicious dishes. The price was very reasonable.

Lovely meal and quick, friendly service. Fantastic pizza and delicious burgers. Coffee was absolutely devine too. Advise to book ahead if you want to dine in.

Love love love this place. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and food is amazing. We hadn't booked a table and they were really busy, but they managed to give us a table for a limited time as it was pre-booked. I would highly recommend a visit. 10/10

Had a fantastic meal here, staff very warm welcoming and friendly. Gluten free dairy free and vegan options and staff helpful in sorting this. Recommend booking a table if you are able as we had to wait a while as they were very busy. Well worth the wait! Really enjoyed our meal, freshly prepared. Lovely locally made dairy free “Sheese” for my burger! Generous portions so rather full after that meal. Enjoyed the classic music, even some Tom Jones to make a welshie feel at home 😉

If your going to the island of Bute then Harry Haw's is a must. The staff were very helpful and always had a smile on there face and the food was 1st class. We stayed on Bute 3 nights and had dinner there twice. Great value big servings and friendly staff.

Top notch takeaway, fish supper for the win, friendly staff as well. Was good in 2019, still good in 2021. Plus if you eat in, Rothesay Castle for a lovely view out of the window ☺

Brilliant food and staff were fantastic

The Mac and cheese was phenomenal 😍 and the fish tacos were really good too. The batter was light and crispy. Scampi was ok only.

Visited on a Bank Holiday Monday. Many places closed, but this was open and fairly busy too. Despite not having a reservation, we managed to get a small window seat, which was fine - overlooking the castle. A good menu selection was offered including a number of specials and we both ordered from the latter. Nice freshly cooked food and well presented. Reasonably priced too.

Delicious food, great quick service and fair price

Lovely place for a meal. Ordered a baked potato with chilli and cheese topping. Came with little pot of sour cream, and the baked potato was huge. The meal was delicious and reasonably priced. The man who took my order was very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.

Came from England to visit an old friend in Scotland and stopped in the Galatea Bar Rothesay. Wanted food so the barman suggested trying Harry Haw’s. Called them and they couldn’t help enough. Apparently didn’t deliver until 5 and it was 1pm but the lady walked and delivered the food to the pub personally. Lovely food and brought all the sauces and salt pepper and vinegar. Very good service. Thank you 😊

Very hard to get a table which is testament to the fact this is clearly the best place to eat in Rothesay. Experience rather spoilt by attitude of staff. Call me old fashioned but I get annoyed when no one says goodbye and thank you when you leave. Small point but left a sour taste

Often use there delivery service and it's always brilliant. It's pricer than other options in Rothesay but the quality merits the price. First visit sitting in was great. The staff are lovely and the food did not disappoint. Love the dirty fries.

Probably one of the best restaurant on the Isle of Bute, try the fish and chips very different from the norm. Great value, quality and very tasty. Friendly atmosphere and attentive staff.

Think they need to change the cooking oil more regularly. The chips and onion rings showed signs of being cooked in over used oil.

A fantastic wee find! They accommodated our large family group easily, and had great options for the kids. The food was delicious with generous portions. Great value for money. Our server, Natalie, was very helpful and friendly!

A rare wee find, amazing home made food of the top quality and extremely reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. I would recommend booking in the busy season as I imagine it would be very popular. Definitely worth a visit.
