Hardramowt in Cardiff

Hadramowt is an incredible place to enjoy authentic Yemeni cuisine and culture. The food is absolutely delicious, and the lamb Mandi and chicken Mandi are my personal favorites ,both cooked to perfection. They also offer a wide variety of other dishes worth exploring. The traditional seating area adds a special touch to the dining experience, making it even more unique. A big shoutout to the amazing staff, especially Metab,Yazen and Mansour, for their exceptional service and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Extremely rude staff except the female one. More so if you are non arabic speaking, you will be served last! Any arab speaking that orders way after you would get served first. Toilet is metre away from food counter and is filthy. Avoid.

Very busy restaurant with really tasty food. I enjoyed the lamb mandi delicious. Lime mint juice was myst try after the mandi. Service was good and quick. Need to Improve area was Washing area and toilet area was very dirty not done a proper cleaning.

I was ordering on the phone and I got mocked for the way I talk and he was very rude and asked to call back in 1 hour.

While it is maybe liked by others; it is not the type of food I prefer. I ordered a grilled chicken meal, and it was not grilled in any way as it was fried and not tasty. It is a cash only restaurant so you need to carry cash when you decide to eat there.

Been coming here for a long time and my family and friends food is excellent ,nice big portions and a fair price 👌 food is always super fresh can get a little busy I don't eat in always have a takeaway 😋 was so happy to see they are now opening a new restaurant aswel I can't wait to take my family best lamb and rice in cardiff 😊

Really like this place, often come here for takeaway or with friends/family. The food is generally good, sizeable portion for the size and typically very tasty. There's not a huge variety on the menu but you're likely going there for the Mandi. The chicken Mandi is my least favourite, it's a bit dry, I prefer the lamb Mandi but sometimes the portion of meat seems to fluctuate (the chicken portions are much more consistent). I've given the food 4 stars due to the inconsistency. Either way you'll be full and satisfied most of the time. Customer service is essentially non-existent unless you really try to get their attention, and they DON'T take card but have no sign to say or will wont always inform customers of this before ordering. They'll direct you to the closest cash machine which costs to use. Recommended, but remember to take cash with you, about £13-£15ish if you plan to get drinks with your meal.

Lamb and rice is average, not as good as other mandi places. Soup is horrible and salty. Biggest problem is owner lies and says he doesn't take card. He made me and other customers go out in the rain to take out cash. But, when any Arabic speaking person came in he let them pay by card. Will report to HMRC.

Mouth watering smell and flavour. I just loved their lamb mandi.. Went there 3 times and ordered the same mandi again and again because it so good...They serve lamb soup first which add more flavour to the food. Prices are affordable. Only downside i saw was they only accept cash. So if you are going then do have some cash with you.

Nicest food I've had in a long time.

The food was truly exceptional. Each dish was well-prepared, delicious, and a delightful culinary experience. The flavors were rich, and the presentation was impeccable. But Unfortunately, my dining experience was marred by disappointing customer service. The lady who served our table seemed disinterested and unresponsive to our requests. Whenever we asked for something, her default response was a curt "wait." Even if it was a simple request for a drink refill, her reply remained the same - a repeated and somewhat dismissive "wait." A small Suggestion: It would have been more courteous and professional if the server had acknowledged our requests with a polite response such as "Certainly, just a moment please" or "I'll be right with you." This small change in communication style could significantly improve the overall dining experience and make guests feel more valued and attended to.

I ordered the Mandi lamb, and it was delicious. The chicken Mandi was good, but the lamb was truly outstanding. The service was excellent—very refined and the staff were extremely helpful. Please note that they only accept cash payments. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was good. Was there with the family and experienced rude behaviour from one of the staff who made us all feel uncomfortable; the other staff were apologetic for his behaviour but that doesn’t change how we felt. Wouldn’t recommend for a dine in but good for a takeaway.

Horrible experience, today we planned to have dinner at this place with our friends, waitress was rude before ordering and demanding he will bring same portion of lamb mandi to children. Table service was unexplainable not serving soup or tea which is included with food. Not recommended to anyone

My worst experience in a restaurant today, went to this place after recommending by friends….. Not so great as recommended, waitress was rude, food ordered at first but served at last with out any tea or soup. It was really intentional… Not recommended

Utterly dissatisfied with the lack of proper service , especially by waiters who were rude, impatient and careless… They were unwilling to take orders and wanted us to choose what they said… Nonsensical statements, and poor communication…. They even refused to serve tea at the end… and asked us to leave… Simply Pathetic !!!!!! Also they only accept cash…. I would NOT recommend anyone to go there .

