Had a fantastic evening with friends. I was expecting a typical pub but was surprised by the decor, all very modern and clean. The toilet was immaculate! Very relaxing with comfy sofas and a log burner. Clara was a first class waitress very accommodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, she explained the Rose wine to us and recommended a delicious one. Fish and chips very good. I’ll definitely be returning.

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing Sunday lunch dining experience yesterday. When we arrived we were informed that the only roast left was roast beef so I then opted for the fish pie which was also sold out. My partners order of. roast beef arrived and she asked for horseradish to which we were informed that there was no horseradish left, despite being advertised with horse radish on the menu meaning we didn’t get what we ordered. The beef was chewy and fatty, making half the beef inedible. I ordered a starter, side and a main. The side came out first, followed by the main before the starter and not with my partners main. I sent back the main so I could have my starter first albeit after my side dish which was peculiar when my main came back it was cold. Furthermore upon sitting down we requested two drinks and a water. The water never came and two drinks came 10 minutes apart. There was no waiter around to request anything from no one seemed to be around. So we had to go to the bar to order more of our drinks which was not ideal. Awful dining experience and will not be rushing back.

Visited for dinner and drinks recently. Had drinks on the comfy sofas then a table nearby for food. Same server throughout called Clara, who despite being busy was really attentive and we were well looked after. Fish and chips were great!

I love the Boathouse, cosy inside and fantastic outside on spring warm afternoons…food is good specially the fish and chips, absolutely gorgeous in fact the best in Putney and I’ve tried a few!!!…service was excellent…Clara served our table, she was friendly and very professional…thank you for making our night out enjoyable🧡

Despite having a booking there was no sign of anybody to show us to a table. Went to top floor, told then to wait until they had first served some punters at the bar! Picked our own table, then told the one we had chosen was not waitress service. Having queued up to discover the lack of table service decided to stay where we were. Order 2 prawn cocktails, no salt & pepper and not side plate for shells. My wife’s hake should have had smashed potatoes not available!

Nice café in a good location, but we haven't experienced such bad service in a long time. Employees didn't feel responsible for the guests at all. You were neither greeted nor communicated that someone would be coming to take your order. We were irritated and initially thought self-service might be the order of the day. When I asked, a young lady came to the table at some point. In between, no one from the service was in the restaurant, as both were obviously outside, even though there were no guests there.

Just wow! Words can’t describe how incredible my experience was this last Tuesday. Good food & great pints, enough said. I’m happy I packed a spare pair of shocks because mine were well and truly blown off! I would like to add all made possible by the handsome chap named Joe!

Had a fantastic experience at the boathouse this past Sunday! The roast chicken and side of pigs in blankets were absolutely delicious! The service from Rebecca and the team was fab given that there were over 30 of us to serve at the same time. The Jubel on tap and the aesthetics of the pub were absolutely spot on too! Really enjoyed myself and shall return Thanks to the team and the chefs for such a great Sunday lunch

Below average and not worth the money. Nice interior and location but very unimpressive food and service. Had Sunday roasts which were all room temperature or cold with rock hard inedible roast potato’s. Had very bland soup to start which no amount of seasoning could help. Service was poor, our waitress suggested we have our starters and mains at the same time which when you’re having an expensive (£200 for 4 people) lunch you want it to be a slow enjoyable experience. Our waitress was also dressed inappropriately in joggers and a crop top. Wouldn’t recommend

There were (literally) almost no staff on a busy busy Saturday lunch period. Never seen anything quite like it. The few staff there should have walked out because were so over-worked but kept things going as best they could.

Brilliant pub, came here a couple days ago and had the beef roast, which was absolutely phenomenal. Our waitress, Theodora was a breath of fresh air, she recommended for us to try the Zinfandel wine, and now I'm hooked. Thank you boathouse for the great night.

We booked a table for drinks downstairs in the bar- it was match day at Fulham. There was one lady serving at the bar all on her own. It was an impossible job. People queuing out of the door. She maintained a friendly disposition at all times. This was a management issue - not hers. Part of our drinks order (6 people) was for a coffee. I had to go back to the bar 3 times to chase for it. It took around 50-60 minutes to arrive. I have used the Boathouse a few times and the lack of service downstairs is something I've now come to expect. It's not a good experience.

A long standing favourite of mine in Putney, I booked with 2 friends at 5.30pm yesterday. Service was fairly slow (but it did seem very short-staffed so those serving did their best) so it was after 6pm before we ordered our food. We chose from the very good value set menu - but some 10 minutes after ordering we were told that several items were not available. This particularly affected one of our party who had chosen the salad; she was offered a replacement salad which was not very inspiring. We had all chosen the same dessert which was not available and to be fair were then able to choose from the main menu. But to have so many items unavailable early in the evening was disappointing.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Boathouse with my family and I must say the exceptional service provided by Theodora when delivering our food and drinks, she was clearly knowledgeable about the menu and offered insightful recommendations particularly the Prunotto Barolo wine which was delightful. We will most definitely be coming again!

