Hancock's American Kitchen & Bar in Maidstone

I had the salmon main course, which was very good. The sauce was too sweet, though, and the vegetables were dried out. They did not have mashed potatoes, which would have been a good addition to this dish, so I got French fries. I think this dish needs sauteed vegetables, not oven roasted, and lots more of them for a $32 dinner. This is important because all the appetizers were priced high, and they do not serve any bread before the dinner. I found the prices to be much higher than I saw online (e.g., that me I had mashed potatoes), but I stayed because I was hungry. I will try them again, but for lunch next time. Because it was Saturday, tables were limited. I chose to sit at the back of the dining room but next time I would choose the bar, since the table was by the back door.

We live in VT and occasionally travel JUST for this food. It is that good. The salmon is fantastic always. I'm not sure what other people are comparing it to but when we have come the quality of service has always been consistent. We feel like we can rely on a good experience here and we know if we were let down for any reason that is not the norm. The chef here is fantastic and the service is very friendly and attentive. 5 stars from us now and always. Thank you for bringing your food, recipes, and service to the public.

service was SO BAD nobody came to check on us and the food took 40mins to come. The portions are so ass too for such an expensive meal, there was literally four tiny pieces of steak and the whole plate was jam packed with overly salted stale fries. DO NOT RECOMMEND they literally took 15mins to give us a refill on the beer.

If you’re in the area you should probably check this place out. Amazing cocktails, delicious food, and really great service. Bobby was awesome. Highly recommend the elote pizza, the salmon, and the Brie burger!

First time visiting in over a year and they have upped their game in every way (not that they weren't excellent before) staff was super knowledgeable about drinks and food. They were also very accommodating of allergy concerns

What a wonderful dining experience. The mussels with sausage and tomato rags and kale were excellent. Make sure to add the pasta. The sauce was so good I used the al dente pasta and baguette to mop up every drop.

Aside from the bland steak, the service is really lacking. A girl spilled splashes of the steak sauce on my pants. Aside from given a wet towel, no one checked on me again. I was told by the waiter, "at least it is delicious" – Delicious what? Delicious pants! Walking out with greasy streaks on my "delicious pants".

I go regularly in summer on Saturday nights, like the small plates and generous drinks (a Manhattan; 14 but was generous). Olives: roasted tomato soup; shrimp and grits; GREAT shrimp, garlicy. Thought the grits were under seasoned, expect butter, cheese, salt, a combination. None of these. Small hiccup to me.

Great place in Pittsfield. Sat at the bar, had the cheese board and mushroom flat bread. Both were excellent. Tracy, at the bar, is friendly and efficient. Good selection of draft and bottled beers as well as cocktails. Will definitely be going back.

Have been coming on and off for many years. It's a nice spot for a date, couples night out, and the service is usually quite good. But, the food deliciousness factor has its ups and downs, but it's always good, just not always great. Note to chef, please please add some cheesiness factor to the Mac and cheese!! The Mac is sorely missing its ooey gooey cheesey part of the package.

Food was top notch, the paté en croute is not to be missed, white asparagus soup was a star and the caprhina was perfect. Would recommend to friends, possibly not the most kid friendly spot but great for adult outings of all types. A real gem.

Stopped in on our way home in search of a good steak. Unfortunately, we did not realize that the steak we saw online was a Valentine's day special and no longer available the following night. So we opted for a cheese & charcuterie appetizer, steak frites, and pork tenderloin for our mains. The cheese selection was very nice accompanied by out-of-this-world garlic jam. There was a $5 additional charge to add the charcuterie - a helping of speck. We would have appreciated even a $10 add-on with more salumi variations. The frites & tenderloin while very good, were not exciting in flavor profile. The Burnt Old Fashioned was excellent as was an interesting red varietal (never had it and the name escapes me). Portions were great as well as the staff & surroundings.

The cocktails were great! Cute cozy modern little bar. Highly recommend the fried burrata, the steak frites (holy cow that garlic butter) and the flourless chocolate cake! All of it was super good and very friendly service!

The experience at District Kitchen & Bar was fantastic! The service was some of the best I've ever had, and everyone was really nice. Caitlin, Lindsey, Tracy, and Bobby were awesome servers and made us feel very welcome. The food was also delicious, although the duck confit poutine was slightly too salty, although it was alright since my personal preference leans salty anyways. They make everything fresh and the flavor combinations were excellent. They had a great menu. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Wes tumbled upon this restaurant. It has a cozy romantic atmosphere. We were definitely under dressed. The food was good. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a salad. My friends ordered ordered the charcuterie board and some soup. They both really enjoyed the food. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we were having actual meals.