Horrible customer service. Uncivilised behaviour. Went as family, including old age mother, along with a group. Waited for some time to get seated. We tried to sit when the table got emptied, but the waiter staightaway denied us to be seated together as family, even though seats were empty. His behaviour was too rude and arrogant, and he kept the reserved marks on the rest of all the tables just to deny us space. We were forced to sit scattered. We couldn't see any new customers occupying the reserved tables until we left the place, which was more than an hour. Later, a different waiter served us and he was polite. The food was average but of good quantity. The counter staff apologised for the bad behaviour, but still, the other staff continued with his primitive arrogant behaviour. He was shouting, yelling, angry, rude, and he was trying to stop other waiters who were behaving properly. Have travelled in many countries and had tried diverse food varities, but never came across such a bad experience. Never recommend to dine-in with family.

We went for dinner as per recommendation, however the customer service was so poor, disappointed, it’s a shame they don’t know how to behave properly with customer, not open to people from different culture and religion. And also we were forced to choose our menu, the waiter was impatient and rude while taking our order and treated us bad upto the end.

This place was HORRIBLE.We came back from a cricket tournament,so we were very hungry.As soon as we came in we sat down and started to order but as soon as we started they said we have to buy 1 for everyone INCLUDING LITTLE KIDS how are they going to eat a big plate of rice and chicken and they didn't even say it politely they said it RUDELY.Then we got the food it was not the best it was very dry and plain.BUT HERE IS THE WORST SITUATION,one of us wanted to buy a coffee as soon as the checkout person said yes the person near him said NO,LIKE WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THIS and then another one of us wanted coffee but AGAIN THEY SAID NO. Guys I would highly recommend that you do not come to this place you would much rather go somewhere else as they is no point of coming here.I will say though,only ONE person was doing normal service he was good the other guy WAS BAD. Total disaster, extremely poor customer service by the waiters, speaking rudely to customers , from the start one of the waiter was rude, refusing to take order, forcing us to buy 1 whole mandi for every person in our group.. Then another waiter was sent….who forgot to serve soup inspite of reminding….When asked for tea at the end, refused straightaway and asking us to leave. Hygiene of toilets extremely poor too.. I would not recommend anyone to come and have their meal here… especially families as they do not know to take orders neither they know to serve what is been asked for… Extremely bad experience……..totally racist…

If there is no Star to be awarded, I would have selected that option. Very rude behaviour to customers and quality of food is extremely low. We ordered chicken mandi and after waiting for more than 45 minutes they said it is not available and provided us with Lamb mandi. Never recommend this to anyone in future.

Today we went to have food and they made us to wait for 1 hour and after that saying to us that , the food we were ordered was not available and they served us the food they we were not ordered, and we were forced to eat that because we don’t have any other option , because we were too hungry and don’t have the energy to go to another one and also they didn’t apologised to us also asked for the full price of the food . Shame on the hospitality and customer service.

In my opinion, this is an average restaurant with food tasting alright. This is a good place to hangout with friends but I wouldn't recommend family. I tried Mandi both Lamb and Chicken. Lamb was dope. They also offer the soup before Mandi. FYI, 1 Mandi will suffice only one person. Price vs Quantity is commendable.

Left my brand new headphones there for 1 min and apparently its nowhere to be found when waiter cleaned the table. Tried to deny seeing it and suggested it was in the bin.The owners should be careful about thieving staff, shameful as we had just spent £70 eating there wont be going back.

The food is very salty and there is a lot of oil in the rice, and the quality is always different. One day it is delicious and the other day it is very tiring. The food and the meat sometimes have a strong taste. The employees are lost and are never in an order. The ground is dirty and you cannot expect ghee and oil.

Fantastic chicken Mandi, plus soup and sauces. No starters as I went on Tuesday, disappointed not to be able to try them.

Had dinner with some friends in Hadramowt on a wet Thursday evening. The food was wonderful and the service was really good too. They were very helpful about dietary requirements and kept bringing more lamb soup (which was delicious). I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Having said that, I don't know if it would have been suitable if there were vegetarians in our party - not a criticism, just an observation.

It can get busy (you can take away or for smaller tables it's usually not a long wait) but we booked ahead which is definitely recommend as we usually order half lamb on rice with extra dishes. Great authentic menu. The meat just falls off the bone, and flavourful dishes really excite your taste buds with real spices and a lot of aromatic dishes. You got the Crispy fried onions, slow cooked lamb, broth, sultanas all on a massive bed of ride served on a platter. 👌🏼 big hit. Very affordable and excellent prices for large portions. The quality of the food is top for flavour and freshness. The service is good. You just need to be patient. Seating is limited because theres a few of us we usually get put right by the door. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Staff are nice and friendly. It's a very traditional establishment, I'm Indian my wife is Welsh, and family is split, but everyone has enjoyed eating here, not one complaint. We have personally never had an issue or a bad meal. We always leave stuffed and it's worth every penny. You can take away what you dont eat, which is not often forbus. Its 10/10. Know this is a smaller family style kitchen and restaurant knowing this you won't be disappointed.

