Happy garden in Birmingham

Chips crispy- Excellent. For anyone who likes Crispy Chips in my opinion these are the best ones I've ever tasted (along with 'Happy House'). Banana Fritters crispy- Excellent. Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables- Great Value at just £2.30. Delivery charge only £1. Very quick. My first experience of 'Happy Garden' is excellent and I will be trying again. Update :- Vegetables in Kung Po Sauce - Excellent. Vegetables in Sweet & Sour Sauce - Excellent Cuŕy Chips in a Tray - Not to keen. Vegetables in Szechuan Sauce - Nice but a bit too hot for me. Vegetable Yuk Sung - Excellent. Onion Rings - Nice but a bit greasy. Green Vegetable Curry - Excellent (so, so tasty, ladled the sauce up afterwards, really delicious). Vegetable Mini Spring Rolls (8) - Nice 'n' crispy, bit greasy. Plum Sauce - tasty and at just £1.50 (as are all their sauces) cheapest anywhere (most other places £2 or above). I've been a bit disappointed lately with the Banana Fritters which haven't been as crispy as the first time I had them.

Ordered the sesame chicken "chefs recommendation" chicken was mushy, grey and tasted metallic. Absolutely disgusting. Chips are rock solid.

We had spring rolls dripping in grease frezzing cold in the middle will never have food from you again disgusting and this has not been the first time so look elst were were quality is better than quantity don’t waste your money on them 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Delivered promptly and was piping hot. Ordered the dry ribs with lemon, duck curry and chips and all was absolutely delicious. Both the lady that took my order and the delivery driver were both really friendly. Great food and service. Highly recommended 👌🏼

By far the best Chinese takeaway for Miles - ribs fall off the bone, homemade sesame prawn toast best I’ve ever had anywhere, salt and chilli king prawn outstanding everything’s prepared with skill and care, service is great and quick delivery, can’t fault Happy Garden in any way, thank you for yet another fantastic meal that tasted exactly how I wanted it to 👏🏽👍🏾🙏🏽❤️ I’d never go anywhere else 👍🏾

Good Chinese, good size portions. I always ring and collect and there is normally 10-20min time to collect which isn’t bad. Food is always hot and tastes good. Used it a few times and has always been the same 👌🏼. There chow mien is nice we always have that. They off collection and delivery too. No eating in this just a take away shop.

Ate from here the other day and the food seemed old like it had been laying around for days or something, the next day I had a very upset stomach with many trips to the toilet

Been having meals from here for years. Never had a single issue with the food. It can get busy (shows its popularity) so wait times can be a little long (I’ve waited over an hour) but on average I can collect after 15 minutes. I wish they would bring back card payments (cash only), but that’s my only negative. 5* for the food!

Thank you for a fab take away. Every dish was tasty, well cooked and even the prawn crackers were crispy and not oily. Finally after living in Birmingham for 30 years we have found a quality Chinese takeaway. Keep up the good work, would definitely recommend.

Ordered for the first time last week. Sweet and sour pork and the duck in black bean sauce were both especially delicious. Delivered by a friendly driver, everything was well packed. Highly recommend.

Ordered tonight, food was really nice, roast duck plum sauce, chips fab will do 2 people but we bought 2 portions, beef chow mein, chicken in backbean sauce. Food very tasty Delivery was good nice polite driver, took about 50 minutues to arrive. Choice of free spring rolls or prawn crackers with the order nice touch. Website not great to use, says online orders but is not actually taking orders yet, on the contact page it looks like you can place an order, in a text box, but no method to pay for it, looked clunky so phoned order instead. Girl on phone also wanted the postcode even though we live on Woodthorpe rd! :), and said cant pay using card over the phone, only accept cash on delivery not by card unless you go to the shop, duck in plumb sauce is not listed in duck dishes on the website but is in popular dishes, so you need to check if your regular item isn't listed where it should be. Still give it 5 stars as its really about the food and the delivery really.

