Husband and I visited for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. We have been many times and this place never fails to amaze us. Everything is 5 star. Steff and the staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much bother. Grounds are very well kept and beautiful. Although the Manor is beautiful it has a really welcoming feel to it and we return time after time. We have been to many differnt places in our area, however always recommend Hardwick Hall Manor.

I don't like to give bad reviews and it's taken a while before I could write this. Unfortunately we didn't ever get to stay the night. We booked for Christmas Eve night. We were called the day before to check we were coming and to ask if we needed dinner, we confirmed we would not need dinner but would be there. As we were travelling a long way, we arrived slightly later than we had hoped, but still well within the check in time advertised on our reservation. The hotel was empty and had a ring doorbell which gave us an automated message. We also called them, got no response. Luckily we found another hotel to take us, but was very upsetting on Christmas Eve after travelling a long way! Thankfully they did refund us, but we didn't ever get an apology. If they didn't want to take guests that evening, they should have just refused our booking and saved us a lot of stress.

Stayed for a business trip. Reasonable stay, could hear the neighbouring room at talking level. Bit dated decor and could do with small maintenance such as fixing the toilet cistern, it wobbled a fair bit and one of the light switches didn't work. Shower cover fell off while turning shower on, managed to reattach it 😂 Wi-Fi was abit in and out at times, ended up using my mobile hotspot. Overall, decent stay but thought it was abit pricey for the quality of the room. Wouldn't come back on a leisure stay and would probably look elsewhere for a business stay. But had good service from staff 👍🏻

Thought we would try the hard wick for lunch today, wish I hadn’t, we had the roast meal and my partner had the pie. the roast beef was over cooked, it should be pink in the middle and it should hold together, the pie had two bits of meat in it was more like a soup or stew with a bit of puff pastry on top. Seeing how we were the only people in the restaurant I would have expected the service to be a bit quicker, got the impression the waiter did not want to be there. Guess I will not be go back.

After being shown our table, I requested a pint of real ale & was told in a rather curt manner by the manager that they had none. Then followed a ridiculous & rather unfriendly diatribe that ended with the understanding that I could have 2 bottles of premium lager & a pint glass. All this stressed my already Covid - anxious wife, who took a good 24 hours of careful nurturing to calm down. Needless to say we will not be returning with such an officious person in charge.

Who id it? Why? Finally what weapon was used? We all mucked in at our table although some of us were total strangers. More mixing from actors. Then we had sweet, Again Delicious. Coffee was served and finally the plot was disclosed. We were provided suitable paper to write our findings, These finding included our questions as to who done it. I feel that response lacks any customer care given I had to cancel within a couple of hours. We have used here for several family events, and trusted that we were a values client. This restaurant is a little know gem! The best way I could describe it is it would be like going into the Dorchester or Landmark Hotel in London in the 1990's when the important extra special things was the decor, the well mannered and attentive staff, where no request is too small! Add to this ambience really nice food well cooked and well presented and very tasty! The final accolade I would give it is the deserts a choice of around 16 and that's without the ice creams and the chef's special hot pudding. The night I dined there it was Sticky Toffee Pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream! It was to die for! I have not experienced an equal any where in the North East. Need I say more?

It had been almost 2 years since I had visited this restaurant, and my recent visit last Wednesday 21st Aug was a very refreshing surprise. It was my birthday so I was in the appropriate mood for a good evening and I certainly was not let down in any way. I was greeted at the restaurant, and was asked to go through to the bar which although rather dark was brightened by the cheerful attitude of the barman who quickly brought across the Menu cards and served us with our drinks, which were followed by a really nice taster of two deep fried brioches with a tasty spicy sauce. We were then escorted to our seats in the very bright and pleasant dining room which was well attended by young polite staff, who very alert to our needs! I have to say the food was delicious and very well presented and each dish was hot and the selection of sweets was plentiful and well described by the waitress. Everything looked home-made and was tasting nice, but I'd have loved to have my scones re-warmed a bit, and they were served with whipped cream (I much prefer proper clotted cream). The night overall was very enjoyable. The food was very good, particularly given that it is mass catering, but you wouldn't guess from the quality. Plenty of friendly staff kept the food coming. The murder mystery was well done and struck the right balance with humour. The only minor issues were that as a party of 4 on a table of 8 we were serparated until 2 of the other guests rather grugdingly moved - the hotel should reserve group placings - and the bar struggled at busy periods.

Four of us ate here on the set menu. Our meal was lovely but considering they knew that one of us had a dairy allergy (we’d mentioned it to them twice) there was no mention of it on their computer and the only thing my sister could have was stirfry. Mind you it did look nice. I had flat grilled/stuffed mushroom and the other three had melon and strawberries with ginger crumbs and sauce. The two blokes had fish and vegetables, as I said my sister had stirfry and I had chicken stuffed with banana and spinach and vegetable rice, served with a mild curry sauce. My sister would have had this is they could have done an alternative sauce for her that didn't contain cream (funnily enough other restaurants can do this) Then there was lemon and blackcurrant sorbet followed by dessert – I had cheesecake, the chaps had almond cake, and cheesecake and my sister had gluten free chocolate cake with fresh fruit salad.

