The food was not cooked properly and the price is ridiculous and I never suggest that place to you lot I went today and They charged me 50p for sauce and my daughter has funny stomach now because of the half cooked food. Also there was hair on my food too and the price is flipping ridc

Poor quality chips and threw vinegar all over the pie and not chips. Very poor

Fish and chips here are definitely better cooked and tastier than elsewhere. Chips are fantastic and batter on fish crispy and delicious.

Really disappointed with this place.... I've been ordering from here quite regularly, lately.... however today was a major let down! The chips were too fresh, also portions are usually very good, but today, it's beyond ridiculous. £7.20, for what doesn't seem worth it (see pics, keys next to portion to give a idea of size??!?! Shocking..... I will be giving this place a wide birth.

Brought cod fish, donner kebab meat and chips Everything was okay apart from the chips were disgusting dry not edible at all. Called the establishment spoke to a person called Sunny. He said we will replace them. The issue is why don't you serve the proper food that your customers pay for. Then there would not be any complaints.

I am giving a 5 star for their service because I phoned to ask if they were halal, and they were honest enough to say THEY ARE NOT HALAL. This is a positive as many organisations will lie about this to make money but they were honest. So for anyone seeking halal, it is not, for everyone else, enjoy the whatever you eat.

Cross contaminated food for a person with allergies, offered to replaced 1 item only out if 2 that had been affected and put it onto contaminated paper, then moved the contaminated food back into heated cabinet to serve to someone else. If they have a food safety certificate it needs to be cancelled.

Friendly, local, good food and great portions. Were happy to cook a large piece of fish for us even though they were due to close. Great service.

Upon using Uber Eats, I encountered a disappointing situation. Upon delivery, certain items were missing from my order. After reaching out to inquire about the missing food, the response I received was that the omitted items would be provided with my next order. This was particularly frustrating since the missing items were meant for my child, who had to endure an extra 20-minute wait for replacement food. To add to my dissatisfaction, I was instructed to contact Uber Eats for a refund, despite the mistake originating from the restaurant's end. As a long-term patron of this establishment for nearly a decade, I am reconsidering my loyalty unless there have been changes in management. Despite the restaurant's commendable food quality, the deficiency in accountability and customer service is inexcusable. This is especially concerning when it involves the well-being of my child. Additionally, I encountered an error in my order where I received fish bites and nuggets costing £6.00 instead of the fish bites and chips that I had initially ordered. I kindly request that the management address this matter promptly. No wounder just found out its under new management well that says it all.

Had fish from here yesterday about 4pm fish must have been cooked sometime ago batter was hard and no moisture in the fish (dry)

Nowhere near what it used to be, poor quality but not cheap - waited over 15mins for chips- yes there was a big order but they didn't seem too rushed to sort the building queue. Then the food was average at best maybe visit elsewhere on my next trip

Went there yesterday after very long time. It is friday evening and busy as usual. Before me there are approx 7 people. But because of the fact there are 8 people behind the counter it goes smooth. When it was my turn to order, suddenly all the people disappeared and left with 3 (shop staff), girl started to serve me and it is alright. There is another guy who came out of back room and started to serve people while advertising himself on instagram. He is kind of cool musician. In this point i am in the shop already 10-15 minutes. I ordered FRESH naan bread, with mixed meat, sauce and salat, and meat in the box. My FRESH naan wasn't so fresh and looked like the one you can buy in Asda, amount of sauce was almost non existing and freshly made food was luke warm. Forgetting to mention I was there almost 30 minutes and all the other customers were gone! I understand there is a new owner, but still you need to keep standards. Would like big thank you, for disgusting food!

This used to be a really good chip shop but I think it’s changed hands. The shop and staff look grubby and the food was way below par The batter on the fish was thick and very greasy and the chips were on the cold side Will never use the place again

I was recommended this place by a friend. Initially upon walking in I saw about 4 customers and about 10 lads all behind the counter. I didn’t know if I was in a chip shop or Bhangra gig. However this may have been due to take away orders? Anyhow I must say the food is AMAZING! Best fresh fish + chips I have had in a long time. Clean piping hot chips served with a really good quality cod fish, silky white and chunky. Keep up the good work 👍🏽

Fish batter was hard like it had been sitting there for ages, but the kebab in a naan is nice as the naan is made to order

We started using this chippy recently again and its absolutely fantastic. The mini fish and chips was lovely and fresh with a crispy batter, chips was soft but firm and delicious . Mushy peas great 👍 big thumbs up 👍 This will definitely be our regular chippy from now on Thanks guys

Please don't order from Uber from Hamstead Fish Bar, they charge for large portions but when you have it delivered they are shameful portions. I am very very very disappointed with Hamstead Fish Bar. 😔😔

Very polite service, but they cannot handle the pressure. Too many customers equals uncooked rushed food. Mainly a Friday when it's packed. Wasn't impressed and very reluctant to go back. 2 stars because of the customer service.

The worst nan and doner meat I had today. No one in shop and the meat was not ready. Took 20 mins but nan made and got cold. This was then heated in microwave. Then the salad bar was not stocked and had to wait even longer. Has this place changed hands. I wonder what happens on Friday when this is the service one gets on wed Shame on you all

Excellent tasty veggie chips on a Friday

The battered chips are lovely especially when freshly cooked. The coated chicken is spicy (which I like) but I know others have found it a bit over spiced but that's down to taste. I've not eaten anything else but when I have bought other things such as cod fish no complaints. The salad also always appears to be fresh but this maybe because of the time of day I have been there. I have read some reviews about the service but so far not had an issue but you can only review your current experiences. Who knows the next couple of times may not be okay !

Very friendly staff and nice food

I am disappointed to say this is our local chip shop. The fish has dry on several occasions unless it is fried fresh. When asked to freshly fry the fish, an employee promised us the fish had just been cooked, but upon eating it we found that was not the case. Truly astounded that this is the level of service to expect from a well respected fish bar. It is my personal belief that it is grossly unethical to lie to your customers in order to make a sale and furthermore to serve something as inedible as this.

Food is good here there's parking bays outside this shop but it's a first come first serve basis when ordering lots pay attention as they do make mistakes it is a cash only shop not suitable for wheelchairs as there's a step.

Good crispy fresh fish and chips. Would give 5 stars but the fish pieces are fairly thin seems they must be splitting 1 fish into 2.

Excellent fish & Chip Shop have been buying chips here since the 80s, this shop used to win awards for it's chips, all the food is still very good, only ever been a few occasions when the chips haven't been so good, there isn't much choice around closing time but that's to be expected.

Was served by new employee, rude service and found a hair in battered fish. Unacceptable considering previous standards

Good chippy and decent food. Only issue is depending on who you get the portion of chips seem to inconsistent on the large option. Please dont let that put you off from visiting.

Great little take out. Take care with the opening hours as they are very specific. I think it's 12-14 and 17-23 but best to check with them!
