Happy Valley Chinese Takeaway in County Durham

Ordered house special fried rice, plain chow mein , gravy , prawn crackers on way from work tonight always been great but not this time , there is no taste it's so bland , ive had to reheat it in my wok and add more soy sauce, rice wine. Oyster sauce some other seasonings tk make it taste nice , really disappointed will nit be going again , paid £18 which I think is really steap for what k got , I can cook better chinese than these people, I would recommend people going elsewhere cos this place is crap

Food very nice staff helpful a pity they do not except card payments when I go there I spend between £30.00 and £40.00 I do not always have cash available

used these for a while since the one in Shildon shut down, and the food has always been good, but today had a basic fried rice and gravy and it was disgusting zero taste bland and dry even with extra gravy.. Turned out to be a waste of money, just what you want when you have been awake since 3am...looking forward to what you think is going to be nice to eat...ended up in the bin, and i hate seeing food wasted, I won't be using again

For a local takeaway the food is really superb. Mostly stick to my two favourite dishes but always quick and food delicious

Got my favourite today Special Fried rice, I was disappointed, it didn't have it's usual gorgeous fried egg on and the rice tasted bland and boiled, with very little taste

Very tasty, good size portions even accommodated a special request which couldn't be faulted !! Will deffo be using again.

Rang at 7 to ask for my curry sauce to seperate from my chips to be told that my food had already left but the sauce would be seperate anyway At 7.32 my food arrived. Luke warm had to be reheated in the microwave. Very poor and disappointed once again- wont be going back again

She was rude and did not hear what I had to say. Can’t believe it, never eating there ever!!!

Wow. First tried happy Valley when I moved back to aycliffe 6 year ago and didn't rate it at all. Decided to try it again tonight as my usual just didn't cut it last time. Absolutely amazing. Couldn't even finish it. Got the chicken curry & fried rice. A proper curry spice aswell. The amount of chicken that was in it was unreal. Definitely another serving left to warm up tomorrow. Highly recommend.

We are a regular customer to this place and I can say I was very disappointed I won't be ordering from here again, i only give one star as I haven't got the option if none!!!

Ordered a take away on Friday evening for 3 people. It arrived in a timely manner and food was hot. Everything was very tasty and didn't disappoint, really enjoyed it. Will certainly order again and reasonably priced.

I order from here frequently and normally the same thing which is delicious but tonight I ordered a house special curry with chips. The curry is so watery it has no taste, the chips were barely cooked either. This has put me off ever ordering again such a shame

You would think for the price the food would be amazing but unfortunately it's not and very expensive

Spare ribs very dry. Chicken curry had so much onion and it was crisp it was raw, must have put a whole large onion in. Very little chicken and curry sauce was so hot and very thick. Have they changed cook. Always go here but not ever again.

A cold and tasteless meal, considering we were the only customers and only live two minutes away I can’t understand how the meal was cold

Quite disappointed with the food considering the price i paid . Wont get food from there anymore . Possibly could of not been so stingy and gave us prawn crackers with our food also

I ordered from work last night, for 10-30pm. The delivery arrived at 9-15. I called to complain and they could not have been more helpful. They told us to keep the original order, resent the original order at 10-15 as they explained that they close at 10pm on Monday evening. The food was lovely and the service even better. I would highly recommend them.

Food isn't great and for what you get it's overpriced.

Really not good at all. I have used happy valley a few times over the last year. Staff have always been nice and food has been good. Tonight our food was terrible. I got the crispy salt and chili chicken which was just chunks of chicken deep fried. (I know what you might be thinking... that’s what Crispy chicken is) It was tasteless and very chewy. No sauce at all. My wife had chicken chow main which was ok but bland. Then she pulled a ladies hair out of her mouth that was wrapped around a piece of chicken. Remainder of the food is now in the bin.

This used to be our favourite take away , but very disappointed with meals tonight. Asked for curried pork but got curried char sui it was very tough so couldn't eat it and the onions were raw. The curry sauce doesn't taste like it used to so think twice about ordering again

Food arrived 10 mins after ringing its was hot but chips and gravy doesn't taste nice,chow mein noodles are dry and got no taste at all. Egg fried rice taste dry to won't be ording from there again after Iv just paid £17.50 very disappointed

Good food a bit pricey compared to others

Never in my life had egg fried rice in a bag paid shy of £40 for a meal that isn't worth the value. Said be there in hour arrived within 20min all pre cooked not ordering from here again

Not worth even 1 star chips were not cooked properly and was cold also the chicken was not cooked properly and the sauce was like something out of a frozen ready meal in fact a ready meal would of been better extreamley bad will never ever ever be returning and will be letting my mates know also at how bad this was .

Had the misfortune to call in for my favourite chinese takeaway special curry and fried rice. Tried just about every takeaway in town and enjoyed every one until i entered what i now call the unhappy valley. Where do i start yes the fried rice. Bland tasteless and strangley greasy, lumpy and undercooked. Last time i tasted something this bad it came out of a microwave in an Uncle Bens bag. Now to the not very special curry. Prawns the size of sultanas, tesco own possibly. Turning to the chicken made from chunks of ready cooked ( heron must have a special) lumps and not thoroughlybheated, Beef obviously processed rubbery ( not in a chinese way) thin cut into squares stringy. Pork rock hard inedible. Curry sauce tasteless out of a jar. And the price for this culinary delight £9.00. Yes £9.00, i will in future avoid this place like the plague and return to my usual haunt at the Turbinia or 4 seasons where the food is consistently excellent. Do not use.

Bland and dry (no sauce) chicken fried rice. Sloppy rubbery beef in black bean sauce, grease soaked chips and stale prawn crackers. There are much better options in Aycliffe.

A very nice meal and delivered promptly

If you want a Chinese in Newton Aycliffe, this is the best place for you. Food always served nice and warm. Tastiest food around town. The staff are always friendly, the lady at the counter could be a little more polite. If you look behind the counter you can see all the lovely notes people have left about this takeaway. Just goes to show how lovely Happy Valley truly is!

Love the food and great service

Tried calling to order food and the lines were busy so drove to get a Chinese. The woman who was working didn't even acknowledge us at first, got ignored for the first 5 minutes. Then she was having a full on conversation with another woman who was waiting (we still were not served). She finally said she would be with us after the following phone call, we waited and she hung up, continued to have her conversation with the woman and then picked up the ringing phone. We left straight away! Definitely won't be returning.

Came quick was hot duck was tender chips as good as any were we enjoyed not the cheapest but well worth it

Lovely food but the prices are close to restaurant prices. Got 3 curries last night for £24. Think it is a little over priced for a curry. Nice food every time though.

Overpriced, for what we got, and although there were several dishes it all tasted the same and seemed to be soaked in soya sauce.

Food varies to be honest... it's connected to the Mr chippy next door... menu isn't as vast as it could be.. quite pricey compared to other Chinese takeaways that are local.

Love it but some times it can be a bit salty

Nine times out of Ten I get this: Sweet & Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style Spring rolls Prawn Crackers I tell you it's brilliant every time, the chips I think are lovely with the gravy and the Spring rolls are lovely and crispy. The only thing I have to complain about is Happy Valley is not on any eating apps like Just Eat, now that would be amazing if they get themselves on that.

Terrible chips where soggy and tasted disgusting and the salt and chilli chicken barely tasted of anything nevermind chicken wouldent recommend even my dogs would turn away

I just ordered A26 , ie curry sauce and chips with a few onions , what I got was 11 chips with a plate full of sliced onions ............bloody disgusting
