Happy Family Chinese Takeaway in Tameside

I’ve been coming to this chippy for 28 years. Only chippy I liked in Hyde. Went recently and was disappointed with my food. I’ve heard it’s changed hands now. Don’t think I’ll be going here again

The salt and pepper chicken pieces tasted like prawns, the salt and pepper chips were hard, the bbq ribs were dry and over cooked like they have been either reheated or just cook for far too long. The plain chow mein was ok but then who can’t make that! 😂 the prawn crackers were ok too. It was poor and we definitely would not order again. Disappointed.

Disgusting. Food was inedible and the chips smelt like sweaty wet dog. £30 of food gone in the bin. Don’t waste your money.

We haven't tried the Chinese food here more than once, but it was nice. We do go here for fish and chips, though, whenever we fancy them. It's one of many in the area but our go-to. Chips and fish are always freshly cooked, hot and tasty, the value is good, and the gravy and curry sauce is very nice. Staff are welcoming and it's a very consistent place and one we've used for many years. Keep at it, guys!

Singapore chow mien (dry) and house special with cashew nuts, with fried rice. Fantastic, delivery excellent, very hot food. Thank you, you have a new customer.

Not impressed at all would never return the food is substandard and it's not very clean the staff are very friendly but that's about it as Chinese chip shops go its horrible 😖😖👎👎👎

Extremely unimpressed with the food quality that was given, the standard of food was poor, everything tasted sweet and we were unsure whether it was ok to eat. Nearly everything that we bought went in the bin. £40 wasted. Worst Chinese I've ever had.

Ok place but no better or worse than others. Good range of dishes including traditional fish and chips etc.

Please don't believe the comment about awful food from a couple of years ago - the food is perfectly palatable - when you can get it! We have been customers of Happy Family for years and they are a good friendly local business which serves good wholesome food - OK - it isn't cordon bleu or ethnic chinese, but it's good, well prepared,there is a varied menu and its priced at much the same level as it's competitors in the area. My only beef is that it shuts so early that the age old custom of stopping off for a chippy or a chinese after a night out is no longer available. The fried chicken businesses is the area still find it profitable to stay open but it appears that they have driven all the conventional late night eateries out of business!

We travel 3 miles to go here! We love the place Food is always fabulous and the staff are so friendly, can't fault the prices either. 😍

This food struggles to resemble chinese, everything seems covered in curry sauce no sweet or sour avoid at all costs.

Always had lovely food from here, never had any issues or complaints. It's the only Chinese I would recommend in the area. The salt and pepper chips are so tasty.

Happy Family has been our local takeaway for over 15 years. It hasn't changed very much and the interior has stayed how I remember it, save from a new floor. Moving on to the food, I ordered the same as I usually order - sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice and spring rolls. Once again, I was not disappointed. The chicken is always succulent and cooked perfectly, and is mixed with vegetables such as carrots and green peppers. The egg fried rice is also amazing from here, and even suffices as a snack on its own. The rice served as it should be, yellow and with plenty of pieces of scrambled egg. It makes for a great compliment to an already delicious dish. Sometimes I also order some spring rolls if I am still hungry from an already appetizing meal, or as a supper for later on during the evening. The spring rolls are also lovely and crispy and are amongst the nicest I've had. Because we've been to this Chinese for so long, they also give us a bag full of prawn crackers which sometimes make for a nice snack for the evening. I've not tried them the day after ordering them, but I assume they're still good. Happy Family is a great local takeaway, and I highly recommend it to anyone in, or within the radius of Gee Cross and Hyde.

This was my favourite Chinese in Hyde , but the last 2 times it hasn't been so good , Ordered a takeaway tonight and was so disappointed all our 4 meals were not good , delivered just warm not hot so I'm afraid they have lost our custom .

Friendly staff. We ordered the set meal for two.They didn't take long to cook it.Large portion's.Best chippy in Hyde. 👍

La comida china es genial. Muy fresco. Patatas fritas son mucho mejor que Kong que está justo al final de la carretera. Muy rarrly conseguir cálidas ups. Tiene un precio muy razonable. He vivido cerca de esta "fish and chips" toda mi vida, y aunque haya cambiado personal en ocasiones la comida siempre es buena.

Prob one of the nicer chippys in Hyde area . Not to expensive either . Always very friendly staff aswell and the shop is always clean and tidy

Lovely food and very fresh. Place is constantly busy and prices are not too bad. Been going here for the past 25 years and I've tried other takeaways but I always come back here as it's consistently good.