Well, what can I say......bloody beautiful food. I had never been to the happy garden or even ordered any food from there until 3 nights ago, mainly because I don't live in the area and was visiting family at the time. So, I placed my order over the phone and requested that my omelette be well cooked, so 15 minutes later I collected my food and when I got home to eat I was absolutely amazed at the quality and quantity of the food. My omelette was perfectly cooked and the rest of the food was so delicious, in fact it was that nice we ordered again 2 nights after and again the food was equally delicious as the first time. I would definitely recommend this takeaway 100% not only for the food but also the staff are very friendly and polite and the prices are good too. Crispy Lemon chicken, egg fried rice, stir fried mushrooms. Not in the least appetising. On reflection I should have realised the meal would be sub standard. No more than 6 minutes elapsed between ordering the meal and having it ready to take away. Obviously the meal was ready and waiting to be reheated. The chicken batter was not crispy, not freshly cooked. The chicken was stringy, an unusual texture and not pleasantly edible. Not worth te £9 or so that it cost, and should not have been offered for sale.

My Wife and I haven't had a takeaway meal for over 18 months and we decided it would be a good idea to try Happy Garden because of the great reviews. We were really pleased with the Meals we ordered. The king Prawn curry was really fresh and the sauce full of flavour. We have found our new Take away. Try it, you wont regret it.

This is a review on the customer service of this take away more so than the food, which to be honest is ok for convienece but there are better ones about. Called up and was greeted with a very rude tone 'who's this and what do you want' Quite shocked by this and initially thought I had the wrong number, I explained I was calling to place an order. When I asked is this Happy Garden again she responded in a rude tone 'yes who is this' Thought this was very unprofessional and not a way to talk to potential customers down the phone. We have noticed a detoriation in the customer service and this has just confirmed it. Going forward I shall utilise somewhere else. Manners do not cost anything!

Great place try the crispy fryed chicken

I get a takeaway once a week and the quality is excellent, I have the prawns on toast every time and it is superb as it has real mashed prawns rather than a cheap substitute. The Happy Garden uses quality ingredients, for those looking for cheap ingredients and are more interested in quantity not quality this place is not for you. It would cost more than £3.60 in prawns to do 8 pieces of prawns on toast.

DO NOT USE THIS CHINESE THEY ARE THIEVES AND THREATENING - I dropped into the shop and ordered sesame prawn toast for my husband - they charged me £3.60 which I thought was a lot because the other local Chinese takeaways give 8-10 pieces of sesame prawn toast for less than £3. But I placed the order anyway thinking that the price would reflect the quantity. When I received the order it felt very lightweight, so I had a look and was horrified to find 1 piece of bread cut into 4 pieces for £3.60! I went back into the shop to question this and was met by a big bruiser of a white guy whilst the Chinese people hid in the back. When I questioned the amount I was met with aggression which really frightened me and was told basically to go away. I didn't argue cause he scared me. When I gave my husband the toast he told me it had no taste, it was bland and that there was barely any topping and also he asked where the rest of it was? I am not exaggerating I felt frightened when I walked back in especially as a single woman I really felt threatened. Do yourself a favour buy your food from someone who will give you firstly value for money, secondly, tasty food and thirdly and finally where you can get a meal without threat to your safety if you question anything. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE QUITE FRIGHTENING ACTUALLY - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP.

Really friendly family who run this place, best Chinese in our area for sure. Always met with a smile and food is always made quickly.

This place is so good, I made up a song about it. It goes (to the tune of 'La Cucaracha'): 'The Happy Garden, The Happy Garden, do do do do do do do do do-do' (repeat, until your order is ready, which in our case only took ten minutes!) Highly recommend the sesame chicken. Curry sauce comes in about a half-pint (L). Can't beat it.

They have had some big boots to follow taking over the previous owners which I had been coming to for 25 years even when they had moved I followed. the new owners are friendly and the place is clean and they have done it successfully. We had sesame prawns on toast spare ribs and chicken wings and Mongolian beef. fantastic meal will definitely stay with these. Well done.

Recently under new management, an already great Chinese takeaway is now arguably better. Fresh, light and delicious dishes.

Ordered to collect was ready in 2mins, they don't take card, so had to go to cashpoint. My meal came to £14.55, i gave him £20.55 he wasn't gonna give me any change till I told him. Then he give £5.45 change instead of £6.00. Attitude wasn't great. Singapore chow mein was over cooked, chicken grissly. Curry was ok, boiled rice over cooked. Won't be going again.
