Superb food, second time ordering and just as good as last time! All very tasty and must be some of the best Indian food in Edinburgh.

Staff is very friendly and the food and drinks are excellent!

Lovely wee restaurant with a good atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious food. The only thing I would say is that the food was quite slow to come out. Even if the starters like poppadoms came out quicker, you wouldn’t feel like you were waiting so long. That said, if you’re not in a rush I would definitely recommend!

Fantastic food with a perfect balance of everything. Spicy but not burning hot, the lamb as it should be, sauces/chutneys for poppadum well chosen between sweet, sour-ish and spicy. Paneer on point cooked. Warm and welcoming service. We went quite early and the restaurant was a bit cold, but as we were away from the door, not too bad

On a 3 day visit to Edinburgh, we were craving Indian food and found Haldi on Google. And what a great find!! Small restaurant far from the center and restaurants for tourists, nice room, smiling and very friendly welcome! The dishes were excellent, lamb shank and cauliflower steak. Very good lassi and discovery of avocado ice cream, surprising but delicious! If we return to Edinburgh one day, we will stop there again and will not hesitate to recommend it to our friends!!

Utterly fabulous food here this evening…it had been recommended by a foodie friend of mine but far exceeded my expectations….Beautiful balance of spices across all the dishes and a few unexpected treats along the way! I can particularly recommend the dirty samosa (the only photo I took, sadly!) and the cauliflower steak with naan bread. Must add that the naan was sensational - light and crispy and scattered with gorgeous bites of coriander, garlic and fresh red onion…..ultra tasty! If you get the chance…..go here…and enjoy!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Having heard many enthusiastic reviews from friends, we finally ordered from Haldi! Delicious food and lovely staff!

We had an incredible experience at Haldi on our first day in Edinburgh during our vacation. The food, service, and people were all amazing! After seeing the photos, we couldn't resist trying it. We ordered the dirty samosa chat, malai tikka, ghee roast chicken, and finished with a mango lassi. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and we loved every bite. We’re sure that all the dishes here are just as tasty. A truly happy experience! 🥰

Unfortunately I wasn't able to have dinner here because after booking through an external app, I arrived just 10 minutes late, being a Friday evening, between traffic and parking and being foreigners a slight delay could have been expected. But inside they had already assigned the table to other people who had also ordered dinner so I leave the deductions up to you. I can't judge the food but terrible service.

Not a great meal for the price I'm afraid. Naan was undercooked and stale. Main meals quite bland and lacking in distinct flavour. 11% service chanced added to delivery which amounted to £2.99 based on a meal for two people. This service charge was not a driver tip bitvadded to the food bill. Will not be a repeat customer

Not your traditional UK Indian restaurant, but what an incredible place! This is our second visit and we have not been able to fault any of the dishes we have had, they have each been sublime. We opted for the tasting menu on this visit and it did not disappoint (apologies for the lack of photos). We've been to a Michelin recommended Indian restaurant before but Haldi seems to be in another league. The food is incredible and each dish is beautifully presented and is described by the waiting staff as it is served. I'm not a typical wine drinker but the matching wine flight did match the courses really nicely. The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable. The only disappointing part was how quiet the place was - I can't believe that more people aren't dining in at this hidden gem. Thank you all for such a wonderful anniversary meal!

Delicious and beautifully presented food from a rich choice of Indian cuisine. Not the usual “rice and thick sauce“ dishes, but distinctly spiced and curated ingredients. Among others (see photos) I had scallops with a finely cut chutney based on pineapple. The Spanish rosé wine went very well with it. For free: Anisseeds coated with sugar - never tried that before, great finish! The people who work there are exceptionally friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is authentically welcoming and peaceful. Prices are reasonable, but not cheap.

That was amazing! The best Indian food I’ve ever eaten! I’m from Switzerland and we dream to have some food like this here. The service was super. Always smiling and documenting our food. Thank you for this wonderful experience. Would 100% recommend it.

