Harpers in Dudley

I go to Harpers every time I’m at Merry Hill. I have always had great, fresh cooked food there but what really makes it nice are the staff, who, no matter how busy it is, always make you feel like you are the only customer in existence! Today, Donna served Mum and I and we had a lovely chat with her as she prepared our order. Things like this make all the difference.

Donna was fantastic. We ordered 2 lamb dinners which was beautiful. And even got us 2 fresh Yorkshire puddings to go with our dinner. And even went the extra mile and asked us if we wanted some mint sauce to go with our dinner which was the icing on the cake. Thank you Donna. Your customer service was amazing. Will be back soon. Thanks again

My partner myself and my grandson were waiting to be served. We asked one of the staff if they had fish fingers and she said she would put some on. An older lady pushed in front of us and proceeded to order and be served. When she had finished two other customers walked to the counter and we were again ignored and they were served despite us saying that we were first and had been waiting a while. At this point we just walked away

Super British home cooked food. Steak and kidney pie and cheese and potato pie to die for. We both enjoyed our lunch very much.

Was served today by Donna, lovely member of staff who got my order exactly right and loaded the food on my plate all served with a smile; couldn't ask for a better service. Brilliant food as always 👍

Very friendly staff member which really adds to this food establishment was Courtney. Quick, hot and hearty food. Courtney who served us was very friendly and patient as we took some time making our minds up. Have visited many times and shall be back many more times to come.

Unlike the establishment next door (fish n chips place) who ignored me & served the person that arrived after me, Courtney treated me like every customer should be treated! She helped me with a dish I wanted changing & was really happy to serve me & give me info about the food. What a lovely person! I tend to gravitate towards places that give good old fashioned customer service & this why I love HARPERS. It lives true to its name - British Classics - for the delicious fresh food & its helpful, friendly customer service . Thank you Courtney & MERRY CHRISTMAS! PS the cheese & onion pie was very tasty & my mother enjoyed the gravy!

Not too bad for a warming meal after a hard day's work. I had the cheese potato pie. This was lovely.

Always enjoy our lunch at Harper’s. Nice simple British food. Good quality and very reasonably priced. The staff are awesome - they always remember us when we visit (live in Northern Ireland). We were served by Courtney today - as expected very pleasant and helpful. A must visit

Breakfast was awful, Cold Eggs, Bacon full of Fat and the WORST tasting coffee ever. Only plus was the staff are nice and friendly. Go around the corner to Wetherspoons for a much better breakfast

Fresh, homemade, delicious. 3 words what truly describes this place. I genuinely couldn’t be happier and to top it off the 3 meals for me my mom and sister only came to £29 roughly including drinks. Not a complaint to speak about

Had to wait few mins for fresh food - no problem. Food was noce - place was keen. Sonia was lovely. Shame about the girl with the long plaits constantly on her phone!

I went to your Restaurant yesterday and afterwards got food poisoning. I didn't expect this to happen I won't eat there again.

Went merry hill to complete some errands, and this place does an incredible British dinner. All of us had pies with vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. So much meat in the pies and the veg cooked brilliantly. Great Sunday lunch out and very reasonably priced....

British classics at Harpers, pies,yorkshire puddings,stews, toad in the hole, vegetables, hot puddings and custard. Good value and quality. Located as part of main eatery at Merryhill shopping centre (Eat central).Would recommend if shopping in centre.

Decent all around takeaway breakfast. Multiple time visitor. Tad pricey, service with a smile on the odd occasion but when you are hungry a builders got to munch.

I’ve been here a few times now as it’s one of the few places where you can get some vegetables with your meal. The cheese and potato pie is always tasty as are the vegetables. My favourite place in Eat Central.

Stopped for breakfast while out and about Toast was burned bacon and sausage cold. Will not be using again due to this

We went for breakfast and it was swimming in grease , the cheapest bacon and Sausage you could get and the eggs and mushrooms swimming in grease !The worse breakfast we have had in a long time will not return !A greasy spoon can do loads better than this

The pies from there are lovely, been quite a few times since opening and never had a bad meal yet, keep up the good work

enjoy eating here as it is traditional food that makes a nice change from KFC or Mackies. nice choice of veggies but they could be cooked better (sometimes over cooked sometimes undercooked) and cottage pies could do with less mash and more mince. only niggle is portion sizes could be better regulated and the yorkshire puds could quite easely be cooked to order (frozen yorkshires only take 5 mins). also nice to have a pud for a £1 (and can get after main meal just by showing recipt. if you dont know if you fancy a pud, but could offer more than crumble)

We arrive at 10.50 for breakfast service which stopped at 11.00. The food had obviously been sat under the heat lamps for too long. We ordered a small breakfast of 6 items- bacon, egg, baked beans, mushrooms and fried bread. The only other option was sausage which we didn’t want. The fried bread was hard and inedible as was the egg and bacon. We also ordered 2 bacon end egg rolls. The member of staff made them up from the dried up food under the lamps. She did ask the kitchen for fresh eggs as the one remaining was very hard but the fresh eggs were still awful; the whites were thick and gelatinous. At this point we really should have said no thanks and walked away and I’m still not sure why we didn’t except that we were short of time. The coffees from the machine were also awful. All this served on disposable plates with plastic cutlery. Never again - a very bad decision on our part to stay.

Good traditional 'hearty fare'..pies, stews,large yorkshire puddings with selection of vegetables. Pudding a £1 extra if ordering with main meal. Pleasant,attentive staff and tasty filling food. Would recommend.

Honestly me and the girlfriend love Harpers and 9 times out of 10 it's where we eat when we go to eat Central. It's a safe haven between all the fast food options. Now I'm not saying Pie and Mash is a healthy meal but the fact I can get some veg from somewhere is a bonus. The food is delicious too from the pies, to the stew and the toad in a hole, it's all really tasty and consistent.

After a hard day shopping, we were both ready for a good meal and we weren’t left disappointed by Harper’s. With plenty of options on the menu, I opted for chicken & ham pie and my wife opted for cottage pie. All meals come with 4 veg and a choice of roast or mash potatoes. We both opted for mash was was really creamy. Both meals really hit the spot and would recommend to anyone visiting Merry Hill who is looking for a hearty meal. Real British classic meals and at a reasonable price as well.

Friendly and efficient staff, speedy service and good food. But what's with the plastic cutlery ?? I'm afraid that is big let down for me. 👎

I'm not a fan of food courts, as they always seem to be fun of really unhealthy food offerings. Harpers is very good as the choice of veg is generally good. It's also reasonably priced and they smile at you when you're being served.

Called in while shopping normally eat at M&S but fancied a change. Decided to have the cheese pie after seeing a nice section on pies on display. What we got was a plate of grey congealed mess, It was just mashed potatoes, I assume the cheese came in when it passed the cheese in the fridge, it came with cold baked beans and cold chips, served on paper plates with plastic knife and folk, I was charged £15.00 for two including a cup of what passed for tea. I will be sticking to M&S in future better food cheaper on real plates.

By far the best place to get some food from, both within the food court at merryhill and within the centre. Great selection and really good value for money.
