Harrow Inn Free House in Newark and Sherwood

Outstanding pub, with a great atmosphere, Haven't been in for years the pub used to be a bit of a dive but not so now. Wow! What a turn around. We called in to see some live music. Landlords Kerry and Paul have turned the place around. Fantastic. Clean new upholstery, spotless facilities, clean tasting beers. We had a cracking night.

Good to see live music. Blue moon beer doesn't come with a slice of orange.

Always made to feel welcome when we visit. Lovely friendly atmosphere, great weekend entertainment and quiz night is great fun too.

Brilliant place to eat Sunday dinner and a fine selection of wines, beers and spirits. All good I recommend. 👍

I've never been before, but I was following my old band "Back 2 the Future" and had reason to attend. Great venue, reasonably-priced ale and a friendly atmosphere make this pub an easy choice for a Saturday night. 👍

Called in for Sunday dinner, very nice meal and comfortable, bar staff and owner great.

Love this place. Great company, nice beer, good garden with swings to keep the kids happy, and dog friendly, too. Best days to go are when they have a live band on. Not heard a bad turn yet 😀

My dad sadly passed away in June, prior to nursing home care he loved a pint & meal in The Harrow Inn. I would like to thank the landlord Paul for kindly opening on a day the pub would have been closed, to allow my dad’s wake to be held there. Paul is a lovely guy, so helpful, nothing was too much trouble, he even allowed me to use my own caterers for the buffet. The Harrow Inn is a lovely little country pub, you will always receive a warm welcome, I highly recommend you visit. I am forever grateful for Paul’s help during a very difficult time. Thank you 🙏🏻

Great little country pub. Brilliant hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Nice outside area with some bits for the kids to play on, when the weather allows! Regular live music at weekends as well.

Great pub to go to, landlord is great fun always have a laugh, good atmosphere when you visit.

The staff were kind of rude,got the orders wrong as he was taking more than one order at the same time.

Had a fab Saturday night with family, live entertainment which was great. Liking the Harrow, land lord is friendly and a nice guy. Give it a go, especially a Saturday.

Had a reservation for five on a Saturday, showed up, no body was there, place was closed

Used to be an amazing pub back in the day great food decently priced drinks, I remember as a kid running around there kids themed park while the adults sat in the garden, now though its a let down and wouldn't catch me in there.

Management and staff working hard under the circumstances trying to put a bit of normality back in to our lives. Excellent that they are trying to promote live music too. We'll done The Harrow.

A lovely family orientated pub, run by a smashing couple. They have free live music, most friday and/or Saturday nights and there's a lovely armosphere. Check it out!

Simple, welcoming, honest pub. Aims to be family friendly. All day food from a restricted menu is good value English pub grub fare cooked from the freezer. No awards for it, but perfectly adequate and satisfying. A couple of local ales on tap were cool and in good condition.

Shame. I read reviews and was really excited about coming here. The meals took over an hour... when the place was not busy. A few locals at the bar. Our food eventually came out. Chips were dirty brown like the fat had not been changed. Was very disappointed . Hope you get a new cook and some more staff.

I thought that the signs of welcome to a family run pub was a good sign but this experience was sadly short of the expectations this brought. I wanted to eat and to be fair the liver, onions mash and gravy were good but the pint of Doombar to accompany was cloudy and sour. I asked for a replacement and this was done but the new pint was no better. The barman, who was my only point of contact, determinedly did no check back on the meal otherwise he could have tried again with the pint but by the time I had finished my food I left leaving the seasoned lager drinkers and him to themselves. To summarise your pipes need cleaning or you are not turning over the Doombar quickly enough for it not to go off. A waste of my £4 and a result of me never returning for a meal again. Your service left the same sour taste as your beer. You obviously have no real pride in your pub or what it serves.

A top Pub run by a top couple. Try it, you won't be disappointed

Friendly, clean and not your usual pub in and out. Stay a while and just enjoy. Sit inside or out (dependent on the weather of course). Children can play in the park, which is fenced of and safe for the children. Of course you still need to keep an eye on your own child. Good prices and we will be back more in the warmer days, after a pleasant wall through Ollerton Pit Woods.

Since being taken over the harrow has taken off. Friendly bar staff.. I would like to say it has changed but since going as a child for dinner. The only thing that has it's the better atmosphere.

The harrow used to be good, now it's not. Go elsewhere if you can

Not sure how much longer this place will remain open. It looks, and smells, a bit unloved and one of the locals suggested that the current tenants were on their way out. Perhaps new tenants will get in and make the changes needed. The internal decor is tired and out of date and despite having hand pumps available there was no real ale on draft. Didn't try the food but those in the party who did try the chip butties ate them all so perhaps there is still kitchen staff with pride in their work even if the bar staff seemed hard of hearing or unable to get multi drink orders right.

A bit of a dive with an unwelcoming atmosphere. Landlady (only member of staff present) had to leave bar unattended to cook our food. Despite advertising a food service, she seemed rather put out at having to cook and couldn't offer us any real choice of dishes. The burgers we ordered were both inedible as meat in burgers smelled rancid. We beat a hasty retreat.

The 1 star is being kind... Pushy landlady, hovering over us while we were still eating to take plates away, barking orders at the young members of staff and if that's their idea of a Sunday Carvery I dread to think what the food is like off the main menu. I'm local but defo won't be visiting again!

Brill pub/rest landlord and staff are very helpful. Worth a visit , even better when "mandymac" is gigging on some saturdays during the year..

we would highly recommend this pub for food, the mixed grill is to die for, me and the wife went here on our honeymoon and it is one of 2 eating establishments we will be returning to when we return on holiday with our 2 daughters, reasonably priced and good sized food portions
