Hideous barmaid looks about 70 but dresses and acts like she's 17. She can't even pour a drink properly. Music is from about 50 years ago. Used to like it before new management took over, It used to be a nice family pub, but they've ruined it. Dire experience. Do not recommend.

After finding out that the venue had a new catering company (Hayes Kitchen) taking over the meals, I thought I would give it a go.... we went for a meal on Sunday afternoon and I can honestly say that the food and service were spot on.. the prices are very respectable for the quality and portion size that we received...we will definitely be going back again!!!!!! 10 out of 10 from us!!!

Shocking booked a table for 2pm and at 3.10 get told there is still a 30 min wait and even then it will only be if there is any food left. The woman behind the bar was rude and the yorkshire blonde ale tasted funny. The toilets were dirty, and we walked out! Don't waste your time or money the place is a dump!

This used to be my preferred local pub under the old management. It was chilled, welcoming and family oriented. Under new management it is loud, tacky, brash, and they don't know how to pour a drink.

Gone right downhill, use to be alright back in the day but now it's just a miserable unhygienic dump!

Reminds me of Shameless, lovely pub if you have no teeth. Kicked us out because we were stood up even though most of the other groups were standing. Glad to leave in the end

We watched the sport on telly here over the course of an evening whilst enjoying the low-priced drinks. Solid local pub, really big car park too.

The Old Halfway House has had a makeover by new management. They are keen to make a success of it and seem to have good ideas. The decor is pleasant, they do food, tea and coffee as well as alcohol, are kid and dog friendly and have a big car park. There's a function room, too. Definitely worth a visit and more regular patronage if you live in the area. I have no connection with the pub or those who work there, by the way.

This pub has not long ago been taken over from the landlord and lady from the swan in trading. We were meeting family and friends from Newcastle and were very impressed to say the least.Seven adults and one child descended tea time Friday and it was quite busy but we were served promptly.I loved the relaxed atmosphere and spacious surroundings very clean and tables cleared quickly. Our meals were presented nicely and tasted very nice and reasonably priced. Looking forward to our next visit.
