We felt very sorry for the two young servers who were completely overwhelmed by those attending a Sunday night concert. It almost appeared that the pub management had been surprised by the number of customers! I used the Young’s app as I thought this would be easiest - slow service and the food was poor when it arrived. Overcooked fish with undercooked batter….this is now the second time the food has been poor, and I’m afraid I cannot recommend this pub to eat. Very disappointing.

Was staying with my boyfriend in Putney and came here three times because we loved it so much! Food was absolutely amazing, (we got fish & chips and the mac and cheese croquettes - the sauce for these was phenomenal). The first time we went my soda was served in a TINY glass with no re-fill (even though it came out of a soda-gun) but the second time it was served in a larger glass and was enough to drink through dinner and was much more enjoyable so I recommend they keep serving in the larger glass! This pub have a beautiful inside bar with cozy seating, and a really nice outside with heat lamps. They also have lots of activities going on, including a pub quiz on Sunday and a live music venue! This will definitely be a regular spot when staying in Putney!

Such a shame. We had visited this pub before and the atmosphere was really pleasant and friendly and the food was great. Visited again today and found it to be absolutely dreadful. The service was terribly slow and the bar staff very rude. No-one appeared to be in charge and there weren't enough staff. In the middle of being served, the bartender walked off and started to do something else. Another member of the staff picked the drink up that had been poured for me and gave it to someone else on the other side of the bar. There were 4 of us eating - one meal was ready around 20 minutes before the rest so it was very disjointed. The food was very mediocre and not worth the price paid. After about 9pm the lights dimmed and the music being played in the bar was turned up really high (wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't Justin Timberlake and One Direction). Lots of loud drinkers spilling beer onto the floor - all in all not a very pleasant atmosphere.

Had wanted to visit the Half Moon for years, it being one of the finest and most prolific live music venues with loads of history behind it, After a very pleasant stroll down Putney Embankment it was a natural stopping off point for a lunchtime refreshment, we had planned to return in the evening for a Dr Feelgood Gig but the sunny day and excellent Youngs Ale put pay to that idea, the pictures and hanging guitars of past visiting artistes just adds to the atmosphere and charm. Didn't try the food but the menu looked appetising and not unreasonable for the area. Sells itself as a Gastropub.

I stopped by here for a quick evening meal, and managed to find something vegetarian amongst a very meaty (and fishy!) menu. I opted for something called an "open tart" which I imagined to be a small quiche-like thing. As it turned out, there was no egg (so good for vegans) but the whole thing can't have weighed more than 3 ounces; a 6 x 3 inch wafer biscuit with a teaspoonful of pesto, 3 tiny broccoli florets, a handful of edamame beans (described as broad beans) and covered with a one inch thick thatch of green salad that looked luminous and tasted of very little. It did nothing to satisfy my hunger and I had to eat again later! Not the best £9 I've ever spent. It was my first experience of food here, and I don't think I'll be going back. Putney is alive with bars, cafes and restaurants and the Half Moon needs to watch out for the competition.

We've been going to the Half Moon for a couple of years and seen some great bands. Whilst the bands are still great, the venue has really gone down hill. Last night, waited 10 minutes to get served at the main bar, only to find the bitter we had chosen had run out. After getting served, waited another 10 mins to put our coats in the cloakroom. During this time, several staff walked past, and said 'be back in a minute', but they never came back. Finally entered the Music room, really great band. The bar in the Music room ran out of bitter during the evening, so had to suffer lager. There was water pouring out of the gents toilets, when we told the bar staff, they said they know. One of the best gigs we've seen, there but let down buy the poor venue.

There are not that many live music venues as good as this, nice bar and a very good separate 'music' room. Very well run with a great list of forthcoming bands. But, their drinks prices are stupidly expensive, make your money on tickets, that's fine for the entertainment but don't take advantage of the people that come.

We popped in to the Half Moon on Saturday lunch time. I ordered the spring vegetable tart (the only veggie main option) and my boyfriend went for fish and chips. When the tart arrived I thought there had been a mistake as it looked like a small plate of salad and I couldn't see even a hint of pastry. Lifting up the leaves revealed a small square of incredibly thick pastry with no filling...it was just a slab of pastry with a watercress salad on top - very weird. What's more, the pastry was about a centimeter and a half thick and completely overcooked - I couldn't even get my fork in to it - and the salad had two very small broccoli florets and a few broadbeans. It's very rare for me to send things back, but this was £12.50 (with no sides) and the pastry was inedible so I felt I had to. They refunded me for the 'tart' with no question, but also no apology. Would go again for a drink, but definitely not for food.

