Amazing stay in this hotel for our four year anniversary. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special experience. Beautiful room and decor in the hotel. Food was fantastic and staff were all lovely and friendly.

Exceptional!!! By far the best meal we have had in Scotland. Enjoyed a mussel starter enhanced with a leek and Drambuie sauce. Main entrees were cod and chicken that definitely was fresh and locally sourced. Accompanied by roasted carrots that were delicious.. The service was friendly and attentive. I am a food snob and would definitely come back.

we didn't stay or even eat (except for a hot chocolate) but they were really super kind, unfortunately we had an accident with the car and they helped us talk to the operator (we don't speak English well) and he hosted us in the 'hotel. it's not obvious, super kind and helpful, even the girls in the room were really kind. recommended even just for the staff, the croissants had a really nice face and a good scent. John is the chef who assisted us and helped us talk to the operator, great man!

My husband and I loved everything about the Hotel Marmalade from the view of our hotel room and the awesomeness Kimberly the receptionist was. Kimberly provided us information about local trails when we couldn't drive to Old Man of Storr due to our flat tire situation. The trails were awesome because they were literally right by the coast. The views were unforgettable. We appreciate the hotel itself was walking distance to the town. Close and near, not smackdab middle neither far from the town, which we think was just right. The food of the hotel's restaurant was delicious. The sconser scallops was our favorite. Everything they had was local. After a busy day of fun, winding down with the hotel's sauna was a perfect way to end the day. My husband and I would totally visit Skye and stay at the hotel again! Thank you for everything Kimberly and the wonderful staff. You guys made our stay welcomed and warm.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights in the fall of ‘23. The staff were helpful in answering questions about the area, and we had a beautiful view from our room. Everything was very clean. Loved the breakfast!

Super lovely hotel! The rooms were nice and clean and we loved the relaxation area with the saunas. The hotel was conveniently located walking distance to restaurants, cafes, and bars and not too far of a drive from some attractions like the Storr, Talisker Distillery, and much more. Felt very safe too. Last but not least, the staff were super friendly (shoutout to Susanna!).

Only stayed at the hotel one night, but what a great place and I will go back when I can. Amazing reception from staff who personally showed us to our room and other facilities available during our stay.

I love this place. Shoutout to Kimberly and Sussana (I think? Spelling) - we were welcomed in the warmest possible way, and throughout our stay our hosts were helpful, kind, and engaging. The hotel is beautiful. There is easy parking on-site, and it is a super quick walk downtown. Our room was gorgeous and spacious, the breakfast was quick and delicious, and the sauna/cold bucket were a massive highlight after a long day hiking (schedule ahead of time). The team was short staffed as we visited at the end of busy season so a couple of things we were aware of - restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday, but they were helpful in making recommendations and reservations elsewhere. They have a bar open after 5, you just have to ask one of the hosts at the front and they will serve you. We spent a few hours in the common lounge playing games and they checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. There are so many small touches to this place that make it so great - will be staying here again.

Stilvolles Restaurant in einem Hotel. Essen fantastisch, es fehlte an nichts. Leider trübte der Service das gesamte Erlebnis: wir waren pünktlich da, wurden dann wo min am Eingang stehen gelassen (3 Mitarbeiterinnen nahmen uns zur Kenntnis, sind dann aber schnell wieder ihrer Wege gegangen), das Essen kam vor dem Rotwein und die Beilagen waren zwar gut aber eben fast schon kalt. Dafür dann doch zu teuer. Fazit: in besseren Service investieren, das Essen ist so gut, da sollte der Service es auch sein.

El servicio en Chargrill no decepcionó. Estábamos cansados de un largo viaje desde Edimburgo. Nos alojamos en Marmalade así que nos refrescamos, caminamos por el pasillo a este gran restaurante y disfrutamos de una deliciosa comida. Aquí fue donde probé por primera vez la ginebra local de la Isla de Skye. Tenía el gin tonic rosa perfecto. El pescado que pedí fue cocinado a la perfección mientras mi hija disfrutaba de su filete.

Spacious, clean and well-equipped rooms. You can buy the handmade bathroom soaps at reception. Free parking and next to a supermarket. A place to stay if you want to rest after a visit to the Isle of Skye. You also have the possibility of going to the sauna, and the breakfast was delicious, both what they serve you at the table and the hot dishes we tried (avocado toast and poached egg, along with smoked salmon toast with poached egg). And of course, the attention of the two girls in the restaurant, wonderful.

