Happiness Inn in Redcar and Cleveland

Food terrible and very late and cold. Wouldn’t recommend to even someone with no sense of taste. Anyone that would order must be desperate.

Food was awful tasted as if it had been warmed up in a microwave and it was very salty, chicken was dry and hard to chew. Worse chinese I have had.

Appauling meal, this was sour and re heated not cooked to order. I called immidiatly and complained was offered a replacement or different meal. So the service was good as was delivery time. First time i have complained about this Food. I think someone else is cooking not the previous chef?

Having recently moved to the area, didn't know 1 takeaway from any other.. As this restaurant is close to home, thout I would give it a try. First order, basic stuff, salt & pepper ribs, prawn cracker & beef in black bean & rice.. Ribs excellent, prawn cracker.. They are what they are.. main course, better than most takeaways! On the strength of my first purchase, tonight 5/11/23. Ordered salt & pepper ribs & special curry & rice.. Ribs 4*.. But... .. Worse Chinese curry I have had in 40+ years... All I could taste was salt & MSG.. Very little meat, lots of carrot,cabbage... Interested in other people's assessment, personaly will not be spending my money there again....

Food arrived really, really quickly. It was absolutely delicious. I asked for no pork in the special fried rice and they made sure this wasn't included. Portion sizes as always, are huge. Would definitely recommend and will order again soon.

Ordered chicken curry x2 tonight after a busy few days at work . It’s changed a lot since I was last there . Chunks of pre cooked frozen chicken thrown in a sauce . . Not very nice … sorry guys won’t be back unless it improves ,back to my regular takeaway .

Unfortunately the worst Chinese food we've had. Chinese curry was bland, tasteless. The onion was pretty much raw and beef was inedible. Sauce was watery and was more like a cheap jar that you pick up in supermarkets. I agree with other review the sauce looks the same for every other dish. The starters for the price was a joke £6 for one spring roll and one spare rib. Chips were pretty much raw and cheap. I would totally avoid this place as there are better in the Redcar area and a little cheaper. For what you pay the standard was appalling.

I've been ordering from Happiness Inn for years and never had a bad experience. Food is always good, delivered on time and with a smile.

This food is served hot, fresh, good quality ingredients and at a unbelievable cost. No one can can compare in TS10 I am a chef and struggle to find a quality take away. I have NEVER had a bad meal from here. Exceptional all the way. Xx

The worst ever Chinese takeaway I have come across the food did not only look disgusting but tasted the same, the food all look like it had been cook in the same disgusting sauce did not matter what you ordered.

Szechuan Beef and vegetable Kung Po look EXACTLY the same. One has cashew nuts and the other has tiny bits of beef. Worse Chinese takeout I’ve ever ordered. Also, Food looks so depressing I almost cried for the ingredients!

"Happiness inn" is by far the best local Chinese takeaway in Redcar. Good value for money and portions are a good size. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the flavours are excellent...10/10 👍

Ordered a family meal for 6 . The food was really poor I had chicken chow main 4 small pieces of chicken & no been sprouts at all . Husbands meal totally tasteless.

I am so grateful tham my local chinese were not available for a delivery. I chose you and have after 15 years transferred my account to you. Service, Delivery, Quality, Price are all immpecable. Your staff do you proud, and the food is restsaurant quality every delivery. I have over 30 years experience at the top end of service in catering. I would poach your staff tommorow and chefs.

Had a takeaway meal from Happiness Inn it was lovely and tasty, very hot and really enjoyed it. I had chicken chow mien and it is one the of the best I have ever tasted. As I come from a large city where there is so much choice, my recommendation for the Happiness Inn is praise indeed.