I would say this place is just ok. It was our first time here and I was dissapointed after all the " stars" and word of mouth. My steak was luke warm when I received it and the taste was just ok. Hard to really enjoy it when it's almost cold. Dessert was Creme Brule and it was again...average. pumpkin cheese cake was honestly..terrible. pasta with chicken was great and flavorful. I love the interior and service was great. I guess I was looking for an elevated experience when you pay close to 150$ ( with drinks) , so ...it's a three for me

Not from the area ,we planned on coming here before we left home. They have a good selection of both canned and tap IPA beer. I chose the apple picker cocktail, my husband sampled a couple of beers. The food selection is small and we chose the vegetable flatbread and cod sandwich. Both were good and I would most definitely recommend flatbread , it was so good. Our server Caitlin was very pleasant and efficient coming over several times through our meal.

The food was delicious. It's a small establishment but cute and quaint. The hostess was pleasant. My steak was scrumptious, and mash potatoes were creamy. The cauliflower was a delicious appetizer. The blood orange margarita is a must. A little secret, the fries were oh so good, lol. Please take time to visit. It does get crowded, so make reservations.

The worst customer service I’ve ever encountered! They messed up my food and then act like it’s a huge inconvenience to them to remake it. I wanted to call in my order and pick it up but the manager would only remake it if I physically showed him the receipt first then they would make it while I wait. Very unprofessional

Food is good but for what you get at this price is not. $20 Burger we used to pay $12 for. Underwhelming mac& cheese -- $17 and as a cook of 10 years, clearly boxed elbow noodles. Prices are rising, yes but come on. Burger is good but a $20 Burger? 18$ for boxed,99cent elbows and cheap panko? Literally 5 Guys and Stouffers for a fraction of the price tops this. Mango Habanero Chicken Sandwich! Enough said! 😋

We sat at the bar for dinner. The mango habanero chicken sandwich was delicious. It was a massive piece of tender, breaded chicken with a little mango and a slight kick, but not enough to qualify as intense. We also had the Korean BBQ chicken flatbread, flavorful and delicious. The risotto was excellent as well. Great service from both the bartenders and waitstaff. Place was clean, busy, but had a good atmosphere. It has the appearance of a bar, but it's fine for families with younger kids as well.. The menu selection isn't huge, that's probably the only criticism I could offer, but all the food is excellent. Proces are cheap for the service and food quality...

Horrible experience!!! It’s just not right to make my family wait for more than an hour and a quarter to serve food. After waiting all this time, my steak and fries came so cold and bad quality. Same for my wife’s chicken. I’m not sure if they forgot it or the food was already used. I asked for the manager twice, but he never came. I waited for him on the entrance and explained the situation, he’s like I didn’t know! What a disrespectful way to treat people:(

The service was wonderful along with the food.! I am rating it at three out of five for the fact of it is very crowded space felt very cramped didn’t have much room to even get into the chair at our table, everyone was on top of each other. You would have to be if you wanted to see each other.! The lighting was horrible we couldn’t even read the menu without using our phones for light.! Which then make you feel awkward with a bright light in a dark restaurant.. I say order take out because the food was delicious..!

Hands down (so far), this is the best restaurant in the Berkshires. I say so far because I have only been going to restaurants occasionally for more than a year and this is the first one if I didn't know where this restaurant was located, based on the ambience, the quality of the food and service, I would assume I was in a trendy Chelsea location in Manhattan. My wife and I shared a delicious bowl of their split pea soup with smoked ham. It was the perfect starter on this chilly night. I had the Osso Buco, my wife had the salmon again (she came here over the summer with a friend and said we had to go here) and my daughter had the steak frites. We loved the food, loved the vibe and will be back the next time we're in Pittsfield.

Absolutely wonderful. Best meal I’ve had in ages and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. The Public salad is worth another drive from NYC. So is the gin drink with beet juice, simple syrup, lemon & rosemary. I think it was called Head Over Heels. The pomegranate cheesecake was worth every calorie. Service was perfect. Highly recommend.

We had apple cider-based cocktails which were good. My girlfriend had the public salad and I had the butternut squash soup and the Korean chicken flatbread. The salad was good, the soup was very creamy and sublime. The flatbread dough had the perfect crispness without charring. The lightly spicy plum-garlic salt was sweet and wonderfully savory while the chicken was a crispy complement. All-in-all, a pleasing experience. The food came out quickly, service was friendly and prompt. I prefer the profiteroles dessert when it has ice cream but for Halloween they had a pumpkin-cream filling which most who like pumpkin would have enjoyed. We’ll certainly be back.