Warm welcome, great service and completely delicious food. Dirty samosa chaat lived up to the reviews we had read, and Tandoori Broccoli - who knew?! Amazing. Mains and sides, including mint naan, beautifully spiced and presented. Sadly no room for desserts.

Amazing place We were Living nearby and went here for dinner. Didn’t expect much but it turned out to be amazing. The staff were all so sweet and very service minded. The food was even more amazing - the lamb we got was absolutely the best we have ever tried. Would recommend this place for everybody! Because of the dinner we just had here, I’ve come to the conclusion that Google should give you one (1) chance per year to give a 6-star rating. Literally everything we ate was the best version I’ve ever had, all the way down to the naan. We ordered poppadum, tandoori broccoli, and old Delhi butter chicken with garlic naan. After like two bites we decided we’d regret not trying more dishes, so we added the paneer khurchan. I had to order my dessert (gulab jamun) for takeaway because I was simply too stuffed…and it was also by far the best I’ve ever had. I’m really not sure what else I can say except do not pass this place up.

Amazing service and innovation food

Superb Indian cuisine. Best I have had in Edinburgh, cooked fresh. Lamb dal, Haldi Bhaji and tandoori Chicken were superb.

High-end Indian Bistro, delicious curries, authentic atmosphere and helpful, attentive staff. Last time we were here, we had dirty samosa chat and tanfoori chicken to start. The chicken was succulent and delicately flavoured, and the presentation of the samosa chat was amazing - see the photos! The lal mass (lamb curry) was delicious, as was the sea bream. Whilst the food is outstanding, what makes this place is the bistro-style presentation. In all, an excellent restaurant!

Ghee Roast Chicken was very tasty and delicious. Very friendly staff. Definitely will be back.

The food was absolutely fantastic. Tapas-style portions- really enhanced with lots of flavours, beautifully presented. From the complimentary starter to the last bit of the Gulab jamun- we thoroughly enjoyed. And trust me we did ordered a lot! Just a suggestion- please include more drinks on your menu! Looks like the waiter didn’t want to serve because we had couple of carry ons. He said it will be one hour wait as they’re all booked. While there was no one in the restaurant or coming in. There were many empty tables. Don’t go there you won’t get good service.

Indian food acolytes and Indian- curious: LISTEN UP! You need to come here! Yes I know it's Scotland but this is honestly the best Indian food l've ever eaten, including all my trips to India. This is one of the best meals l've had on my life- the kind that makes you pause and be grateful to be alive. The food is so very creative yet retains a true authenticity in terms of flavor. The bhel was fantastic and taken to another level with the addition of pomegranate seeds. The tandoori broccoli was truly the best broccoli l've ever eaten, with crisp texture but a whole july 4th fireworks extravaganza of spices with each bite. The chili fish was a 100% successful indochinese fusion dish, with an initial tangy east Asian bite, but a texture that was EXACTLY like all the fish dishes I had in so many seaside northeastern Indian towns. Service was courteous and ambience was elegant but relaxed. This was an unforgettable culinary experience!

One of the best Indian food I ever had. If you want experience and not looking for typical Indian restaurant food you should visit this place. Outstanding place with fabulous customer service and the spice was right in every dishes.

The best meal I've had in a long time, food was fantastic with excuisite flavouring, perfect portions and the range of dishes was spot on, service was great.

I ended up here by staying in a hotel nearby. The reviews seemed excellent so I definitely had to give this a try. As a first-time solo traveler, it felt a bit awkward to enter a restaurant alone, but the waiters welcomed me with a warm smile. My choice was quickly made, as I have been really enjoying eating butter chicken lately. I had rice and garlic naan on the side. Everything was delicious! Very happy that I ended up here, everything was fine. I can only recommend this place!

