Delicious food , good service will defo use again. Recommend garlic chicken, sweet chilli Crispy beef and veg chow main. Delivery took a bit longer but food was hot 🔥

Food could have been a lot hotter, food came in an open cardboard box. About a 1/3 of my sauce was in the box. Not very impressed!!!! And 20 minutes late. Not likely to use again.

Got a chicken in yellow bean sauce with cashew nuts gluten free for my wife. Also rice noodles. My wife loved it. We got one from another Chinese not too far away from there won’t mention which one. But it was not even edible didn’t listen to what she actually needed. All can say is if you need special recipe meals allergy wise. You will be listened to and get exactly what you need. Lovely people and service won’t go anywhere else in the future. Thank you all that work there see you soon. X

I have just visited my daughter and we decided to have a take away from here. OMG this is the worse chinese food I have ever had. Everything was luke warm. All seemed microwaved. We ordered chicken balls and they were cold and full of uncooked batter. Cantonese prawns, I don't even know what they were. Chips seemed warmed up. The rice dishes seemed uncooked and the rice was hard. The spring roll was warm and full of grease. Every dish was disgusting. If we weren't about to go on holiday and limited on time this would have been going straight back. We binned it and made some food. All for the pleasure of £55. I'm glad I don't live locally because this would put me off ordering take aways ever again. No excuses for this level of food just bad chefs and bad management

Not a great meal - I only ordered a mushroom curry and a chicken Singapore noodles. The curry was completely tasteless with not many mushrooms. The noodles were fine. A BIG letdown and won't go there again. Imperial Wok is the best and can't be beaten IMHO!

Another great takeaway from the best Chinese in town. My partner is gluten intolerant and Neal always advises on the menu choices. Wonderful service and food.

Absolutely disgusting that after 15 years of getting a takeaway every week or every other week at that at least 55pound per order that yet again our order was wrong and to top it the owner neil chucked the missing items at me 40 mins after the original order and not even a apology!!disgusting customer service after being loyal after so many years,we wont be coming to you again and neither will our friends!!such a arrogant attitude from the owner

Absolutely disgusting at how we were treated by neil the owner,this is the most expensive take away in diss but was always the best,always spent 200 pounds per month with them,2day yet again the order was wrong to have the missing items delivered once everything else was cold!!delivered by the owner who didn't even have the decency to apologise!!never again shall we being going there,clearly loyalty means nothing to the owner

I ordered a takeaway at 5.20pm they said it would take to 6.30pm for delivery. did not arrived at 6.40pm, so I call them up and it came about 5 min's later only to dish it up luke warm .I don't spend £37.90 on a meal to eat it cold, if I would of know I would of collected it as I only live 5 min's down the road . I was so disappointed as it was a special that ended up as a spoilt one, waist of money

Simply brill...best in Diss by far

This place used to be my all time favourite but sadly after this last take out, im no longer going to be using it. Having ordered mushroom omelette and chips, I received scrambled eggs with mushrooms resembling and tasting like something the cat coughed up, Another favourite was the vegetable spring rolls- these were simply not the same, didnt taste fresh and crispy like normal. I wouldn't normally leave a bad review of somewhere I once loved so much but this has been the 3rd/4th time where it's not been up to standard. I wanted a Chinese take out last night and wouldn't normally think twice about where I was going-it would have been happy palace every time! I remembered my previous trips this year which forced me to try a new place-which to my pleasant surprise was great!! On a plus, staff are lovely at Happy Palace and so is the owner, hoping they will make necessary changes!

Called through to order a take away for collection, left my name, there was another take away collection with my name due to collect at 6.30pm, and I was due to collect at 5.20pm, the 6.30pm collection turned up early and took my order in error, they returned with my order whilst they cooking my order again. When the other person returned with my order, the girl offered me that food when the other customer returned as they took in error. I refused to take that food as they were cooking my order fresh. A simple misunderstanding and confusion as we both had the same name, even though our collection times were an hour apart. It waa resolved in a quick sufficient time scale with fresh food cooked and was really good food to see in NYE. No complaints at all as issue resolved, will always use as love our Chinese takeaways from here. Happy New year, wishing you a great 2023.

The happy house Chinese in diss,the most disgusting king prawn curry I have had in my life,I complained to the management and was told I would not have a refund let a lone another curry,irrespective of the reviews for this establishment I would not recommend them at all.(rubbish)

Never go anywhere else for our Chinese takeaway, never disappoints.

Can't fault the service and delivery time was as advised but the quality of the food was a very big let down. King Po was hot but not flavored, bbq ribs were not very tasty, lemon chicken was a let down and the veg curry was basically a load of mushy tinned stuff. None of the family enjoyed it, definitely lacking in fresh ingredients and not on a par with other choices locally.