This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in and is nothing like the description provided. We paid over £300 for a one night stay and got the following: ° The staff, with the exception of the older Scottish lady at reception, were either rude or very odd/uptight. I witnessed one staff member being incredibly short/disinterested towards someone on the phone who sounded as if they were just looking for a room. The staff member that greeted us on arrival was somewhat indignant when we turned up 30mins before check-in and made a big fuss about checking to see if a room was ready for us. Really, I didn't care if one was, but it did seem to put her out. ° The staff were very odd about dinner and breakfast reservations, insisting they were very busy. When we did turn up for dinner the restaurant was empty and not even half full when we finished our meal. ° No mini-fridge in the room. A £300+ a night room. ° Bedside table on one side of the bed only, so I gave the one table to my wife and put my belongings on the floor beside me. A £300+ a night room. ° The smart TV didn't connect to the WiFi and the staff didn't seem to know why or care. They suggested I use Chromecast from a mobile device. The TV didn't have Chromecast and wouldn't have worked as it didn't connect to the WiFi anyway. All the other hotels we stayed at during our trip, that were half the price, had WiFi connected smart TVs. So at night, we watched TV on our tiny iPad, on the bed I understand that people might find this place superficially charming/quaint however, the people who own/run the establishment are trying far too hard to dress this place up as 'fancy' and just come off as pithy and snooty. Unfortunately, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. The level of service and amenities provided at greater than £300 a night are absolutely criminal.

Absolute rip off for £390/night. I’m sorry this was the only room left on Skye during our holiday and now I understand why. This was the most expensive hotel of our trip and my least favorite. Zero water pressure in our room, no bathroom lighting, absent service (friendly staff but way over worked and understaffed), restaurant closed for both evenings we were there during high season which was disappointing as breakfast was delicious! I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately horrible value.

We are staying at the hotel that is part of the restaurant. Both are fantastic. I would highly recommend both. The food & cocktails were wonderful & the staff attentive & friendly.

We were dining at the restaurant with 3 people and we ordered the three meats, 2 sirloins and 1 entrecote, very tender and served with 2 garnishes to choose from, both of which were very good. Restaurant that must be reserved since in August there is a lot of demand. The prices are high but the quality is worth it. Service and attention of 10 and the room is very elegant.

Incredibly dissapointed. The hotel was not up to par by any means including the welcome at the front desk reception etc. The price is outrageous for what you get. This is an average 3 star hotel.

great restaurant in Portree, very nice and neat location, very kind staff. Great menu also suitable for vegetarians and something for vegans, which is very rare in these parts. High prices but average for the place. Really a great surprise, excellent, I recommend it ottimo ristorante a Portree, location molto bella e curata, staff molto gentile. Ottimo menù adatto anche a vegetariani e qualcosa per vegani, cosa molto rara da queste parti. prezzi Alti ma nella media per il posto. Davvero una gran bella sorpresa, ottimo, lo consiglio!!!!

The restaurant is set in a contemporary interior and is part of a hotel, just outside the city centre of Portree (off-road car parking available). The service was quick and flawless, but the food was just about OK. We started with the raviolo (yes, you read it correctly: a single, but big raviolo filled with cheese). Not bad, but not exceptional neither. I had the surloin as main dish. A tasteful piece of meat, but the béarnaise was a bit of a disappointment. So was the mushroom accompaniment: they were put in a far too sweat cream that didn’t match well with the meat. My wife ordered a cod pavé. A large, good-looking piece of fish at first sight, but a complete disappointment when she tried it. The fish was pretty tasteless: it was dry and chewy, not the glazy, fresh outlook you’d expect from a decently cooked cod. It was clearly overcooked. Not hyperfresh anymore? The lemon custard desert was really good, but could’t make it up anymore. Such a pity!

Our family of four treated ourselves to steak in between many meals of seafood on our trip. The steaks were great. Had sirloin and ribeye with peppercorn sauce. Sides of vegetables, potatoes and fries were all good. We also enjoyed fresh scallops as appetizers. Definitely recommend.

