Is it a delivery if delivery man won't bring it to your door for no good reason, he insisted I came out to his car, honestly I have never seen that before when I queried the fact he got loud and rude.

One of the best chip shops in Southampton. Have had many a great meal from this place. It's worth the drive if you live far away and worth the walk if your close by. The chips are well portioned and always cooked to yum. Their batter is very nice, so thin you can see through it like a window to the tasty treat that lies with in, yet its so crunchy you need a chain saw to cut through, and I mean that as a huge compliment as other batters I've tried from other places are soggy or just soaked in oil from the fryer. Where as the fry masters at Harefield have nailed a tasty batter which crunch as it should be. The staff are very friendly, and once you've been a few times it's like visiting friends, but ones who cooked you a banging bag of chips and what ever choice of to go with them you choose, which theres lots of. If you haven't tried this chippy you don't know what your missing, there'll be something if not everything there you'd want and love. They also do gluten free so there's no missing out for anyone. And I've ordered the gluten free, tastes lush, cooked to order and they don't cross contaminate.

Food was decent but service leaves a lot to be desired.

Food excellent as usually excellent and piping hot be it collect or Uber Eats. However today Uber Eats have let you down . Usually Uber delivery takes 10 minute but today took over 30mins resulting in lukewarm food because courier spent 15-20mins going to another order from Asda in West End before delivering our hot food. Please forward our complaint to your Uber Eats Rep

Just outside this shop and had the most tasty fish and chips meal. We are not local to Southampton and found this place by accident. We have dietary restrictions and surprisingly there were several gluten free options. Piping hot and a plentiful serving. Very fast and friendly service. We'll certainly be back

Was fed up with the fish and chips in west end so I thought I’d give this a try. The fish and chips were amazing and the pea fritter was good. Only slight criticism was that the fish size wasn’t very big for the money. Will definitely use this again though !

Tasty fish and chips, massive portions. We recently found out about this chippy, only to find many friends and family who regularly go here!! Husband and I share one so as not to waste food. A bit of a drive for us, but worth it. We live in the US, but mum lives in Bitterne Park so we’re back often. Will definitely be back.

Well what can I say .... I have been looking for a gluten free chippy for ages as the amazing one I was using closed a while back. I'm glad I've found it because now everyone can have fish and chips again the kids will be well chuffed. I ordered gf haddock for my OH which was huge , 4 cod bites for myself and a battered sausage, I also ordered a large portion of chips between us but I'm sure it would feed a family of 5 ( kids not here lots of leftovers) Can't fault any of the food at all. Well worth the money for great food

Me and my boys have been in for some food this evening, lovely service, lovely food, decent price, we didn't even finish the food before I had to leave a review, highly recommended, I will be back, wish we had a decent one in Eastleigh just like this, Keep up the great service and great food guys!

Completely forgot to leave a review here. Went here for the first time a few months back. I only tried the chips and they are the best I've ever had from any chip shop. I'll be sure to try more from the menu when I'm in the area.

Harefield Fish & Chips is an excellent take away. Vast menu including the usual fish varieties, kebabs, burgers, pies, chicken and even deep fried mars bars! to name a few items from the menu. Prompt and efficient service. Nothing more to say really.

Most expensive chip shop I have ever been in over £4 for a bag of chips and they looked like they was warmed up from the previous day will not be returning ever.

My cod was very dry and the batter was awful. The chips were warm by the time I got home so didn't eat any. Never been like this before but it was busy.

We've been coming to this fish bar for about 6 years. We do try other fish bars, even our local one in Midanbury, which has to be just the worst. We always come back to Claudia and her team at Harefield. Why? Value for money, Quality and Choice. Service with smile from people who want to know their customers. A great atmosphere as everyone is always happy here and the staff enjoy a good laugh. Thanks Claudia 😉 Paul

Never been a big chip shop fan! But this place has converted me! Food fantastic, value for money, good size portions. shop run like no other chip shop I’ve seen. Well done!

The chips was very dry, has no salt and had taste of butter and the burger also had no salt, the plain sausage had no taste too, just a little bit of Ketup and that was all.

Great place for fish and chips and more too. The team there work their socks off to fulfil the orders. Not sure about the price but it seems reasonable. Nice fish and chips BTW.

Warning....save your money! absolutely terrible fish n chips. My friend paid for rock salt fish n chips for us both. Fish batter was very very greasy, and cooked in disgusting oil. The chips were obviously left over from the lunch time service, soggy and under cooked. How on earth did these guys win an award.

Saw the review in the daily echo and thought we'd give it a try. First impression, spotlessly clean and very varied menu. Did not disappoint! We had the OAP specials which were delicious. Love the attention to detail... lemon wedge on the fish!

Good quality food, rang our order through and had to repeat it a few times but got there in the end. Amazing kebabs, chips were good, curry sauce very good. Food ready a bit later than suggested but overall worth the wait!

The OAP cod and chips was excellent value and the batter on the cod superb. Scampi, fish cakes and sausage were all enjoyed. Pea fritter could have done with more salt and the batter was slightly overdone. Battered Mars and snicker bars were loved and hated in equal measure but hey you should try everything once. Highly recommend this chip shop. Very clean, lovely welcoming staff but beware the huge portions of chips which are now in my fridge with the grandchildren ensuring me they will snack on them tomorrow.

