Fantastic little place opposite the Streetlife museum. Great coffee, good sausage rolls, and incredible little Amaretti biscuits (the best I've ever had) Extremely good value for money and friendly service. Highly recommended

We found this sweet place opposite the Street Life museum after our excellent visit there. It looked a genuine little business, the sort we like to support. The price of the toasties is excellent and my husband declared his delicious, despite looking a bit pale. I had a sausage roll which was extremely good. We both had cookies and loved them: so rich and delicious! They will linger long in the memory! A couple of comments, though. The tea was disappointingly served as a teabag dunked in a tiny little cup. With us both choosing tea, especially as we chose the meal deal where we could have had more expensive coffee instead, I had expected a tea pot and felt this was a bit mean. With none offered, I found the one available sugar bowl on some shelving inside, along with a roll of kitchen paper to use instead of serviettes. This cafe is in a brilliant location, serving genuine home-made food at great prices. Just get some teapots (and proper paper napkins!) for next time, please 😊.

A real hidden gem. You need to visit if you are in or near old town. Close to the museums. Excellent coffee and the cookies are great! Good menu and friendly helpful staff.

I placed and paid for an order here and was given a collection time today. When I arrived on time, the place was closed and locked up. There was another customer waiting too. I had driven 20 minutes to get there. Totally unacceptable! Don’t take the orders if you’re not going to be professional enough to honour them!

The Hangout Artisan Bakehouse is situated directly opposite the Streetlife Museum in the old town and, after a couple of hours wandering around a couple of museums, it was a welcome retreat. It’s a relatively small cafe with three or four tables inside and ditto on the outside. We only had coffees and tea, which were very good and as I felt that the tea was served in a much too small cup, a request for a jug of hot water was met with no problem. Although the artisan sausage rolls and cakes looked most tempting, a previous large breakfast made us restrict ourself to a couple of cookies, which were very good indeed. Good produce and excellent service.

We called in during a Sunday morning explore of the old town area and "Bankside Gallery". Intrigued by the garlic and chili sausage rolls, we tried these and had cup of tea to go with it. It was brought to our table outside very quickly, and the sausage rolls are amazing. I'm sure the rest of the menu is equally amazing, so it witt certainly merit another visit. A real gem !

We visited the Hang Out Artisan Bakehouse in Hull whilst staying in the city for a short break. We had been visiting some of the museums in ‘museum quarter’ and was looking for an independent coffee shop in which to get a drink. The Hang Out Artisan Bakehouse is located just at the entrance/exit to the museum quarter neighbourhood in the High Street. There are a few seats outside and at the time of our visit, these were all taken, fortunately there were more inside and we took our seats. We ordered two latte coffees and noticing the rather interesting cookies available here we ordered two chocolate orange cookies which were very nice. The interior of the bakehouse is very tastefully decorated and we were particularly attracted to the collection of books on the wall art display.

We came twice either side of a museum visit today. Food was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Disappointing to notice the tables appeared to still have the crumbs from our previous visit. In fact all the inside tables had not been cleaned since their last customer. It wasn't busy at all so really no excuse. Pity. 5 stars otherwise.

I had their choco chip cookie couldn't believe how much chocolate they had used as some places skimp but really nice husband had pulled pork sausage roll and he said meat was tasty and tender. Enjoyed coffee reasonably priced for under a tenner so dont let the word artisan mean dearer prices. Situ in the museum quart it was nice to sit outside.

Simple stuff, done well. Pushed the boat out and had a double espresso and croissant. Croissant was fresh and buttery, coffee was excellent and for good measure it's sourced from River City coffee just a mile away across the city. Should mention the staff were friendly too!

I love coming in here and staring at (read:eating) the wonderful baked goods or watching as the steaming, freshly baked bread gets sliced for sandwiches. Ana is not only a fantastic baker but also a warm, witty presence in these quarters. The coffee is easily the best in the neighbourhood and their vegan range is truly spectacular. The staff are not only trained in excellent baking but have also brightened my day more than once. Thank you for bringing such a lovely café here!

Served by friendly staff, 7 days a week! Plenty of options for us vegans too, all at competitive prices. Fast becoming one of our new favourites!
