Only visited for afternoon tea - a treat bought for us by my son and daughter-in-law. Sat outside on a glorious September day making good use of the fantastic views. Beautifully presented full afternoon tea. For my taste more sandwiches and fewer cakes would have been better. Scones eaten correctly with jam first then the clotted cream on top !

Sitting outside on the terrace, great views and ambience…. No table service at all on the outside tables… cheap table and chairs… I had the sea food spaghetti…. Was the worst I’ve ever had… zero flavour apart from the overpowering dill…. Why this was sprinkled on the dish I will never know…. Spaghetti was ridiculously overcooked as were the prawns.. this was served with a sprinkle of Parmesan already over the dish which in Italy this is a big no-no. This is not an Italian food.

The views from our hotel room with balcony were stunning. From the evening sunlight pouring in through the dual aspect windows, to the sunset over the harbour, the views were unbelievable. The location too, is great, with beaches only a short walk down a hill. You are also right in the heart of a rather beautiful residential area. But the rooms are just average. Clearly the hotel is in need of some refurbishment, with furniture in the room well used, scratched/marked - it had all seen better days and was all rather tired. For £330 a night, you just expect better. The bed though, was comfy. Service both at the front desk and during breakfast was excellent. All individual members of the team seemed very happy, and were helpful and polite. The breakfast itself was enjoyable enough, and of reasonable quality. With George Michael's greatest hits playing in the background, it all just felt like a slightly different era. To be fair to the hotel owners, I understand that they had grand plans to rebuild/update all three in the Sandbanks area. Some of the plans looked great, but local residents were not supportive. This is unfortunate, as certainly the two of the three we saw are in need of refurbishment, but if you were a local, and inundated with thousands of tourists every summer, maybe you'd too be against any plans bringing more people to the area. We enjoyed our stay, but for the price, it's a 3.5. I do want to give it a 4... But, we've stayed in much better rooms for £100 per night less.

Yesterday we celebrated our Mum and uncles 80th birthday at Harbour Heights. We received the most excellent service and attention from Soheil who really did cater for our every need. The food was beautiful and the sun even came out so that we could see the amazing views! Thank you so much Soheil and the team at Harbour Heights for naking this 80th birthday such a win and all that we hoped for as a family.

Booked for afternoon tea as a treat. The staff were lovely. Friendly and helpful at all times. Particularly the lady from Milan (apologies we didn't take your name). The lady on reception was equally lovely, facilitating us charging our phone with a loan charger. Food was lovely but it would have been nice to be told what the cakes/sandwiches were when they were brought out to us. We had planned/hoped to stay in summer 2024 but the building maintenance puts us off. Leak on the entrance to the bar area with no signs etc. Went to the ladies, significant leak over the toilet cubicle, again no signs so was dripped on for the second time. Not particularly clean either. Partner went to gents, smelled so awful he didn't venture further in than the first door from reception. Shame that the building let's the staff down.

Heard about this hotel for years but have never visited despite knowing it had great views. Anyway finally got my chance when after I parked up at the usual spot realised it was 1minute walk away so thought I'd head for a pit stop before the walk round the area. Once inside, after being greeted by a friendly receptionist, we were kindly directed to the bar. The decor is ok, nothing too showy or wow, just usual hotel look... But the view! Miserable weather on the day I visited, but that can't ruin this view. Overlooks Poole harbour from the heights. On a summers day, that roof terrace has my name all over it, with a prosecco in hand of course! Didn't have food on this occasion, (a pint of larger and a glass of prosecco roughly £15) but the table sat next to me both had ordered a salmon dish and were very vocal in their love for it!

We went to the Italian restaurant for lunch on Valentines Day. This hotel is part of the group that also includes the Sandbanks and Haven Hotels, but this restaurant was the only one that offered food that we wanted to eat. It was a dull and wet day, so we only had occasional glimpses of the view, which takes in the east side of Brownsea Island and part of Poole harbour. It would be very nice on a summers day, if you were sat outside. Our meal was very nice and the service was attentive without being intrusive or hurried. The hotel car park is free but you have to register your vehicle on arrival. There is a Chinese restaurant called Ocean Palace also in the hotel but it was shut when we visited and there was no sign of any advertising for it.