Entered the pub and two waitresses were behind the bar, either of them looked at us. I approached one of them , she was working on a laptop. Asked if we could have lunch, she said yes you can sit anywhere. She looked bored and grumpy. We went upstairs and waited for someone for some time as we needed a high chair for my daughter. No one showed up so we endedup lookong for highchair and getting one ourselves. I then went downstairs and asked to order and I was told no table service. Fine, I ordered a 3 course lunch off a la carte and spent over £100. Starters arrived and once we finished eating the staff seems to had forgotten we were even there. We waited and could see our main courses under the pass , no one seemed to be in the kitchen either. Eventually we ended up taking the plates from under the pass and basically serve ourselves. The waitress showed up at that point and looked very pissed off. I even apologise to her and said we didn't want our meat to get hard under the pass. She said "OK that's fine and sorry " and she left. She didn't clear the starters plates from our table. We stack them up on the side. Our mains finished and a guy showed up and finally cleaned the table. Desserts were served and we left. No one say bye , the bar was empty. The guy then called us while we were outside to tell us we forgot to pay for 1 coca cola which we paid immediately. Only 2 tables were occupied at that time so I guess not very busy. There wasn't any manager on site , no one cared or showed the bare minimum hospitality. Not a smile not a thank you or how was your meal. The service was appalling and I wasn't even given a check. Im sure ive been charged tips for a dreadful experience. Your 2 waitresses are bordeline rude and have no experience in the job. For an empty pub to bill £100 on a dead January Wednesday afternoon should be a good thing considering the crisis in the industry but it felt like your staff had enough of being there and care about the job

Roast beef cut so thick a hack saw wouldn't have been able to cut it...... tougher than leather. Cold gravy. Yorkshire pudding just to big for show. One carrot. Boiled not roast potatoes. Waited an age for some budget horseradish sauce. Yet cost a fortune......

Really disappointing service; the waiter was chewing gum the whole time which is really unprofessional. Starters and mains came out at the same time. No one ever came to clear the table after we’d finished or offered us dessert / coffee.

Service can be a little slow bit staff are lovely, food is good and it's a nice atmosphere.

Spent the weekend at the boathouse, met this fella with a quite mighty moustache named Harry, he was a great chat and he also invited me to his lion safari in South Africa. Wish you the best and keep that stash growing

Service was really, really slow. We went on a quiet day with hardly anyone else eating and our four meals took ages to be served. We had to ask twice for one dessert to be served.

We had a lovely Christmas Day Lunch at The Boathouse., Our waiter Harry couldn't have done more to make sure we enjoyed the day, very welcoming and cheerful. The Christmas dinner was great, tasty moist Turkey, crispy vegetables, delicious greens and the largest Yorkshire Pudding I've ever seen, beautiful gravy, but far too generous a serve for me. 1 star off because my beetroot and cheese starter didn't quite reach the standard of the other food and wine served. Thank you for making our Christmas so enjoyable. We had a seat in the window where we could see the children enjoying their Christmas gifts and people enjoying the riverside views.

Absolutely a hidden gem of Putney!! Tucked away behind the local spoons this is one of my new favourite pubs in the area! Wonderful choice of beers and tasty food. Can especially recommend the Sirloin which went down well with a glass of the La Colonia Malbec ;) Massive thank you to Joe and Dan for serving us and hope to see you soon!!

The food was ordinary and tasteless. I got the answer that most of the drinks I asked about were out of stock. The place is nice but food and drinks are limited. I hope they change their chef.

Thank you for asking how my visit to The Boathouse was... Honestly...? Probably my worst visit of eating-out this year. Our table was booked for 1.15pm and although the restaurant upstairs was not at all busy, which was a little strange as unsurprisingly for the weekend before Christmas, Putney High Street was heaving - it did take a while to be seated. We ordered our first round of drinks, plus some tap water and our Sunday lunches (a special event for my daughter's birthday) - two of the lunches were the 28day matured beef option. When the water arrived, we had to ask for clean glasses as the ones served were disgraceful. Then, when the meals arrived, they weren't overly warm, especially the Yorkshires but the presentation was so lacking. Worst of all the beef, which should've been wonderfully 'melt in the mouth' was impossible to cut, and once that had been accomplished, was actually inedible; chewy, sinewy, thoroughly disappointing. However, having ordered our four meals, because they didn't appear terribly quickly (not really a problem as they were being freshly prepared - weren't they) we ordered a second round of drinks. We waited for them to arrive and asked again where they were. After another wait, we repeated our request for our second round of drinks - and eventually they arrived a just shy of 30minutes after they were first ordered. By this time, we were losing heart that this might be a special lunch and just accepted that it might be better to finish-up and go. My daughter went to use the ladies toilet only to find there was no toilet paper in any of the cubicles - and had to come and ask her mother for some tissues. I hope now you understand quite why this was one of the worst experiences of lunchtime dining I've encountered in recent times. My daughter lives in Putney so we visit her often, however we won't be visiting The Boathouse again.

