Very strange place. Hard to find but there is one table with a harbour view upstairs. Ok fish and chips. Incredibly nice and helpfull staff.

Pretty good! Prices were on the higher side and no credit/debit/contactless facility. Service was poorly organised but friendly.

Setting and restaurant lovely but unfortunately the food really quite greasy... Couldn't manage the underside of the fish due to the grease. Sorry

The fish was perfect with a lot of butter and thin crust x. The restaurant was not busy like all fish and chips from beyond and the staff is nice as well.

Not sure what the low scores are for bit the chips were light, fluffy and crisp. I liked tje light batter on the cod. Also dog friendly! Great staff. Bought water for the dog. Would highly recommend.

We had fish, chips, peas with bread and butter and pot of tea. £11.25 per person. We were shown to a table immediately and the tea arrive with bread and butter pretty quickly. We waited for about 10 minutes but I can say that it was worth the wait. The best fish and chips I’ve had for years. The batter was very light and the chips perfect. Good things come to those who wait.

Don't quite know what all the poor ratings were about. The staff were pretty quick to get us seated and taking our orders. Its a little overpriced for the portion size when compared to a normal chip shop takeaway but the batter was light and not greasy and the chips were nicely cooked.

During the Goth Weekend the Whitby streets were extremely busy and yet upstairs the Harbour View Restaurant was a haven of peace and quiet because the rooms are a good size. The staff were rushed off their feet but were friendly and got everything on the order right. The food was delicious and filling, and the range of sauces on the table was good.

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We sat for a good 15 mins waiting for service in an empty restaurant, they were too busy cleaning and wiping down tables and chatting to bother. Finally served, took ages for coffee and cake to arrive, which in the end was nothing special. Will not be back.

Appalling customer service, and the same goes for the food. Chips tasted like cardboard, fish certainly wasn't 'cod', coffee was more like a bitter espresso in a shot sized 'mug'. Staff closed the cafe about 3pm, half an hour after we got there DESPITE it says they close at 10pm. The staff turned other customers away. It turned out they were waiting for us to leave so they could 'go to the pub'. They were lingering near our table saying things like they can't wait for the last people to finish their food so they can leave early. Overall it was gross. Never visiting there again, and next time I'm in Whitby I will actually physically tell passers by not to go here. Sort yourself out, you absolute sorry excuse for a business.

Atrocious. We got there, we were told we'd be waiting half an hour because they were busy, okay, that's fine. Ended up waiting an hour. During that time we asked for a jug of water twice and some more ketchup and mayo, none of which turned up and we had to take it off other tables. Eventually one of our party went up and asked when we'd get our food and we were promised that we were 'the next ones'. Then we saw a party that had come in after us receive their food before us. At this time another gentleman in the cafe became angry as they had also been lying to him about his wait time. I went up and asked for a more accurate ETA, and was told that we were in fact third in line (about fifteen minutes after they told us we were next). Apparently whoever told us we were next 'shouldn't have'. A mother who had been waiting for a similarly ridiculous length of time came over and tried to explain that her child was diabetic and needed to eat to a mostly unsympathetic waitress. Still didn't see that family get their food. The nicest person I spoke to was a girl that didn't actually even work there, who was very apologetic and had only been drafted in to help her mum. Their excuse was 'It's Whitby Goth Weekend, we're really busy!' which would be fine except a) it's a famous biannual event and they had plenty of time to get staff in and b) after an hour of waiting and no food we went to Russell's and got our food within about fifteen minutes, so it's clearly doable. Can't comment on the food because it probably never even got made. But any restaurant where the staff outright lie to their patrons is pretty bad imo. Won't be giving them another chance I don't think.

When I read some of the poor reviews it was off-putting but my wife and I decided to try it anyway and make up our own mind. We were very happy with 'everything'.....the service was nice and polite, the menu was extensive, and our order was on the counter within 5 minutes of payment. My beef curry was superb and there was lots of very tasty meat. My wife had a prawn and mushroom dish and absolutely loved it. We will definitely be regulars!!

Only found out about this place due to working at the cash n carry that supplies the establishment, they always order top quality ingredients and it shows, the triple cheese fries are to die for (I had 3 portions tonight 🤣) my partner ordered the nacho cheese burger and was too big for her to finish but she loved it, 100% my go to place now, my 7 kids love the food too and they are picky eaters, great food, great staff, fantastic service, I Highly recommend...Thanks guys

Order a donner kebab which was how it should be, also ordered some chicken that was cooked fresh on the griddle, it was supposed to have some seasoning on but on getting home it was just plain cooked chicken stripe which was a real letdown especially has the chicken was very dry too. This was our first time so hopefully next time it will be better.