While the location & view is superb, this is obviously reflected in the prices charged. I felt for what we had the food was good, but not outstanding for the price charged. Over £15 for a salad does seem a tad excessive. Not sure I would return quickly, but ambiance lovely & on a summers day, to sit outside would be a joy. Service was not exceptional, which again I would expect in a place like this.

We've eaten several times before at the Harbour Heights and have always enjoyed the food. On this occasion we were very disappointed by the choice of food on the menu (which changes from time to time and is not available beforehand on-line) and could not find a starter or dessert that either of us liked, the dessert menu in particular was limited, there were only 3 choices (other than the standard ice cream/sorbet/cheese offerings). The service was indifferent and inattentive - the waiter was not knowledgeable about the drinks and then served me with the wrong drink, part of our food order was missed and we had to ask for water top-ups etc.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions but was a little disappointed this time . Service was extremely slow and we were left with empty plates for quite some time. The bill came to over £100 per couple, including wine, which I thought was a little high for the standard of food. The Pianist was way too loud for the size of the restaurant and we could not have a proper conversation during the rendition. With that said the setting is amazing, especially if you have a cocktail on the terrace beforehand.

Harbour Heights scores principally for its stunning view. The food was very good and well presented. All was perfect until a group of 12 people came to the adjacent table and decided to open the windows causing a through draught which was uncomfortable to ourselves and also to the occupants another table. We left without taking coffee because of this. I consider it "has been" to charge extra for bread accompanying a meal. One member of our party came looking forward to eating mussels which were no longer available as the menu had been changed the previous day.

I have been to Harbour Heights on many occasions as I live locally. Unfortunately I didn't have such a great experience this time. We were a party of four and were seated next to a table of approximately 8 people who were enjoying a family occasion which meant that, for all the right reasons, they were having a fun time but it meant it was just a little noisy. I think we could have been seated more appropriately as my friend and I had our elderly mothers with us. We arrived at our table for 7.30pm and were served drinks promptly. Unfortunately, our food order wasn't taken until 8pm. We chose not to have a starter and two of our party chose the chateaubriand. Unfortunately our meals didn't arrive until 8.40pm which meant that we were sat at the table for a total of 1 hour 10 minutes before we had our food. When I questioned the delay I was informed that the chateaubriand option always takes 20 minutes to prepare. However I challenged this timescale as it was in fact 40 minutes that we were waiting for our food from placing order to it arriving at the table. The food was very nicely cooked and presented but I would suggest that a little communication from the kitchen and waitress would have saved the day and we would not have felt disappointed by our experience. I did ask for a reduction in the bill to reflect our experience and, after some discussion, the waitress kindly deducted the cost of our bottle of wine.

A special dinner date with friends on a Saturday night. The view and location of the restaurant is impressive without a doubt. It was too cool to dine outside but on a warmer day, I imagine the location is difficult to beat. We enjoyed the music played by the pianist - it added to the very pleasant ambience. My friend has an intolerance to butter and the staff and chef were able to accommodate this without any fuss. But in truth, we were a little disappointed by the food. We all had different dishes from the a la carte menu, but there was a hint of curry flavouring in all of them. (no desserts eaten). It was not significant enough to complain but enough to pass comment on. We enjoyed our evening and would recommend the location without hesitation. But the food I'm afraid did not live up to our expectation.

Where to start? No where to park. Got in the restaurant at 8pm (on time)and we were not even acknowledged. Had to fight to get attention. Stood waiting for a while. Eventually seated inside and ordered water. Weather had been 30 degrees. Tried to get waitresses attention twice. Water eventually bought mine over half an hour later. Mums I had to remind them about so I ordered the food then and there. Saw a couple leave before eating. Bread roll offered seconds before meal arrived? No fish knives given, no “is everything ok” my mum had at least 7 pieces of shell in her crab, one bit was over half an inch in size. HOW on earth did that get through to service? Wine ordered also took forever to come, After dessert plates were removed there was no “would you like coffee?” Sat there for ages. We got up at just before 10pm to leave and had to find someone to pay the bill. We could have just walked out and on reflection probably should have. Mentioned all the above to the supervisor who took the service charge off. £7 wow?? There wasn’t any service, no attention to customers. The food was poor and I felt extremely disappointed. My mum had a bellyache afterwards and is suffering this morning. I can stand on evening hill for free if it was just the view I wanted. I wanted a nice meal and I didn’t get it?