Booked a birthday lunch for our daughter based on the reviews on The Boathouse own website. Our Sunday lunch was extremely disappointing, the roast beef was chewy and inedible, roast potatoes overcooked. We ordered our meal and drinks and had to request a further two times for our drinks, the restaurant was not busy yet the service was tardy and slow. Very disappointing for what should have been a lovely birthday treat.

Very impressed with the staff, service and quality of food. The location is very scenic by the river side and a must visit for all.

Had such a wonderful experience at the boathouse in Putney. I booked the top floor for my daughter’s christening and the views are incredible. The set up was fantastic and the staff were so helpful and so attentive. It really made the whole process seamless. I would highly recommend as a event space.

Great location, friendly staff, food faux pas quickly corrected and bill adjusted accordingly.

The place is wonderful, but our experience felt unlucky. We made an automated reservation, and unfortunately, they seated us at a table tucked away from view. After ordering drinks, a staff member informed us that due to a private party upstairs, the kitchen would be closing soon, so we needed to choose our meals immediately. If the kitchen capacity is so limited, wouldn’t it be better to close the pub entirely during such events? The camembert was served inside the bread and was nearly hard, which was disappointing. While there was a very kind lady at the bar who made an effort, the overall experience didn’t feel justified. Is it really so challenging to manage a private party upstairs while serving basic dishes like a hamburger with melted camembert downstairs?"

Good quality food, well cooked. Great beer and service. Replaced my pint of Young’s special with a pint of Young’s original when I suspected it may be off.

I love this venue. So perfectly located on the riverside. Big and spacious. Lots of natural light! Also, I just want to say a massive thank you to the team. Honestly, Joe was so great, super polite, helpful & friendly. Couldn’t have asked for better customer service from him! We run regular events at this venue and we are so happy with this partnership!

Matisse was amazing! If anyone ever visits, ask her for one of her brilliant cocktails which she always makes with a smile! Will be back soon.

Visited early afternoon when we were the only eating customers. Hence slightly disappointing atmosphere. Service was a little distracted by drinking customers. However the chef seemed attentive and produced an excellent late lunch for us.

Absolutely delighted with my pub lunch experience! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, the kind of spot that feels like a home away from home. Jacob, our server, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The food was spot-on! I went with the classic fish and chips, and it was crispy perfection, served with a side of chunky, golden fries, mushy peas and some delicious curry sauce. The zesty tartar sauce was genuinely the best I’ve ever had. You could tell everything was freshly made with quality ingredients. All in all, this was exactly the kind of pub lunch you hope for but rarely get. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a warm, friendly atmosphere and truly delicious food!

Lovely venue overlooking Putney Brige and The Thames.

I recently enjoyed a delightful pub lunch at The Boathouse in Putney. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, complemented by a lovely view of the river. I started with the pork sausage roll, which were perfectly crunchy and seasoned. I also tried the fish and chips, deliciously crispy and bursting with flavor. Our server, Jacob, was not only attentive and friendly but also tall, with a striking beard that added to his charm. His recommendations made our meal even more enjoyable. Overall, The Boathouse is a fantastic spot for a casual lunch, offering great snacks and a pleasant setting. I can’t wait to return!

But the real highlight of the night was the exceptional service from Jacob. From the moment we arrived, Jacob made sure we felt welcome and looked after. He was incredibly attentive, always making sure our glasses were topped up and our needs were met without us ever having to ask. Jacob knew the menu inside and out and even recommended a couple of dishes that ended up being our favorites. It's rare to find someone so genuinely dedicated to providing top-notch service, and Jacob truly went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. If you're visiting The Boathouse, make sure to ask for Jacob—you won't be disappointed! Highly recommend this place and looking forward to coming back soon.

Went for dinner and drinks with some old friends last week and was pleasantly surprised. The manager on shift Jacob was extremely helpful with everything. He readily tended to our allergies and his food and drink recommendations helped us feel at ease and well looked after. Would return just off the strength of this young man’s service!

I went to this lovely pub on Friday and the coziness was unbelievable, the service that was given to me by Joel(I think that is what he told me😅) was outstanding everything was just amazing he made sure that me and my finance were all good on drinks and food, just a lovely chap in all. One of my favourite pubs in SW London. If you have't been yet, it is truly one of Putney's hidden gems. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great atmosphere with a wonderful view. Rooftop terrace has a nice ambience and having attended a wedding ceremony there I can highly commend the level of service and attention to detail that the staff showed. Will definitely be returning for yet another pint. Thanks!

Jake is godsend. He helped carry my disabled daughter up three flights of stairs so that she could see the beautiful view of the river Thames. Great knowledge on drinks recommended the lovely Rioja. This pub is a hidden gem and jake is its shining star. Will definitely be coming back
