Happy Haggis in Highland

I ordered a single battered fish and haggis pudding. Both were fine—the fish was crispy but not too stodgy. As a man trying haggis for the first time, I found it to be quite a large portion, which was too much for me.

I can’t say I’ve enjoyed my pie and chips but maybe it was because the price left a bitter taste in my mouth. Staff could do with smiling a little. Slow service, but I must admit it was quite busy. I wouldn’t go back.

Stopped in Aviemore for a couple of nights - great food, deep fried pizza is tasty, nice service

Have been using this 'chippy: for many years now. Easy to stop at - on main road, Parking may be difficult at busy times but usually fine. staff are brilliant and the tood is well prepared. Excellent for that meal at the end of a good day..

Amazing food shop that I’ve wanted to go to since 2017

This chippy was fab from the start the ladies serving are so friendly and helpful you feel so comfortable when you go in. And the food was fantastic so tasty and enjoyable I would definitely recommend to all and would definitely visit this chippy again

Cannot fault this place after we were starving following a morning hike. Busy but quick service, food so delicious not greasy and lovely flavours. Fair prices. Recommend the battered mars bar! This place deserves a higher rating.

Really good quality chips and chicken/pie/sausage with polite and friendly service and a pager.system to inform you when it is cooked. A few tables on site (we used one as visitors to the area, but clearly doing a lot of local takeaway business too.

Fantastic Fish and Chips Take Away. They also have some wooden benches next to the road. Quality of the food is award winning and that's for a reason. Fish and chips are delicious with a perfect crispy batter and mouthwatering chips taste. Variety of chilled drinks from the fridge, kids menue and a lot of other fried foods. Recommended as the chippy in Aviemore or just for a decent meal on the way north or south.

Battered fish was amazing. Big portion for the price. Chips were crispy and nice and big, staff were nice. Prices were good. Awesome place would recommend.

Popular chippy - good value & quality

Very poor we used to use here all the time but won't be back. The girl behind the counter couldn't speak or understand English. The food. Quality has went downhill and tasteless.

Decided on chippy tea and visited here on way through Aviemore. Good selection of dishes available. Chippy was popular but only 10 min wait. Fish and chips good size and very tasty, curry sauce not too spicy but also tasty. Prices in line with other similar places in Aviemore.

Very tasty fish & chips. The snack bar was very busy, but extremely well organized and it went very quickly. We ate on the benches outside the store. You can park your car in reserved parking bays or in a nearby parking lot.

We missed the rush by arriving bang on 5pm and just as well because the queue that formed afterwards was very long. Parking is limited, we got a space right across the road. We sat outside in the covered area to eat and enjoyed the atmosphere - there are 3 tables outside under a canopy which was great as the rain came out of nowhere! The food was excellent, price was in line with everywhere else. No complaints!

Ordered a takeaway thinking it was going to be good after the price they charge, sadly it was awful, the chips are just soggy mush and the batter has a strange taste to it . Friendly staff however the food is not great , probably one of the worst tbh.

These were good fish and chips, fresh, hot and not too greasy. Popular place at peak times and I can see why.

Had a takeaway here early July. Was fine but felt overpriced for the quality. Mushy peas were actually brown!! Service was friendly and quick

As chippies go, this was pretty poor. Possibly the worst Haggis I've ever had, had a consistency like porridge, no sign of any oatmeal or spices and the batter was like a rubber skin. The burger wasn't much better, it was only half eaten and described as "far too much going on there."

This is a fantastic chippy. The haggis supper was superb, beer battered onion rings awesome, and the curry sauce is amazing. My partner had the pizza crunch supper and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Not a hint of grease on anything. If you're visiting Aviemore, do yourself a favour and try this place. Outstanding.

This place was recommended by a local who said it's the best fish n chips in town, and it did not disappoint! No cod, only haddock fillets, which were light battered and held no excess oil. This was nothing like fish n chips you get in the U.S as it was light, airy, and not greasy at all. The vegetarian haggis was also amazing. If you're not wanting to try legit haggis definitely try the vegetarian option, you won't be disappointed.

I don't recommend this place and wont eat there again. Oil wasn’t fresh, chips portion generous but you have to take out a lot of nasty potatoes with big black bits, I presume goes through the machine but nobody bothers to take the mouldy bits out…. I only had a handful of chips clean looking chips but still had stomach cramps after and felt sick rest of the day. Avoid.

Popped in during my trip of Scotland and it's one of those times that you randomly pop in to a place and do not regret it. Food was great and had a great talk with the gentleman serving who informed me all about the surrounding area. 10/10

The best sausage & chips I've ever had and my hubby enjoyed the spicy chicken fillet meal. Good portion sizes and really really tasty. The server was fantastic and he carefully explained to a couple of people what the fish suppers were, since they were obviously from another country and this helped them make an informed decision. Highly recommend

At £11.95 for takeaway fish & chips, it's probably the most I've ever paid & almost pub / restaurant prices but without the mushy peas & tartar sauce although maybe not in those located Aviemore. Saying that though, the food was delicious & really well cooked - great chips accompanying melt in the mouth fish wrapped in a crispy batter that wasn't too overwhelming like some batters can be. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again but maybe not every day!

Difficult to define just what wasn't right. The staff were ok, funny atmosphere and the music was loud. Food was ok although felt it wasn't value for money. Let's just say, we didn't go back.