Slow when I went in... Seated myself at bar. Small plate, chicken liver is a great appetizer. Ended on steak frittas, with creamed brussel sprouts. Perfectly cooked steak, and brussel sprouts were excellent. Fries were good, crunchy, whatever you ask for. Drinks is why I put it at 5 stars, Quentin is a mixologist, they have great cocktails, but please point them in the right direction!!! Great staff, be patient.

As someone who lives in the Berkshires, I can confidently say that this is the best restaurant you can find here. They can be busy, but that is only a testament to the quality of their food.

Really enjoyable food. Service was quick. We had burrata appetizer and huge salad to start, both were solid and the honey cider dressing on the salad was fantastic. Then the burger and the mushroom risotto with chicken and a side of the roasted zucchini and squash with parmesan. The risotto was cooked perfectly with a really nice mushroom flavor and 3-4 different types of mushrooms in it. The zucchini and squash side left the veggies still firm (which is my preference) and the parmesan added a nice saltiness to it. Really good beer selection. By the glass wine list just ok in my opinion but they had some interesting bottle options. Will definitely go back.

Great food! We had the grilled peach and goat cheese flatbread with arugula. A perfect blend of flavors. We really liked the friendly, chill, competent staff, and the comfortable atmosphere. I'll be back!

The food was amazing! I ordered the crab sandwich that came with fries and I would definitely get that again. The food deserves 5 stars but I was not too impressed with the service. My husband and I went in around 4:30pm for an early dinner and before being seated, the hostess told us that we had to leave by 6pm so they could have the table ready for the 6pm reservations. I thought that was very rude.

We walked in on a Friday night 6/11 and was walking to the two seats open at the bar to have a drink and eat and was stopped by the hostess and was asked if we were “just having drinks, or eating?” and was told “we have a table available” but the bar was booked even tho the seats were available. Seemed odd. Never heard of booking bar seats, every bar I’ve been to is first come first served even post-pandemic.

A delightful find in Pittsfield. Quentin made my visit a pleasure, with great recommendations. First, the cocktail. I had the Secret Knowledge, and the secret really surprised. The spicy drink is well blended, and has a kick that's hard to describe, but also hard to dislike. The jalapeño burger was tasty, but the truffle fries almost stole the show. Absolutely terrific, and a perfect pair. Might have to make the 3 hour drive back to sample their other fare.

What a great time. Our reservation had hiccups, but we are still in the shadow of 2020,,,,pay attention to the reservation system,,, they accommodated us with reason and respect. Food was excellent. All tastes were deliberate on the plate, and each course did NOT disappoint. Ended up at the bar, Bartender puts on a great show, has excellent food Recommendations. Great place that never fails to impress! I went a few nights ago for the first time in months due to Covid. I brought my girlfriend who had never been there before and we both had a wonderful experience. The menu is concise but every item offered looks delicious so making a decision can be difficult. You really can't go wrong! Good atmosphere, friendly staff - this is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Berkshires.

Waiter was very pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere, with a friendly vibe. Great choices of craft beers and drinks. Good choices of apps, flatbreads and sandwiches. Main menu had four items which is a little light but understandable these days. Ordered burgers and pulled pork sandwiches, which were excellent.

The place has great decor, to my taste. Kate was fantastic, helping us make proper choices and making sure we had everything from liver mousse to apple cake, she was phenomenal. You can't go wrong coming here for drinks and dinner.

The lighting was so dark a person with 20/20 vision was having a hard time reading the menu. My medium well burger was red in the center, the bun was hard and cut up the roof of my mouth. Every other waiter waited on us instead of our waiter, he was off who knows where. Other than that the pricing wasn't bad and the fries were good carnival fries.

We were in town for the weekend celebrating my husband’s 30th birthday. We wanted to eat somewhere nice but have a toddler so we loved that we could get take out. Everything was delicious! One of the things we ordered was the mac and cheese and the breadcrumb topping was kept in its own container so it didn’t get soggy and it was such a nice touch!

I enjoyed this place! I have celiac disease and the waitress was awesome about asking questions. She even let me know the chips are fried with other things after I asked for the nachos, so I was able to change my order to a burger with a gluten free bun. The outdoor seating was really lovely and they were very careful with guests being distant.

Was staying at the Holiday Inn across the street so scooted on over. Because Covid they have covered outdoor seating as well as distanced indoor seating; I chose outdoor, which was nice as it was a nice night, but breezy. Had the public salad, very fresh and good sized. Also had the braised chicken nachos, also a nice size and very good, and finished with mini cannoli and fig. Everything was excellent. Staff was professional and very nice. Food service was on the slow side, but they do warn up front that will be the case since everything is scratch made. Would happily return.