I orderd from here few times first time I orderd it was amazing best Chinese I have ever tasted and food is always hot and tastes amazing this is the only Chinese I ever order from since trying them I won't ever go else where and delivery has always been pretty fast considering and theu are soo friendly and lovely people never had a peobelm even my little one loves the food out of takaways its that he would eat without a probelm I struggle to get him to eat McDonald's at times and they do kids meals that come in these lovely little box's but I would deffo recommend to anyone to try these food is lush

Absolutely the worst takeaway I’ve ever had, bar none. Salt and pepper chips were a joke- deep fried oven chips (fried to inedible and rock hard) with a tiny bit of bland seasoning. Basically a small portion of over fried oven chips. Special fried rice had 2 king prawns, 2 bits of beef and a few scraps of chicken and pork that I actually spat out because it tasted like dog food. Curry sauce had a thick rim of oil. I’ve got a disgusting aftertaste in my mouth I can’t get rid of. Absolutely horrible, wouldn’t even feed to the dogs. Nearly the whole thing went in the bin. Only ordered from her a because Orchard was closed, never again. Will still to Orchard for a decent Chinese.

The orders always right and the food is always perfect. Never had any problems and I order once sometimes twice a week.

Great little restaurant staff are very helpful and the food is very tasty. Ordered here quite a few times and the delivery time is always fast. Highly recommend this place

eaten in here a few times and never had a bad meal however the last 2 takeaway i have had were tasteless and cold however on complaining by letter i never even got a reply needless to say i wont be using them any more.

Ordered food 5 10pm delivered at 5.45 food cold felt like we had yesterday s left over chips were limp. Rice soggy and the lemon chicken the same. Most went in the bin!!!

Absolutely ridiculous - Order wasn't put through because the girl on the phone was horrible. Food is usually okay and fast delivery usually but the girl on the phone is incapable of anything - not taking orders, no apologies, no no customer service. Absolutely ridiculous how they have been protecting the young girl on the phone who has been twisting the story - we had 3 people listening in and know facts. Would usually recommend, just think they could have done more for customer service.

Best food I have ever had would highly recommend if you wanting Chinese omg worth the money and wait been few times and every time it's amazing and tbh you dont wait that long considering but best food I ever had amazing

I get my takeaway food from here as it is lovely food, You really can not fault this food I just love this Chinese restaurant, It gets 5 stars but should have more stars, The prices are very good

It was the first time I have used this place, I was stuck for the night in Redcar, I asked Google where the nearest shops were and this came up with 2 others, I picked this one and found it to be very good, Peking ribs and a Yung Chow fried rice, both were pretty tasty 😋 I would go again next time I am in Redcar.

Love the place. Best prawn toast around. The chicken satay sticks are lovely. And the chipa/curry and rice delicious!

Good service great food always hot and ready when I arrive I usually get a mixed starter for one regardless cause it's always delicious and such good value. A highly regarded little gem this restaurant/takeaway you won't be disappointed.

First time I've been here tonight and very friendly staff and friendly driver the man inside the shop food was great will be coming back again no complaints at all

ORDERED CHICKEN CURRY FRIED RICE CHIPS AND MINI SPRING ROLLS PRAWNCRACKERS. CHICKEN CURRY HAD CUBES OF PROCESSED CHICKEN FEW FROZEN PEAS AND A HANDFUL OF MUSHROOMS SADLY LOOKED AWFUL AND TASTED PRETTY MEDICORE TO SAY THE LEAST.FRIED RICE WAS OVERCOOKED AND ALL STICKY AND TASTELESS.CHIPS 2.00 AND BAG HALF FULL SOĢGY AND UNDERCOOKED. SPRINGROLLS WERE JUST TASTELESS AND EMPTY NO FILLING PLUS THE SAUCE WAS SO ACID TASTING ONLY THING THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE WAS THE PRAWN CRACKERS 16.00 WASTED MORE FLAVOUR IN THE ALDI CURRYS THAT COST NO MORE THAN A FEW QUID .. NEVER AGAIN SHOULD BE CALLED SAD INN

Attended 19/12 for a sit in for 3 x of us. Not been for a while although had takeaways. Was very quiet in restaurant but their phone never stops for takeaways which is always a good sign. Had 'Set Meal B' which included the starters and duck pancakes - all which were lovely... our mains we picked - crispy shredded beef, lemon chicken and paid extra for mixed meat chow mein... again all were lovely/tasty .. special praise for the lemon chicken which was one of the best I have ever had... Staff very attentive but not over the top... All in all - lovely meal - would recommend.....

