Very attentive staff, nice experience. Yes some rooms are dated, but it that a major deal? Very clean, attention to detail. Staff were a credit, Welcoming and had excellence in customer service. Worked as a team & brought atmosphere. I manage a large hospitality residence, so I appreciated their service. Last minute Wowcher break and was great value. Appreciate these people Best Western Hotels ... as they are few & far between in the current market! Deserves at least a 4 star rating on Google, what do people want for the money they pay? The Jumeirah in Dubai? 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

We paid a bit more than usual as it was a busy weekend. The rooms were a bit tired and some equipment not working in the room. lobby areas very nice and central to where we were visiting

If you like 60's décor and paper thin walls then this is the hotel for you. The lobby is really nice and modern but when you walk through the doors to the halls it's like you've gone back in time. Room was very basic and really not clean & the loo roll holder was about to fall off the wall. Spent all night listening to the neighbouring room watching BBC news (I think we know after 3 hours we're getting a new PM...) so sleep was a struggle. Breakfast was average no better than a weatherspoons. Drinks were pricey, my wallet felt like it was in central London. All interactions with staff were great but I wouldn't return anytime soon. On check out nobody asked how our night was so we could express our concerns

The fir grove is worse than poor. the chef, Rob, is extremely unprofessional and makes people in the work force feel uncomfortable and this is NOT something a member of staff should go through and experience. After multiple complaints still nothing has been done, be careful if you’re staying there !

We use this hotel when visiting family and always have a lovely time. The staff are lovely and helpful and the breakfast is very good.Thank you.

The worst restraunt I have been to "firstly you have to pay to park there "plus the the prices for drinks are shocking, and the food i really wouldn't feed to my dog.

Hotel looked great on arrival, especially in reception Area and restaurant. Slow service at reception... Felt ignored when i arrived at 8pm.... there was no hello sir we will be with you shortly instead I was ignored for 6 minutes! Once I was finally dealt with I headed to my room, as soon as I walked into the corridor of my room it was like stepping back in time! Old wood and smelt funky. Got into my Room ( NO7 ) on the ground floor and it looked very old and tired. Room is in need of a revamp or even knock the block down and start again! Wall paper coming off the walls, window doesn't close properly and they have put rubber stripes in to fill the gap but is not actually doing anything, so all night all I heard was people coming and going. Bed wasn't bad but looks old and has seen better days. All night all I could hear was the sound of what I believe to be the central heating system making noises ( taping and banging ) Overall it was very disappointing and will not be stopping again!!!

Staff very very nice and helpful, nothing to much trouble for them to help, really felt welcome as soon as I walked in,breakfast really boss ,can't ask for more, thank you to all the staff for the smiles each mornings, keep up the excellent work team 😀 😊 rooms 10/10 very clean 👍

Paid for executive room. If ours was executive I would hate to see standard. Paid for late check out at 2. From w 10.45 3 knocks from house keeping so we left

The hotel itself is a small little gem in the outskirts of town, but it was the staff who made my stay special, in particular, Amy, the lovely blonde lady in Reception. My room had an issue with the shower not being able to turn on the hot water and Amy came up to the room with me upon request and moved me personally. Very extra step by the staff member that was appreciated. The room itself was very nicely decorated, very clean and the shower was new, clean and although not luxurious, it was very functional. All in all, I would recommend a stay.

Executive room was great, clean & has all that you require for your stay. Staff absolutely fantastic, a credit to you. Location nice & quiet. The courtyard is a sun trap. Recommend for anyone travelling for work/leisure.

Came for afternoon tea after finding it on Groupon. Highly recommend. Food was tasty, cakes were nice and the scones came with a large portion of cream and jam.

I booked executive double bed room and I was given a small standard room (room 51). I asked the reception but they started an argument saying it is bigger than executive room, and clearly refused to give me the executive room and also told me that room 51 is superior room. Her name is Emma and she said she is shift manager. When i askes for complaint procedures, she asked me to give my number so that some one can call me in coming days. When i insisted, she said she can give me an email address but then she refused to give any email address. I also asked for any formal complaint forms and she refused to do so. She only gave a phone number to speak to and no solution is provided. Its the tiniest room i have ever seen and not the one shown in company website or the one i was shown when i was booking. Staff on the reception is very deceptive. Based on this experience i will make sure to avoid Best Western hotels unless the respond to my complaint, which i already did online, and give a solution. For now i can say. Avoid avoid avoid

The price was OK! The rooms were not cleaned on arrival, towels and sheets weren't changed during my 2 night stay. Staff and food was good!

Wouldn’t recommend staying here. We booked through trivago. On arrival the receptionist said she couldn’t find our booking so had to do the booking again. Room was dated and poor customer service: the next morning the receptionist charged me for the stay again so I’ve now paid twice for a 1 night stay.