Delivery of food was perfect. Once finished had to ask for the bill twice and then another 15 minutes to pay. There were only 3 tables occupied by this time. The staff were lovely but they needed a couple more to make the experience perfect. We were not in a rush but was a little annoying. The hotel were hosting a wedding on the evening we had unfortunately booked dinner and it became obvious that the staff and kitchen couldn’t cope with the dinner service. The food was awful and the service was terrible. We got the impression that this was obviously a failure in the management . At least two other tables complained to little effect. The only thing in this restaurants favour is the fantastic view of Poole harbour. This should be a great restaurant (and it use to be) but the current management have given it the ambience of a nursing home. Definitely not suitable for anyone with their own teeth who enjoys good food, who expects competent service and wants supper in a jolly environment. Not a patch on Risk Steins or the Jetty.

Fantastic view - but the service is just absolutely dreadful. Sadly not improved since my last visit a couple of years ago. A wash with staff but no one seems to be bothered to speak to you. If they are busy just a simple acknowledgement would do. Seated quickly but then had to wait 15 minutes before anyone bothered to ask if we wanted a drink! First course took 45 minutes to arrive and then the main (Caesar salad, so not too taxing) took another 45 minutes to arrive. While the view is spectacular and the ambience is of course wonderful, some simple courtesy would go along way. You can't rely on the view alone. It wasn't even that busy when I visited, so there should be no excuse for poor service. Please up your game, train your staff better. First impressions last and whilst the gentleman showed us to our table super speedy, it then went down hill from there on in. Simple training goes a long way. Your customers are your 'bread and butter', so look after them if you want repeat business. Sadly for me, I won't be visiting again for a long while. If you can't improve within 2 years then not sure what the time frame would be. I know I am not the only person who thinks the service is poor. Sort it out please, it's really not rocket science!

Despite being warned about the service prior to visiting I decided to book anyway as the venue is absolutely beautiful, wondeful location with views of Sandbanks, pianist playing, etc. The service was woeful to say the least. We asked to move table which caused 2 staff members to have disagreement in front of us. We waited 15 minutes at least to be seen at our table or offered a drink. We then waited a further 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. One older guy was over compensating, trying to keep everyone happy as it seemed they were short staffed. For such a beautiful, pricey establishment; this is not the service I'd expect and it really does let the place down.

However we all felt that we were rushed through our meal. There was not enough time between courses and for a 7.15 booking, we left at 8.30. Frankly this is too quick and I recommend you train your staff and kitchen staff to slow down. When booking a meal for the evening, it is usually to relax and be able to chat and enjoy the surroundings etc. Not receive course after course as soon as you put your cutlery on the plate. It wasn't as though you were busy either as only a few tables were occupied. Hope this helps

This is the second lunch at this venue, our food was delicious, the service excellent, the view from the terrace is to die for, it certainly won’t be our last.

Was staying at hotel and booked in for dinner. Service was functional from the start, no warmth. Service was slow and when and staff were unengaging, bread nearly fell on my plate from the girl serving. Starters were ok, main course was poor and on bringing to the attention of the manager nothing was done to recover service. Decided not have dessert based on the above! Such a shame as the location is beautiful but wouldn’t return!

I love the terrace for pre drinks. However the restaurant and bar service was very very slow. The food when it arrived was delicious. It is pricey but you are paying for the view ambience and location.

A very nice dinner booked on the spur of the moment. Food was pretty good with an original menu from which to choose. Service was friendly but efficient.

Varied choice on the menu, food was well-prepared with good portion size, and served al fresco with fantastic views over the harbor. Also the option to eat inside (with similar views) if weather is less favorable. Excellent service, we were given all the time to enjoy the food and the views. All in , delicious food reasonably priced. We will certainly keep the address in our diary, and intend to return.