Am afraid I didn’t enjoy it very much. The curry was like a normal stew and the rice was awful 😔

The rice is dry the no juice hardly Nd full of vegetables nd hardly no meat!!

Not as good this time. There's was strange stringy clumps in the chow mein, very off putting. The spare rib in the mixed starter was inedible as was rock hard and way overcooked, the seaweed was all soggy.

Food was lovely but quite pricey and part of our order wasn’t delivered. Contacted the restaurant who sent this out separately; it came soon enough but we’d eaten the rest of the food in the mean time so was slightly disappointing.

Food arrived 15 mins early. Fried rice seemed different, much more pale than it used to be. Special spring rolls were just warm, curry sauce was nice. Won't be having the fried rice again.

Didn’t visit restaurant but ordered over phone. Paid by card . Order arrived and when driver left we realised we had not received the 4 cabs of drink we ordered. Rang them and girl on phone said she would send driver back with them and she can remember giving them to delivery driver. We are still waiting an hour later for drinks, have phoned again to be told driver was contacted and had said they were handed to us. Well they certainly were not. Meal average lightly battered chicken in honey sauce I don’t think had even been in the same room as the batter, non on chicken at all . Will definitely go back to usual Chinese takeaway as we left happiness inn a while ago for poor service. Still waiting by the way for drinks!!

Lovely hot food, delivered in time. Chow mein was lush. Definitely order again.

Ordered some food for my grandparents and added a note on their request with some details which included having to knock loudly as they can't always hear the door - Happiness Inn delivered their requests perfectly and waited patiently while the door was opened, they asked if my grandmother needed any additional help with the bags and helped her with the door. The delivery person was polite, friendly and more than hospitable. Food was perfect too - Will no doubt be using them again but the service recieved really warmed my heart. Thank you!

Really enjoyed it all, good portions too but only let down were the BBQ ribs which were abit tough and chewy ended up throwing them away, wouldn’t put me off ordering again though as everything else was really nice. Driver was really friendly too.

No wonder it was early was sat there all day . Freezing cold , beef looked like DOG FOOD with jelly all over it , everything was vile wouldn’t recommend going to here EVER . Only good thing about the order was the prawn crackers . If you haven’t been here before DONT chance it ever

Good food but forgot parts of order

Food was great however, forgot the curry sauce. Didn’t ring up about it as by the time it came we would’ve eaten most of the food or it would’ve went cold.

The food was lovely. A portion of noodles was missing when first delivered however, this was quickly sorted. The delivery driver was really polite. Will order again.

This was a place we called lovely it was a nice family night out buffet we recommend it to loads, good price always busy. Then they stopped doing it they said they would be starting up again but never did shame

Use this takeaway every week but tonight's meal was awful. The chicken balls were overcooked and the batter rock hard. The beef in the fried rice was tough and chewy and my shredded crispy chicken was just tough hard batter.. Very disappointed with it ended up in the bin May have to change takeaways

A very very enjoyable meal! Piping hot, fresh prawns and meats. I can't wait for the weekend to come back around so I can order again!

The lamb was overcooked and stringy, I said no onions and there were aload of onions, it didn't have the colour of a curry, did have sight taste of curry. Mushrooms and noodles were very nice

Excellent food but it isn't cheap

Disappointing. Second time this had happened with only part order received, which meant the four of us couldn't eat together. On ringing, we were told that rest of order would take twenty minutes. Unhappy at that we were told we could come and collect and strangely laughed at when we said we had paid for delivery. Following a lengthy discussion, rest of order did arrive before the twenty minutes stated, but meal did leave a bitter taste on the tongue. Not sure we'd be ordering here again.