Great food, best chips for miles and boy have I searched, most local places are full of bitty scraps. A very busy outlet with too many phone orders and delivery companies, it took 10 mins for them to notice they had a customer in the shop waiting to order! Then had to wait 15 mins for my order due to the volume of delivery and phone orders. Not fun.

The food was high quality and relatively fast, waiting time I think was around 10-20 minutes or so, but it was during a really busy period, for the amount of customers in front of us this time is fast. Easily the best fish "n" chip shop I've ever eaten from. If you're near the area and you want something decent to eat I'd recommend that you try this place first!!!

By far the best GF chippy we’ve been too. Always freshly cooked too and super friendly people. Couldn’t ask for better, just wish it was closer to my house!

I will admit that this is my 'local' by proximity but the quality of food is high standard, very clean, friendly staff. The range of food on offer on the menus from traditional chippy, plus kebabs, burgers, gluten free is probably one of the most extensive I have seen. Obviously, Friday and Saturday are busy so if you arrive and order might have to wait but you ring in advance to collect.

I’ve struggled to find a good fish and chips since moving to the area but this did it for me. Chips are perfect and the fish is lovely and not too greasy, the food came quickly and was piping hot when arrived. The only criticisms i had was the chips didn’t have enough salt and the curry sauce could’ve been a bit thicker (but that’s just my opinion) Would definitely recommend best fish and chips i’ve had since being in southampton

Ordered dinner for the family, thought I'd try a new place for fish and chips and super nice. Phoned it through earlier and didn't have to wait long for dinner to be ready. Well organised and tasty 😋

Really fancied a jacket potato I couldn’t be bothered to cook and fancied curry on it so I thought I would go to this place. It was disgusting the chicken curry I had on it tasted like it was out of. The tin potato was hard. The skin wasn’t even crispy wouldn’t order this from here again.

We often travel and obviously try fish and chips elsewhere, then wonder why we botherd. Everytime we are so pleased to get back to our regular tasty and value for money meal at Harefield Fish Bar. Orderd the combo kebab which was very tasty salad very fresh also with oap fish and chips for the old git at home is very good value for money with excellent fish and chips will definitely be coming back 😋

One of the best I've been too in long time

Couldn’t park at BestFry so came by this place for a try - and it’s GREAT! Super clean, friendly staff and anything you could want, from fish to burgers to kebabs or pies, gluten free if you need it. Yes, including pies. Went for haddock, chips and garlic shrooms and it was all delish. Chips were *stand out* and honestly the best we’ve had in years - you’d think there’s not much you can do with a spud and hot oil, but really you would tell the ones from here. Excellent. The breaded garlic mushrooms were done to perfection - not so crispy that they’re scrapy to eat, the perfect give on the bite and just the right hint of garlic. Haddock was a good size, firm and not dry. The batter was good - loved it but a bit flat - you might find more wispy crispy fine folds of batter from Atlanticos or BestFry but this is a being incredibly picky because the meal was stand out. I’d thoroughly recommend the Harefield Fish Bar. Will definitely be back, just as soon as I’ve run off those chips 😝

In our household, there are 3 of us who are gluten-free. We discovered this place by accident & we're very glad we did. There is quite an extensive g-f menu & it's very clearly marked on the board. The prices are quite reasonable. The staff are very friendly & willing to help. If you don't want battered fish, then they are willing to plain grill it upon request. It's a nice, easy place to find & plenty of roadside parking. When ordering (whether by phone or at the counter), you are given a number, which is called out when your food is ready. Highly recommended for anyone who eats gluten-free food.

DELICIOUS!! Chips are perfectly cooked, chunky and that little bit of crisp. My mixed kebab was fantastic- salad super fresh- meat was outstanding. Will be buying here again. Prices seem comparable to other local fish and chips too.

We used Harefield fish bar for the 1st time this evening after being disappointed with fish & chips shops a lot closer to us they did not disappoint good price and very good food thanks we will most definitely be using this place again

My step mum can't have gluten or else she gets very sick. Last night all I could hear was her being sick. Be careful when making your orders because they say its gluten free but they messed up somewhere because she was sick all night. Not coming back here again

Second time using this chippy, first time brilliant. My wife is Coeliac so gluten a no no, ordered gluten free scampi yesterday with gluten free chips, last night my wife was very sick from gluten poisoning so will not be using this chippy again. Very dissapointed, Peter West End.

We drive 25 minutes all the way from Eastleigh for these chips, and so do my parents once they tried the fish and chips here, absolutely outstanding! Insanely crispy chips, only comparable to an award winning fish and chop shop in Westbourne I used to go to. This place should enter for an award!!

National fish & chip day yesterday 27/5 and looked forward to it all week! Ended up with us being later than we wanted but rang our order in at 8.20pm and nipped down, (Uber & deliveroo are ok but I like going in!) my haddock, with a fresh juicy wedge of lemon was superb, crispy batter and the fish was delicious, I shared a small portion of chips with my husband who had a kebab that was packed with meat and salad. The shop is spotlessly clean, never a smell of oil, and the staff are all so lovely. Highly recommend