Here’s the deal. Don’t walk, run to this charming jewel-box of a restaurant in Edinburgh within walking distance of several luxurious guest houses. A crime that Michelin has not yet discovered this gem. The service, impeccable and gracious. The presentation of dishes, simple yet stunning. The food, delicious and refined creations of Indian dishes ranging from butter chicken, biryani and others that takes advantage of the amazing local seafood and other ingredients available to Edinburgh chefs. We had the lamb biryani and the sea bass dishes which were devoured. The garlic naan, can’t miss. Wine selection was narrow but deep and paired particularly well with the meal. We had a fantastic meal at Haldi on Saturday night. We shared the scallops to start, followed by the sea bass and butter chicken - the flavours and presentation were exceptional. We would love this to be our local Indian, but we were only in the area for the weekend. Highly recommend trying this restaurant, we will definitely return if we visit Edinburgh again!

Ordered a takeaway and it was absolutely delicious. The food was piping hot when we picked it up. We were given the most delicious complimentary poppadums. We ordered Dirty Samosa Chat,Garlic Naan, Butter Chicken, Railway chicken , Lal Mas ( Lamb) , Paneer Khurchan and rice. The food was fragrant , fresh and the meat was sooo tender. Will definitely order again.

Absolutely fantastic food! There were three of us and all dishes (starters, main courses and desserts) were exceptionally delicious. Very delicately and cleverly seasoned, attractively presented and very friendly served. We're only in the city for 4 days, but we're actually thinking about eating here again.

if i could put more stars i would!! my father, my partner and i were all absolutely blown away by these dishes (my personal favourite was the samosa from entrees!!) it was honestly amazing and the staff were all smiley and lovely! Have had many take away meals from Haldi and that is because it is extremely good. Lovely, light, fresh dishes. No bright red gloopy sauces here nor colourful rice. Everything tastes very fresh and it is possible to identify individual spices; you are not blasted with sheer spice heat. My personal favourite is the Indo-Chinese Chilli Fish dish. Dining in the restaurant is also a great experience with amuse-bouches to whet your appetite. Staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. A bonus is that we do not need to go anywhere near the over-rated, over-hyped city centre to enjoy such good food.

My husband and I ate at Haldi on 20/07/24 and were very impressed. My husband is a Delhi native and quite a foodie himself and we've found it challenging to find authentic Indian cuisine. We were delighted to find recipes from Punjab as well as Rajasthan on the menu. Dishes were plated with a fine dining approach, but portions were very generous. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall an excellent dining experience!

Haldi is absolutely phenomenal, This restaurant is as organic as it’s name. Sneaked in for just starters which ended up with great range of main dishes and delicious desserts as I fell in love with their taste and passion towards cooking Indian food. I greatly appreciate the chef for uniquely accommodating the flavours of Indian food. The staff were incredibly attentive, polite , well spoken and friendly , A special mention to prithvi for helping with the menu and restrictions in food which kept my mind in rest and made me to enjoy the delicious food at Haldi. Haldi is definitely a hype among all the restaurants in Edinburgh, can’t wait to visit again.

We were staying in a local Airbnb and found this place by accident. Being Asian, we're quite careful about Indian food. We tried to book at 6pm but it was already fully booked. We ordered a takeaway and the food was fabulous. If we ever come back to Edinburgh, we will definitely book a table.

An amazing experience. I can’t believe I’ve been seeing the restaraunt for a while but it was only yesterday I ended up taking my aunt to this heaven and the food was gorgeously tasty - out of the world! We also got a sampler size appetiser which was an infusion of modern Indian cuisine, too good to the core!

This is a nice,clean restaurant with pleasing interiors and nice jazz music played at just the right volumes. There are nice little touches like the amuse bouche and samples from the menu. I like it that there is a genuine effort to make dining here a good experience. The food however is just average and for the price charged, it is a bit of a disappointment. At best, this is an honest effort by an amateur cook who may be having delusions of becoming a Michelin star chef. I've lived in India for several years and I've learnt that Indian food at its best is incomparable for flavour, variety, innovation, taste and presentation. From the simplest of dishes in hidden gem eateries to elaborate wonders in restaurants with a reputation. Therefore my experience at Haldi given my expectations and upon reading all the 5 star reviews was...underwhelming.