Horrible experience.. children banging doors. When i shouted to tell them as i had work day after. Manager came to my room to address me!!. Wont be staying again.. booked my room at 2pm and wasnt ready till 6pm. Lucky i gave them a star

Room was very smelly and very hot stains all over the carpet also stains on the bed there was also hairs found in the beds there was dirty cups left there was a piece of the side of the bath missing the bed frame was covered in dust I wouldn't recommend to stay here nore would I say it's 4 star it's more like a 1 or 2 very disappointed

I would warn against staying at this hotel until it is clear they have cleaned up their act. Do not let the fancy lobby area fool you, this is just a facade. Upon arriving at our room, we found the pillowcases were dirty and the toilet had clearly not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The room itself was tired and needs refreshing, however this wouldn't have been an issue at all if the room was clean - just get the basics right, please?

Popped in for Sunday afternoon tea on a Groupon offer. First visit to the Warrington Fir Grove Hotel. Nice place. Good ambiance. Friendly staff. Lovely afternoon tea. Great pintbof Guinness. An wonderful place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Glad this has reopened. Was there for a function after a funeral. Food was excellent and staff very attentive.

Stayed there for one night and the hotel, service and food was great.

Not what we hoped for or expected, we stayed at a best western on Weymouth which was fantastic and expected the same from the chain... we didn't get it!!

We had afternoon tea here last week and really enjoyed it especially the second pot of tea which was very welcome after all the lovely sandwiches and cakes.

Pleasant afternoon, afternoon tea much smaller than previous and had to go and ask for more tea, although an hour later when different staff member was on she was very attentive to next table, she came and asked if we would like more tea.

Have to give a star to get started, but it is -5 avoid this awful place, we booked a ground floor room with walk in shower specifically for my husband's poor mobility. When we arrived at the horrible reception area we were told the room was not available , it had been given away. We had received email confirmation but they very rudely said well that wasn't us . FAULTY Towers very aappropriate we had booked to stay because we were moving house. Luckily we were able to book the Park Royal , now that is most definitely 5 star . 🌟 Fir Grove never .

Firgrove Reception staff were very friendly and attentive and the room was amazing! The quality of the food was excellent with a variety of very good wines (Excellent Barolo) & liquors - in particular the black Sambucas with the coffee beans! The service was at a perfect pace and the staff were experienced and happy to suggest alternatives with the food and wines when necessary which completed the perfect dining and the ambience warm and friendly - definately a hotel to return to! (Stay was on 9th/20th November 2021).

It works , nothing fancy but pleasant staff

The venue itself is very well presented and clean, staff were friendly. The room wasn't clean. There was dust, collection of dust on the floor along the edges and in corners, the bathroom floor had mold and little bugs near the toilet, the remote was filthy & sticky, dark stains on the walls, the curtains stunk and had stains & my socks from the carpet were filthy. The room was also very cold even witj the radiator on.

Had a fantastic night for our under 13s Girls Rugby presentation. Food was good and Manuel and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place

Our daughter had her wedding here on the 25th September 2021. We cannot praise the staff enough for all their help. Gillian the wedding co-ordinator was amazing through all the planning and being there with us all day of the wedding guiding is through everything. Manuel head of the catering staff went above and beyond to make sure it all went smoothly with his staff. The bar staff were brilliant and even joined in with us dancing, we highly recommend the hotel. We have made good friends here.x

On arrival the TV wasnt working. There was some suggestion of changing rooms. However there was no alternative with a working TV and was was actually fixed. at post 11 pm while I was aslepep there was banging on my door by 2 people, one of whom was involved in my earlier problem with the TV. They wanted to know who I was and why I was there as they hadnt put the details on their system. Probably for the same reason when I returned from breakfast I was unable to gain entry to my room. On the plus side the menu although limited wasgoos and the food very enjoyable. Would not recommend or return

The heating was set to 'lava point' so we didn't sleep even though we had fans brought up to our room. The TV didn't work. The gorgeous four poster bed was lovely and comfy but creaked every time you moved your big toe! Sooooooo noisy! The hot water was indeed HOT. Again set to lava point. The sink was cracked. Other than we had a fantastic night 🙄😂

From the moment we entered the hotel we were met with lovely staff- the room was lovely - during our meal we met Emma … Emma was one of the nicest woman I’ve ever met and helped us out with extra details of the surrounding area (nightlife) and was quite frankly a lovely person. We will 100% be returning! Ps food is out of this world

We had an 80th birthday party here the buffet was lovely the table was nicely decorated and the staff couldn't have been nicer everything we asked for was no trouble would recommend it .