From the moment we arrived it was disappointing. There was no one to inform that we had arrived for dinner. Very understaffed and those who were there were inefficient, slow, evasive and had attitude. Not what you expect for a 4 star hotel and restaurant. There was a breathtaking view of Poole harbour, brown sea island and the Purbecks beyond out on the terrace where we planned to have a drink. ( you can also eat in this area too.) The tables were dirty and uncleared of previous drinks etc and there was no service. At the bar there was a queue 10 deep and the 2 bar men were painfully slow to serve people and quite flustered. When we finally sat down to dinner the service was reluctant and slow. The menu looked good and we were looking forward to eating our choices. A good wine list but expensive. Sadly much of the food that was supposed to be hot arrived Luke warm or cold. One main course had to be sent back as it was cold and inedible. Some food was good especially the freshly grilled whole Bass. Poor choice of dessert. We will not be returning to this restaurant as it seems to be going steadily downhill. Expensive too! Don't waste your money. There are better restaurants in the area. Great for a drink on the terrace to watch the sun go down on a summers evening though!

We had a meal at Harbour Heights for our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we were not overwhelmed with the experience... The service was quite slow - when we first arrived we had a 20-minute wait before anyone came to take our order, even for drinks. The service we received was not particularly friendly or welcoming. The food was nice enough but wasn't of the standard we expected for the price we were charged. And a few smaller points... We asked for water for the table and were just given a glass each - a small jug would have been nice. And there was no bread offered before the meal - not a major issue, but it is something we would expect in a restaurant like this. The table was very small so we didn't really have enough leg room. Overall, a fairly average experience for above-average prices.

The location is stunning. We had a lovely time on the terrace. The service was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. I also liked the decor including the paintings.

I had Sunday Lunch with my daughter and her Husband. It was a disaster. Watery soup starters, stone cold mains, which we sent back. It came back reheated!! Disgusting. No apology from anyone. Rushed service. I have never experienced anything like this at Harbour Heights. What has happened? Will never have Sunday lunch there again.

My wife and I visited Harbour Heights restaurant last Saturday. We had visited previously and had good service so were expecting, and willing to splash out for, a nice evening. It fell short of our expectations on many levels. When we were shown to the table my wife did not have time to take off her coat before being thrust an open menu. She had to just put this on top of the crockery and the waitress did not offer to take her coat. We ordered a few beers and table water. The water was sloshed over the table and cutlery by the waitress and this was not cleared up so we had to clean it with napkins. We saw our drinks prepared and put on the bar. At least ten minutes later they were still sat there, at which point my wife went to retrieve them. Starters were tasty and well prepared but we were not offered bread although other tables did. We grabbed a waiter to get some whilst he was nearby. In the past we'd been offered a choice of different tasty fresh baked rolls - this time the choice was "white or brown". There was only one option for vegetarians on the main menu, (despite the online menu and the menu in the reception of the hotel having several). My wife doesn’t really like celery but a celery risotto was the only option. She said the risotto was well cooked and tasty but to pay £19 for a meal where you have to pick out the main ingredient is galling. My pork was very good and this, and the starters were the highlight of the evening. We had ordered a glass of wine and a diet coke with the main meal. The diet coke got forgotten about. The waitress did spot this at the end of my meal and had one sent over but I had to just gulp it down, since the bill had arrived as well, and the waiter hovered with the machine while I checked it over.

Sadly very disappointing. Set menu as advertised on website not available. Daily menu ok but nothing special and unfortunately the chicken in our very bland Ceasar salads wasn't cooked properly. Very inattentive service, we were left hanging after our main course and had to go and find a member of staff to order desserts and coffees. Not a special 70th celebration as hoped.

Very tasty & well presented food. Great harbour views - daytime or the lights on the water after dark. Helpful staff in general, however after arriving early for our 7.00pm table, we were kept waiting for 25 mins after our booking time before being shown to our table - and after other diners who appeared to arrive after us?! A long wait between finishing starters & (shared) main course arriving and not kept informed of how long it would take (or offered more of the tasty bread rolls whilst we waited!). Restaurant barely half full . . . . Not our usual experience of this otherwise excellent restaurant.

Dining here is lovely, but very overrated. I found the food to be subpar what you should expect with food that lacked seasoning. Apart from that service is great and the location is great. Breakfast here is always nice too.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Guildhall Tavern the one night we spent in Poole. We had the best Oysters of the whole weekend (and we tried quite a few). The staff were lovely, the food was creative, and well prepared. The clientele was nice which contributed to the great atmosphere. It was a nice experience.