Seemed to be nice. All started off well. Ordered the rib eye for 2, was told would come medium rare which is fine. Sides were good but the meat was tough and dry. Complained to 3 different people and really did not get any satisfaction. Was told that chef said it is dry aged so going to be dry and potentially tough. Hmmm... They took some money off our bill. For the price we were paying as well as we are guests at the hotel, they should have made more of a effort to make it right.

An intimate restaurant in a sophisticated setting. Local ingredients cooked with a skillful hand. Charming and attentive staff.

Arrived in Portree after a long drive from Inverness, dropped our bags and headed to Chargrill. We hadn't booked, but the staff were kind enough to offer us a table with a short 15 minute wait. The wait was truly worth it. Simple & quite elegant dining room, the staff couldn't do enough to ensure everything was how we wanted it. The Sirloin steak was one of the best meat dish meals I've ever had, my wife ordered the chicken which was also delicious. 2x sides included with each main, poppyseed and sesame seeded rolls to start with a Marmite butter taste that's amazing (nothing like Marmite!!) Highly recommend dropping into this quaint restaurant if visiting Portree/Isle of Skye.

A real gem in the hotel landscape on the Isle of Skye. The location upon arrival doesn’t make you think what’s about to come, it’s still very pretty but when you get inside it is a modern and slick space with an excellent restaurant to the left as you enter. The rooms are well decorated and spacious. We were on the first floor and had a back porch leading onto the garden and the also beautiful trees all around. The Spa are two private saunas you can book for an hour which come with access to a relaxation room that has water and tea readily available with lounge like day beds that next to a fireplace set into the well makes for a great experience. The last bonus is that while not directly in the town center it is at most a five minute walk that is very easy and pretty.

Adequate. If you enjoy the assembly line, anonymous style of lodging this is the place for you. Staff barely look up from their computer. Rooms are adequate like any small chain hotel. Inflexible with regard to breakfast timing. I would suggest due diligence in seeking other accommodations.

Fantastic stuffed cabbage appetizer. All the sides we tried with our entrees were amazing. You could make a meal of just the sides, especially the ratatouille stuffed tomato and the Jerusalem artichoke. Save room for the apple dessert with the cinnamon ice cream. The views are spectacular too. Great value for the money.

Marta and Erin were amazing. They held the restaurant down and were able to serve over 7 tables without missing a beat. We felt like we were valued customers and the food was exceptional to boot. So hats off to the cooks as well! Went here 2 of the 3 nights we were in portree. The only place the loved up to our standards of quality food and service!

My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary while in Skye. This was our favorite hotel from our entire Scotland/Ireland trip. We were blown away by the thoughtfulness & hospitality of the staff. The rooms are clean and beautiful. Breakfast is incredible and filled us up each day for all of the hiking we did. I really can't say enough good things about this hotel. We will definitely be back!

The night shift employee at the reception was very helpful when we arrived. The bedroom was spacious with a nice view. The reception called our bedroom at 8:35 am to make sure we were still having our breakfast at 8:30. We were about to close our bedroom's door when they called us and I found it too oppressive.

This was a fantastic dinner with amazing service. There were only two women working doing absolutely everything and they were spot on. Highly recommend!!

What a wonderful hotel and amazing staff!! We had an unplanned visit to the Marmalade (because things happen despite all the planning that goes into a trip!), and we were so blown away by their hospitality. The rooms are beautiful with luxurious linens, and there are gorgeous views from the rooms! The section we stayed in, if I remember correctly, was apartments in the 19th century, and were updated and modern but held onto the character with gorgeous woodwork and charm. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our quiet breakfast, which was delicious and peaceful. Their staff and manager were so welcoming and helpful, and they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I don’t think I could possibly thank them enough for the fabulous experience we had with them and for all they did for us. Highly, HIGHLY recommend a stay at the Marmalade on Skye!

Exceptional service and food! Notably the best service and food I have had since I have arrived in Scotland. I cannot say enough how amazing the two women serving everyone were, they were on point and never missed a thing. Everything was cooked to perfection.