Very poor our room was awful shower and bath disgusting black mold and bathroom flooded because shower door not sealed properly had to mop up with bath towels. Stairs were filthy and upstairs smelt fusty

Asked for an East facing bed. Slept like a brick for the first time away. Free WiFi. Great selection of beer in the bar. Rooms are perfect great size for ones or twos, would deffo stay again. Ty

Room clearly hadn't been cleaned properly as found previous occupiers underwear on the floor and one of our mugs hadn't been changed. Bed was comfortable but divan base was filthy and sheet wasn't even big enough to be able to tuck it in either side. Hardly any room to get out of bed as about 5 inches between wall and bed.towels were lovely and white and fluffy and breakfast was good.

This hotel went above and beyond for us during our stay. Due to booking.com overbooking the hotel, we were moved to a sister hotel about a half hours drive away- the hotel paid for taxis and didn’t charge us for this night. Due to the booking error, we were given a few free drinks and breakfast added onto our stay. The way staff dealt with the situation was swiftly handled and professional- we were taken care of in all aspects. The room was lovely, and the breakfast was okay. More importantly, the staff were such genuine and friendly people who made our stay excellent. We can’t wait to stay again next year!

My reservation was cancelled 2 weeks before our check-in date due to them overselling by almost 20 rooms. Central reservations where unaware of the cancellation and suggested I contact the hotel directly. Having left my contact details with Reception (aswell as several unacknowledged emails), I’m still waiting on a call from the manager to explain how a room I’ve had reserved for 6 months was already overbooked. The booking was made for a specific date due to an event taking place in the area. We have been unable to rebook elsewhere as all other hotels in the area are fully booked. The lack of communication, professionalism and empathy from this hotel is disgusting. I would not recommend this hotel, or it’s service, to anyone.

The smallest room I have ever stayed in! The bed was comfortable and the room was well decorated, apart from a ceiling lightshade that took up most of the room, it felt as though I was lying beneath an overpowering alien spaceship, lol. Service was good but I think a few more staff needed. Not much in food selection, but what we had was good quality.

Recently changed ownership and bedrooms are a bit tired and dated but clean and comfortable. Public areas are nice although limited menu in restaurant at present. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was excellent and all hot and freshly cooked. Plenty of parking and rooms used for wedding were ideal for a party of 75. All buffet food good especially lemon chicken and steak. Cheesecake to die for. Room for disco and dance ideal and nicely decorated. Bar in the room also handy. Just needs new owner to invest in bedrooms and would get 5 stars.

Quite a nice room, small, but nicely decorated (although the lampshade was way too big for the room!). Our biggest complaint would be cleanliness, the bathroom had definitely not been cleaned, which is worrying during a pandemic! We took our own wipes in and gave it a clean, there was old soap scum still around the shower and dirty around the sink plughole. The mirrors had smudgy handprints on them, and there was fairly thick dust in places. Shame, as it was a lovely room otherwise.

Great stop over location when traveling from Scotland to London. We made the journey with a 5 and 2 year old - the loved the hotel, and we were grateful for a very comfortable night's sleep.

Grim, A\C broken, 30 degrees plus all night with two small children and a little window was on safety closer, would have walked out but we drove 5 hours and kids were exhausted. (Ironic as they could not sleep duero the heat)Made it into top two worst hotels stays and we have stayed in a lot of hotels. In fairness, the downstairs looks like it was nice for functions and the breakfast also nice...but kinda not worth mentioning when the room was so terrible. (Didn't take a photo of the empty bottle of booze and...paw patrol toys in one of the beds....you literally could not make it up).

Complained to reception to duty manager about noise during the night from fellow guests. Was told others had complained. Was offered a coffee to make up for it and was laughed at as I left. Guests were in the courtyard smoking until the early hours right outside the window, banging doors and all going in and out of each other's rooms. Complained to the manager by email. No response 1 week later. Food was basic paid £14 for what looked like a Chicago Town Pizza which was £3.75 in Asda. Would not stay again and they do not hold up to the Best Western standards.

Not bad. The room was a bit tired i.e. wallpaper dated and torn in places and the carpet was fraying. There was no remote control for the TV even after asking for a replacement from reception who informed me they did not have any, not that this mattered much as there was no signal to watch the TV anyway. The food was very average at quite expensive prices. ( £15 for lasagna) said it came with garlic bread which was actually a plain naan bread. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was decent.

In dire need of a refit. Rooms very dated. Bed was two singles zipped together with a massive gap between them. Breakfast greasy. TV not working across the hotel. Shower was terrible and the only way to get out of it was to stand on the toilet. Staff were trying but let down by shoddy management. There are far better places nearby. Very disappointing for the money we spent!

Please don't waste your money! We stayed last night, having travelled from north Wales booked via Groupon, upgraded to the executive as the advertised pictures looked stunning! THAT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE ROOM WE HAD! The room was small, VERY basic, couldn't leave the curtains open as it looked directly into someone else's room, the TV was faulty, the shower spat more water at the walls than anything else. Definitely didn't fit the description! Or price Then!!! Then when we went to eat my meal arrived still frozen in the middle! I told the staff who took it away them returned it 5 minuets later clear just warmed in the microwave as the salad that accompanied it was now hot too!!! All around a disappointing stay and one that we will not be repeating or recommending on to others.