Last Wednesday, 13th April, our record label, Trapeze hosted an event at the Half Moon. Bands and crew all ate before hand, and I think half our audience did too! Service was quick and all the staff, from bar, to kitchen, to sound engineer and door staff were all a credit to their pub. Unlike some venues across London, the Half Moon is extremely well run and clean! Could not find fault with any aspect of our evening.Would recommend, and further still want to go back!

Attended the Half Moon pub in Putney for a great rock gig - but to call itself a gastro pub is a joke - Booked tables at 6pm for 20 of us, 8 in or with the band needed to eat well before the gig - ordered the Sunday lunch, roast beef.....after some delay, the waiter said roast beef was off, but there was roast pork.... Another hour passed, then another 20 minutes. My husband, the drummer, nearly expiring from hunger, went across the road with roadie to get takeaway for dressing room (now far to close to playing to be enjoyed); bass player gave up; rest of us asked and asked - finally after more than 90 minutes, gone 7.30, plates of dried up burnt offerings arrived - burnt Yorkshire pudding, dried up pork bell (NOT roast pork!), chicken pie with lethal bone in it, tasteless mac and cheese - a disaster - staff like headless chickens, chef??? Don't go to eat, just for the music!

Like the service in the Half Moon, my review is over a week late!Service incredibly slow. Food Terrible. I ordered a main course size goats cheese salad. It arrived with a very small scattering of goats cheese and mainly consisted of rocket. I complained about the price and asked for more cheese. The salad was taken away (which was not necessary, as cheese could have been brought out separately) and it was returned 20 minutes later - with less cheese and a huge pile of unappetizing rocket. My partner's food had gone cold with the wait. I didn't feel comfortable eating the returned salad, as was worried why it has taken 20 minutes, in an uncrowded restaurant. Only 2 other tables eating food. We waited for another approx 30 minutes for our bill! Would not eat here again. A shame as have had good food from here in the past and the pub interior is really nice.

We have been a few times before to what we thought was a lovely pub to eat in before the gig we were attending later on. We sat down and realised it was now self service ie get up and order at the bar! Disappointing. Then we bought a bottle of prosecco which was presented in a dirty shower type bag of ice to keep cold and plastic dirty glasses?! We asked at the bar for some actual glass glasses but they said they didn't have any so we asked them to at least clean them! Dinner- we went as 2 couples and ordered per couple at the same time. The 2 guys got their food first so they started eating we girls assumed ours will follow........10 mins later I went and asked the bar staff where the rest of our food is the guy just shrugged and said it will proberly be along soon?!!! Another 10 mins our husbands had finished their meal and my friends dinner arrived ....... 10 mins later mine came out!!!! At this point the gig was about to start. The care free staff did in the end apologise and offer free drinks which was fine But busy or not this really is not acceptable it used to be a nice pub to eat in won't go back to eat. Shame as the food was actually quite nice.

A disappointing visit to a pub that has changed since we last visited 2 years ago. The bar staff were struggling just taking drink orders and the food was either not available or not what was stated on the menu. Simply this is an overpriced pub lacking in ambience. Such a shame as it was once really good value.

I've been eating in restaurants/gastro pubs since before I can remember and quite frankly... this was my worst experience ever. The food (if that what it was) was poorly served, was tasteless, lukewarm and grossly over-priced. My friend who quite rightly complained about the 'food' on his plate didn't even receive an apology from the bar staff. This pub is not fit to serve food and I'm so glad that I won't be visiting again. Terrible!

Arrived an hour and a half before a live music gig on a Sunday evening, anticipating a leisurely meal and a pint. After all, the Half Moon's own website says, "Seeing as the pub is open all day every day it would be a shame if the kitchen wasn’t – so it is and offers everything from bar snacks to an evening feast and all points in between. So whether you’re popping by for lunch or rounding out the night with us we’ve got you covered."The reality: "We've been busy today, unless you've pre-ordered we can't serve you food". Me: You mean there isn't a single meal in the kitchen that hasn't already been allocated to someone? (I was on my own & am not a fussy eater). "No."At half-time in the gig I returned to the bar for another pint. Do you have any dry-roasted peanuts? "We've sold out of bar snacks."The gig (Stanley Dee) was fabulous, and I will probably be back, but next time I'll definitely eat before I come.