This lovely restaurant is just up the hill from town. Excellent and friendly staff with special thanks to Marta and Erin. We had the Rib eye with peppercorn and brandy sauce and Monkfish. Both were excellent. Dinner came with two sides that were nicely sized and delicious. highly recommended

The title of Char Grill does not do this place justice. It's so much more than just a char/grill. It's a little way out of the town but a huge way ahead of anything we ate in town. Located in the Marmalade Hotel, it's well worth taking the short journey up the hill. We were pleasantly surprised to find someplace in Portree that knew how food should be cooked, presented & served. The 3 nights prior to us visiting the Char Grill at the Marmalade Hotel we ate food that struggled to reach average. Had we found this place on our first night we would have eaten here every night. It's not a huge menu, but it screams quality. We had cranberry & poppy seed rolls with a choice of quennelled flavoured butter. Cabbage stuffed with wild rice & dried fruit followed by monkfish, chicken supreme, & a choice of potatoes & vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service matched the food for quality. My daughter remarked that she couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten food as good. I had to concur. So, if you like good food & eating where the staff know what they are doing, then make the effort to go here. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

We are staying in the hotel and, after a long journey from London, booked a table in the restaurant for our first night. The food was very good, the dessert to die for and the wines were good and fairly priced. Will be back in a couple of days.

The staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing! So kind and always approachable. The rooms are also beautiful and we treated ourselves to a lovely sauna. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and great value for money! Overall it’s a great hotel in a great location but the staff is really what made our experience.

Visiting Isle of Skye with a friend and my friend booked this restaurant for our first night. I had no expectations, it was a long journey from Edinburgh. The food was very tasty and the dining room was very tastefully decorated ( I could have been at a smart place in Edinburgh or London) .

How it started... my bad, we were 20 minutes late for diner with a group of 8 since we had a busy programme. We informed them by phone, but upon arrival the very young staff immediately started picking on us, that we HAD to immediately order without even asking for drinks first...... The reason: "the kitchen was very busy" and not happy that we were late, because a second seating would arrive. I can tell you that was b.s., since >70% of the restaurant was empty and it was almost 20.30 hrs... . After the 3rd reminder in 3 minutes that we HAD to order, still without drinks, we asked if they'd rather see us leave... the 2 young waitresses shrug their shoulders so we just decided to walk out. What an arrogance, what a complete lack of attention, what a joke... just because the kitchen wanted to go home and nobody cares..... This is how badly managed restaurants with ignorant personnel go down the drain. And believe me, prices on the menu are not cheap. Finally: the place looks nice and the lobby of the hotel (it's in a hotel) looks really stylish, but DO NOT book this for diner.

Oh my gosh this was soooo good!!! Thank you for fitting us in tonight and sharing the BEST food -- especially the scallops, lobster cannoli, and tofu! We love to support locally sourced food, drinks and amazing local staff. I would eat here over and over again!

Stellar service and excellent food. We had the cauliflower soup and chicken with a selection of side dishes. All delicious and beautifully presented.

First class service, very friendly and welcoming. Food was well presented and tasted delicious. The Monkfish Tail and Ratatouille Stuffed Tomato were highlights. Highly recommended.

Sehr begrenzte Speisekarte (größte Auswahl tatsächlich bei den Beilagen) - wir nahmen 6 Austern, Jakobsmuscheln, Seehecht und Schweinelende. Die Austern erschienen lieblos auf einem Teller (ohne Eis, Zitrone, Brot oder Butter), waren aber gut, ebenso die Jakobsmuscheln. Die Schweinelende war zäh und geschmacklos, der Fisch deutlich besser. Beilagen viel zu viel, dafür unspektakulär im Geschmack. Es gibt keinen einzigen - offenen - Weißwein, der typischerweise zu Fisch passt (dafür Riesling, der zu keiner der Speisen auf der Karte passt). Der Vinho Verde war exakt auf 175 ml abgezirkelt (ca 12€), zu warm und kam zu spät, da der Barmann mit den Gästen am Tresen plauderte. Nachtische zu Toffee- und Schokoladenlastig Der Service ist steril und macht auf vornehm, wobei dafür völlig die Substanz fehlt. Insgesamt entsteht einfach kein Gefühl, was auch zu einem Abend in einem guten Restaurant gehört. Deutlich zu teuer für die eher wenig beeindruckende Qualität. Ich würde nicht wiederkommen.

Wonderful experience here. Great service. Food was delicious: very well prepared and presented. I should say that hotel guests get breakfast and there are several tasty choices.

The food and service here were very good. It was close to where I stayed I went there twice. The oysters and the scallops were standout.