AVOID! The food was absolutely terrible, causing all of us stomach issues and appearing to be several days old. I wanted a lamb kofta, but they were out of both that and the chicken version, so I had to settle for a chicken shish. They didn’t have enough chicken shish either, so they added lamb shish, which was extremely tough to eat. To top it off, I ordered a lamb mandi and the onions were burnt and bitter, it was so bad to eat I almost walked out of the restaurant. The kids’ meals were supposed to come with fries and a drink, but we were charged separately for the kids’ drinks. This place is appalling, and I would neither recommend it nor visit again. There are plenty of better options on City Road.

The food was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The staff are extremely rude. The menu outside, is different to the menu inside. Overall a very poor experience. Wanted to try here for a while, hugely disappointing.

Unfortunately, the owner of this shop unpolitely neither ethical nor patient, I mean immortal as so he always insulted their customers by his bad words and doesn't care about them. So, he so requires to have some courses on how to deal with the clients respectfully ASAP . 👎

Lamb mandi was honestly amazing. Reminded me of food back home in the Middle East. Highly recommend if you want tasty genuine Middle Eastern cuisine.

The food is a solid 8/10. Very good mandi, rice was amazing and flavourful. The lamb meat is extremely tender and falls right off the bone. Downside, chicken was a tad overcooked and dry. The lamb stock and the curry on the side is way too overloaded with salt, so much that it's not edible. The biggest let down of this place is the atmosphere. Very overcrowded on a Sunday night and it gets very hot inside. The tables are too close together and they've got very loud and annoying music playing to top it off. Also, the place is severely understaffed. Just two waiters running around frantically (doing a great job) keeping up with so many customers inside, the management needs to do better in terms of hiring to improve service. Kudos to the waiters for keeping up and still being nice to us 👏

Excellent arabic cuisine, especially the Lamb Mandhi.... It was fabulous can't express the authentic taste.... It tasted exactly asian and would recommend everyone to try Hadramowt in cardiff. Worth the money and worth a vist you will never regret to choose the dine in.

We had chicken Mandi and Lamb Mandi. It is our usual here. Well it has been the best. Service will is alright considering the crowd in the place. But service could be improved. And nice atmosphere as well just needs to be a bit cleaner. And CASH ONLY!!

The Mandi was ok. The prices were very cheap. No parking available. There is a paid parking lot a few minutes walk from the restaurant. We had to wait quite a bit to get the food.

The food we got so so succulent we got this £29 platter with sides for 3 -people but could have easily fed 5. Proper stuffed. Very busy restaurant so service is always behind but you can’t have everything. The lamb oven and chicken was to die for. On that note there an Arab floor area where you enjoy full sit down mean and clear your pates and pray after

The food was great. I am questioning the hygiene in this restaurant from the toilets to the shop floor. Also the service wasn't too good as no cutlery, napkins and food presentation was awful.

Worst service. We ordered 3 chicken mandi and two lamb mandi and it was the worst. Meat was ok, but the rice was not flavourful. Worst service from staff, we have to find our own table. The restaurant is cash only, but it was not mentioned anywhere at the building. I wouldn’t honestly recommend this place to anyone

Called, booked a table, then asked to change the time of the table and explained we are coming from Bristol, to which they agreed, drove all the way go Cardiff to then be met with an unapologetic man who did not take responsibility or seem to care at all about the experience of a new customer as it was packed, lady there was nice and tried to help but she was not in charge - extremely disappointed as I had heard great things about the food there - we ended up going to Saray who were packed out and they STILL managed to get us a table despite us walking in, lessons to be learned in hospitality for Hardramowt

Food is good but very poor customer service especially from the manager. He doesn't know how to treat customers and how to show respect to their customers. Experienced in two visits. very rude behaviour from Manager!!!! Not recommended!!!

If you are a fan of different types of manthi. You will enjoy here especially the mutton manthy. So yummy 😋

This was my second visit to hardamowt. This was unfortunately nowhere near the first visit. The rice didn't have much of a taste. The presentation of food was sloppy. The food was not hot enough. The plates were dirty and the soup was a bowl of grease with lumps of meat fat floating around. To top it off there was a massive hair on the plate. Very disappointed with the quality will not be returning in future. Moving forward, food needs to be presented better and cook with love, like previously.