Went there for live music. Friend wanted to eat elsewhere prior to attending; I persuaded him to eat here, after all it is a 'Gastro' pub. I ordered pork belly, with vegetables, price £14.95. Quite expensive? Wel it is a'Gastro' pub so it must be quality. It arrived. Essentially a bare plate; small thin square of pork in the middle. Asked waiter if vegetables will follow shortly. No, came the reply, they're on my plate! The vegetables indeed were there. Consisting of 3x baby parsnips 2inch in length...that was my veg!!! They were also barely lukewarm. The pork approx 3x3 inches, 1/2 inch thick, not hot; dry as though it had been sitting under heat lamp for an age. Very poor quality food and barely sufficient to satisfy a toddler. I would have been insulted by this in any old pub at half that price. Charging that and calling it Gastro is frankly unprofessional, dishonest and inexcusable. Never again will I or my friends eat there again.

We always enjoy music @ The Half Moon, so lunch & music seemed like a good idea for Valentines day. Bar staff and music were great as always.Sadly the food/service was not.Our table was dirty and the empty plates were left there for a long time. We then moved tables to get a better view of the band... and that table was also dirty with empty dishes on which remained for while... then removed, but the table was not cleaned before our food came..Our roast had a small jar of mint sauce placed right in the middle of the gravy!!! not very nice!. We moved our plates away from us on the table and they sat there for quite a while. Not a great Valentines lunch...considering it wasn't that busy..

Had many top visits for gigs, easy 5/5. Nice shabby chic refit; many of the music pics showing the history have gone. The place changed to a smaller pub chain from a big brewery. They have a late night disco on fri nights on recent visits. Summer Bbq. Drinks not cheap but about what you'd expect. Gigs fab value and staff have always been good here. Normally get served pretty quick too!

We were visiting to see a show in the Pub's Events Room, so it seemed ideal to book a table for a meal before the show. Looking at the Menus ( online) this seemed just what we wanted. and the online booking was so easy and quick. On Arrival we were shown to our table which had a named reserved label. The menus are not extensive , but are varied which implies they do a few meals very well and to order. The service was excellent, prompt and friendly. it appeared the staff really enjoyed their work and ensured everything was okay with our meals. The meals were well proportioned and at the right temperature. I would differently order the same meals again, after I had tried a few of the others.

Dined at the half moon before seeing a gig there last night - the food was awful. I ordered the beef and ale stew and my friend ordered a cheese burger, we also had some green sides. The pub looked nice, and the prices were gastro pub prices, so we were looking forward to the meal. EVERYTHING was probably 3X more salty than it needed to be. My beef and ale stew was meant to be served with crusty bread (that's what it said on the board) - it came out with a single piece of toast, cut into two triangles. Never mind, I love toast. But the stew broth came coated with half a cm film of fat, and was so salty that I had to stop eating it to prevent a heart attack. The beef itself had not really been stewed, and the beef was clearly tiny pieces of off-cuts from meat from another dish - small, fatty, crunchy, and hard as kibbles. The cheese burger was atrocious - the buns were shiny, vacuous, and flat - looked like they were sourced from ASDA - which is fine if you were at home, but not to pay £14 for. The chips that came with it were also budget supermarket frozen fries. The whole meal was quite below average. A good looking steak knife plunged into a burger does not make it a tasty burger. The green sprout tops on the side were nice - but again, I couldn't eat it all because of the salt levels. Luckily I stopped, because I woke up this morning with fairly swollen and aching joints as it is. Our bill came to £50 for two people - I simply didn't realise that Putney was so posh that £50 wouldn't be enough to buy a half decent meal. I'll make sure to pick up some mcdonalds before heading to Putney for any shows in the future. Score of 2, because the service was at least helpful and friendly (and I didn't find any metal objects in my food). Food score = zero. Summary = total waste of £50.

Had a lovely brunch today with my daughter. I had the veggie rowers with delicious Cacklebean eggs, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, spinach , halloumi and sourdough toast. Tomatoes were very sweet and eggs super delicious too. My daughter’s new turkish was excellent too, served with coffee and matcha latte.