Went here on Tuesday 28th May. Ordered a breaded fish with chips, battered sausage with chips, an extra portion of chips and tub of curry sauce. Came to just under £27. Fish and battered sausage were good but the chips were atrocious. We seemed to get thru dregs. Small hard bits of fried nothing and loads of chips with black bits. This place is certainly not cheap therefore you expect quality. Unfortunately we didn't get quality. It may have been a one off but I certainly won't rush back. I've had better suppers in various chip shops who are far less expensive than this overrated shop. Shop is always busy and looked forward to trying it out but was extremely disappointed. My tip to anyone when ordering is to express that you want decent chips with your supper.

Well it's a complete "chip shop" experience. French fries with sauces, salt and vinegar for those interested, deep-fat delicacies - this is not a salad bar :). The fries could be a little crispier, but the fish was crispy, fresh and delicious. A bit shabby on the outside, but it's not a restaurant after all. Very nice service, the young guy behind the cash register radiates energy and kindness.

Ultra friendly and cheery staff - couldn't fault them. Outdoor seating area was handy as we were just passing though. Food was mostly fine although chips and sausages were a little bit overcooked.

Honestly the best fish and chips my family have ever had. We went there twice in a week and we were staying 90 minutes away. Lovely bloke serving us as well.

One of the hidden gems in the world. Fantastic food with cool staffs and boss . Love everything about this humble eatery. Definitely one of the best and authentic Fish and Chips in Scotland. Had it 3 days in a row.

Came in for a takeaway. Freshly cooked and tasty meal. We ordered 3 small meals and 1 fish supper… totalling an eye watering £33. If you’re happy to pay this then crack on - however we won’t be back.

I normally don’t eat a lot of fried food. But this place does something about it that I had to eat here several times. Everything was so crispy and tasty, that this place spoiled me for the other places I went to in Scotland. I could find something comparable again, unfortunately. Keep on with the good work! Also the staff is very friendly and makes you feel more welcome to this frying hut than some people to their own homes. Unfortunately I couldn’t go more often to try their whole menu.

I'm crying that i had to go back home without trying eating from here again or taking some more with me, be proud your fish are chips are possibly the bests ones we tried.

This chippy was busy and seemed like it was going to be great but was sorely disappointed. Chips were overdone and not even prepared well (lots of black spots left in and some unpeeled) king rib was an off flavour and everything was dry

Fish cake chips with curry sauce and mushy peas. The chips were poorly cooked some raw nd some over cooked. The curry sauce was average as was the mushy peas. Fish cake was average and cooked fine. If this had cost me £8 fair enough but it was £13.60. Overpriced and poor quality.

Good value and correctly cooked. Not sure how to rank "atmosphere" for a takeaway but the shop is very clean and well presented. Impressed the chef understood and was familiar with things like dairy free dietary requirements.

As a foreigner I have to say haggis is a blessing and I can’t get enough! This crispy haggis pie was very tasty and the chips were perfection. Stop by and get yourself treat at Happy Haggis if you’re around Aviemore 😉

My go to place every time I come to Aviemore. Mozzarella sticks and garlic mayo are the best I’ve ever had. Battered mars bars are a must try. And of course the staple chip shop chips are as good as you’ll get anywhere. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. You’d struggle to find a better chippy anywhere!

Unfortunately the food wasn't the best 😕 but the staff were lovely the place was really tidy and clean and menu was very clear on the big screens. The only thing that let it down was the chips, they had alot of black bits and there wasn't that many. I did try the Battered pizza, never tried that before and quite frankly never will again, not there fault just not for me. Great parking

Best chippy ever and we've tried a lot! Definitely the best in aviemore. Chips were expensive but you got a lot, many places are giving really small portions now. Husband said white pudding was delicious and it didn't cost much to add it onto the chips. We asked for scraps and they gave us a whole carton full and they were absolutely delicious. Gravy was nice, so we're the mushy peas, neither were watery like a lot of other places. Would highly recommend A+

Les portions sont très copieuses et les tarifs abordables. Toutefois les frites ne sont vraiment pas à mon goût (pas assez cuites et trop blanches) Quant au poisson et fruits de mer, cette fois ci, eux sont trop cuits. Donc en définitive, même si les portions sont copieuses et peu cher, je préfère ne pas revenir ici

Friendly staff and food was beautifully cooked. Being a southerner, the fried Mars bar was novel, but my wife coming from the Midlands is not so sure.

Had a delicious takeaway from here. Huge portions. Sat in the outside seating area as we had the dog with us. Fast service even though it was busy

Oh wow, you must try deep-fried pizza! This was a game changer. The lady serving us was really sweet and really pleasant to talk to. The food was very hot and the chips were perfect. The place always had customers in and out while we sat outside to eat our food, which is always a good sign.

We ordered fish and chips and battered mars bars. The service was excellent, both fast and friendly despite it being very busy. It was some of the best fish and chips we've had (and we're from Pembrokeshire). Would definitely visit again when in Aviemore.

Great food served here! You have got to try the munchie box - enough for 4 people. Well worth the money!

Bright and clean inside with good COVID standards. Unfortunately the fish suppers did not live up to the same standards. Very greasy small portion of fish and chips were not crisp and golden but rather dark brown and soggy. Won’t be back sorry 😞

Bitterly disappointing. Fish in breadcrumbs dreadful and chips hard and cold. Genuinely avoid. There has to be better in Aviemore than this!? If I could award 0 star that would more accurately reflect the food.

Why do fish and chips shops do it? Just to save a few pennies they serve old, dried out chips. This is Exactly what happened at the Happy Haggis tonight. Fish and black pudding made to order- Delicious. Chips been lying too long dry and tasteless. So what do they do combine them both for a supper, just to save a few pennies. Fresh chips would have taken the same time to make and would have got them 5 stars. Next time you’re in the shop getting close to closing time ask for fresh chips. If they refuse walk out