1 star deducted because the waiting time was very long and the table next to us was served much earlier, even though they only ordered about 30 minutes after us. The rosé wine was drinkable but not of good quality. The food was very good and the siblings who served were very hospitable and communicative.

This is not your typical Indian restaurant, and I love it. Haldi serves a variety of popular regional cuisine with their own twists and elevations. I recommend sitting in for 1-6 people. We were greeted with friendly, warm, and still professional service from the host. We were seated and given a small menu (good sign!) and a drinks menu. It was odd that the drinks menu was on a single A4 sheet, I'd suggest they give it in a small card/booklet with the menu. This will be my only complaint. After we ordered, we were given a complimentary single-bite starter. That day, it was a fried chickpea-based ball in some sour and mint chutneys. Good balance of sour and spicy flavors, with an interesting textural component. For our starters, the dirty samosa chaat was so good. Its a small potato samosa completely drenched in a variety of toppings. The array of textures and flavors make the (on its own) alright samosa into something spectacular. We also had ladies finger/okra which was a simple crispy treat. Our mains were also incredible. They don't look large in the photo, but we were full by the end. Their Prawn Malabar was a great representation of a coastal Keralan dish. The prawns were huge and so fresh, perfect with the mellow and coconuty gravy. The Bhooni Phool Gobi (Cauliflower) was, although one large piece, so soft and well seasoned throughout. As someone who doesn't enjoy cauliflower, this was insane. My Lal Maas (lamb) had a flavorful combination of spices that didnt take away from the meaty taste of lamb, as most Indian places might do. Their mango lassi was how it should be, and masala chai (not on the drinks menu) was alright. The shop is small and can fit at most maybe 20. They do walk-ins (which I did on the day) but I recommend reservation to save yourself any hassle. The service still stands out to me, the servers were casual and professional, I greatly enjoyed them. No wonder this place has (at the time of writing) >200 reviews and still 5*s. I wish them all the best. If I am in Edinburgh again, I will return.

Amazingly tasty and creative food - most definitely not your standard Indian fare. It's clear lots of thought has gone into the recipes. It's a fine dining experience for your tastebuds at very reasonable prices. Staff are lovely - very friendly and replied swiftly when I have messaged. (Also very understanding and nice when we arrived late once☺️ ) The restaurant is small and intimate, with minimalist decoration. I highly recommend!

Discovered this amazing restaurant 2 doors away from where I was staying. Best Indian food ever, authentic, fresh, delightful chef who brought out a delicious amouse bouche, and a cabbage, chick pea vegetable combo. Fantastic service, don’t miss out on this if you’re in Edinburgh you will not be disappointed .

We are visiting Edinburgh from Australia, and decided to go to Haldi on our first night here on the recommendation of our B&B host, and it did not disappoint. The staff provided such wonderful, attentive and kind service. On top of that, the food was the best Indian we’ve ever had. Prices are very affordable too. Thank you for your hospitality, if we ever find ourselves in Edinburgh in the future, we will be back.

We were completely impressed by the selection of dishes, presentation and taste. The service was very accommodating, friendly and explained all the dishes. Unfortunately we only discovered this place on our last evening in Edinburgh. A telephone reservation with a timed arrangement is an advantage; the rush in the kitchen can then be staggered so that no one has to wait too long.

Without question the best Indian food we have ever enjoyed. We ate vegetarian food and it was an absolute taste experience. All the spices were so perfectly matched that you could hardly believe what you could conjure up from a plain cauliflower, for example. Even though we are only in Edinburgh for five days, we will definitely come back again. Sensational!

Nice and quite unusual Indian with an interesting menu. Really good food, and a nice ambience but marked down from a 5* rating as the menu outside has different prices to the one inside and my chicken was slightly overcooked - a bit dry. But I really liked it and would go back.