Food is always lovely and really really hot when delivered. Delivery drivers are always super friendly too.

Ordered at 7pm. Phone call received at 8.30 to say delivery vehicle had broken down but the food would be prepared again and delivered in around 30 mins. Now 9.04pm and still waiting ☹

Best customer service from a lovely young lady (hannah I think was her name) very patient and helpful with taking my order. The food was lovely and the manager Neal is such a nice guy. Travelled from norwich to diss just to try the food and haven't regretted it since. 😊 Side note: try the salt and pepper chips

We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past when it was sit-down dining. To our dismay we found that they now only do take away, however, we decided to try it. Quite disappointing, something was not right. There seemed to be less flavour in the food and the filling in the egg rolls was quite raw. Is someone else cooking the food for the takeaway? Please bring your sit-down/table menu back again. You had just the right atmosphere and beautiful table setting for a pleasant dining experience.

Worst chicken curry I’ve ever had it was bland watery and the chicken was terrible no taste to it at all. I’ve only just moved into the area but most definitely will not use this place again.

Just moved to the area & desperately needed a takeaway after lots of DIY & gardening. Jumped on the local community page to ask for a recommendation & was inundated with positive reviews for Happy Palace…. It did not disappoint! Great quality & value for money. Lovely friendly service. Now in a food coma & very happy!!

Was really looking forward to my takeaway but when it arrived I couldn't eat any of it. I got the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken smells very off to the point where smelling it made me feel sick. Chow mein and fried rice had no flavour and were very bland. I'm really upset as I'd read lots of good reviews, but my experience was awful

I don't think I've ever had a Chinese as bad as this... Everything was bland and flavourless. Far too greasy and far too little flavour to be fully enjoyed, unfortunately. Also discovered they hold a ZERO STAR FOOD HYGEINE RATING. I'm afraid I'll be sticking with Diss' alternatives for the future. I can't understand the good reviews; I can only assume it's because the owner is a genuinely nice person. Unfortunately, nice people don't mean nice food.

Family meal for 4 people ordered, 2/4 was disgusting. No flavour what so ever the meals were chicken curry and chicken chow mein destination bin. Think they forgot to put the MSG in to enhance the flavour.Spoke to Neil was not very accommodating I asked had he changed his chef.This was not the standard we usually received.

This is the only Chinese restaurant/takeaway to go to in Diss. Neal, the owner bends over backwards to offer the best food and customer service. Quick service, great food and generous portions. Can't fault it.

Excellent food; affordable and very tasty! We were given our order in a cardboard box which made collection a lot easier for transporting home in the car!

First time to buy a takeaway from Happy Palace. I dont eat brown rice and wasnt offered white or brown when ordering, got home and noticed given brown rice. Chicken Chop Suey didnt have much bean sprouts, but quite a bit of onion. Certainly got a long way to go to beat Youngs, Sudbury.

As always, food ready when said, tasted great, portion sizes were just right, the only Chinese Takeaway I use.

Today I ordered £29 worth of good for delivery as a trest for father's Day. My chicken chow mein had some added nasties black hairs.not ours I'm red my partner brown but these were very black and s clump of them I called the restaurant to explain and the owner basically said he could not deliver another I live to far away and they are busy..I live 5 miles away. I asked how am I going to get my money back he said next time you order I'll give you it free,he then said he did not have time to talk to me.He also said he cooked the chow mein himself and he was busy so goodbye. I will NEVER be ordering again so now I have no dinner and £29 down as we all felt too sick to eat any of the other dishes.

Very impressed. From ringing my order through to delivery was 50 minutes and I live 8miles away. The lady who took the order was very professional and friendly. The delivery man was very polite and friendly and the food didn’t disappoint. Best chicken satay I’ve ever had. We would recommend the Happy Palace

All I can say is yuk. I don't understand how this place has such good reviews?! The food was horrid. I know it's not a good thing to admit this, but I've eaten at a lot of Chineses, so I feel I can comment when I say that the food from here was really not very good at all. I couldn't even tell what sort of meat was in one of the dishes we ordered. I actually thought they'd given us the wrong food in the beginning. Oh and we drove all the way home to find they hadn't given us everything we ordered. Should have stuck to the other Chinese in Diss.

We ordered a takeaway from here because the one we usually go to was closed. Let’s start on a positive note, the quality of the crispy duck was good and there were enough pancakes provided for the amount of duck given. Unfortunately everything else just tasted and looked the same, orange and of sweet chilli sauce! The peanut satay sauce was more like VERY sickly sweet chilli sauce rather than proper peanut satay sauce. The chow mein was orange like I’ve never seen before and tasted of ..... nothing ..... super bland! If you like sweet chilli sauce then you’ll be in heaven. If you want the dishes to taste different to each other then I’d steer clear. We wouldn’t return in a hurry, sorry Happy Palace!

