Have been coming here for quite a while...the whole place and atmosphere changed when there was a change in staff. The young waitress there now is very nice and pleasant... But, was a bit miffed this week when the owner came and took away the specials board whilst we were reading it, without so much as an acknowledgement that we were still reading it😕 Not going to keep many customers with that attitude.

I’m a little reticent to praise the restaurant too much, as I’m pretty sure that before too long, once the word has spread, that we’ll be unable to secure a table! However, today was our second visit for Sunday lunch and, as before, it was superb. There was a choice of meat or veggie options plus other items on the menu. We opted for roast beef, cooked to perfection. Lovely roast potatoes and lots of vegetables, accompanied by Yorkshire pudding and an extra jug of delicious gravy. The portions were very generous and the meal was piping hot. Even though there wasn’t much room left for pudding, the lemon posset could not be resisted and what a treat that was. We were told that Hanlegas has a new chef, and he/she is certainly a find. We have eaten Sunday lunch at probably all of the pubs/restaurants in the area and beyond, many three times the price and nowhere near the quality. Looking at the weekly changeable menu for evening food, we are determined to visit on a weekday evening to try it out. The dining room is light, clean and airy and decorated with taste, and the staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

We had a group booking for about 15 of us during a Tractor run in the area. We were accomodated well with the parking and received a very warm and cheerful welcome. An excellent Sunday lunch followed with all the extras all at an attractive price. All of us were well pleased and many would like to visit again.

I go to Hanlegas often, I absolutely love their steak nights. Its a lovely friendly atmosphere. The staff are always courteous, and you can have a good laugh. They had a theme night last year, it was so much fun for all the family. Hoping they do another one soon.

Absolute waste of money. Sunday roasts were all stone cold. A parsnip the size of a drinking straw, few carrots and a piece of broccoli £13 wasted!! Been going as a family for years however never again. Very bad meal 100% gone down hill BIG TIME! Staff were nice , food crap.

Very nice atmosphere and lovely staff. The whitebait as a starter was really nice, not covered in batter. For my main course I had the Gamon steak, which was very nice and nicely presented. My wife ordered the roast beef. Very disappointing . The beef was ok, but there were no where nearly enough spuds and veg. A bit of a joke really! We did raise this with the boss. She was very nice and concurred that other customers had said the same . This was however not reflected in the bill ,where we were charged full price. Never mind….it’s only money!!

We had a Sunday lunch here - First of all the coke was flat, when we notified the nice waitress she came over with replacements which we appreciated. Then we noticed whilst tucking into the greens that there was a dead, fried daddy long legs in it! Again I asked for them to be replaced and there was no sorry, just an “ok”. After we’d finished our meals which apart from the greens were lovely, the waitress came back to clear the table she proceeded to spill gravy all on my handbag and in it as well plus all on my clothes ! and again I had no apology but instead she blamed my friends three year old child walking infront of her. She then on a separate time when the three year old sat on a table free next to our table and she was like any three year old playing with the cutlery, proceeded to tell her off which I don’t believe it was her place to do so. There was no attempt of apology or a refund or an offer to dry clean my bag that is now spoilt. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced something quite like it.

Good basic fare but plenty of it. A lovely Sunday roast is available. Great breakfasts. A large spacious, very clean modern barn. Well laid out socially distanced tables for these Covid times. During lockdown periods, takeaways are available Fri & Sat evenings.

Great home cooked food at a reasonable price with the breakfast being superb. Booking is essential and I think it is only open weekends.

Visited when just passing on a motorcycle ride with a friend. As it was Sunday main course lunches were on the menu (at other times of year they do breakfasts that we'll go back for). I think they are closed Jan/Feb. On site with a caravan park and whilst it may not be the most stylish of places that doesn't matter. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout despite being very busy. The food was very good value (£9/10 for all the Sunday lunch choices) and of a very good standard. I can certainly recommend the steak and ale pie and chips (which came with a remarkable and well cooked mix of vegetables - I lost count!) as well as a jug of very nice gravy; my friend had a threesome of different types of sausage on a bed of mash also with lots of gravy and a very large side dish with peas. We were both totally stuffed as it was copious as well as tasty. I can heartily recommend this place for its value, its staff and its food. Definitely going back.

What a beautiful ambience, then there is the excellent home cooked food. The 3 of us enjoyed a different main course and cleared our plates. David is a dedicated owner, chef and exceptional host. Good wines too and comfortable clean surroundings. Dawn has a lovely welcoming personality.

Utterly disappointing takeaway, threw it all away. Chicken and bamboo shoots was watery and chicken bland and chewy. Husband also rejected vegetable noodles as they had a strange taste and smell. Very first and last time ordering from this place and ever going online to give negative review.
