Great food and great prices. I love the steak and ale pie. They removed it from the menu a while ago but happy to see it back. Unfortunately they have now added mushrooms which I don't like. If they read this review, please bring back the old recipe. Also the fruit crumble is a bargain at £1 with ice cream or custard!

We visited for late breakfast we ordered bacon rolls, the bacon was nice and generous, but unfortunately the roll was mouldy. They had no more rolls so they could not exchange nor did they have anything else similar as an alternative.

Choose Harper's this afternoon for Fish & Chips, very disappointed, on previous visits the quality of the food has been excellent - until today, seems that due to the low turn over the food was kept under hot lights for a considerable time, chips were mushy and inedible , cod was dry and tasteless and the mushy peas were a congealed lump. Definitely one to miss.

Went with my husband, to lakeside shopping, and decided to go for lunch, in the food court, we deliberated and congetated and eventually decided on harpers, there is a lot of choice, at the food court, depending on what you fancy, harpers counter ,looked fresh, and enticing, so I settled on cod and chips, and my husband had a steak pie, and veg, with gravy, both were hot, tasty and delicious, only downfall is plastic cutlery, but we both really enjoyed ithe food

Only wanting a swift informal lunchtime meal we went up to level 3 in Thurrock Lakeside and visited "Harper's British Classics". Like most eateries on this level we queued at the servery and ordered. The food was freshly cooked. It is served on disposable plates with disposable cutlery. The eating area is communial to all the eateries and we wandered off, found a table and proceeded to eat the lunch we had just bought. The food was excellent. The eating area was clean. There was a staff member cleaning tables quite promptly after people had vacated their tables. There's a lively buzz to the place as it was quite busy.Did I enjoy my lunch? Yes I did.Would I eat there again? Probably, as it was one of the eateries with a healthy choice of foods to select from. Was it expensive? Certainly not.

Been here on several occasions and each time have turned me away due to the fact they’re closing early 7PM despite online hours showing 8PM

The Treacle Mine is in cahoots with Euro Car Parks to extract money out of unsuspecting "guests" using the pub's car park. The fraud works like this: on entry to the car park there isa a sign: "Guest Parking. Camera Controlled." This creates the impression that if you are a guest, you're fine. In the car park itself are a number of signs with small lettering two or more feet above head height explaining that you have to enter your registration number in a console in the bar - many people won't notice these signs or link them to the entrance sign. The entrance door to the bar has a small sign repeating this mandate. Nowhere is any warning that if you fail to do so you will be subject to a fine. Euro Car Parks is one of the most loathed parking operators in the country. We believe that M&B, owners of The Treacle Mine, get a cut out of every parking ticket issued. So I'm on a mission to let everybody know what a devious little conspiracy is happening here. Grubby!