Excellent Chinese food (easily the best around), made with fresh ingredients, well cooked, they are good with food intolerances and allergies (gf&df), well managed by Neil and his team giving great service. The salt and pepper chilli squid, and Singapore vermicelli noodles are particularly good imho.

One of best genuine oriental foods in the area. Small restaurant in the centre of Diss and staff seem friendly. Take-away is possible, though atmosphere in restaurant is welcoming, warm and cozy.

Happy palace owner is a very friendly chap.always very busy due to the good quality of their food. They also deliver how which makes it so much easier to obtain what your after due to how busy they get. They have a restaurant or seated dining area. Which you can hook in advance if you wanted to. One small point I think they may have changed the chicken supply as the quality of their chicken has gone from very good and fresh to poor to very bad. Bad enough for me not to order it any more. The good things vastly out weigh the chicken. If you get the chance it's well worth visiting and eating there.

Have used this place several times over the years and the food has been good and portions adequate. I feel however the number of dishes supplied with the fixed menus could be greater.

Went to the happy palace for a birthday meal and it didn't disappoint. I do find some Chinese food way too salty but this was perfect. All of the staff were really friendly. There are no negatives at all, will definitely be back!

Very friendly staff. Best Chinese I’ve had in a while. Great prices for the portion sizes you get. Had sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice and seaweed which we all enjoyed. Will definitely be going again

The food was really good, possibly the best capital ribs and noodles I've had the pleasure of eating. We turned up late on Sunday unannounced when they were hosting a party, They sorted a table and the service was still a lot quicker than many places. Definitely recommend eating here.

Lots of good reviews but information my experience wasn't the best! I was disappointed with my delivery so rang and spoke to the manager to voice my disappointment. He told me to use a different restaurant and was not in the slightest bothered by my complaint. I've eaten here before and have enjoyed the experience but it's obvious that once in a while we all get it wrong but it was clear he wasn't in the slightest bothered. He told me to use another restaurant so next time it's the Golden Dragon and to be fair they are as nice if not better! Last time I ever use Happy Palace and will tell everyone I know that the management are absolutely useless at people skills!!!!

Chinese here always fresh. Hot and full of flavour from takeaway to eating in. The staff are lovely, very friendly atmosphere.

First time visit to the Happy Palace in Diss and we weren't disappointed.I believe it's the whole experience that should be taken into consideration when reviewing a place and giving it an overall rating, lots of people give five stars then comment on the slow service, price, surrounding and even the quality/temperature of the food.So this is why the Happy Palace got 4 stars from me.Went on a Saturday evening.The place is really well set out, decorated and lit, lovely atmosphere.The service was nice and prompt.We had beef and black bean and chilli chicken with egg fried rice, very very tasty.The cost was right for a sit down Chinese.The minus point was the amount of food you got for the main dishes, this was a little on the small side, I'm not a big eater but I could have polished my dish off and then some.One negative 4 stars simples, give it a try, maybe have a couple of starters.

Hubby was away and as he doesn't like Chinese, we never have it, so the girls and I decided that we must go and have Chinese locally. Checked on Trip Advisor so decided to try this place. The food was lovely, the service was very smiley and attentive and the toilets huge. Couldn't fault it and would highly recommend it.

Good Chinese, we generally only tend to use Happy Palace in Diss. Food is always good. As it's popular at busy time you do have to wait.

Last weekend my parents celebrated 50 years of marriage and their only request was to have spend the weekend with their children and grandchildren. My sister and I called into the Happy Palace to order a takeaway for that evening. The gentleman who took our order was assisted by his young son (?) and both could not have been more accommodating. They even suggested that they delivered as we were in their free zone which was a bonus.The food was delivered and was excellent, hot and fresh. My sister lives close to Norwich so plenty of choice but said it was better than any she had eaten and how lucky we were to have a decent Chinese so close. According to my neice and nephew, the best thing was there was enough left over for brunch the next day! Mum and dad had a wonderful weekend and we would like to thank all at the Happy Palace for making it so.

Absolutely amazing food, very friendly, can't knock the Happy Palace, they're brilliant.

Customer service needs improvement

After waiting over 1hour and 20minutes for our food, I called the Chinese and spoke to the rudest manager I have ever come accross. Having worked in customer service for my entire working career, I have never come accross anyone so nasty! After trying to explain that I have a 2 & 3 year old sat waiting for there food, he couldn’t have been less concerned. He became aggressive and hirate speaking over me, in the end I told him not to bother sending it.

Popped in for an evening meal with a friend and from the moment you arrive you are welcomed with a smile and feel very relaxed. Fantastic Food and they are very attentive. I would definately recommend eating here.