We stayed here for 1 night. Lovely hotel lovely staff problem with our TV in our room we was moved straight away to another room. Dinner was lovely all fresh and hot which makes a change when you get to a hotel. Breakfast was a full continental style fry up was blooming delicious. The staff went above and beyond to help out especially the little things like learning my sons name and having a laugh with him. Makes your stay more enjoyable even enjoyed a small walk along the canal. Definitely I would visit again. Thank you fir grove

Not a bad place to stay but went as 2 couples, 1 was in a bigger room than the other and paid more, when we got to the room tbey had mixed them up so wrong couple had the bigger room. Easy to sort but shouldnt have happened also only 1 set if towels in 1 of the rooms and no milk or sugar in either room.

Hotel with no name Well we booked a groupon deal (2 rooms for 4 adults - myself and my husband and the parents - one of whom has dementia) at “The Fir Grove hotel, Warrington” 2 nights bed and breakfast and evening meal in the upgraded Executive rooms. Arrived at 3.30pm (check in from 3pm).No name on hotel or hotel car park. Had to ask a neighbour who laughed and stated it been shut down then reopened and shut again and he wondered now what was happening to it. Well as we walked in there were people queuing who were all being told that their rooms were not ready. It seemed very chaotic. However as we reached the desk we were informed that as we had booked Executive rooms that’s ours were ready. Asked for the WiFi password but this would not work. Checked again and were informed it was definitely the right password. No luck. Went to the room. 1 was ready. 1 was not made up. I.e still had dirty towels on floor, beds unmade etc. Back to reception. Apologies given. We will do your room. So we waited in the outside seating area. At 5.30pm we had still not heard anything so I went back to reception. Oh yes your room is ready. They had forgotten to tell us. At last. In to the room with key and a QR code which at least gave us the right passcode for WiFi. Then, here comes the big one. TV would not work. No channels. Went to my parents room next door, exactly the same - no tv reception. Tried to ring but no idea of phone number to reception. No details anywhere. Walk back to main reception. They came but could not get anything on the tv so they called the Manager. He arrived and could not solve the problem. “no can’t do anything and can’t swap rooms as we are fill” He states will give you some free drinks as compensation. So for the 2 night stay we had no tv. My dad who just sits and watches tv was wandering around like a lost soul. He didn’t know what to do with himself. Had to put a chair against the door to stop him wandering out as he had nothing to distract him. We spoke to the “flippant”manager the following day about missing songs of praise for my father. He did not seem in the least bit bothered and never even mentioned that anyone had tried again with the tv. What a let down. We do not possess the latest phones to stream anything so we’re left looking at 4 walls. What a shambles. Wasted money and wasted break. When we had a drink we were compensated with this being free. (£17 for 4 people for 2 nights I.e total compensation per person £4.25 for each 2 night stay) Main review of the hotel itself. Reception areas very plush. Executive rooms very dated. Cobwebs around. Poor fitting yellow nets. On the plus side beds were large and comfortable with good bedding. Comfy pillows and small but clean and updated bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities but these were not replaced for day 2 and also the 2 allocated bath towels were not replaced. In fact room wasn’t checked again. Food: all meals taken in reception. The restaurant was closed. Breakfast was beautiful although toast was not given as standard and you had to ask for this. Evening meal - poor choices unless you like curry, pasta or pizza. No meat or fish dishes whatsoever or chips or potatoes. Chicken tikka masala very bland and not eatable. Ended up having sandwiches for second day. Staff and service: staff were very friendly and helpful and apologetic with things that were going wrong. Service at reception and in the reception dining area were excellent. The young girl who had only just started was especially eager and helpful. Manager seemed a right dipstick with his too tight shirt and scruffy look. Such a shame that the manager sorting the tv could have improved our stay from a 2 * to a 4* rating. Shame on you.

Absolute shocking, currently on a residential training with work and i have to advise you to stay away. The rooms light doesnt work (reported yesterday), when having a shower ive ended up standing in bathwater (drainage issue), none of the food served at dinner advises of whats inside so you've no idea what is being served and/or ingredients used and if you want anything decent for breakfast then book elsewhere. 1 staff member running around looking after 30+ guests is clearly not enough as food is being served cold and some colleagues going hungry. I normally dont write reviews but this hotel deserves 1 star for its performance. I cant wait to go home!!!!!

Discusting food, rooms dirty , staff useless

Staff very rude. Asked for more tea and we were told we already had one round of tea!! How unprofessional. We got attitude from staff from the moment we got in. Is it because we are people of colour. I will not be returning here. Will spend my money elsewhere . Dissatisfied customer!!