10 of us went for lunch and although the food was average we enjoyed it. The service was ok to say least. The person in charge was bossing the young staff around and drink prices were above average. Not a place I'd go back to I'm afraid.

The afternoon tea was a delight with lovely finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam plus a lovely assortment of cakes. All washed down with tea. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and is very highly recommended. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable.

We went for a Groupon deal for four people, on a Tuesday evening, what great value this meal was. Four good courses and plenty to choose from on the set menu, even for our friend who is a fussy eater and normally goes for steak or fish and chips. The food and surrounding were first class.

This carvery is absolutely gorgeous and we have been many times over the last 6 months. Grab a groupon deal if you can, however even paying normal prices is affordable.

The weekday carvery lunch is deservedly popular. The pork and beef roasts were tasty and there was also the option of mince and dumplings or a chicken dish. Vegetables were hot and fresh. I am afraid we didn't have room for the pudding which looked home made and wholesome! Maybe next time? Good value at the set price but extraordinary cheap with a Groupon voucher.

We had dinner here one night of our hotel stay and enjoyed it. Our server must have been new and he didn’t get everything quite right but that was quickly taken care of by the other staff. The food was good, however.

Over the years I have been to Hardwicke Hall several times as I live very nearby. I bought a carvery voucher from Groupon and rang to book for a Sunday lunchtime. On arrival there was no one in reception other than an elderly couple looking for assistance. 2 young waiters appeared in the middle of serving and advised them so we caught them to ask where the carvery was.A man in shorts and t-shirt interrupted ( he had just walked past us with a young couple who seemed to be getting a 'wedding tour') "we don't do carvery just monday-Friday" I explained I had a voucher from Groupon at this point he looked irritated and said 'we don't do groupon' I explained I had booked and tried to get the voucher up but he walked off. The young waiters the young couple and the elderly couple were all stood around. We then decided to stay for lunch as we had anticipated food! This cost £36 with a pint and a half of lager as opposed to £9 for the carvery for 2.

We have been here quite a few times over the last year and my Dad's 60th Birthday was another great excuse for us to go back again. I was looking forward to a Beer sitting outside in the sunshine but the weather wasn't playing ball. It didn't matter really because the bar inside is very cosy for a nice pre meal drink. My Dad insisted on paying for the drinks but he got a shock at the bar as he thought the cocktails at £7 each were a bit excessive for what they were, but that's a reasonable price for a cocktail these days. A pint was £4.20 which is not bad for hotel prices. I continue to love the fact that they give you a little canape in the bar whilst you are having a drink, it's a really nice touch. The 4 course meal (plus coffee) is excellent value and lots of other restaurants would class this as a five course meal. The starter of Bacon and Eggs Benedict was delicious and my Dad said his fish cakes were really tasty. The twice baked soufle was the only starter that dissapointed, it looked burnt, tasted burnt and this spoilt the dish. After the starters you also get a choice of either Soup or Sorbet. We all went for the Leak and Potatoe soup and it was really tasty. The mains were delicious, my Pork Loin and stuffing was delightful and my Dad said his fish was baked to perfection. My wife's fillet steak hit the spot and everyone cleared their plates. At this point you are probably feeling pretty stuffed but you can always make room for the desserts. The Bannoffe pie was brilliant and my wife loved her hot sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream. My Dad's Chocolate fudge cake looked a bit dry and afterwards he said it could have done with a pit pouring cream over it. I told him he should have asked for some because nothing is a problem for the excellent staff here. If they have got it, then you can have it, nothing is a bother. My Mam's cheeseboard was huge and she struggled to finish it. The coffee and mints really finished off an excellent meal. We were left feeling like this was an amazing meal and provides excellent value for money. Once again all of the staff were helpful and polite. This is quickly becoming my favourite hotel to either stay over or to have a meal. I will be back soon because this hotel continues to exceed my expectations. The management should be really proud of all of their staff for their great service and chefs for the delicious food.

Do not order the classic lemonade. It's a complete waste of money! £3.25 for cold water, ice and a couple of squirts of lemonade syrup! Stick with a can of Fanta!

Dining room is incredibly dark - I know that's 'ambience' but when you're considering using your phone torch to see the menu, that's not great. Starter was nice (black truffle ravioli - wasn't ravioli, but did taste good) but the main meal was very disappointing. The risotto part was nice, but the cod was utterly tasteless and just a chuck of slightly cold fish. The 'sea greens' looked like enormous leaves pulled from the garden and were inedible. Lots of staff milling around not doing anything for most of the time we were there (it only got a bit busier around 8.30pm) and were incapable of splitting a bill correctly despite being told at least half a dozen times how we wanted it split. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

Tastes like home and home tastes so good. Impromptu bite to eat, Cheese burger and chips for me, tuna mayo sandwich for Denise, 2 flat whites. Clean plates, empty cups, fabulous service, friendly staff, great value for money. It’s proper food at a fair price, everything to like here.
