Happy Valley in Wakefield

Went for a special curry.I was surprised at how laclustre it was in terms of meat. No chicken whatsoever (the first special curry I have had anywhere with zero chicken in, and I mean zero), some small pieces of diced pork (no slices) bits of vegetables and a few prawns. Most of the container was sauce, and far from the best curry sauce I have had either.Chips were good.I felt somewhat ripped off and will not return. My meal consisted basically of curry soaked chips on a plate.Noticed other customers (perhaps more regular) being given bags of prawn crackers and calenders. Cash only- the only cash only takeaway I have visited in recent times.

We have just had a fab take away from the reopened Happy Valley Chinese in Horbury, it was fab as usual. They have a brilliant system at the counter with a huge screen across the counter and a box to put the payment in.

My wife collected a telephone order on Saturday the 23rd May 2020 right in the middle of the Covid 19 lockdown. Everything is surreal at the moment with social distancing, shielding and travel restrictions. As residents of Horbury, we were delighted to see the additional precautions the team at Happy Valley had taken to ensure the safety of their customers and staff. There is a full coverage, Perspex screen and a slot to ‘post’ your food and payment, with social distancing required in the shop and outside. A very safe experience and a hearty ‘well done’ to the Happy Valley team. On top of this, the food was outstanding and delicious, perfectly cooked, generous portions and representing the best value for money Chinese food Horbury has to offer. My family would heartily recommend Happy Valley for their food, their care and attention.

One of the worst chinese’ we have ever had!! I don’t know how they can call that chicken. The prawn crackers tasted foisty and the s&p chips were way too salty! Disappointed.

Fresh, tastey chinese food. If they dont have what you want on the menu, just ask and they will try to make it for you. This take away is always busy which is a good sign and we always have enjoyed the food from here. I would certainly recommend it. Take cassh though...they dont accept cards.

Simple food spare ribs are, all the takeaways usually get these right, not this lot, they should fall off the bone, tender meat is near the bone, these were very chewy, we had to cut it from the bone with a sharp knife, it was then difficult to chew, sinewy, stick in your teeth stuff. Crispy duck came with only 6 wraps, every other takeaway gives you 10 wraps, hey these must be the cheapest bit of the dish, 100 for a quid, then they’d stripped the duck from the bones to make out there was a lot.Sweet and sour pork balls were covered in mostly thick batter which was cooked on the outside but soggy in the middle, the batter was too thick, the pork inside was a cube of meat, a perfect cube, not a ball or portion, it tasted like spam.This is not the Happy Valley I grew up with, there is need for change, go back to the old ways and you’ll be ok, don’t try to cut things, cheaper suppliers, etc, people will not be happy and will go elsewhere, oh nearly forgot, cash only, no card, no tap and go contactless, very strange, your decision, I’ve made mine, thanks.

Good food be going here for years but what’s happened to the chips most you can’t eat all hard and scrappy,if you have change suppliers.Get your chips somewhere else please

Been using this takeaway for years. Always a really good meal, the only problem for us is that that there is no delivery service. We would use it even more if this was the case ,so feel they are missing a trick there. Still the best Chinese takeaway for miles.miles......

Generous portions of well prepared delicious food. We had chicken soup full of large pieces of chicken, and the nicest crispy duck I have had in years. The chicken and cashew nuts was lovely too. Never had a bad meal from this place.

Love this place - Ive eaten here many times and its always great - Do not take notice of the bad reviews on here as they don't understand the workings of the trade like i do - You cannot make spare ribs fresh to order as the time it would take to do that would be such a long time you would certainly complain about it as the preperation work involved is a lot more than you think ,same with the spring rolls - They are made onsite - You wont find them that size at a frozen food store im certain about that !

Definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways in the area, Beef with green peppers and black bean is outstanding, quality ingredients and tender beef. Starters are tasty and portions sizes of main meals is definitely enough for 2 when sharing rice and chips

It's our local and regular Chinese Takeaway. We've been coming for many years and come at least once a week. We've never had a bad meal, not mentioning others close by. We always come back and sadly the lady now knows my name :D

Just poor in general. Safe enough to eat but just not good quality at all! What more do you need to know?!?!

Hemos usado este llevar durante años. El último par de años, la calidad de la comida ha empeorado y peor. Esta noche fue la gota que colmó el vaso. 10 libras. 20 rollos para congelados, patatas fritas tortitas de Islandia congeladas y supuestamente sal y pimienta costillas de repuesto que sabían sin duda como si fueran de un corte proveedor precio.

We have used this take away regularly for the last 8 years and up until last few visits has been great, but now tasteless food, the last time it ended up in the bin. Never again

Puede haber niños decoración pero no dejes que esto te desanime, la comida siempre es sabroso cada vez y el personal siempre amable. Lo único que tengo que decir es un aspecto negativo es que no ofrecen la entrega pero es el 100% vale la pena el viaje. Gran lugar!

Este lugar es fantástico, el personal es amable y educada, la comida es deliciosa y son muy flexibles - puede solicitar alternativas en platos sin problemas. La comida siempre es caliente cuando nos recogerá y llegar a su casa es rápido listo.

Quick service, food always hot, gorgeous food would highly recommend to all. Best Chinese in West Yorkshire.

In short the best Chinese takeaway in the area in my view, excellent value, good service. What more could you want give it a try.

Always good food and lots of people must agree as it is always busy. This has been our favourite Chinese take away for years as always so nice. Portions are a good size.
